I had a great stay at The Sound Hotel Seattle Belltown and would definitely consider staying here…read moreagain. I booked it partly because it's part of Hilton's Tapestry Collection, so I could earn and redeem Hilton Honors points. That was a huge plus since I was visiting during the World Cup and hotel prices were absolutely wild: close to $800 a night if I had paid out of pocket! The service was excellent from the moment we arrived. There was a bellman opening the door, everyone we interacted with was friendly and accommodating, and it was always easy to grab an Uber right outside the hotel. One feature I really liked was the little pantry in the lobby. It's basically a self-service convenience store stocked with local candy, snacks, wine, beer, and other treats. You scan everything yourself and can charge it directly to your room, which was super convenient. We used our HHonors stay credit to buy a small bottle of Washington State wine and some local chocolates. The hotel has a really fun music theme throughout, and the design is modern with a Scandinavian-inspired feel. As a Gen Xer, I thought the vibe was just plain cool without trying too hard. Our standard King room had huge windows, a spacious sitting area, and clean, minimalist European-style décor that felt fresh and comfortable. The hotel itself was also surprisingly quiet despite being located in an urban area, so we slept really well. The only disappointment was our view. It wasn't much to look at. I was secretly hoping for an upgrade, but no luck. Not a deal breaker, just a minor letdown considering one side of the hotel affords perfect views of the Space Needle. The location is excellent for sightseeing on foot. We walked to Pike Place Market in about 10 minutes, and the Space Needle was also around a 10 minute walk in the opposite direction. Just be prepared for Seattle's hills! They're no joke, and you'll be going up and down some very, very steep streets to get to the waterfront. There are also plenty of great restaurants, bars, shops, and coffee shops within easy walking distance. One thing I'd mention is that while we felt comfortable during the day, after dinner around 10:45 p.m. we decided to take an Uber back from the Pike Place Market area instead of walking back to the hotel because parts of the area felt a little sketchy at night. Seattle has a very serious problem with drug users and unhoused folks, and they can get a little scary. I feel so badly for them, but I also felt a lot safer in an Uber than trying to walk back in the downtown area that late at night. The Sound is a stylish, comfortable hotel with excellent service, a great location, and a fun personality. If you're a Hilton Honors member, it's an especially solid choice when Seattle hotel prices are high.

Upon arriving at the front desk, I checked in and was told the room would be ready shortly but it was more like 4 hours later. I found the front desk staff to be professional but not very friendly. There is a lounge area on the 7th floor with a bar and indoor / outdoor seating. At night it is particularly nice because there is an electric fire pit with great seating and view of the Space Needle. Again, the bar staff was professional but not very welcoming. The room we stayed in was a corner room but it only had one windows on one wall so the room stayed pretty dark. It was comfortable and cool with very good bedding. The bathroom was great and it even had a heated floor. Check-out was okay eventhough they had to adjust our bill because we were not credited our Hilton Honors credit for both of us in the room which took a while. It seems that the ride share car services wait outside the hotel on cruise ship mornings so getting a car takes only a minute or two. I would stay at this property again with hopes for a more welcoming staff.

It was built in 1914 and has been well cared for over the years. When we came back from one evening out, we all gathered in the Library and set up some charcuterie and wine to share from our travels. It was so cozy sitting all together and chatting about our adventures. The rooms are historic with modern conveniences. Our room was the Queen Ann Hill. The temperature controls worked great, the bed was very comfortable and had an adequate number of pillows, the bathroom was well-appointed, and everything was very clean. The bath towels were large, soft, and plush. The frosted door to the water closet was a nice touch for the sake of privacy if you were sharing the space with someone. The shower was not huge but it was more than adequately spacious for me. There were 2 robes hung in the bathroom (though I didn't use them). The small table and chairs near the window were convenient and comfortable to work from. The view from my room was very nice, especially during clear days when you can see the water and the mountains in the distance. The room was always well maintained after the typical morning cleaning as well as during turn down service. I appreciated the staff placing slippers by the bed and how they always nicely arranged my toiletries in the bathroom, replaced used towels with fresh ones, and even placed things on the table in the bedroom (like my charger, earbud case, eyeglass case, and so on) neatly for when I returned. The bar area at the back of the restaurant was a nice little area and had a table large enough for our group of around 8-10 to comfortably sit at while enjoying a nightcap. My breakfast the day I checked out was also high quality and my server Nathan was pleasant, timely, and honest about prep time of some items I wanted to order but was constricted due to a time crunch. In general, every staff member I encountered was pleasant, eager to help, and always smiled and made eye contact when speaking with me. All in all, I had a wonderful experience and have no complaints. This property is one of the top 2-3 Four Seasons hotels I have stayed at over the past several years. Summary: Avoid this hotel. Poor communication, misleading booking practices, and grossly inadequate room quality despite premium pricing. Booking Experience: The staff used deliberately confusing language during booking modifications. When I explicitly asked if a room change would cost more and stated I wasn't interested if it did, I was told it would be provided "complimentary." However, I was ultimately charged $62.70 more than my adjacent night for what they claimed was an "upgrade." The communication was so misleading that it took multiple emails to understand what had actually occurred. Room Quality - "Sub Pop Queen VIP Room": Despite being marketed as a "VIP" room, the accommodations were shockingly inadequate: Extremely cramped with no separate seating area Only one bathrobe and one set of earplugs provided for two guests Tiny bathroom with shower stall only No refreshments available, not even for purchase Most problematic: the bed offered zero support, resulting in both guests experiencing back and shoulder pain that required massage therapy to correct Customer Service: When I raised concerns about the charges and misleading communication, staff became evasive and defensive rather than solution-oriented. They acknowledged a separate $4.41 overcharge as "an oversight on our part" but refused to address the larger billing discrepancy despite documented evidence of their misleading statements. Overall Experience: For a hotel charging premium rates and claiming "VIP" status, the combination of poor communication, substandard accommodations, and defensive customer service was appalling. The physical discomfort caused by the inadequate bedding alone would prevent me from ever returning. Recommendation: Save your money and choose literally any other Seattle hotel. There are far better options at lower prices throughout the city. read more

I have stayed at numerous hotels and this hotel ranks the lowest in terms of comfort and service. We had two full size beds in the room that should only be accommodating one bed and the bathroom was just a little bigger than the ones you find in the airplane. No tub and just standing shower stall. My biggest complaint however is the bed. It had almost no support and slowly sunk to the bottom like a fish bowl after five minutes. I have never slept tried to sleep on such a terrible bed in a hotel or anywhere else. I called the front desk and the and requested to change the room with a better bed and the answer? "All the beds are the same sir" Are you kidding me? And they offered to place "wooden planks" behind the bed for support! WOODEN PLANKS!!! Is this a joke? This so called Boutique hotel in middle of Seattle downtown offering wooden planks to correct their bed that's not worthy for a homeless person? And then they offered to send up the engineer to see what they can do and said "they have some tricks that they can use"...........what da heck kinda hotel is this?? Some tricks?? The only good thing that came out of this was that I didn't have to stay there another night and Expedia was nice enough to refund my money for one night. At the end after I had my bags all packed up they offered to move me to another room. And what happened to "All the beds are same sir"? We got the heck out of there before I witnessed any more lousy service. I would give every rating a 1 out of 5. Zero if I had the choice. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL! read more

The 3.5 star average rating for Hotel Max is just about right. There were definitely some pros and cons to staying here, so I'll just lay it out for everyone without any fuss: Pros: + Funky, fun motif. Seattle loves Kurt Cobain and it's so funny that my room was on the grunge rock floor. Kurt and Courtney greeted me right by the elevator twice a day. + Free beer in the lobby from 5:30-6:30. Sadly, I was never there to indulge, but it seems like other patrons took full advantage. Cheers! + Centrally located, within walking distance of great bars/restaurants. + In-house restaurant, Miller's Guild, offers brunch! + I was somehow blessed with a larger room, complete with record player. And I loved the Sub Pop TV channel. Cons: + The elevators! Staff and patrons share two small elevators. Anytime you try to get up and down inside the hotel, there was someone already in there with a cart or appliance. + Experienced some issues with both my credit card and debit card at the front desk during check-in. When my traveling co-worker tried using his, they said all three cards were no good. We have money, we swear! It eventually got worked out. + Even with the "do not disturb" sign prominently displayed, housekeeping knocked on my door every morning. I appreciate them trying, but I promise that I don't need the bed made or any fresh towels. It's all good! Overall, it was a very pleasant 4-night stay. And with a great rate of $125/night (plus tax), it was a fantastic deal. Consider Hotel Max when visiting Downtown Seattle. read more

I really liked staying at Hotel Max. It reminded me of a hotel in Paris or London--smaller efficient, comfortable rooms and artistic, bustling lobby with the little chic touches that make the difference. The location is super good. It is right downtown within easy walking distance of everything. The bed mattress was very comfortable. On one night, they were even having a beer festival of some sort in the lobby so when I walked in a nice young lady walked up and handed me a beer. Wow! Great staff, convenient valet, morning coffee and cool music while looking out at the city. Note there is additional satisfaction at staying in a repurposed older building. Someone had the vision to put together a great experience in an existing building. Thank you. And finally, the price--the price is really great! To stay downtown for less than $150 a night is special. This hotel is for the confident traveler, who carries the adventure within himself and enjoys traveling light and maximizing the experience in a new city. You will feel the poetry and feet-on-the-street big city thrill when you stay there. I will definitely return to this hotel. Thanks Hotel Max! read more

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my concern regarding a $70 luxury fee that was charged during my recent stay at Max Hotel. While I understand that such fees are often associated with enhanced amenities and services, my experience unfortunately did not reflect the level of service that would justify this charge. Specifically: * Only one elevator was operational during my stay, with a maximum capacity of three people, which caused significant inconvenience. * Room service was not provided throughout my stay, which further detracted from the luxury experience I expected. Given the limitations in the services provided, I kindly request a review of this charge and a refund of the luxury fee. Thank you for your attention to this issue. I look forward to your response. I've stayed at this hotel before and had a great experience a few years ago, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case this time. During my two-night stay, I didn't have any hot water for a shower -- very frustrating, especially on day two when I ran the water from 7:15 to 7:45 AM with no luck. In addition, the shade in my room wouldn't come up after I pulled it down, and my room was located on the side of the building with all the air vents, which made it difficult to sleep. On a positive note, the complimentary happy hour with beer and cider was a nice touch, and both staff members hosting it were lovely. The front desk and valet staff were also kind and accommodating. Overall, while the hospitality was great, the lack of hot water and poor room conditions made for a disappointing stay compared to my previous visit. read more

Came here absolutely black out drunk about 4 months back. We were with some girls we met at the bar and in no shape to be unleashed upon a hotel. We (8 of us) stumble through the front doors and the staff just had that look in their eyes. The "not again, ohh god not again" look. Half of us went upstairs and started to party in a room on the 8th floor. Flash forward 30 minutes. Text from my friend "Get the F*&@ out now! Carl peed in the lobby". Luckily the guy with me was a former armed forces "Operator" and he quickly went into combat mode. As we spilled into the hallway he saw our out, Sprinting down the hallway he kicked the emergency exit trap door and we made our way down the fire escape, jumping about 20ft at the bottom to our salvation. Great Hotel, never saw the girls or Carl again. read more

I don't write Yelp reviews too often. I'm in the hospitality business and have a love hate relationship with them, but when you come across "outstanding" it deserves some praise. This was hands down the best hotel experience I've ever had. The genuine caring of the staff was there from beginning to end. Want a turntable?...we'll have it there in the room in 10 minutes, late checkout?...happy to, leave car later in valet?...how's 4pm?.....free beer in the lobby nightly, spiffy rooms.....very comfortable bed....only thing I'd add is a little more shelving in the bathroom to be able to have a place for toiletries. A minor quibble. These guys are pro's. They know their stuff and it's a hard thing to pull off every day. Thank you Hotel Max staff, we will be back! read more

AWESOME! Yes, the rooms are tiny, but where they lack in size they make up for it in service. Gary was also able to give us the parking tip that Street parking is free on Sundays until Monday morning 8am. The premier suite queen was amazing, thank you to Gary who took such awesome care of us. Unfortunately, we couldn't use either service during our 3-night stay because the hotel was at capacity, despite trying several times. Why the 3 stars? We chose this hotel specifically for the breakfast and gluten-free options, but unfortunately we couldn't get breakfast one morning because they were at capacity. Had we known reservations were necessary, we would have made one. The kitchen also seemed VERY VERY slow, both at breakfast and dinner. Our room was lovely, but unfortunately faced an area where seagulls and pigeons gathered day and night, so the view was disappointing and the noise made it difficult to sleep. Overall, it's a nice hotel with a lot going for it, but for the price we paid, I'm not sure I would stay here again. They also charged me extra after my checkout but not worth calling them- take sure you double check your balance! I'd also recommend checking whether there's a major event or game happening during your stay, as that seemed to impact availability of the hotel's amenities.

You kind of feel like you're staying at your "cool best friends" house. With an amazing bed... ...and super comfortable pillows! Bathroom was great, clean and stylish. My only issue was the mirror over the sink was hung for someone much taller (I am barely 5 feet). No matter, there is a full length mirror by the door and a lower mirror next to the bed. My room had a round, lounging chair and fuzzy rug. Loved it! Plenty of outlets. Great lighting (nothing harsh at all). Plus there are earplugs, though my stay was quiet and I didn't need them. Room temp was perfect, but you can adjust. I cannot wait to stay here again.

Plenty of restaurants, bars and convenience stores in the area.

If you truly want to cook, they have a kitchen downstairs for anyone to use, but with covid, it's closed at the moment. Trash bins and laundry on every floor which helps a lot since my brother and I usually hit up all thrift stores in the area the first few days. The construction across the street sucks lol it's been going on for years, but you get used to the noise since there is already tons of noise throughout the city since you're smacked down in the middle. Location is great! Close to the link, bus system is literally right outside the building and main places you want to visit are literally walking distance. The front desk is always helpful and kind checking in, during the stay and checking out! Con and it'll be the only con: it's a timeshare so once you check in they are on your ass! So run to the elevators right after you check in unless you enjoy the timeshare talks. Other than that, it's a great place if you want to see downtown Seattle and what they have to offer.

Let's be honest, this hotel strictly gets the job done... but just barely…read more I think the customer service is great, it is a smaller hotel chain, so you really get the immediate service experience, but there are quite a few flaws. The rooms are extremely (I get it, it's Seattle). The bed is a hideaway bed, which one down is really hard to walk around the room. Again, this just gets the job done.. it's it's right by the Paramount theater, which is where we were going, so I'm not gonna complain about the space when we only stayed a night. They do have a dishwasher and silverware and plates and everything so that did come in handy and we do appreciate those items. That said, the Camlin is kind of known for being... old. They don't have vending machines, they do have an ice machine in the basement and a small water cooler in the gym area (also in the basement). The TV - just terrible. I'm hoping they had DVDs somewhere that you could rent or borrow for the night, but I wasn't aware of when we checked in. Granted I did not ask, so if I were to guess, I would assume it would be in the game room located on the lobby. The TV was probably one of the worst things I've ever experienced in a hotel. The guide option didn't work so we didn't know what was actually available on the TV and we had to slowly go through the channels to see if they even worked. The service option is not really an option that Camlin provides, so I'm not sure really why that's on their remote. Also, the only plug-in for your phone charger is on the alarm clock that's located by the TV versus on a nightstand, but that's more because the bed is a hideaway. The other thing I really dislike is that the parking garage is not connected to the hotel. You do need to walk about 1 to 2 blocks, which is OK normally, but it does suck when it's snowing, or hailing which it did this weekend. Yay us! It's about $45 for a parking pass, which is cheaper than the more luxurious hotels, but again you get what you paid for and at least for the Camlin, they have reserved specific spots for the Camlin residence. We did find dried blood on our top sheet, this bothered my husband, a little more than me, the customer service was able to resolve this pretty quickly and noted it in our file. I have all the confidence that the Camlin will make sure that this does not happen again. Overall, it's personally a cheap day for me to go if I'm going to the Paramount theater, but if you're looking for something a little more comfortable, a little more bougie, a little more luxury, there are a few other options in that area that I would recommend higher. Now, I have used the Camlin twice for the penthouse suites; those are really nice. So if you can afford it, and you wanna splurge, I would highly recommend the top floors. Those alone, I would give a four star.

She actually created a miracle as we only had to wait for several minutes. Because we are Marriott Bonvoy Gold Members, she also upgraded our room and gave us a welcome package. Our room had a lovely view of the Space Needle - a Seattle landmark. Our room was very comfortable - a king size bed, two-night tables with drawers, two wall lamps, desk and desk lamp, floor lamps, small couch, low dresser with 4 drawers and luggage area above for 2 suitcases, hanging closets, with iron/ironing board, storage shelves for microwave, coffee service, ice bucket and mini fridge. The bathroom had a tub/shower combination, a large mirror, and single sink. A huge problem was the horrible toilet paper dispenser. It was hard to reach (behind you) and the toilet paper did not want to come out - they were caught on the spring clips holding them in. Really poor design! Also, the bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable. Our hotel room included breakfast each morning. Lulu had suggested we come down early and she was right. The first morning, the breakfast room was packed just after 7:00 AM. We were able to sit with another couple. The hotel offers everything from hot to cold in the morning. They had a lot of variety to chose from. I had a bagel with cream cheese and a banana and hot tea. My husband had scrambled eggs, pork sausage, English muffin, milk, and coffee. We were set for a day of exploring Seattle. The next day (Sunday), the breakfast room was less crowded. We easily found a seat. I enjoyed scrambled eggs and toast. My husband scrambled eggs, Swiss and spinach quiche, pork sausage, English muffin, coffee and milk.

There aren't many amenities, like you can't buy a soda or snack. In fact there is no food options. The only drink option is water which can be used to tea or coffee. There is a small centralized kitchen, should you bring food or drink. The digital door codes is helpful and probably the most advanced thing going on here. The people who work there are very kind and helpful. Probably the best part of it. Those are the pros. The cons... 1. No AC. It's Summer time and the rooms get sweltering. I showered at least 4 times a day. 2. It's noisy! You can't sleep with the Windows open because the bus, people, cars Etc. are right there outside your window. 3. Getting a bathroom in you room is a "Premium" upgrade you pay extra for. 4. Room service (changing of sheets and new towels is a "Premium" upgrade you pay extra for. 5. There is no elevator. You are carrying everything up stairs. 6. There is a loft on the 4th floor that is roomy however during Summer the other guest referred to it as the sauna. 7. The shower you do pay extra for is tiny, I mean one person at a time and there is literally no room to turn around or in my case (6'4") you can't even stand all the way up. 8. The TV works sometimes. Some channels work, some do not. Roll the dice and good luck. 9. There is no ice machine. There are 3 ice trays in the freezer. And if someone doesn't fill them back up, you might not get but a couple cubes. 10. The room are quaint (tiny). I have a bigger closet at home. The rooms should not be more than $119, with the one bed, no bathrooms being no more than $99. The cost of one week here with parking was just under $1,500. I found that Stay Pineapple, University was only $86 more for a week with AC, pool, and all the aforementioned amenities + gym, included and only 6 mins away.
