My wife and I spent three nights at Hotel Marisol for the first time last week as an early wedding anniversary celebration, and we enjoyed it enough to consider the hotel again for a future stay. As other reviewers have commented, it is immaculately clean. Service is very friendly. And it's a low-key, boutique atmosphere conducive to those who are looking for a peaceful, historic place to stay. Check-in was very simple, and we had the option of taking the short set of stairs to our room on the third floor or the historic 1926 Otis elevator, still in operation. We took the elevator, as we had luggage, and alternately chose it and the stairs throughout our stay. Our room was well-appointed, clean, and comfortable. And when I say comfortable, I am referring mainly to the amazing bed--one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Once I fell asleep, I was out like a light until morning each and every night, which I cannot say very often when I travel. Our room had plenty of drawers to use, a small armoire for hanging clothes (which also contains the safe and beverage cooler), and reading lamps above the nightstands on each side of the king-size bed. One chair with a high back was in the corner. Plantation shutters concealed the window, which you can open to let in fresh air because it is nicely screened. The hotel has no balconies, so it is nice to at least have a window you can open. During our stay, you could hear a lot of construction noise from renovations taking place next door as well as the noise from a lot of military aircraft landing at the military base, but none of that took place during sleeping hours. Besides, if you've ever been to Coronado before, you really get used to the military flights, which are more interesting than bothersome most of the time. We're just glad someone is defending the country. :) The bath area had a nice sink and plenty of space on the counter and underneath. The shower was roomy and modern, though the half-length glass wall did allow water to leak out quite easily, as many of these modern configurations do. We took part in the delicious continental breakfast downstairs each morning, took advantage of reading in the comfortable courtyard, and also took in the Friday night wine-down with free wine and charcuterie board. Everything was done so well, and it was nice to chat with a few other guests. Housekeeping was done daily, and two Ghirardelli chocolate squares were generously left each time. Not much to complain about. Very minor things: One morning, the breakfast was refreshed a bit more slowly than usual, but it was completely understandable because only one person was handling that and the front desk at that time. The shower head in our room wasn't working completely right and could have had a little bit better water pressure, but it was no big deal. And the reading lamps were a little loose and also extremely hot to the touch, so just be careful handling them if they've been turned on for any length of time. We never watched the TV (though I did turn it on briefly for a few seconds, and it had a great picture and sound) and never turned on the heat or air since the weather was so temperate. The Wi-Fi worked flawlessly and fast. All in all, a great stay that we truly enjoyed. We didn't qualify for any discount this time around, but the hotel's website does offer some discounts if you book ahead, so I advise you to keep an eye on that. I know that we will!

Just absolutely stunning! We loved everything about our stay- from the chocolates and hand written note upon our arrival, to the simple but good breakfast in the morning. The courtyard was a tranquil and gorgeous spot to sit. Our room felt so clean and well kept. I loved everything about the simple decor and the beautiful bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable! We highly recommend the Marisol!!! It is in a great location, just a quick one block walk to the beach or to the main street in Coronado with all the food and shopping. I cannot say enough positive things about this hotel. If you're considering it, just book it!!!

This is an elegant little jewel of a hotel. Everything about it is charming and first class. Comfortable rooms with free waters in the fridge each day, plush towels, newly decorated furnishings, hair dryer, robes, complimentary bicycles and beach chairs. One block from the beach and two blocks from the Del Coronado Hotel complex. Beautiful secluded patio with plenty o seating. The staff was wonderful. They baked cookies every evening, had berries and yogurt for us each morning with Coffee, Fresh juice, granola, oatmeal, etc. Old fashioned Otis elevator from 1928 with scissor gate worked perfectly. Just a perfect experience. Our highest recommendation.

Complimentary champagne toast totally set the mood off right!

My wife and I stayed here during our wedding and cannot speak highly enough about the staff and our overall stay. The 1920s elevator is super cool and the rooms have been recently renovated which was a nice touch. When we got back from our reception we had a ton of leftover food and gifts we needed to store overnight in our room. The night staff was kind enough to help us with carrying all the items up to our room with us which was much appreciated as it would have taken forever without them!! The hotel's continental breakfast is also pretty good. Had we stayed longer, I would have liked to loan out some bicycles and ride around the island. I guess I'll save that for next time! P.S.: I recommend booking a third floor room for maximum elevator enjoyment and a nice view.

I stayed here with my pup. This is a beautiful hotel. Very clean and just beautiful. I love how close it is to everything. Staff is very nice! I docked a star only because I had a room by the stairs and on the ground level which can be a bit noisy at times. And there's no dedicated parking. But overall it was a wonderful stay. I will definitely be staying here again!

Beautiful little boutique hotel in the middle of Coronado village. We just happened to discover this hotel on Expedia and fell in love. The hotel staff is so sweet and friendly! The hotel is beautiful and so clean! Our room was beautiful. It's close to the Main Street of Coronado as well as close to the beach. They provide bikes and beach chairs to their guests. We rode our bikes with the backpack beach chairs to the beach. I would fly back from Texas just to come here and relax.

Great service. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Great view for our anniversary. Wish the price was more affordable. Otherwise I would come again.

I have been trying to reach this hotel for 3 days now regarding booking a wedding, and no answer?

How's the parking situation? I'm driving in.....

There isn't any reserved parking for the hotel - but plenty of adjacent and nearby street parking available.

Three cheers for Sandra and for the Del!…read more Service has gone downhill since Hilton acquired it. But we love this location so much we suck it up now and then to have a little staycation in this magical place. At check in time there was a huge line: the computers had broken! We left our luggage and got a snack at ENO Market. And luckily by the time we finished, the line had cleared and they had brought over extra folks to work reception. We were lucky to get Sandra who normally works at the more upscale Shore House on property. She was very apologetic about the line and also saw that we have stayed here at several times. My sweetie is Hilton Gold and they were initially going to upgrade us from our basic The Views room to a "Victorian room with a view". No thank you! Del veterans know that the historic hotel rooms are small and with no privacy, because of the courtyard. So Sandra looked again and managed to get us a beautiful upgrade to the ocean view room in The Views, which was amazing. And when we woke up, we had a note under the door saying we also had complimentary buffet breakfast at the veranda because we have an American Express Hilton card... and we also got $100 off our meal the night before at Serea! So in short an amazing stay that was an incredible value for the Del. Sometimes we stay somewhere else "cheaper" in Coronado and then come out and hang here. But this was a super deal. The credit card is absolutely worth getting if you like the Del! (last pro tip: service at the hotel can be spotty and the food very expensive if you don't have a credit. ENO market and pizzeria is the best value on property. But if you get Brett as your server at Serea, and sit outside, you are still sure to have a magical time!)

Argument with staff about providing identification again to get our luggage and our room. We were patient until my wife started having a difficult time finding her ID and I finally said she just checked us in 30 minutes ago "you don't remember us"? Staff says I check in a lot of people I don't remember you. After a little bit more discussion, she says your luggage is right over there confirming she did remember us. A little bit more petty bickering from Marriott employees than I'm used to and reluctance and resistance to take accountability for not providing up to Marriott standard service she gives us our room. It's not the room that we paid for which was a Bay Harbor view not a pool view. We are too tired and in a little bit in a hurry now to get to our restaurant reservation for the night My wife turns on the bathwater and it's coming out brown I go to see staff again. They say that an engineer will come up. I'm thinking to myself how an engineer will fix this brown water coming out of the tap. I go back down and speak with management. They change our room. I will never come back here. On a sidenote, the engineer told my wife the brown color was disinfectant. Apparently our new room didn't have any disinfectant in the bathwater.

The smell was so bad you could smell it a few feet outside of our door. We would wake up in the middle of the night because the smell woke us up. It smelled like mildew & mold so bad, on top of cigarettes and hospice. I went to call to ask for a new room and our phone didn't work. I moved the side bedroom table to see if it was plugged in and it was so dirty with bugs and lint balls. I didn't touch the phone again. I called from my cell phone to see about changing our room. She told me I could come the next day and take a look at other rooms that were available, but we were only there for one more night and we had plans with friends that day. The carpet is disgusting. The couch is so dirty. There were brown stains on the sheets of our bed. Every time the cleaning crew would come in, they would open every single window to the fullest to mask the smell. There's not a restaurant here so you have to go get your food and bring it in. There were dead bugs in the utensil drawers. So we used plastic utensils, and paper plates our whole trip. Our room looked nothing like the lobby. A motel 8 would've been better. Even the pool is sad. We were going to cancel our stay and book somewhere else, but we booked through Expedia and it's a nightmare trying to get a refund through them. Otherwise, we would've left after the first day. When leaving a manager pulled me aside and said he was going to comp one day resort fee for us because of the smell. He didn't have to do that, but it was nice of him. We will never be back unless they do a serious update. So sad because the location is killer!
