First, I would like to thank the staff for the prompt response (front desk and manager). We had a situation in our room which called for reinforcements to clean up an issue that we walked into from the prior guest. It was handled quickly and staff was amicable and stepped up big time for our visit over MLK weekend. Otherwise, the room was clean with accessible appliances and layout was good. The 9am breakfast was delayed by 15 min, not a big issue but was noted as we made plans for the day. The location is in a very good spot with the shopping district and beach nearby. On-site parking is a plus. The gym is a decent size with free weights, treadmill, and cables. Would have given 5 stars but the anomaly of the room and delay in breakfast made it 4 stars. I Would come back again, though, as it seems it was an off day unfortunately.

Stayed for 3 nights while we were having work done on our house. On the plus side, it is in a great location, right across from the Hotel Del, near lots of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and shopping. Rooms have at least a kitchenette, and in the lobby, there's complimentary coffee, tea and newspapers. They even have an aquarium and a live Macaw, which is unusual, but pretty cool. I wasn't a fan of our room (#201), a studio w/ Murphy bed and no balcony, might have enjoyed our stay more if we had a balcony or were in a 1 or 2 bedroom. I checked each day, but none became available. Also, thought the $40 resort fee (although disclosed), was high for just newspaper, coffee, roof top jacuzzi and optional use of the pool at Lowe's, several miles away. Also, had to evacuate the hotel one morning at 6 am when their fire alarm went off due to an overheating heater or something.oh by have been nice if they brought in bagels or something for the inconvenience. Just ok, overall.

I still have 3 days to go in my stay but...I couldn't resist! Came in for work and was so surprised by the views! Service across every part of the resort is so good (shuttle, food, etc)!

Great place to stay in Coronado. Friend owned a time share at this beautiful property across the street from the Hotel del Coronado. Built in 1992 there are 53 units. Centrally located next to just about everything you may want. Hotel is located at intersection of major street which does get busy so you may hear traffic on the street facing units. If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs. Street noise was not an issue for us. Staff are great here and service is exceptional. Well maintained with lots of amenities such as free use of bicycles, beach chairs and boards, jucuzzi and sauna, game room, fitness center, and social events. They also provide a welcome orientation and breakfast. We had unit 105 on the first of 3 levels. There is at least one free parking space for you in the underground parking. They also have an elevator, and laundry facilities. The two bedroom unit had a master bedroom with a comfortable king. The second bedroom had two twins with a sliding partition. The unit had two bathrooms, one with a jucuzzi bath and both had showers. The living room dining room has a gas fireplace and a queen size hide a bed couch. Two large flat screen TVs and DVD players are in the unit. Very comfortable accomodations. The third level has two gas BBQ and deck chairs to take in the view and was nice to hang out. Across the streets are plenty of shops and restaurants. Coronado beach is located in close proximity a block or two away. The unit has a small kitchen with microwave, cookware, dishes, full size refrigerator, two burner hot plate, and dishwasher. There is no oven. They provide towel and trash service twice a week for the unit and other cleaning is available. Had a very pleasant stay. Large open lobby with free newspapers and a mature 27 year old Macaw named Ms. Cody.

I stayed here this last weekend and greatly enjoyed my stay. I have stayed at most places in Coronado and this place is my new favorite. The rooms are very nice and well taken care of. The rooftop hot tub and patio area gives you great views of the city and ocean. The staff is very friendly. Erick was awesome and went above and beyond to get us a room that matched our preferences. Pearl was friendly and told us all about Ms. Cody who is the bird who has lived in the lobby for the last 30+ years. They also have a nice aquarium. We took the shuttle they provide to their sister property and the driver (Ernesto) was awesome and had some great recommendations. Even the maintenance guys and housekeepers we came in contact with were welcoming. I highly recommend checking this place out if you are looking to stay in Coronado.

Came here as a tourist in July 2019. We didn't book a room. We just toured the grounds and kicked it at the beach. The hotel has so much charm. The shops are nice but expensive! There's a restaurant and bar that lead out to the beach. The atmosphere is chill - I didn't get a chance to eat or drink but I enjoyed the vibe. There were so many people visiting. The beach is nice - waves are not bad. Good enough for boogie boarding. Water equipment rentals are available on the beach along with umbrellas. We scored an abandoned one lol! There's a bar and taco stand near the beach. The line gets super long unfortunately. Another bummer is the lack of public showers to rinse off. I guess that's intentional. This resort is a must see if visiting San Diego. The island itself is like a paradise. We biked from the boardwalk to the hotel. One of the many highlights of our trip. Ok, I hope to come back and visit this resort in the near future.

Sand dumped on the $800+ a night "kid friendly " beach cabanas. Sadly this doesn't capture the noise.

Paying $800+ a night for a Best Western, thanks to unruly under 5 year old next door to our beach cabana. Now, don't get us wrong, we have kids, BUT when forking out $800+ a night, we leave them at home, for us and for those around us. Sadly, not our beach cabana "neighbours," whose 3 and 5 year old dug up the garden, dumped bucket loads of sand next to us, and made a ton of noise. Not quite the wedding anniversary weekend we had hoped for. We called reception, twice. Emailed once. They seem not to care. Don't think any best selling authors would find their Wizard of Oz Nirvana here any more, lkus the sand castles created a ton of squeals and noise. If you're staying here, ask who else is checking in first. I'm sorry, but I didn't pay $800+ a night for crying babies. Been there, done that, this isn't the environment for it. And the hotel needs to understand what guests expect in the beachfront, exclusive part of the resort.

I treated myself to a spa day and had the pleasure of working with Jeanette, who was fantastic. The spa experience was relaxing, luxurious, and exactly what you'd hope for at a place like this. Of course, I couldn't leave without picking up something super cute from the shop--dangerous in the best way! We spent a lot of time at the pool, which was such a highlight. The service truly made the experience feel VIP from start to finish. Heather (yes, I'm shouting her out again because she deserves it!) was incredible--despite how busy it was, she made ordering effortless, quick, and fun with the best energy. Patrick was also wonderful on another day. You really can't go wrong with the staff here. A fun bonus for our family--my husband is a pilot, so we loved watching the planes flying by from the nearby Naval Air Station North Island. The kiddos were completely entertained and called it their own little "airshow," which was such a unique and memorable touch. We also dined at Nobu Del Coronado. Having been to other Nobu locations like Newport Beach and Chicago, it was interesting to experience this one--it's more boutique and intimate, which made it feel extra special in its own way. All in all, this trip was everything I hoped it would be and more. From the beautiful setting to the incredible staff (Heather, you're the best!), we felt taken care of every step of the way. As other reviewers have commented, it is immaculately clean. Service is very friendly. And it's a low-key, boutique atmosphere conducive to those who are looking for a peaceful, historic place to stay. Check-in was very simple, and we had the option of taking the short set of stairs to our room on the third floor or the historic 1926 Otis elevator, still in operation. We took the elevator, as we had luggage, and alternately chose it and the stairs throughout our stay. Our room was well-appointed, clean, and comfortable. And when I say comfortable, I am referring mainly to the amazing bed--one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Once I fell asleep, I was out like a light until morning each and every night, which I cannot say very often when I travel. Our room had plenty of drawers to use, a small armoire for hanging clothes (which also contains the safe and beverage cooler), and reading lamps above the nightstands on each side of the king-size bed. One chair with a high back was in the corner. Plantation shutters concealed the window, which you can open to let in fresh air because it is nicely screened. The hotel has no balconies, so it is nice to at least have a window you can open. During our stay, you could hear a lot of construction noise from renovations taking place next door as well as the noise from a lot of military aircraft landing at the military base, but none of that took place during sleeping hours. Besides, if you've ever been to Coronado before, you really get used to the military flights, which are more interesting than bothersome most of the time. We're just glad someone is defending the country. :) The bath area had a nice sink and plenty of space on the counter and underneath. The shower was roomy and modern, though the half-length glass wall did allow water to leak out quite easily, as many of these modern configurations do. We took part in the delicious continental breakfast downstairs each morning, took advantage of reading in the comfortable courtyard, and also took in the Friday night wine-down with free wine and charcuterie board. Everything was done so well, and it was nice to chat with a few other guests. Housekeeping was done daily, and two Ghirardelli chocolate squares were generously left each time. Not much to complain about. Very minor things: One morning, the breakfast was refreshed a bit more slowly than usual, but it was completely understandable because only one person was handling that and the front desk at that time. The shower head in our room wasn't working completely right and could have had a little bit better water pressure, but it was no big deal. And the reading lamps were a little loose and also extremely hot to the touch, so just be careful handling them if they've been turned on for any length of time. We never watched the TV (though I did turn it on briefly for a few seconds, and it had a great picture and sound) and never turned on the heat or air since the weather was so temperate. The Wi-Fi worked flawlessly and fast. All in all, a great stay that we truly enjoyed. We didn't qualify for any discount this time around, but the hotel's website does offer some discounts if you book ahead, so I advise you to keep an eye on that. I know that we will!

Our group included roughly 50 athletes and about 20 staff, and during the stay we had packages delivered containing necessary items we needed. The most concerning issue was a $150 "package handling fee" added at checkout. At no point was I informed there would be any fee to receive these packages. It was not mentioned when picking them up, nor was it included on the information sheet outlining other charges. I was later told it exists somewhere online, but if a guest cannot reasonably find it during their stay, that is not transparency. There were also multiple unexpected add on charges throughout the stay. The hotel advertises microwaves as an amenity, yet they are only available as a rental for about $25 per day. This became a real issue given dietary restrictions, and we ultimately had to purchase one ourselves. Other basic conveniences, like court access, also came with added fees, creating a constant sense of being nickel and dimed. For a property that presents itself as upscale, the room conditions did not match expectations. There was visible rust on the bathroom ceiling, the refrigerator was difficult to adjust, and ants repeatedly came through poorly sealed areas in the bathroom. The refrigerators knob was so gouged out I needed to ask help to have it moved from minimal to keep my food in the safe refrigeration zone. Overall, the experience felt less like a premium stay and more like a series of hidden costs. For a company of this size and reputation, that should be concerning. If you stay here, ask about every possible fee upfront, because not everything is clearly disclosed.

It smelled like mildew & mold so bad, on top of cigarettes and hospice. I went to call to ask for a new room and our phone didn't work. I moved the side bedroom table to see if it was plugged in and it was so dirty with bugs and lint balls. I didn't touch the phone again. I called from my cell phone to see about changing our room. She told me I could come the next day and take a look at other rooms that were available, but we were only there for one more night and we had plans with friends that day. The carpet is disgusting. The couch is so dirty. There were brown stains on the sheets of our bed. Every time the cleaning crew would come in, they would open every single window to the fullest to mask the smell. There's not a restaurant here so you have to go get your food and bring it in. There were dead bugs in the utensil drawers. So we used plastic utensils, and paper plates our whole trip. Our room looked nothing like the lobby. A motel 8 would've been better. Even the pool is sad. I tried to convince them to go to a more upscale hotel, but they were determined to stay here, as they have been doing for years. My dad is a retired officer in the military, and he loves to be close to the base. However, while the pictures on this Best Western site look decent, they don't reflect what the rooms are actually like. Our room was cramped, gloomy and dated and gave me claustrophobia. The sheets and towels were like sandpaper, and the room is shabby and dirty-looking. The only small window looked out into a dirty alley. This was the most depressing room ever! In order to open the bathroom (which was disgusting) you had to make sure the closet door was closed. Carpet was dingy and the bedding was cheap and scratchy. The blanket was 100 years old and the bedspread was like an old shower curtain. There was ZERO natural light and the room stunk of musty, damp air from a loud swamp cooler. The ice machine close to our room was loud and people used it all night. The amenities were non-existent (not even bottles of water, so bring your own). The faucet handles barely worked in the bathroom sink, and there was no hot water. The WiFi is terrible and there are no modern charging ports to use. Housekeeping doesn't replace the linens or even come in to make the bed like a normal resort, unless you request it. What's the point of going away to relax if you have to clean your own room?? This place SCREAMS CHEAP! If you like trashy cheap motels this place is for you.
