I liked that she offered a lot of customizable options. She communicated every step of the way and as a bride, I felt confident heading into the wedding day. Our package came with beach setup, an officiant, a musician, a photographer, and Helen's guidance. All of her vendors were perfect. Planning a wedding should be a joyful and exciting experience -- unfortunately, working with this coordinator brought unnecessary stress, confusion, and disappointment to what should have been one of the happiest days of our lives. From the start, communication was unclear and frustrating. We struggled to get a concise explanation of what services were included and what we were actually paying for. It wasn't until we explicitly referenced California's SB 478 transparency laws that we finally received a proper breakdown of costs -- which then led to a pricing adjustment. But even after that, just two weeks before the wedding, we were shocked to receive a final payment notice that was more than double our last agreed-upon price. When we questioned it, the coordinator backtracked on previous conversations and insisted on her standard pricing, completely disregarding the confusion we had already worked to clarify. For someone claiming 34 years of experience, I expected significantly better communication, transparency, and flexibility. Customizing a wedding package should not be this difficult or disorganized. The wedding day itself only compounded our frustrations. One of our most anticipated moments -- the "first look" as I walked down the aisle with my dad -- was completely mishandled. Due to poor schedule management, my husband saw me before the ceremony even began. From there, things didn't improve. Directions were unclear, organization was lacking, and important details were overlooked -- like the designated place for bridesmaids' belongings, which was only provided after the ceremony, despite us asking about it beforehand. Our contract also stated that she would have an assistant to help on the day of the wedding -- she did not. This absence absolutely impacted the flow and coordination of events throughout the day. To give credit where it's due, the flowers were beautiful -- especially my bridal bouquet, which turned out exactly as I had hoped. It was one of the few things that went right and added a special touch to the day. The only other silver lining was the photographer she worked with. He was kind, professional, and captured some beautiful photos. Unfortunately, several of our special moments include Helen in the background -- an unfortunate reminder of the overall disappointment. If you plan to use her as your wedding coordinator, I highly suggest reading through your contract with a fine-tooth comb and making sure you have an exact outline of pricing and services. Don't assume anything will be taken care of unless it's clearly written and confirmed -- multiple times. read more

The biggest thing anyone ever wants from their wedding are good photos to remember the day. The photographer she uses at $400/hr took 4 poses of uninteresting photos and barely touched them up. And, then provided jpegs, many blurry. We asked for the originals to touch up and were denied unless we signed some form we would never print or distribute them. read more

Neither of us had ever married before, so after decades of being single this was a huge deal for us. Everyone was a pro, starting with Helen of course and including the wedding coordinator, the pastor, the guitarist and the very friendly and talented photographer. Helen also helped arrange an especially gorgeous bouquet of red roses that really popped in all the pictures. The price was totally reasonable for a small beach wedding, and our guests had a delightful day. The location of the chapel is so perfect because right after the ceremony we had dinner at one of the local restaurants and then went out for drinks. I truly had a great time! I don't even know where to start!! I was first of all impressed by the affordability of getting married in Coronado, and on the beach. We had been searching for places and got extravagant prices for just ceremonies with nothing included, not even the officiant. In addition, other places didn't respond, or it took weeks to get anything back, and we didn't talk to any live person. From the minute I requested information on the website for Coronado Wedding Chapel by the Sea, I was immediately contacted by Helen who assured me from the onset that I had chosen the most perfect place to go in California... let alone Coronado. The pricing is magnificent! There is no better way than to start your married life off by not being worried about a huge wedding bill that you have to pay off. Second of all, you have instant communication if you have a question. Third, she can work out any situation that you can think of, and it will turn out flawlessly. The ceremony was awesome! Exactly how we wanted it... and the officiant was also able to roll with the flow even after I left my vows in the car!! ... the officiant was able to just keep going without a hitch and we recited them as if it was all planned. The photographer!! AMAZING! Our wedding photos are so gorgeous! He really captured our happiness and the chemistry between the two of us. Everyone raves how great our photos came out, and we couldn't be happier. We even had a hard time deciding which ones we liked best, they were all great!! We all stayed at the Hotel Del and had the perfect wedding weekend at the beach. 15 of us total and this arrangement was perfect -- The setting is beautiful, Helen's team makes the vows very easy, she special ordered my bouquet to carry and it was perfect. ** we also did a bonfire roast at the Hotel Del beach on Friday, a full beach day with games and water sports on Saturday, then dressed up for the vows with Helen's team on Sat night followed by dinner in a private room at Il Fornaio. We wanted a simple, elegant, and intimate wedding, and Coronado Wedding Chapel by the Sea delivered it, and so much more. Helen's 20+ years of experience as a wedding coordinator made our wedding a smooth ride. She's patient, knowledgeable, and always available. The whole process was stress free. She's very professional, always on top of things, such as giving us a list of local restaurants for our reception, emailing us instructions on getting the marriage license, and sending us reminders on what to bring on the day, etc. The Chapel itself is beautiful too! The decorations scream out perfection and elegance. The bride's dressing room has a private entrance to the bathroom, which prevents others from seeing the dress. At the alter, there are squares on the floor indicating where the bridal party would stand. All those details attest to how much thoughts Helen has put in the chapel. We had the ceremony and added an hour photo shoot at Hotel Del and the beach. All in all it was a great experience. I could tell everybody had a good time. I could probably sit here and write a small book on how wonderful our wedding day turned out to be because of Helen and her amazing team!Helen was accessible every step of the way, always very pleasant and extremely easy to talk with. We also asked her recommendation of salon (Coronado Bliss) and dinner after the wedding (IL Fornaio), and they definitely did not disappoint. This was both my fiancé's and my second marriage, so we decided to go simple, with only six other guests in attendance. However, even with the simplicity Helen made sure all the details were first-rate. I chose the basic bouquet, but how beautiful it was! I loved it! There was no need for decorations, as the beautiful "golden beach" and the sand dunes of the Del were our stunning backdrop. I cannot proclaim enough on how remarkable her staff was: from Pastor Mike, with all his experience and wisdom; to David, our personable, easy going, photographer that produced the most incredible pictures that will last a lifetime; to Chelsea, one of the wedding coordinators that guided us through the whole wedding day process making it essentially stress-free. Well, I only looked at one place to get married and am so glad I didn't bother looking anywhere else. We chose the Coronado Wedding Chapel by the Sea and got in touch with Helen who was so kind and helpful. It took us about 5 minutes to make up our mind. What a beautifully hidden treasure this place is. Helen was always available if I needed her even though she is a busy woman planning weddings. She never made me feel like I was needy or crazy which I hear brides tend to be. ;-) She took care of all of the details that I was not prepared to do since the wedding was planned in just 4 weeks. If I had a question or concern she got back to me right away and eased my mind completely. Our lives are so busy and we didn't even go look at the chapel until we walked in to get married. And oh my goodness what a fabulous surprise. The chapel was more beautiful than we could have asked for. It was EXACTLY what we wanted. Classy, beautiful and romantic. Helen made our special day perfect! I have to admit that I was probably one of Helen's more difficult brides, always asking questions and seeing if we could accommodate various situations. I'm so happy to have found Coronado Wedding Chapel by the Sea. They helped simplify, yet maintained a high level of elegance, for our wedding. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Helen, and most specifically, Kathryn, on the day of. From the very beginning, Helen was prompt with her emails (but not pushy at all, might I add) and the communication certainly created a very easy wedding planning experience. We selected the Simple Classic package, and for that amount of money, we got a bargain. Of course it helped that we had our own officiant, but we used that credit towards an extra hour of photography-- which is totally worth it because our pictures taken by David was a great experience and we are happy that he was easy to work with and didn't pose us awkwardly. If you are planning a small, simple yet beautiful wedding, this is the place to go. There is an affordable package for whatever you're looking for (unless you are looking to host 30+ guests), and there are not enough nice things that I can say about Coronado Wedding Chapel by the Sea. My wife and I just got married last month. The chapel is gorgeous! The staff was horrible! The camera man was very intrusive and pushy!!! Even after, I expressed no interest in him taking pictures of me, while I was getting dress. After the ceremony we we're rushed out of the chapel by the staff. If you wanted to take pictures of your wedding this isn't the best place to get married. Your not allowed to bring your own camera man. The package I got included professional pictures. We wanted a smaller intimate wedding and didn't want to go through all of the stress of a large ceremony.
