Just Java was a great experience with good price venue also elegant and incredible service and excellent location

After reading the reviews online, I was a bit hesitant to move forward with this venue for my daughter's XV. However, when I went in to inquire pricing it was very straightforward and with no hidden fees. This alone kept my interest after shopping around for months. The package was affordable and mostly all inclusive ( I was responsible for cake and booze). It was a bonus that Tanya was a great communicator, patient (I had A LOT of questions) and flexible. My deciding factors for the 5 stars are as follows: 1. Bartender and Captain: Pablo, the bartender, was a sweetheart! He engaged with my guests, was always smiling and was very polite. Not only did he make sure that my husband and I were taken care of but he also made sure my guests all felt like VIP's. I appreciated the professionalism in also ensuring that there was no underage drinking. Captain Robert, ensured that the dinner service ran smoothly and offered to heat up the water for my Maruchan bar. He maintained professionalism, kindness and made sure I didn't need anything throughout the night. 2. Security: Leo was truly remarkable. He played so many roles beyond security (which he did a great job at). He helped in so many ways and handled business so that I can enjoy my daughter's party from the beginning, the middle to the end of the night. He maintained another level professionalism. My sister even mentioned how he went out of his way to help unload items for our Maruchan bar from her car at some point. Leo also made sure my husband always had a drink in hand. All the while being polite and professional when he had to cut off one of my guests who had a little too much fun. 3. Food and Cake: Just Wow! All my guests were raving about it days after the party. We had the Cesar Salad, Cordon Blu Chicken, with the German Potatoes, and Alfredo Pasta (yes, we love our carbs!). For my vegetarian guests, they served vegetable lasagna. I ended up ordering cake through the venue for an additional fee and it did not disappoint. Guests were also raving about it. We ordered the white cake with strawberry filling and the other flavor was Marble with Bavarian. 4. The flexibility: I loved that the venue was flexible and allowed me to bring in my own vendors from my Photo Booth, Shot Cart, Paleta Cart, Merch Stand, Maruchan bar and Tosti bar. 5. Decor: I will be honest, I wasn't crazy about the options for the decor however, Tanya and her team made it work and brought our vision to reality. Again, she was very patient with me during the planning process. 6. DJ: After reading the reviews, I was nervous. However, he had people on the dance floor all night and to me that is a win and even had lights and balloons to keep the party going. My only caveat is that for my daughter's picture slideshow, he played the brindis song over the song she had originally chosen. However, this may have been a slight miscommunication. Other than that, he was a great MC/DJ. 7. The photographer and videographer: I hired their in house photographer for an additional fee. I did not catch the photographer's name and I have yet to see the photos so I will update this once we get them. They said it would take about 4-6 weeks. We are on week 4. Videographer: He showed up on time and had great ideas for the video. He maintained professionalism and everything ran smoothly. We are still waiting on the video, I will update this when I receive it. Overall, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure that your evening runs smoothly. I have to give my experience and you make your decision. There was a lack of communication between staff. Tables were not set up like I needed. Chairs were not set up for the blessing as I asked for. an employee took my cousins phone and then denied it(it was early only staff and my cousin was there) when we pinged it it was behind the wall where only he had access. Dj communicated two days before and played happy birthday song after I asked him to stop he declined to do so. He played good music but you can't discuss the timeline the day off. Bartender is not nice I suggest you hire your own. Photobooth was included and she shut down early and started late. The service of the staff is a reflection of the owner. if you do your event here make sure communication is solid between owners and employee. I had to set stuff up and they said start bring stuff at 12 when we do they say we have no space. Allegedly the female employee said they didn't sweep or mop and my event started at 5pm and it was 4?! Hopefully everyone learned from this read more

The photographer that was taking pictures of the big day ruined the day for me . He was soo rude. I simply told him I didn't want to take pictures With Is random people in the background and his response was " are you taking the pictures". I just had my daughters Quinceañera at this hall this past weekend. It's a beautiful hall at a very affordable price. The owner and her daughter are wonderful people and they were very helpful. The head waiter was also very helpful. However, I did have 3 issues: 1) The DJ. I think the DJ is one of the main components of a party. I gave him a few playlist that I know our guest would like. He only played the dinner playlist, the rest of the time he played music that he wanted.. My daughter kept on asking me to go speak to him and every time I would go speak to him he was either on Facebook or WhatsApp. I think that is the reason the music completely stopped 3-4 times during the party, because he was not paying attention. So I recommend outsourcing with the DJ. 2) Photo Booth pictures.. please proofread them. No one asked me what I wanted it to say. I never once went in the photo booth or see any pictures until the end of the night since I was so busy. My daughter's photo booth pictures say "Mia XV's" instead of "Mia's XV". 3) The Bartender. A lot of our guest complained about the bartender, they informed me he was being very rude. He was acting like a teenager giving attitude and rolling his eyes at our guest. I think a few of my guest even asked him if he was in a bad mood. I would recommend this hall. But just book your own DJ, proofread your photo booth pictures and hope the Bartender is in a good mood the day of your event.. read more

This little gem is situated on 3rd in Chula Vista. Micro breweries and cute little stores within a stone's through of the venue. We had an amazing celebration for my aunties birthday. Can't say we are the best planners so having the owner giving us the time to help at every step was amazing. The place was emasculate and every time we tripped the staff was there to pick us up. My daughter had her 18th birthday debut here last night and I was very happy and satisfied with how everything turned out from start to finish. Tanya was exceptional with answering all of my questions and called me a few days before the event to confirm everything. The DJ was awesome and worked hard to make sure everything played out how we wanted, including the videos. I really don't understand why he has bad reviews on here because I was very satisfied with his work. We wanted a certain type of cake and the bakery they're contracted with, Chico's Bakery, did a wonderful job. The cake is included with the price of the venue, but because of how we wanted it decorated, we had to pay an extra $85. The cake was beautiful and delicious and my guests couldn't stop talking about it. The waiters were great! They helped me set up the dessert table and were fast with serving our guests. They always had a smile on their face and were available whenever we needed them. We had no trouble with parking. There was parking up front and also at the back of the building. We were told guests could park at the 2 banks behind the building. There were 3 roomy restrooms for the guests to use. Our guests were very impressed with Just Java and were asking me for information. We just had my daughters quince last night, 1/11/20 and everything was beautiful. Everything was made easy from the planning to the execution of the event. My daughter had a beautiful day and my guests said it was the best quince they had ever been too. Food was delicious, staff was very nice and helpful. We had to add an additional table to accommodate our guests and they were so great in doing so (additional cost of course, we understood no issue there) the bar service was great, I seen other reviews that stated bar tender was rude but I didn't have one complaint from any of my guests and I have none of my own. He did a great job. the Dj provided by San Diego Latin Dj was awesome. They played all the music our family and friends dance too. We all had a great time dancing the night away. The photographer too was great, followed us all day, even after a small hiccup with our limo service breaking down and being late causing photos after church to run behind. (Limo service was not booked through just have hall) I just want to thank everyone at Just Java for making this a memorable night for my baby girl. It was beautiful thank you. read more

This place ROCKS!! My daughter had her quinceanera this past Saturday January 26,2013. Let me tell you they are the best. I love the fact that they have packets for any event, affordable to any budget. My family and I decided to make some changes in the packet we had picked. They had no problems accomodating. The service was awesome, the bartender, servers, DJ, Photographer and Videographer where phenomenal. Let me tell you about their food OMG it was very delicious. I came here for my friends baby shower in March. This was my second time coming to this venue. The venue was well decorated with crystal chandeliers, plink and gold table linens/runners, and a roomy stage for the mother to be to open her gifts. They have 3 bathrooms, and plenty of space for the 60 ladies in attendance. The food was good. We had Caesar salad, chicken with creamy spinach sauce, steamed vegetables and fresh rolls. This was by far the best location for events I have been to. The packages have great prices... trust me I looked around town. This joint is family owned and operated. I loved the DJ... the music he played was awesome and had all types from old school to new hip hop songs. I had my Daughters Sweet 16 this past weekend , we have no complains of the dinner, waiters and the Planning they were very professional and worked with us every step of the way. I can't say the same for the DJ, I waited a life time for this special moment and due to what he did all night we were not able to enjoy like we had planned. He did not play the type of music I requested and multiple times we asked please change the music and he continued playing what he wanted . My family and guest were bored because all night he played almost the same type of music. My guest left early , now all I hear is "what happened to the music I am shocked to hear your music selection because that is not who you guys are ", my daughter was so embarrassed and so are we. All the money we payed and it came down to the DJ. he messed up during the formalities, he was not paying attention, The DJ was in another world not our party. His answer to my husband was he was trying a new program really. I am so broken hearted to have had put my daughter through this on her special night. I can't hit rewind and re do her night. moments like these are once in a lifetime . Very disappointed. I went for my cousin's Quince and was shocked at the Dj's selection of music. Halfway through the night, music blared a slew of unintelligible words including m-f, the c word and lots of f-bombing and it continued throughout the night. This is a QUINCEANERA. How on earth did this 20-something think those words were appropriate? Has he never heard of clean versions of songs? Beware of Just Java's choice of DJ. Unfortunately the venue offered a package that included the DJ and photographer. Too bad my aunt didn't have a choice! The photographer was just awful. She spent most of her night hanging out with the videographer instead of doing her job and taking photos. She missed a lot of moments because she was so busy criticizing the guests at the party (WE COULD HEAR YOU!!) and the photos that came back were sub-par. Honestly, guests took better photos on their iPhones than what she took! The only good thing that came out of the night was the catering service. The servers were quick and efficient and even took the time to bring some of us the self-serve items just because. They had great work ethic and I appreciated their service. My aunt has another daughter that will be turning 15 next year and will NOT be returning to Just Java for these reasons! read more

I booked the hall for my daughter's quinceanera because of the central location and the price was very reasonable. I have to say though, I was very impressed with their service. It was beyond what I expected! Throughout the night the waiters would notice anyone that walked in late and would serve them dinner even though I had set dinner for only an hour. I had a lot of little requests throughout the night that were definitely not part of their job but they offered to handle them for me without any hesitation. This place is nice, the price is reasonable $5,000 for a Friday wedding reception. The things that didn't make it a 5 stars for me is that when we were giving the contract to sign we had questions about the contract itself and it seem like the owner got offended about us asking. At the reception they were suppose to bring pizza for the kids who attended our wedding and they didn't do that. They end up eating the adult food that they didn't care much for and by the time I realized it was way too late to order it for them. read more

I want to give this Location 5+++ Stars they exceeded my expectations in every way, just as they said they would, the FOOD was Great, I still want some more, maybe I'll crash a party just to go taste their food again..haha.. :) .. the DJ was awesome they played the type of music I wanted and the songs I needed to be played, they created a great ambience for our guests, the servers were all great too, if you want to have great service at your Wedding or Quince or what ever you needed for,this is a great location, at a great price, my Husband and I were very pleased and happy to say they helped us with everything we needed and more, so we could leave that night and go back a couple of days later to pick up our stuff, all which was just left there for the servers to clean, pack up and save for us.. The hall itself is great. I've had multiple parties and celebrations here over the years and just had my daughter's Quinceanera here last September. The venue, food, DJ and bar tender were all exceptional. This is mainly a review for the photographer, Michelle, and videographer. If you can find your own photographer or videographer rather than doing the bundle package with the hall, I'd highly recommend that. The video, which is supposed to be a nice memento of the evening, is basically worthless because of the shots the videographer decided to take. They're random and when people were making speeches, they were all taken from a weird angle. Then, when filming people on the dance floor, the videographer just focused on one group rather than trying to film everyone who was in attendance. It's sad, but there's no point in re-watching this video because it didn't capture the night whatsoever. My kids took better video on Snapchat and with their phones. As for the photos, while they are good quality, it was basically the same issue as the video. The photographer didn't take pictures capturing everyone in attendance and my daughter, who was the star of the night, is barely in even a third of them. Most of the photos taken are posed and the photographer made the people she took pictures of repeat the same five poses. I got better pictures from other family members who took pictures throughout the night. Also, the bundle states that 500 pictures will be taken but the photographer only took around 400. And the last 50 were random shots of the candy table we set up. Last, these took forever to receive and they take so long to respond. I understand that they have parties every weekend but then they need more help with the turnaround. With the bundle you get to have 100 or so prints of the pictures of your choice but it took so long we had them just give us a DVD with the pictures and we'd deal with getting prints. My daughter's party was last year in September and we just barely finished dealing with the photographer and videographer a whole year later... read more

The venue is nice the food was good.Tanya has a great eye and captures exactly what you want with decoration. She gives great suggestions. Tanya's mother Laura is very polite and always willing to lend a hand when she is there. The day leading to my wedding I had a very sour experience with the photographer Michelle. Poor girl doesn't know what she is doing at all scheduled an "engagement shoot" around 3pm at the marina couple minutes from the places. Awful time for photos the lighting was horrible aside from the fact that she just doesn't know what she is doing. I myself am a photographer and save many mistakes that I just cannot understand how anyone can miss it ! it's common sense. We had to pick some of her photos for the slideshow and my husband and I had a difficult time because all of the terrible shots. On our wedding day she put all her photos in one chunk at the end of video just ruined it for me it was awful. The DJ didn't play any of our selection of music and was such a difficult person to speak to or get in touch with. The day of the wedding we hired a private photographer to do our photos because of the rainy weather he set up his portable studio in the Hall dance floor for the beginning to have family and friends get pictures with the bride and groom. The hall photographer invaded his space taking over each shot. She then rudely told us we had to wrap it up to serve dinner .... We had rented the hall for a certain number of hours and expected them to understand delays due to rain we weren't far behind schedule. Upon receiving our wedding photos I was again irritated at the fact of the poor quality photos and bad composition. When we met up with her she had me sign in a minute and took of to another photo shoot all the pic where bigger than expected making them blurry and the lighting had been adjusted making them look darker. It's just terrible she doesn't pay attention to anything didn't even crop out certain things. She shot some pictures of the staffs baby and he kitchen staff in the back rather than trying to capture decent shots during the reception In the end we ended up just going with their hall photographer and DJ because the package price was the same with or without ....if you didn't get DJ you couldn't use their speakers or anything for sound or lights...... Bummer they should really invest in a good photographer it would really help them Out. If I could make time I would camp outside the venue just to warn hem about that Photographer. So I just did my wedding here yesterday. Tanya was really helpful and I can always call her for info or if anything changes. She recommended me with this DJ. When we met him, he was cool and he seems like he understood what we wanted to play on our wedding. But on the day of the wedding day, he doesn't seem like he knows what he was doing. We were waiting for him to play the song so we can start the ceremony but he wasn't around, he was always walking around. We had to tell him when to play the music. We had a practice/rehearsal 2 days before hand, I don't understand why he doesn't know when to play the music. We had a problem with the food also. We brought some food for the kids and desserts. Tanya and I talked about how the food will be on the table outside and not inside the kitchen. Our ceremony started early and ended so soon so we had to wait for the food until 3pm. I understood that but just wanted the food that we brought to be brought outside so at least the kids can eat because everyone was hungry. The lady (server) that was in the kitchen, gave me an attitude. I was standing by the kitchen door and she just shoved off the curtains and said "excuse me" really loud. Like wtf? I paid for this shit and paid tips for her ass. It wasn't even hard to prepare the salads so I don't understand why they couldn't serve the salad first until the entree is ready. This place maybe cheap and Tanya maybe nice. I just don't like the customer service and the DJ. They are so unprofessional. And everyone seems like they don't know how to speak English except to one. read more

My daughter had her sweet 16 on October 11th 2013 and everything went perfect it is a nice and cozy place to have any party from the beginning dealing with the owner to the end everything went smoothing they really know how to decorate, they had the exact color of my daughters dress. My daughter misses that place so much she wishes she can do it again. The food was excellent the appetizers were super the dj was excellent the waiters and the photo booth was a hit.. The photographer was awesome the quality of the pictures are beautiful!!!!!!!!! I would so recommend Just Java compared to the other places around there this is a homey place OH and the cake was beautiful and taste so good.... Like I said everything was PERFECT cant wait to have another occasion.... would be 5 stars except. I came in to check out the hall and Spoke with Tanya about packages, at that time she said she had a couple days to fill for the month of my event and if i was willing to change my event day for one of the days she had to fill she'd give me a good price which she did. She mentioned that if i had 100 guest we'd get and extra hour ending our event at midnight. the day before my daughters quince we were allowed to come in for a practice waltz from 5-7 upon our arrival Tanya was not there and they other employee, never acknowledge us she was talking to someone and there was another family there practicing, about 10 min into our arrival there the other family asked what time was our practice and i said 5-7 she then said "oh! our is 4-6. so they over booked our practice time and we had to wait. we also had people that were going to be part of our event that came straight to the hall after an 8 hr drive from out of town. The day of the event again Tanya was not around. our event was scheduled from 5:30-12 with dinner being served at 6 pm. our dinner was not served till after 7 pm and and our guest were very hungry. Then at 11:pm the employees came to the tables and started removing table cloths telling our guest the party was over. when we still had an hr left. the Bartender was also very rude with guest the entire night. one of my guest went to ask for a drink and he stated that the bar was closed, he asked the bartender what time did it close? he said 11 pm my guest showed him his watch and said its 10:45 and he rudely said well tonight it closed 15 min early! very unprofessional. When I spoke with Tanya regarding this as our event was cut short, all she said was i did make an exception for you with only 100 guest as Saturdays minimum is 130 guest, when i asked her at the beginning she stated minimum was 80 and offered the day because "she needed to fill that date". Not because she was making an exception for me. I was very disappointed as she didn't try to make it right in anyway. So she basically said, Sorry i wasn't there. read more

I had my daughters event there I did look around and for the price and convenience of having everything included is why I chose this hall. I got the package and included the cake, food, decoration and d.j. I did take my centerpiece for tables cause my daughter wanted certain theme but I did meet and call the owner several times and was always polite and prompt every phone call was answered and everytime I stopped by the doors were always open for us. We did add additional photoboot and extras with the d.j. and the cake. It was worth every dollar I highly recommended. I set up this yelp account just so I can give them all a great review I am not a Yelper that goes around and yelps every spot I stop I just think that if someone does a great job they should b rewarded. I did read other reviews and I don't known why they did not have a good experience all my friends and family can't stop talking about how smooth and great the event was the limo driver, the bartender, the d.j and the owner were all great. This past weekend we celebrated my daughter's quinceanera at Just Java in Spring Valley. It is the same owner as the Just Java in Chula Vista. I have to admit that on the day of rehearsal I was not convinced of the capacity this hall could hold. I was surprised on my daughter's quinceanera. All of the 200+ people that we invited were seated and given service. At one point in the night there were no more tables, but Laura the owner, and her staff immediately resolved that issue. I have to say that I have never encountered a person like Laura in regards to hall rentals and party organizations. She is the most professional and sincere planner. Needless to say, everyone at the party enjoyed themselves to the fullest and gave excellent comments regarding their experiences. I can definitely say that what I expected went beyond and above.
