We rented the Club room for my Sister's baby shower and it was a fantastic experience. Upon arriving, I was feeling overwhelmed with stress from putting everything together. It was a beautiful venue and Jesus was beyond helpful in making sure everything was perfect for the event. The view was astounding and perfect for our situation. The whole glass wall on one side opens to the beach and bay. They close off the walkway in front of the building and make sure to chase people away, if they enter. I found them and they were very happy I did. Everyone here are true professionals and Trust worthy. I recommend these facilities also due to the over all cleanliness of them. We visited this community center to use the fitness area for cardio and weights while in town for a wedding. The entire facility is large and nice but the fitness area is very small with dated equipment. It was sufficient for our workout and reasonable price ($9/per person). I doubt we would go back. Unfortunately our hotel didn't have a fitness room. read more

If you are looking for a fitness center/gym to use I do not recommend the Coronado Community Center. What dumbbell weights they do have are all rusting and smell awful. The fitness room is TINY and there is no where to lay a mat and workout unless you want to be directly in front of everyone on the treadmills.. Which they only have 3 of. No squat rack, no pull up bars, no barbells or weight racks, no kettlebells, no weight vests, no sand bags, and VERY limited bands, and mats. Oh and as a Coronado resident, you have to pay $6 to even use the facility! Unbelievable. Will not be going back & do NOT recommend. For how big the community center is, I expected way more. This is worse than a midwest motel gym! read more

We had our wedding here on 11/16/2018 & let me tell you if you have a small budget it is doable. We had 160 guests and rented the entire Nautilus room. We went with Phil's BBQ whom is very reasonable and delicious! You can visit their location by Sea World to try all their food! We had every guest raving about the location and the food. We were also able to stay within our budget (10k) with this DIY location. With a view like this, I thought it would be impossible to find a water front location that wouldn't break the bank. We hired Sweet and Salty bartending for the night and I'd recommend them as well, reasonable and professional. Although you can use any licensed vendors, It's a plus to use vendors who've worked at this location before. We brought in all our own alcohol from Costco & a huge plus is they provide the portable bar and ice at the community center. Even though they provide chairs, I opted to rent some since the ones provided didn't match our decor. I did have a day of coordinator to set up the ceremony site and also the reception area. This was a must in my budget so that family wouldn't be stuck setting up or cleaning up anything. Our DJ was "DJ Jon Beezy" and he's in SD, he's worked at the venue before and is familiar with what's needed for the outside ceremony as far as mics, extension cords, speakers, etc. I loved the fact that our wedding didn't have to be over by 10pm, we went until midnight which sometimes other venues don't allow. We stayed at the Glorietta Bay Inn in the Garden suite which I would recommend for the ladies to get ready, it photographs beautifully. Lastly, we rented a golf cart for the day/night, it was an 8 seater so we had a designated driver (family member) drive the guys to the venue then come pick up the ladies. This was a great idea so nobody had to drive and it's a short distance away. Then we returned the Golf Cart the morning after. Hope this helps & happy planning. read more

The only reason I give this venue 4 stars is because of the added fees (security, kitchen use, different rental rate for serving alcohol, and a fee charged to the caterer that gets passed on to the client) and restrictions (I asked about having casino tables for entertainment purposes and was told that there are permits that we would need to apply for). It's very important to read the rental contract before booking. Otherwise, this is a great deal for the room size and location. The venue has a commercial kitchen that your caterer will appreciate. Event: Corporate holiday party Total budget: $11500 Total number of guests: 115 The rental includes the modern dance floor, tables and chairs. Linens are not included. There's a preferred caterer and bartender list. If you have a caterer that is not on the list, CCC will allow for it as long as the caterer submits an application for approval within a certain time frame of your event. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this venue for weddings. Our event was in the evening and I've seen the venue during daylight hours. Beautiful pool and fitness center that is WELL maintained due to the ample $$$$ from the residents of the City of Coronado. I went here to specifically swim laps in their 50 meter pool. Great location for a one hour hard work out in the pool. The Tank and I had an entire lane to myself. I got to float with my two stomachs doing the back stroke for one hour without being disturbed!!! Nice clientele, GREAT lifeguards who actually have personalities and nice areas for laying out to dry your suit! Swim for non-residents is 5.00 with a .50 locker fee. Cheaper than a movie and this takes you off of the computer for a while. The view from the pool is of the Coronado Bridge and "Davey Jone's Locker' :-D! I bet that Capt Sparrow would be proud! One special note, if you are a climber, they have a big indoor climbing wall!! There is also a GREAT workout room that faces the water. Minus one star for the surly and somewhat bored behaving front desk people... come on now guise minimum wage is 8.00 bucks an hour. You are getting paid to surf the Internet all day and take people's money. Give up a smile or two every once in a while.. geez. read more

We had our wedding at the Coronado Community Center and had a great experience! Trisha Floor is in charge of the facilities rentals and she was really kind, professional and answered all our questions. Their team met all of our expectations. I did alot of research before booking this venue for our wedding and this place was affordable and you get a great value. Here are some pros and cons: Pros: -Beautiful Coronado location and views of the bay! -We had a smaller wedding and we were able to rent half of the Nautilus room which accommodated our budget. -Great patio space! Our bar was in the patio and allowed guests to have an indoor/outdoor area. -You can have the ceremony on their lawn and have the cocktail hour in the patio next to the lawn which is convenient for guests. -They provide chairs and tables for the event. However, we decided to rent our own chairs because their chairs didn't match our color theme. -Flexibility: you get to choose your own Nautilus room layout and how to arrange everything. Their staff will set up the room to your liking. Cons: -Must use their approved catering list for food and beverage services. We used El Tapatio and Bella Beverage Services which were both great and recommended by friends who had used their services. Highly recommend! -There is a fee that must be paid to the venue on your food service. -No live music if you rent half of the Nautilus room but we were happy with our DJ. Unfortunately we could not have the mariachi's play. -Book in advance because dates get full quickly! We had our wedding on a Sunday. -Parking is first come, first serve so we encouraged guests to take an Uber. We got many compliments on the venue and would recommend this venue. We held our September 2018 wedding at the CCC, it was a big hit among family and friends alike! I interacted with many staff members, but mainly Trisha. We decided on the CCC because of their flexibility with the use of outside vendors and that the allowed the customers to bring in their own alcohol to be served by pro bartenders. Their rental fees are very competitive for San Diego and more so for Coronado! We held our ceremony at the Glorietta Bay Promenade Park, which was stunning! Something to consider - as a bride that was doing a lot of DIY, I wanted to limit the number of things that I rented/vendors used, CCC does not provide any chairs for the GBPP so we had to rent them, no a huge added expense but something to note! We used the Ranch Catering for our catering needs and all of our rentals at the venue, they work at CCC often and know the property well. We rented our outside rentals, folding chairs for the lawn & the arch/arbor for the ceremony. We had a good number of guests visiting from out of town, and everyone was impressed with the ceremony views! For the reception we rented the Nautilus room along with one of the classrooms so I could do a dress change! The room was set up according to the layout. We did have a technical difficulty during the slideshow that my dad had set up, but CCC worked hard to resolve this as it was a last minute addition to our package. All in all, I would recommend CCC to anyone looking for a beautiful location for a wedding, such a lovely place for a fraction of the price! There as so many great locations on site to take pictures. We stayed at the Glorietta Bay Inn, so once we were done getting ready, we walked over to the Hotel Del to take pictures and walked up the beach path to get to the CCC, so many great photo ops on the way and on location! read more

My friend recently got married here, and the only thing more beautiful than this stunning location was the bride! The ceremony took place outside on the lawn, and you couldn't ask for a better background- it's right on the harbor. Stunning water views, the lawn is very well maintained, and there's a nice fountain as well. Picture opportunities galore! The cocktail hour took place on a patio that's right next to the lawn. It was really spacious so there was room for the mariachi band, all the tables, and for everyone to walk around and mingle. The actual reception took place indoors (the patio is connected) and was equally lovely. You can still see the harbor, and with the doors open you could see the patio all nicely lit up at night. There was space for a DJ and the dance floor was the perfect size- big enough for lots of people, but not so big that the tables were crammed together. read more

Good price to rent out the place for a reception but not worth the wait. BE PREPARED to get your application pushed to the next date and the next date and the next date.. I called the place and at first Wesley was friendly and acted like he really wanted to help. When I went to see the place and mind you, I had made an appointment with him for him to show me the place and when I got there it was a young girl who helped me and she did not know the full details of every question I had. I don't understand why he would make an appointment with me and then not even show face. Honestly, I looked over that and decided to still give this place a shot because I loved how spacious it is. There is no draping allowed. Nothing can be pinned on the walls, taped, etc. You can't really decorate this place not unless you put more money down to get pillars somewhere else. (thankfully I would have had a good deal from a catering company) Wes told me to submit my application and I did this 2-3 months in advance of the date I wanted with the $20 deposit. MOST WAIST OF TIME EVER. IT DOES NOT MATTER EVEN IF YOU PUT YOUR APP IN AND A DEPOSIT because no matter what SOMEONE ELSE WILL turn in an app literally 1-2 weeks before the date you requested and STILL has a chance of getting the place over you. Someone turned in their app a week before the date I wanted and Wes did a raffle and apparently the person won. I got pushed to the following date and one week later I get an email that, that date is taken as well. I wished I went searching for other places instead of getting my wedding date pushed back and forth. Honestly, they don't really care if you get the place or not because they apparently have a wedding every Saturday anyways. Glad I took my business else where and didn't wait another month just to get told again I didn't win a raffle or someone "booked" the place. P.S. THERE IS NO NEED TO TURN IN YOUR APP EARLY.. no matter what someone else will turn their app in and there will be a "raffle". read more

Your provide them with a floor plan of where you want the tables, the dancefloor, and the two bars and they will set it up. The rest (from linen to silverware to booze) is up to you. This is for the bride that likes to plan and can be in control. You can let your imagination go crazy here, but you will likely need several vendors. You rent the room by the hour. The average wedding reception/ceremony will run you about $2500. Try finding water weddings anywhere else for that! read more

The Coronado Community Center was the perfect place for our wedding ceremony and reception. When we first began our research in San Diego, it was difficult to find a venue that was on the water, allowed receptions past 10 p.m. and permitted you to bring in your own caterers/bartenders. The Coronado Community Center met all of our top requirements and was very helpful with providing a ton of options for caterers. A lot of our guests were traveling from out of town, so having the wedding in Coronado was an added bonus with all of the hotels, restaurants and shops within walking distance to the venue. We were happy that our guests enjoyed the area so much. On the actual wedding day 4/6/13, the weather was beautiful so it worked out well having the ceremony on the grassy park area adjacent to the patio. We then had cocktail hour on the patio followed by the indoor reception in the Nautilus room. With Saturday weddings, they require that you use the entire Nautilus room (they can make it half the size for cheaper on other nights), but we found that the extra space was nice for our guests. The staff did a terrific job with setup/take down and we couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. read more

My husband and I got married here in April of 2009 and this is THE STEAL the century as far as a beautiful location to get married on the water. We originally were looking at a bunch of hotels on Mission Bay but there were just too expensive for us. We got a permit to get married in the park right next to the community center. The back drop of sailboats and the golf course and the Coronado Bridge were just perfect. The banquet hall is really large and new and has doors that all open up to the water. We had cocktail hour out on the patio and had dinner and dancing inside. This place was really an AMAZING price. Not to mention you are allowed to bring in all your own vendors. INCLUDING BOOZE. I just had my caterer provide the handlers license. Talk about a savings. I'd say literally 20 times cheaper than something like a Catamaran or Paradise Point ballroom. Maybe more. read more

Gorgeous place to host an event or wedding, however it becomes very expensive and the management really let us down. First I would like to note, that the community center charges a 12% fee to any caterer. They do not have their own, and merely pass that fee on to the caterer which is then passed on to the client. The caterers typically charge 20% and then there is a tax of around 8%, so you are paying 40% in taxes and fees above whatever you choose to have catered. This is a great business model and is an excellent way for the CCC to make money, it just becomes very expensive for the client and it is something that should be made clear to the client who is anticipating a budget. The next issue was specific to our event as we wanted to have blackjack tables at our holiday party to have gaming for fun to win prizes. We met with Hannah Brown of the CCC to go over our floor layout a few weeks prior to the party and discussed where wanted to put the gaming tables. At no time did she inform us that we would need a special permit to have gaming tables, even if it is just for fun. I sent her the floor plan layout which had the blackjack tables listed on it and she replied "looks great." The day before the event Wesley Jones informed us we could not have the gaming tables as it was against the rules without a permit. Please note it is not listed in any of the paperwork that is provided to you regarding the many rules and regulations which are to be adhered to. Lastly there was a $500 deposit for the security deposit. We only received $400 in return as the CCC had to vacuum up some glitter from the event. We were informed of this by Hannah Brown, only after we asked why we were receiving less than the original $500 back. Please note she was CC'd on all emails regarding the casino tables and never once acknowledged that she dropped the ball on informing us of the casino table rules, nor did she give us the heads up on the $100 charge to vacuum up some glitter. Very unimpressed with the lack of professionalism on the management there. Otherwise gorgeous location, and I would simply like any future potential client to be informed of these things. read more

When you get your 9 year old to Hip Hop Camp you're expecting roughly what the brochures sell: whether your child is a beginner or experienced dancer, Dancers will learn the foundation of Hip Hop steps. This class is supposed to promote expression and movement... a fun musical environment with emphasis on coordination, rhythm, timing and confidence. You don't expect your kid to be "classified" as inexperienced and made feel displaced by branding. They don't realize what this things mean to kids. When trying to convey to an inexperienced teacher that the class should be about having fun, and trying to find a way to remotivate our son a very defensive and rude recreation coordinator made us feel exactly like our son felt... displaced, undeserving and unmotivated. In any moment of the conversation the coordinator nor the teacher were willing to help or solve whatever the problem was. Neither even cared about how our son was feeling. We believe this is the opposite of the mission of a great community center. read more

My husband and I got married March 28, 2009 with our reception at the community center. The ceremony was on the beach directly across the street with cocktail hour and reception that followed. It was very convenient for our guest to park at the community center and just walk across the street...there is plenty of parking! We were able to get dressed in a very nice room before the wedding and the backdrop of the Coronado bridge makes for excellent photos. The reception site is gorgeous. The golf course is across the water, there is the bridge in the background and all of the boats. They have a wonderful outside patio that was perfect for our cocktail hour of 150 guest. You can request to have the drapes in the room down while the room is being prepared. It also makes a nice dramatic effect when the drapes are raised, exposing the beautiful room. Our caterer Shellie from Martin's Catering had lots of great ideas for this site. She has done many events here and helped make the place look beautiful! We had the dance floor in the middle and tables all around. Our head table was on the east side of the room with our backs to the water. The stations were setup outside which helped the flow of the dinner service. The entire staff was very helpful throughout the planning process and helped to answer any questions we had. We were able to test out our slide show a few days before the reception which was great. This place is beautiful and I highly recommend it for any event!! read more

We held our wedding at the Coronado Community Center in January 2014 and had a wonderful experience. We worked with Kelsey and she was excellent throughout the planning process and have nothing but good things to say. The venue itself is beautiful, right on the bay in Coronado. We didn't need to spend a lot of money on flowers or other decorations because the site itself is so lovely. You can easily walk across the street to the beach to take pictures at the Del, the beach, etc. One of the things we loved the most about the venue is that everything could be held in one place - ceremony, cocktails, and the reception. As a bonus, there are a number of hotels in easy walking distance as well as bars for an after party. Our guests raved about the location and many of them made a mini-vacation out of the weekend. We also loved that we could bring in our own vendors for catering, alcohol, waitstaff/bartenders, cake, etc. You are truly in charge of all the details. We didn't want to spend an exorbitant amount of money on our wedding and we know we couldn't have had as nice of a day with as many guests if we'd had the wedding elsewhere. We had talked about using this as the location for our wedding and eventually decided against it because of a lack of available dates. The gentleman that helped us told us that a certain date was available but as we turned in the application and $25 fee he told us that our date wasn't available. In talking with him over the phone he explained that he had the date taken on his personal calendar but that he had failed to update their online calendar. DO NOT TRUST THE ONLINE CALENDAR... many of the dates he gave us after this showed different availability. He also said over the phone that because of the mistake he would refund the $25 fee that we paid to hold an optional date. This was a lie. When we couldn't find a date that worked we asked for the refund and he refused. We didn't get it in writing so there wasn't anything we could do. It's just $25 but it's half a tank of gas! We went on a tour of the facilities and they seemed nice, especially when you consider the price. JUST MAKE SURE YOU ASK A TON OF QUESTIONS AND VERIFY EVERYTHING THEY TELL YOU. This individual did not know his stuff and we had zero confidence we could trust his answers unless we had them in writing (GET IT IN WRITING!!). read more

I was married at The Coronado Community Center in September 2010. The staff was on their game the entire time! Start to finish!! The price is fabulous, the staff is awesome without being overbearing, and were so VERY helpful for this out of town bride(I was a local for many years, so that helped a little). Their list of approved catering companies grows constantly, and is easily accessible through their website, which is updated often! We used the promenade park for our ceremony, and there are 2 palm trees at facing the center, like the were meant to be an arch! The site was SUPER clean(even with our wedding being on a holiday), the staff was attentive and I cannot say enough good things about them! The only drawback I could see was that they do not have a mic on site to use, but that was easily and cheaply rented. :) I opted not to rent classrooms to to use a "green rooms", the men's and women's locker rooms were clean and neat, and gave us more than enough room to get ready. While the locker rooms are open to the public, they also have the "bathroom" and "mirrors" built in, so your party does not have run back and forth using these things. If you have more than a few bridesmaids/groomsmen, etc I would suggest spending the extra money to rent the classrooms. read more

I had a wedding & reception held on 11/12/18 and the venue was accommodating and informative. I met with the venue three times, the initial walk through before reserving, a walk through with my planner and then my final walk through with my parents, Trisha & the planner. Whatever the venue was able to do, they did... tables, trash cans & bar tables to my specifications. Although the catering fees that are passed on to the client via the caterer are a bit exorbitant and frustrating, it is Coronado, so just be prepared to spend money for what you truly want. It was also annoying that in order to decorate the venue how I truly wanted, I would have had to rent pillars and piping frames to do it. I'm grateful that in the end my vision came to life and was so beautiful, but for the prices I paid (it was the most expensive aspect of the whole budget), you'd think they would allow a little more. read more

We booked this venue late last year for our wedding 2 weeks ago. The site, the views, and the building alone made it a steal. But the staff put it over the top! Trisha and her crew were as professional as it gets with us. They (mostly she!) put up with numerous phone calls, emails, surprise drop-ins and repetitive questions by us as our big day neared. She always answered with a smile, even when she would have been well within her rights to tell me to leave her alone lol. We cant thank the staff enough for their work for us and patience with us. This is a great place to hold a wedding or other outdoor event where you need a large open space. There is room for a good sized ceremony to be set up and the reception hall is a very good size. You can bring in your caterers, florists, etc to really personalize the place. We have shot a couple weddings here and it has tons of cool places for pictures, both of the bay, the San Diego skyline and views of the Hotel Del.
