Stayed here on my wedding night and got a free upgrade! Overall, the hotel room was quite nice (if a bit small), and was priced reasonably compared to the other downtown hotels. However, we ordered room service food and were pretty disappointed with the taste of the $16 burgers. read more

I went to Seattle for my birthday with 2 of my friends! We stayed at Hotel Max and even though there was a few things that got a bit annoying, I would definitely go back! First, there was a misunderstanding with our reservation and instead of getting two beds, they gave us one! The Front desk tried to help as much as possible, but they were all booked for the first night. The next day they called us to let us know there was a room available for us, but since we were all settled in, we decided to stay in our room. That night, both of our keys failed to open our door when we arrived from dinner. The front desk staff was very prompt to fix the issue. The room was a acceptable size, but the bathroom was so small! I would recommend a room like this for a couple. More people just makes the place too crowded. The hotel had a very nice feel to it. Lights were dimmed, the doors all had different art. Very nice! The Staff was also very friendly and helpful. Oh, I must not forget their bed! The bed was like sleeping on a cloud! AMAZING! The hotel is pretty close to everything! We walked about 10 mins to Pike Place. We even walked to Space Needle, although that took a lot longer. I would definately recommend Hotel Max and I plan on returning later this year! read more

My sister and I spent three nights at Hotel Max and and had a fabulous time. Staff (Sal and Topher) were incredibly helpful and attentive and went out of their way to help us with myriad things. Rooms were clean, bed was comfortable, loved the Aveda products, gym was decent, decor was ultra cool, location to Pikes Market, shops, etc. was great. Did I say free Wi-fi? Heating system could have been better, but on the whole, was not a big deal. Would stay here again when next in Seattle. Loved it! read more

This hotel has so many great and bad elements that I worry my review will be slightly bipolar. Here goes: The good: - The pillow menu: SO cute! Pillows can really make or break a hotel experience, so I liked this little touch. - The customer service: The front desk agents were so helpful and willing to go out of their way. - The decor: I love a cool little boutique hotel, and the art in the rooms as well as in the hallways was really interesting. The bad/ugly: - As with any boutique hotels, there are good rooms, and less than good rooms. There were a few of us staying in this hotel, so I feel that I got to see the best and the worst. Some of the rooms had great views of the Space Needle, but mine unfortunately had a view of the back alley, and into other rooms. Some of the rooms had full bathrooms with lots of counter space, but my bathroom was split between two closets. One had the tub/shower, and the other had a toilet and a little bowl of a sink. Zero counter space. However, my room did have a elongated desk where I could get ready in the morning, but some rooms had little to no work space. - The internet was a little touch and go. Sometimes it would connect very easily to a very fast connection, and sometimes it wouldn't work at all. - The walls are thin. If you have a loud neighbour, you will definitely hear them. - The AC unit is sticking out the window and very ugly. This is just a personal preference. Would I stay here again? Sure, but I would probably request a room with a better bathroom and a better view. read more

We're Seattle locals and enjoyed our stay at Hotel Max - an opportunity to stay downtown with close access to everything in the downtown area. We appreciate the fact that Hotel Max supports local non-profits such as Canine Companions for Independence, an organization that trains and provides service dogs. Hotel Max donated a night's stay to their auction and we were the fortunate bidders. The staff were friendly and attentive. We were surprised and appreciative of the generous offering of champagne given we were celebrating our anniversary. My husband enjoyed playing the records on the record player and the NW music photos on the 5th floor were brilliant. The only unfortunate element of the stay was the noise from construction at the building next door prior to 8am in the morning, but that's not something the hotel would have control over. We'll be sure to recommend Hotel Max to our family/friends who come to town next. read more

I stayed at this hotel on July 25, 2015 for $368 and it was not worth $1 ! It is run by young kids who do not know what they are doing at the reservation desk. I came in from my flight early, understandable that my room would not be ready until 4. They offered to take my luggage & so, I went to lunch next door. Then, I walked down to the harbor & saw some of the sights & relaxed at the Edgewater Hotel (Nice)! I asked the hotel clerk at Hotel Max to text me when my room was ready. It was already 5 :50 pm and no text or call. I called them & they said it has been ready! What service! I took a cab back to the hotel & still, could not get my luggage or key for another half hour! People everywhere in the tiny lobby. No place to sit! Finally, I got in my room & I was in shock! It was so tiny I thought I was going to gasp for air! Then, I went to sit down at the chair & the wheel falls off & I almost flew backwards. Ridiculous! I called front desk & let them know, this is not acceptable & to move me to another room. Well, it doesn't get much better. They gave me a little bigger room, but, very noisy on the second floor near the street. I went to open the window shutter, and the shutter flies off almost hitting me on the head! What a ridiculous hotel that is poorly maintained and is not worth a dollar! I called front desk again & they did send maintenance & asked if I wanted a complimentary drink to lessen the aggravating experience. I asked for a card of the name of the manager or executive & they hesitated for quite sometime! I also asked if they could compensate me for a cab to the cruise dock & said "No Way!" This hotel is old, not well-maintained, poorly run by young unprofessional employees and will never get high marks on any level. I hope this establishment will compensate me for the inconvenience and lack of professionalism. How on earth can you justify $368 a night for a closet size room with broken furniture and fixtures and a bathroom that has a tiny, narrow step up to kill yourself on it! Oh My God! What are you thinking? read more

Great boutique hotel - walking distance to all and in trendy area. Rooms small but attached bar/eatery more than makes up for that. Staff really nice and helpful. read more

Stayed here a few months back with friend. The rooms were small but very quaint and awesome vibe. The hotel was close to everything and the staff was very friendly. It is like a mini Hard Rock Hotel with a mini price! I cant wait to come back and stay here, I will continue to refer my friends and family to this shabby chic hotel. read more

Right now im at the hotel and cant wait to write the review until I am home. Ive pretty much had a bad experience for this hotel. I booked a 2 night stay with the hubba hubba hanky panky package for my 5 year anniversary. when booking I asked for early arrival (i didnt want to waste the day waiting to check in!) Our package came with complimentary parking so I knew we would at least be able to use that if we couldnt check in early. Well we couldnt check in early and was told by the front desk it would be ready soon..... Checking back three more times and still we didnt check in until 4 pm. When we got to our room, none of our "goodies" from our package were there. Calling down to the front desk we were ask to leave the room so they can set them up. 20 mins later it was finally in our room. Do not order room service. I paid $75 for two curry dusted angus steaks, fingerling potatoes, and upon calling was offered organic zuchini or asparagus, we chose the asparagus. There were 4 small pieces of fatty lukewarm steak, 4 fingerling potatoes and get this..... Broccoli! if we didnt have the heater on our room was cold, and very loud from all the outside noise ( granted we did have a "nice" corner room facing the courthouses. the next morning, bright and early, we could hear every single bus that came by, about every 15 mins. We finally found out why our room was so noisy and cold. One of their windows was broken that left a 1 inch gap uncovered! Wheb I went to ask about getting it fix, the man at the front desk said they would be right on it. 3 hours later I had to go back down and no one had any idea of my request. When the engineer did come up, he fiddled with it pushed it down a little more and said it must be broken and he was sorry. There is still a 1/2 inch gap. When we left to check out pikes place the same front desk guy took our parking voucher. Upon arriving back I was told I needed my voucher to be able to get my car back out, I went in asking for my voucher back and was told rudely he didnt think we were coming back and had already thrown it away! For paying so much, I dont feel I got my money's worth. I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone nor will I stay here again. If I hadnt paid so much for this room I would have left already. All I got were apologies, no comping or reinbursment. Dont stay here your momey is better off at the westin right down the street. read more

The restaurant was the only good part of my experience with this hotel. The rooms are uncomfortably small- the shower feels like a dorm room shower. My room heater broke and it took a 4 day turn around for the hotel to fix. Which I also had to remind the front desk daily that it was still broken. With how much I paid I would expect way better customer service. I will not be returning to this hotel again! read more

The Hotel Max is in a great location and easily walkable to Pike's Mkt. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable and the hotel itself is very cool. We loved it and would stay there again in a heartbeat. read more

We stayed at Hotel Max again this weekend. I wasn't expecting much after put last experience. Well.... We had an awesome time. The valets were professional and courteous. They were full of good city info on where to eat and cool things to check out. We needed a cab to get to the event we were in town for they had a private town car waiting for us curbside and the driver was sure to bring us back. The room was bigger than the original one we stayed in. Very modern and intimate. The view was great for people watching. Sakura Con was going on at the convention center and there was lots of great costumes to see. The front desk staff was excellent!!! They had gifts in the room for my husband's birthday when we arrived. I'm glad we took the Opportunity To Stay again. We will be back! Thanks!!! read more

If it weren't for the location and the EXCEPTIONAL Staff ... we probably would have checked out and went elsewhere. The Airplane size bathroom was cramped and uncomfortable!! It was difficult to get hot water at night and for some strange reason the maid was very stingy with wash cloths ... we had to ask for them daily and/or go steal them from the closet ... that and the decaf coffee and creamer, for some reason she just didn't want to part with those!! The vibe and feel of the hotel was great, and like I said the Staff was funny, kind, knowledgeable and overall made the the entire visit worth it. Keep up the good work Staff!!!! About that bathroom ... if you've ever been in an airplane restroom ... well ... you get my drift. You have to step out to change your mind!! That was a HUGE turn-off ... can't go back for that reason, unfortunately!! read more

Great value and location in downtown Seattle. Came up for a day trip and ended up spending the night. Within a couple of phone calls, booked a room at Max as room was reasonably priced, due to a projected budget of around $150. Decor is fun and upbeat, lots of bright colors and a vibrant lobby. Rooms are a little tight but easily overlooked when my intentions were just to sleep and go. read more

Went to a Seattle for our 1st time. Decided to stay at Hotel Max. Really glad we did. The staff was amazing! From check in to check out everyone was extremely friendly. I am giving it 4 stars due only to the small room and the noise. We stayed in a corner room and the noise from the alley was extremely loud. Even with this the room was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. I want to give a special thank you to Lenz. I was talking with him during the beer reception and told him the reason for our visit (my birthday). That evening he personally brought us up a bottle of champagne. It was a great way to end our trip. Thank you Hotel Max for our stay. Keep up the friendliness. read more

There are plenty of other hotels that have free parking. Unless you don't mind paying $45 per day, I would stay somewhere else in downtown.

This hotel is great!! The rooms are decorated well and the hallways/doors are fantastic. The staff was very nice at every step of the way and to top it off they have a free craft beer happy hour for guests. Will 100% repeat read more

I stayed one night at the Hotel Max. I checked into a single room with my small dog. For around $160, I got a small but tidy and well designed room with a double bed. It had all the amenities of a standard hotel room and a great view of the Space Needle. It is important to note: this is a boutique hotel in an old building downtown Seattle. The rooms are small by American standards, but they have everything you could need. The design and function of my room reminded me of many of the European boutique hotels I've stayed in. Further, the staff was helpful and friendly and welcoming to my dog and me. They provided me with a dog bed, food and water dishes, and a few treats for my little guy. The only frustration I had was with my mattress. While my bed and linens were clean and comfortable, the mattress was very old and dilapidated. No matter where I sat or laid, I rolled to the center, and when I pulled the sheets back to inspect for bed bugs (none to be found), the ticking was torn and I could see straight through to the springs. Not what I would expect from any hotel. Anywhere. Despite that one problem, I had a great night's sleep and would return to this trendy boutique hotel. I hope this helps! read more

The Location is Great but the hotel rooms are not. I got an on line deal so I took my husband to stay the night and walk around downtown. The rooms are VERY small and cannot keep an even heat in the them. There is a heater/air condition in the window that is very loud when on. The size of the bathroom is the smallest I have ever seen, and the shower was so small that I kept hitting my elbow on the wall and on the curtain trying to wash my hair and I am only 5-2 120 Ibs. I cannot imagine a larger person trying to shower. The mattress was so soft and slanted that I slept against my husband on an angle all night long. I would not stay there again. The staff was nice and it was clean so that does count for something read more

Cute hotel. Great lobby decor and nice art, if you are into the super contemporary stuff. Everyone was very nice to me. The room was clean and well-appointed, very stylish. Upscale linens and pillows, though the mattress did seem slightly soft. Loved all the cheeky little specials in the room, like the "Spirituality Menu" and the "Pillow Menu". It did seem to be missing -just- a smidgen of the polish that hotels like The Andra have. For example, the nightstands are chipped, the heating/ac units are in the window. But it is a lovely property, great location, and very stylish! read more

Great customer service and a decent location make this a 3 for me. The decor is modern with lots of artwork which I thought would be cool. In person most the furniture seems ikea in the lobby and the elevators are soo tiny. The king room was very small as was the bathroom, providing very little counter space. Because of the modern appeal and good customer service I gave this a 3, but I wouldnt pay more then the $159. Priceline price I paid. read more

Besides the nicely furnished lonby, I found my experience with hotel Max to be upsetting. They lost my reservation and made me wait for 2 hours while they helped numerous guests before sorting out the mistake they made and they were rude. This hotel lacks any customer service skills. read more

My daughter and I started our 6 colleges in 7 days Pacific Northwest Road trip by spending two nights at this fantastic hotel! We loved every part of it from the incredibly helpful staff, to the swanky decor, the individual pictures on the doors, to the perfect location! Hotel Max has a policy wherein they charge your credit card $75 per day for incidentals before you have consumed them. I had a two night stay covered in a package I purchased at a local auction. I handed over my 2 freebie 1-night cards upon check-in along with my CC# incase of any minibar, room service, movies, etc, which I did not intend to purchase. Next morning saw that a $150 charge from Hotel Max had hit my bank account. Called to inquire and was informed of this policy. I told the manager that I've never been charged for incidentals at a hotel until checkout, and certainly not before using them, and asked that the $150 be refunded to my card. Was told, "I can't process a refund today because banks are closed on Sundays." What a crock! He was not necessarily rude, but was not the least bit understanding or helpful. I don't have $150 extra in my bank account that I can just let a hotel borrow for a few days. Checked out this morning and was told the $150 should appear in my account again "after 2-3 business days." Whatever! read more

Hotel Max has the best atmosphere. We spent 3 nights here and staff made us feel comfortable and welcomed. The happy hour beer keg was a nice touch. Our room was small but it reminded us of living on a boat. Everything was compact but well planed. We stayed on the rock and roll floor. I love the artwork that is featured everywhere. Most definitely will stay here anytime we come to Seattle. read more

I am still in this place (sadly) and I'd like to share why people should avoid it. It has very small rooms, but that's OK - after all it's in down-town and affordable. Right next to my bed (because the room is small) is a giant integrated AC/heater built right into the window. That is also common. But what is not common is that the AC/heater is either completely on or off. You cannot set it to shut off at a certain temperature or time. It's 45 degrees outside, the windows are paper-thin and I have the choice between sleeping with a giant loud machine blowing real hot air right onto me or sleeping in 45 degrees cold. When I complained to the reception, they were nice and all, but all they could do is give me blankets - according to them all the rooms are like that. They mumbled something about old building, but this is rubbish - AC/heaters with a thermostat are not exactly a novelty. Oh btw, what they call "internet" won't even load the web search results. I have to tether my phone. Anyway, unless you feel you have no need for heating, don't stay here. read more

We had a great stay at Hotel Max in May 2016! The staff were all super friendly and offered incredible suggestions for restaurants and things to do. We loved their mobile concierge service. We would text them at anytime and ask for a recommendation in the area where we were. They also offered a complimentary craft beer tasting in the lobby everyday from 5:00-6:00pm which was a nice treat after being out all day exploring. We cannot say enough good things about the staff here, especially Eric at the front desk! The hotel was super chic and modern and while the room itself was a bit small (similar to a european hotel room) it was comfortable and clean which is what matters. read more

I stayed at Hotel Max for memorial day weekend. My room was clean and small enough for one person. The room keys kept deactivating and the staff said its because the cellphones make the strip stop working? However, the lobby is chic and has a great style! read more

I had a King bedroom. I have never stayed in a smaller hotel than this. There was no colored accents on the bed that their website shows. There were stains on the carpet. The bathroom was like a airplane bathroom. Plus there all kinds of weird red paint splotches on their bathroom walls, where they tried to correct other peoples dents and/or stains. The furniture was chipped and stained. It was all very awkward. The front desk seemed kind of frosty, and ignored me when I was checking in. The valet was nice. I don't think I would stay here again. read more

i have never felt the need to write a review before but after my experience i feel it could persuade someone to make a different decision. this was an anniversary getaway and we left feeling like we could have stayed at home and had better service. super small rooms, peeling paint in the bathtub, the front desk staff was totally inhospitable and barley acknowledged us, movies on demand was broke and keep rebooting and we were unable to watch the movie that was included in our package, i saw that room service does not change the duvet covers between guests (GROSS!), breakfast was terrible. no one acknowledged us at check out or asked how our stay was. very very underwhelming. the only positive thing was that the valets were really friendly and asked if we needed directions and made small talk with us. we should have stayed at the ace! will not be a recommend for friends or clients...ever. read more

OMG! I've stayed on hotels around the world, but have never seen a room this small! Service was pretty good, although they are clearly understaffed- front desk is also, bellman, valet, etc....These are closets not hotel rooms! read more

I travel A LOT. I stay in A LOT of hotels. I stayed here about 5 years ago when it was first opening up. It was hip and cool and even though it was under some serious construction the staff and vibe made it cool. The rooms were small but funky...fast forward to about a week ago and the only funky thing about this hotel was the smell in my room. Staff was unhelpful with the exception of one manager, Topher. I called to get a late check out and was told no. I asked for the manager on duty and was told that he was in meetings all day and could not speak to me. Went downstairs 20 min later to find a manager and the guy I spoke to at the front desk went into the back office and came out 2 minutes later that it was approved (when the door opened i saw a guy with his feet up on a desk, real busy). Seriously...making a guest come downstairs to find a manager...ridiculous. Got ripped off by valet...park across the street half the price for 24 hrs and you can come and go just like their slow, rude valet and you don't have to wait. The hotel is pretty inexpensive and that is about all they have going for them. read more

Really great hotel in the middle of downtown Seattle. Close to all the happenings. Love the curbside service as this little boutique. The restaurant isn't bad either. However, you better bring some cash, kind of a little over priced for a couple of eggs. But don't worry there's a Starbucks at each corner. Hotel staff is nice, but I did find that one desk staff member was a little under trained in hospitality. I mean, you pay for service right? You should get it. But that is really fishing for something, because all and all, for the price, this place is pretty nice. I loved the decor. The rooms are a little tiny, but this is a historical building so that's to be expected. If you love Music, and Hollywood, you will love the way they decorated the doors and hallways in this place. Also there's a small computer center, with two computers in case you didn't bring your laptop. Also nice about this place is the fact that there are benches out front, on the sidewalk, great for your coffee and a snack. Who doesn't like people watching? Now getting to the actual rooms: Beds are comfy, the closet is an amour type of deal, with iron and board. I like that added touch. There are also over priced snacks and drinks in the fridge like any well appointed hotel. I generally skip these items as I like to stay healthy, as well as not to blow my money, but just in case you like 'em, they are there! Now onto the bathroom...Yes, its a lovely little tiny bathroom. But it is tiny, very tiny, and the door opens so that the front door will hit it if its not completely closed. We had a bit of the problem with this as both my fiance and I stayed here together in the room. Also, if you are a fashionista like me, you probably like to spread your products out for easy use...You wont likely be able to do that in this small bathroom without counter space. NO COUNTER SPACE AT ALL! I had to put my shampoos, etc...and my blow drier, as well as curling iron on the floor under the sink. Now onto the shower: Yes, great water pressure. This is important. Also nice bedding to sink into! Pro: Comfortable Bedding Curb service and parking: around $15 plus tip Computer center Sidewalk seating Nice decor Decent staff Iron and board Great Water Pressure Fast elevators Location Decent pricing Nice linen Cons: Small bathroom Small rooms Closet is an amour which takes up even more space in the already small room Restaurant is good, but over priced Staff could be trained a little better, not all, just one of them. Will keep who that is to myself. If still there, I'm sure you will figure out who that is on your own. Would I stay there again: YES, it was worth it for sure.... Should you stay there: Yes, especially if you are single or a couple. groups or friends should stay in separate rooms. Unless you want to stumble into each others personal space! read more

My friend and I wanted to really experience the Art's in Seattle to go along with our itinerary. When she found the Max Hotel we we're so excited, it fit right in with our SIFF (Seattle International Film Festival) experience, the hotel was wonderful from the moment you walk in and see the red front desk to all the cool art in the lobby to the doors on each room they have the coolest black and white photos on the door, I went floor to floor taking pictures of each door. Stayed here with my family on Thanksgiving for a bit of a staycation. Had a great time. Really like the decore of the hotel with its colors and posters on the doors! Overall, I'd say it was A-Ok as far as my hotel experiences have been. read more

Hotel Max advertises itself as a boutique hotel for artists. The owners must believe artists need to suffer for their art. Our room was tiny - not just small, tiny. The bathroom was even tinier, and the act of attempting to wash ones legs and feet resulted in body parts jutting out of the shower cubicle. Redfin is closed, so no hot meals on the premises. The 2 elevators are barely bigger than their shower cubicles, and there is apparently no service elevator, as the guest elevators were in constant use by the cleaning staff. In terms of location, Hotel Max is well-sited, however, it sits at the bottom of every hill surrounding it, resulting in required up-hill climbing whenever one ventured anywhere. They should really rename the hotel Hotel Min, as it is far from max. read more

Room, location, and price were nice, however wake up call was not delivered, and when we arrived early before checkin and we were told of the texting service to notify us when a room was available, which we provided a cell phone number for, no notification was ever sent (we asked 3 hours later and were told rooms were available). read more

Absolutely enjoyed staying at hotel Max. From the time I checked in Til the Time I checked out it was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time. If you like rock, hip vibes and free craft beer this is the place to stay. I recently was there from 8/14/16-8/18/16 and I believe Megan helped me and my girl check in. (I hope I got her name right ...she was so awesome) even though we had a weird start being sent up to a dirty room (not yet cleaned, and a maintenance guy working in it) she apologized and quickly fixed the situation and even gave us free beer while we waited for an upgraded room for the inconvenience, we were even checked in early at no additional cost. The hotel decor was my favorite part as I do like rock and artsy stuff. Having a record player with some vinyls in the room was an added bonus. Every staff member was great!! Their service was even better than any major Vegas strip hotel I've been too. Granted the bathrooms aren't big but they make do. Just make sure u get lots of little bottles of shampoo and body wash as they are "little" but you can always order more, no biggie. My room came with earplugs but no need as it was not noisy at all. I would definitely book again if I'm ever in Seattle since it's so close to all the touristy stuff and service is top notch. read more

what a horrible, dissappointing experience. I have never written a review before because honestly, no one has annoyed me this much. First, this is in no way a 3.5 star hotel. It is simply a travel lodge with better marketing, ikea decor, and snobbish front desk staff. Here we go. The room is very small, my dorm room at university was larger. The in room ac/heater unit is just plain stupid. Not only was it not working well, but who can sleep with it on??? You need to keep warm at night because the room was freezing. Trust me, it gets cold at night in seattle. Plus the unit is put in the window? Was this a last minute costco decision?? Wow. The walls are so thin that you find out way too much about your neighbors. When you can hear toilet use, it makes you want to blow your brains out. The ONLY treadmill in the fitness room was not working. The other one had a sign on it and the one that you could use, the buttons for incline were stuck. Btw, the basin in the bathroom looks the spatoon my dentist asks me to spit in. The closet, okay, what closet, you have to hamg your clothes sideways. Yes, the closet is 1 foot in width. Plus they hide the hairdryer in there because there is no counterspace in the bathroom! I say hide, because it took me awhile to realize it was in the closet. Isn't that where everyone keeps it?? Last but not least, the screwed my wake up call. They had it down for one hour later than I requested. When asked, they literally did not care. I need to have a "talk" with our office travel assistant. I will not go on another trip if they use priceline again. Especially if there is a chance I will ever be put here again. There is nothing that could bring me back here. read more
