Not bad for the location, reminded me of a motel 6 but a bit nice with no pool. The breakfast was kind of shitty, but the staff was nice.

I booked a two night stay at the Aqua Rio hotel using Priceline.com. I arrived very late in the night sometime past 12 midnight and of course the staff were bewildered and confused about my arrival since they couldn't find my name in the system. So I pulled out my reservation and gave them all pertinent details including the confirmation and bank statement. They still denied my reservation. I needed up paying cash ($55 per night instead of the $41 advertised), because I was exhausted and it was already 2am I gave in. I finally got in my room, small and simple. Very clean. However, no Television remote available and no remote for the wall A/C unit. There were no buttons available to use either item, so might as well have been no TV or A/C in the room. The only great thing was they have a great free continental breakfast though. I have to give a star for that alone. Otherwise, I felt very scammed. Just like most of Tijuana businesses, everyone was a hustler trying to get over on me. I also had to pay $3 cash for water bottles (Kirkland brand), when their website says free water provided. read more

I stayed in Tijuana overnight at this place because it was affordable, clean, and my car was safe. Staff was friendly and it wasn't too far from the main strip. The shower pressure and water was good enough, but I could hear some activity in hallway in the morning. There is only one inside stairway in the front of the hotel that everyone must go through. Some of the rooms downstairs have easy access to the parking lot, though. At night, the corner street area is a little dark and sketchy, but it's only one block to main street. read more

This has become my Tijuana home away from home, and I've been staying here often over the last two years. A review is long overdue. Situated on 9th and Constitucion, the Aqua Rio Hotel is a small, three story, economy hotel. Room rates on weekdays run about $35.00 usd, after tax, while room rates on the weekends run about $48.00 usd, after tax. The rooms here are clean and well appointed, and generally nicer than a San Diego, Motel 6, for about half the price. The clientele are pretty average folks, and I mean that in a good way. Mexicans, and Americans, and they seem to have a recurring Asian tour group, from I think China, that stays there often as well, all of which is also to say, it's not a hooker hotel, or shady drug den, or a loud party spot. There's security in the parking lot all night, and I don't think the staff puts up with parties and disturbances. I've yet to have a bad stay, or feel unsafe. The Hotel is one block off of Revolution, and a short walk to the restaurants, bars, shops and nightclubs along the strip. It's about a one minute walk to Tacos El Gordo, and a ten minute walk to Baja BBQ, Los Chilaquiles, Colectivo 9, and an El Pollo Feliz. There's also an Italian restaurant around the corner on 9th and Revolucion that makes really good pizzas from scratch. I'm hardly getting under the surface of all of the awesome food, and variety of awesome food, restaurants and street food that make up the area. Lastly, bring your best Spanglish, as some of the staff speaks English, while most do not. They are however very nice, very helpful and very friendly. I really like this hotel, partly for the good customer service. A continental breakfast is served every morning with ceral, coffee, fruit, toast and toaster waffles. The wifi here is clear and fast, and you can book through Hotels.com or Booking.com. read more

I tried to get a refund the morning of my scheduled stay but unfortunately they don't offer refunds. I tried to reschedule for the next day, but they declined as well, even though they had rooms available! They didn't want to reschedule for the next day because they would have to return a portion of my money. It's cheaper to stay on Sunday's than on Saturday's. My advice is if you're planning to stay here, don't pay in advance . There's absolutely no benefit. Just pay at the property. Pay the extra 5 bucks. It's worth it. Not coming to this penny pinching place that's for sure. Cheapskates at their finest. read more

This hotel place my family life at risk.This has been the worse experience ever and scariest. I stayed with my wife and 1 year old son. Upon arrival staff was friendly , but I was told they couldn't find the remote for TV. Told to go up in the room and they will bring me one. As I go into the room the bathroom sliding glass door was falling apart and it look like it was going to fall any moment. I told the lady that brought me the remote that I was really concerned since it can fall on my son and injured him n she said there is no one to fix it at the moment. After 30mins I go to the front desk and mention missing ac remote and  told them again for second time I'm really worried about the sliding glass door, I was given the same answer. Later at 9:30pm my wife goes into the shower and after a min I hear a crash. The sliding glass door from shower fell off and injured her hand while she tried covering her head since she is short. I immediately rush to the bathroom and saw blood everywhere she was bleeding from her foot, right arm and hand wrist and fingers. I go to the front desk since phone was not working and told them that I can no longer stay there since they put my family's life at risk n I was going to stay for 2 nights but I couldn't stay one more minute in such horrible hotel. The lady call the gerente owner or supervisor and he call the cops on us. I told them I didn't care about the money they can keep it but it would be fair to not charge me for the next day and he said he will charge for both nights plus I would need to pay for the glass door. Once the police came I explained and they said I'm free to go and not to worry about paying for the glass door I can't detained you for what happened here. I file a complaint with ministerio publico so they can put a stop on this. This hotel seems to blame people for the broken equipment so they don't have to pay and they use peoples money to pay for  renovations of the broken equipment. Please don't stay here your love one could get seriously hurt and on top of it they will try to blame you and not take any responsibility. That night could of been my son, since wife always showers with him except she had a gut feeling and decided to go in by her self. I also reported to the agency I book this with for attempting to falsely accusing us for there negligence and stealing our money. PLEASE DONT STAY HERE YOU WILL REGRET IT. read more

Rooms are great, housemaids are awesome too! But hotel front desk attendants are ok. Parking is small, but doable. (This review will be about a rude front desk, fyi) NERI, a tall, skinny, black hair with braces, she had the worst customer service. As soon as I walked in, her an another girl started making jokes about me, I had no idea what they had said. I asked for a clarification and they just ignored me and kept taking to themselves. This was very unprofessional, i felt very uncomfortable, and with being a first timer here it was pretty unacceptable behavior. I hadn't even arrived to the desk yet, and I already felt like going somewhere else. A shorter girl helped me (she was nice) and NERI was interrupting her service. I politely informed Neri, to please stop talking and let the shorter girl finish her job, Neri just became disrespectful. I asked her for her managers name and she wouldn't tell me. Then she did, and I asked her for the spelling and she just said "it's spelled like it sounds". Her attitude was unacceptable because I was never rude to her nor was I interacting with her. She dived her way into the conversation. One more thing: Neri, also CHOSE to give me a FAKE name- "Janet". If you will stay here, please avoid this girl. It appears she's been rude to several other guests. This is not an experience one wishes to encounter, as again, a first timer here. She needs to be reprimanded or fired. I hope this business makes the right decisions moving forward. I would hate to think that someone else, who doesn't speak Spanish or is on vacation, go through this. This hotel is great for the price. The price is very reasonable and will not break your wallet. The hotel is situated right off of Avenida Revolucion and has plenty of places nearby to eat at. They also have a bar and free continental breakfast included in your stay. The room was spacious and very clean. The shower was also very nice, great water pressure and temperature control. Only downside was that the TV did not work. For the price, this place is worth it, I enjoyed it. read more

3.9 stars because the $45 price including taxes is great! It's a motel, not hotel. The grounds are nice and clean, safe parking. The neighborhood is Mexico. No beautiful view but safe. Watch out for the pot holes. Good wifi. If you like a soft cozy bed, this is it! I slept so good! My sweetie prefers a firm bed. The floor is all tile. So is the big hot shower! Black out curtain is great! I like the wall mounted lamps between the beds for dim lighting. The flat screen is small but good enough. Most channels are Spanish but you will find an English movie and MTV videos. The fun street, Ave Revolución, is one street over. Good times, great restaurants and music everywhere! If you stay on Constitución and walk North you'll find yummy street tacos and lots of prostituís and seedy hotels. Enjoy the show! read more

At less than $50 for an air conditioned room and good Wi-Fi access, Hotel Aqua Rio is priced very well for what you get. The rooms seem clean, fairly fresh and more than adequate for a short stay in Tijuana. The staff are very polite, professional and easy to deal with. There's security on site, usually at reception, creating a feeling of safety. Located fairly centrally, Aqua Rio is within easy walking distance to much of Tijuana's pubs, restaurants and nightlife. Pros: location, staff, comfortable rooms, value for money Cons: linens are a bit worn, neighborhood noise easily makes it's way into the rooms read more

For the price (40$) and location, I must say that this site was a good deal! The hotel was clean, and perfect walking distance to Calle Revolution. Don't count too much on breakfast though.. not many options but for the price.. that's as good as it gets, better then nothing. The next day I stayed at the Grand Hotel for convenience to my dental appointment, and surprisingly I was regretful- Grand Hotel charged me 89$ (and that price includes a discount!) and the room was very old, stains on carpet, writing on wall, and the a/c was broken. I was regretful not staying at Aqua Rio Hotel for half the price, plus cleaner and in an area close to an active tourist street. read more

THE AQUA RIO HOTEL is a budget hotel that shows Pride of Ownership. This place is cleaner that some hospital I have been too at home in Los Angeles !! I get upset reading some reviews about the location but let me tell you I decided to take Greyhound from Downtown Los Angeles to Tijuana. I felt safer where this hotel is located then at the LA bus station where you had people selling stolen items and drug addicts. I wish people would look in their own backyard before making ignorant comments, I arrived at the hotel at 3 AM and they had security and one way into the hotel. I was checked in immediately. I went to my room and put on the AC which cooled down quickly and had a great sleep !! Great Room, Great People, Great Price, Felt Very Safe. Win Win !!! read more

I had to catch a flight to Cabos using tijuanas airport and I found this hotel. It was well maintained and very inexpensive. I had good service when I was there. Rooms are simple but nice at the same time. The price for the night incredible 32 dollars. I would reccomend this hotel for any visit to tijuana. Its small but worth saving the buck. read more

**OJO OJO OJO OJO OJO** I just stayed here on Friday night to check out on Saturday, and say to say an unfortunate incident occurred. The Hotel was small, no parking available, no room service, no towels in the bathroom. NO AC!! Very very hot. Unfortunately the showers were glass doors that did not open correctly. When my husband took a shower and tried to get out one of the doors entirely broke all over him. He was full of glass and has a small cut on his foot. Thankfully nothing else happened. We reported it to the front fest 45 minutes later they came to pick it up. Not once ask if we needed a first aid kit, nor offered us anything else. When we checked out they wanted to charge us $90.00 for the shower door when clearly it was an accident. I refused they called the Police. The officer said it was not my husband's fault it was clearly an accident but the owner wanted his money if not my husband would go to jail for not paying. At one point they where trying to negotiate for at least $50 which was just wrong. In the end because we had our small children who were hungry, we needed to leave. Therefore we just paid the $90 and obtained a police report. I hope to do something against them legally. But in the meantime please do not be fooled by their false advertisement. read more
