    False adverting 2 queens beds.

Horrible Management and False Advertising We booked a room for 8 nights. We were visiting my parents who have a place on the island, but we decided to get a hotel for a little more room since I am pregnant and have a 1 year old and 3 year old. (All that to say we were never really at the hotel. We left around 9am every morning and came back around 8pm every night for bed.) When we booked the room, we asked if the hotel was kid friendly since we have two very young children. They assured us they were. It a very small hotel with all rooms facing a very small courtyard with a very large in ground fountain. The lady that checked us in was great and showed the kids the fountain, letting them touch the water. On our 5th day I had a doctor's appointment, so my husband and their grandparents were watching the kids. Apparently my 3 year old ran up to the large fountain in the courtyard, climbed up on the 10" high ledge, my husband ran and grabbed him, he started crying so my husband and the grandparents immediately left the hotel so he wouldn't disturb the guests. I got repeated calls while I was in a doctor's appointment so I finally answered and the "hotel manager" immediately starts telling me that my child's behavior was completely unacceptable and this hotel is not geared for children, it is for romantic getaways, and the hotel is changing their policy on allowing children. Confused I asked what happened, since I was in an appointment, and she said "that fact that you don't know is why you are a problem". I said I am not with my kids I am at an appointment and that I needed to go. After talking to some people, apparently when my son started crying there was a hotel guest that complained to the manager and was upset that they allow children at the hotel. Instead of having any managerial skills or emotional intelligence and going outside to talk to my husband in person like a human being, she decided to call me several times and then berate me on the phone. After my appointment I went to talk to her in person, and I told her this was a single incident that was handled immediately and really did not warrant the inappropriate phone calls. She then started throwing out additional accusations of "other incidents" that happened and kept saying that the hotel was basically not geared for children. I asked what the other incidents were, and she said that one of the mornings I left my children unattended in the courtyard. Every morning my mother would come over and she would watch them for maybe 5 min so I could run inside and get the diaper bag packed. The manager is so inept that she didn't realize that the elderly person waiting with my children wasn't another guest it was their grandmother. Realizing that she screwed up again, she tried to double down and said, " your son also peed on the floor". That is when I started to get uncomfortable. I asked how she could possibly know that. My son few nights prior was trying to make it to the toilet, and he didn't make it in time and had an accident on the tile floor IN THE HOTEL ROOM (immediately cleaned up). I asked her how she could possibly know that. She started to panic then started back pedaling saying she never said anything she had previously said and that she had a recording of our conversations so she could prove it. I said great I want to hear that recording. She said no. I was so uncomfortable. I said clearly you don't want us here because we have kids and I am now uncomfortable staying here. I am happy to check and go to the Hotel Del. She said she would need to access the damage in or room, which again another bizarre comment, thankfully I had taken photos of the room when we checked in. I asked her to access the room so we could check out and she said "no I do that on my own time not yours" and if we checked out early she was still going to charge us for the full 8 nights because I didn't give her 7 days notice. This whole thing was insane. I have emailed her boss and formally asked for a copy the recordings of these conversations she said she had. Her boss wrote back and said she wouldn't give me other guests information, which I never asked for, and that she is looking into it, that was 5 days ago. As for the room... We booked a 2 Queen bed room. The room had 1 queen and 1 full, the floorboards around room were all dirty and damaged, there was a dirty stained rug, the sink wasn't cleaned, the toilet paper holder falling off the wall, very thin walls, etc. The free breakfast was basically powered eggs and frozen hash browns, nothing too exciting. The people cleaning the room would never take the dishes and glasses so we would put them outside. I would liken the room to a very nice motel. I had prescription for antinausea that went missing one of the days, maybe it got thrown out when they cleaned. I never write reviews, but this manger ruined the first vacation we have taken in 3 years. I don't recommend and if you say take photos at check in.

Best place my wife and I ever stayed. We came to celebrate our 22nd anniversary and first time in Coronado island. We really enjoyed our stay here. The people are so nice, the place is so clean and really takes you back in time. Thank you to Lori and Dana; they were wonderful and very welcoming people. Breakfast daily and Happy Hour every 4pm.

It was my last day in San Diego & we went to Coronado Island before heading back home. I honestly fell in love with the town & decided to stay one more night. We were looking for hotels & Thank God we came across this beautiful & cute hotel. It's so romantic! Such a unique a beautiful property. There are only 17 rooms, I stayed in "Kate's Room". It was spacious, comfortable, super clean & I loved the decoration. Excellent location, walking distance to all the restaurants, stores & the beach. My favorite part? You get a chance to borrow bikes! I took a long bike ride & it was beautiful! My other favorite part was my very own "coffee station" just outside my room. Can't wait to go back. Complementary Breakfast...& it was so delicious. We had yogurt with homemade granola, quiche, toasted bread & of course coffee and OJ. Staff was great! Everyone was so nice & attentive. Underground Parking available. I hope you guys enjoy the pictures I took of this beautiful, cute & enchanting hotel. 5 Stars.

Very short paragraph... hard beds. We went twice, this was our third time. We, unfortunately, will not be returning. We have to have a bed that gives. So many hotels and Inns are buying these rock hard mattresses. Some folks like them, we don't. We wish them well.

The service is terrible here, very rigid and stringent. You can not bring umbrella or chair rental pass 11 am, no earlier check in and parking. Only after 3 pm. If you overstay pass 11 am you will be charged $200 - loud and clear declaration from the lady at reception. Not like other hotels which are pretty flexible, considering we are a Hyatt loyalty members and we're referred to this hotel by them. The receptionist was very very unpleasant and uninviting. Our friends and us will never be coming back. The positives: The rooms are clean and nice but bad service cancels everything. Also very good breakfast considering limited service in the hotels. Suggestion: to put someone really nice at reception who can not only smile and be grumpy At the same time but who could be genuinely pleasant. People can always feel the energy.

This is my third stay at the 1906 Lodge. I have gone with my hubby for a romantic weekend, solo on a "Momcation", and this time on a girl's trip. I have found this boutique hotel to be the perfect setting for each. It is quiet, peaceful, and perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation. The 5 of stayed in one room together, the room is called "Star Park". There was one king and one queen bed, plus an oversized chair that pulled out to make a bed, which was surprisingly comfy. The room was plenty roomy, even with 5 of us. There was a small table and chairs, a dresser, sink area with a coffee maker and mini fridge (Ice bucket and wine opener included!), closet, and large bathroom. There is also a fireplace. The beds were comfy, loved the pillows. The bathroom has a jacuzzi tub as well as a separate shower. Soaps, shampoo and conditioner, and lotion are provided. Small details like shower caps, makeup remover wipes, and cotton balls and qtips are not overlooked. There is a blow dryer as well. In the closet you will find and iron and ironing board and a small space heater. The patio was great for relaxing after a long day, with comfy chairs and a table. The breakfast, which is included, is served on your own patio if you are facing the courtyard, same with happy hour. Breakfast was super yummy and filling. Juice, coffee, and mimosas were offered. Happy hour had choices of red or white wine or sangria, as well as an appetizer. T The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the beach right near the Hotel Del. We used the provided beach chairs and towels, which were great! (You could rent lounge chairs or daybeds on the beach if you wanted to) I enjoy walking to everything on Coronado. There are tons of food options, coffee, shopping, golf cart rentals, gelato, beautiful homes to view, and the beach all within a short walk. There is a spa across the street. If you are looking for recommendations, the front desk staff is always happy to help you find the right spot for your needs! If you are up for a longer walk, you can head right down Orange to the Ferry Landing. There is more shopping and good eats, as well as the Ferry which we took over to the Gaslamp District. If you plan to stay on Coronado and enjoy walking or biking/golf carts, there is really no need for a car if you are flying in. Just uber over. There is onsite parking, but I have not used it. Benny, the new manager, was impressive. We chatted with him a few times and appreciated him very much! We could see through his interactions with guests and locals that he is very kind and cares about people. The other times I have stayed were in one of the Grand Spa rooms - they were incredible also! Big jacuzzi tubs, large enough for 2! Overall, I highly recommend the 1906 Lodge, it has quickly become my happy place!

Beautiful Quiet Boutique style hotel/B&B ...close to a lot of shopping & dinning. 2 blocks from Coronado Beach! The morning breakfast's have been wonderful and mimosas included! Free use of beach chairs & bikes...afternoon wine & appetizers...very friendly staff!!!! It's been a wonderful experience, especially for 1st time to stay & play on Coronado

    The lobby

From the curbside appeal to the friendly, helpful manager Benny you will feel like you are staying in the very best version of your own home!! The rooms have everything you could need, even a separate wash cloth to take your make up off!! They offer a free mimosa breakfast and free happy hour that are not skimpy! They offer free parking, free bikes, free beach towels and you are walking distance from shops, restaurants and the beach! There are no words for the detail and quaintness of the building and grounds, I have enjoyed every nook and cranny here! I hope to visit here very often. Way more than 5 stars!

Of course, I couldn't leave without picking up something super cute from the shop--dangerous in the best way! We spent a lot of time at the pool, which was such a highlight. The service truly made the experience feel VIP from start to finish. Heather (yes, I'm shouting her out again because she deserves it!) was incredible--despite how busy it was, she made ordering effortless, quick, and fun with the best energy. Patrick was also wonderful on another day. You really can't go wrong with the staff here. A fun bonus for our family--my husband is a pilot, so we loved watching the planes flying by from the nearby Naval Air Station North Island. The kiddos were completely entertained and called it their own little "airshow," which was such a unique and memorable touch. We also dined at Nobu Del Coronado. Having been to other Nobu locations like Newport Beach and Chicago, it was interesting to experience this one--it's more boutique and intimate, which made it feel extra special in its own way. All in all, this trip was everything I hoped it would be and more. From the beautiful setting to the incredible staff (Heather, you're the best!), we felt taken care of every step of the way. As other reviewers have commented, it is immaculately clean. Service is very friendly. And it's a low-key, boutique atmosphere conducive to those who are looking for a peaceful, historic place to stay. Check-in was very simple, and we had the option of taking the short set of stairs to our room on the third floor or the historic 1926 Otis elevator, still in operation. We took the elevator, as we had luggage, and alternately chose it and the stairs throughout our stay. Our room was well-appointed, clean, and comfortable. And when I say comfortable, I am referring mainly to the amazing bed--one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Once I fell asleep, I was out like a light until morning each and every night, which I cannot say very often when I travel. Our room had plenty of drawers to use, a small armoire for hanging clothes (which also contains the safe and beverage cooler), and reading lamps above the nightstands on each side of the king-size bed. One chair with a high back was in the corner. Plantation shutters concealed the window, which you can open to let in fresh air because it is nicely screened. The hotel has no balconies, so it is nice to at least have a window you can open. During our stay, you could hear a lot of construction noise from renovations taking place next door as well as the noise from a lot of military aircraft landing at the military base, but none of that took place during sleeping hours. Besides, if you've ever been to Coronado before, you really get used to the military flights, which are more interesting than bothersome most of the time. We're just glad someone is defending the country. :) The bath area had a nice sink and plenty of space on the counter and underneath. The shower was roomy and modern, though the half-length glass wall did allow water to leak out quite easily, as many of these modern configurations do. We took part in the delicious continental breakfast downstairs each morning, took advantage of reading in the comfortable courtyard, and also took in the Friday night wine-down with free wine and charcuterie board. Everything was done so well, and it was nice to chat with a few other guests. Housekeeping was done daily, and two Ghirardelli chocolate squares were generously left each time. Not much to complain about. Very minor things: One morning, the breakfast was refreshed a bit more slowly than usual, but it was completely understandable because only one person was handling that and the front desk at that time. The shower head in our room wasn't working completely right and could have had a little bit better water pressure, but it was no big deal. And the reading lamps were a little loose and also extremely hot to the touch, so just be careful handling them if they've been turned on for any length of time. We never watched the TV (though I did turn it on briefly for a few seconds, and it had a great picture and sound) and never turned on the heat or air since the weather was so temperate. The Wi-Fi worked flawlessly and fast. All in all, a great stay that we truly enjoyed. We didn't qualify for any discount this time around, but the hotel's website does offer some discounts if you book ahead, so I advise you to keep an eye on that. I know that we will!

Our group included roughly 50 athletes and about 20 staff, and during the stay we had packages delivered containing necessary items we needed. The most concerning issue was a $150 "package handling fee" added at checkout. At no point was I informed there would be any fee to receive these packages. It was not mentioned when picking them up, nor was it included on the information sheet outlining other charges. I was later told it exists somewhere online, but if a guest cannot reasonably find it during their stay, that is not transparency. There were also multiple unexpected add on charges throughout the stay. The hotel advertises microwaves as an amenity, yet they are only available as a rental for about $25 per day. This became a real issue given dietary restrictions, and we ultimately had to purchase one ourselves. Other basic conveniences, like court access, also came with added fees, creating a constant sense of being nickel and dimed. For a property that presents itself as upscale, the room conditions did not match expectations. There was visible rust on the bathroom ceiling, the refrigerator was difficult to adjust, and ants repeatedly came through poorly sealed areas in the bathroom. The refrigerators knob was so gouged out I needed to ask help to have it moved from minimal to keep my food in the safe refrigeration zone. Overall, the experience felt less like a premium stay and more like a series of hidden costs. For a company of this size and reputation, that should be concerning. If you stay here, ask about every possible fee upfront, because not everything is clearly disclosed.

The smell was so bad you could smell it a few feet outside of our door. We would wake up in the middle of the night because the smell woke us up. It smelled like mildew & mold so bad, on top of cigarettes and hospice. I went to call to ask for a new room and our phone didn't work. I moved the side bedroom table to see if it was plugged in and it was so dirty with bugs and lint balls. I didn't touch the phone again. I called from my cell phone to see about changing our room. She told me I could come the next day and take a look at other rooms that were available, but we were only there for one more night and we had plans with friends that day. The carpet is disgusting. The couch is so dirty. There were brown stains on the sheets of our bed. Every time the cleaning crew would come in, they would open every single window to the fullest to mask the smell. There's not a restaurant here so you have to go get your food and bring it in. There were dead bugs in the utensil drawers. So we used plastic utensils, and paper plates our whole trip. Our room looked nothing like the lobby. A motel 8 would've been better. Even the pool is sad. We were going to cancel our stay and book somewhere else, but we booked through Expedia and it's a nightmare trying to get a refund through them. Otherwise, we would've left after the first day. When leaving a manager pulled me aside and said he was going to comp one day resort fee for us because of the smell. He didn't have to do that, but it was nice of him. We first came here when…read moreour twin boys had just learned to walk, and now at 2.5 years old, they've already created countless memories here--beach days, swimming, exploring, and so many "firsts" as a family. To watch them grow up with the Del as the backdrop has been a gift we'll treasure forever. Beyond the beauty and history of the hotel, the service truly stands out. We were so grateful that the team went above and beyond to let us check in early and kept us updated along the way--it made traveling with toddlers so much easier and stress-free. That thoughtfulness and care means more than I can put into words. This is more than just a hotel for us--it's where family memories are made, and we look forward to creating many more in the years ahead.

The main thing, for me was the fact that the entire staff went over and above to accommodate and assist with small issues.

They asked us to drive and stay here with them here at the Best Western Plus. I tried to convince them to go to a more upscale hotel, but they were determined to stay here, as they have been doing for years. My dad is a retired officer in the military, and he loves to be close to the base. However, while the pictures on this Best Western site look decent, they don't reflect what the rooms are actually like. Our room was cramped, gloomy and dated and gave me claustrophobia. The sheets and towels were like sandpaper, and the room is shabby and dirty-looking. The only small window looked out into a dirty alley. This was the most depressing room ever! In order to open the bathroom (which was disgusting) you had to make sure the closet door was closed. Carpet was dingy and the bedding was cheap and scratchy. The blanket was 100 years old and the bedspread was like an old shower curtain. There was ZERO natural light and the room stunk of musty, damp air from a loud swamp cooler. The ice machine close to our room was loud and people used it all night. The amenities were non-existent (not even bottles of water, so bring your own). The faucet handles barely worked in the bathroom sink, and there was no hot water. The WiFi is terrible and there are no modern charging ports to use. Housekeeping doesn't replace the linens or even come in to make the bed like a normal resort, unless you request it. What's the point of going away to relax if you have to clean your own room?? This place SCREAMS CHEAP! If you like trashy cheap motels this place is for you.
