My first time at the Julep Venue was to attend an Oddities Expo, and even though it was super packed and the parking lot was full, I was still able to find street parking nearby, and enjoy the vendors! Snake Oil was in attendance serving up tasty cocktails, and the vendors were top-notch. I would certainly recommend this venue for your next event!

THANK YOU, JULEP! We just hosted our wedding at Julep last month and it was spectacular! The venue is a huge open space that can be transformed into anything you desire. I have attached pictures so you can see how we transformed it into a beautiful modern tropical disco! They have a fully functional bar, outside patio area, bridal suite, large restrooms and plenty of parking. Also, one thing we loved about the venue is its off by itself, so you don't have passerby's, randoms or outside activity to interrupt anything. From start to finish we fell in love with Julep! The staff is amazing, they went over each package with us and let us know exactly what we would get, they have flexible start and end times. Their preferred vendor list was really helpful in guiding us to find vendors to transform the space! We really couldn't have been happier with Julep, so don't wait BOOK!

Such a fun spot! I attended a Poshmark live party even here last night! This was my first time here! The vibes are great and this is a fun local for any social gathering! I recommend. Plenty of parking too.

Was here for a posh event and thank goodness for this event bc i had no idea this venue existed! They have a bar area that looks super cute and next to it there is a back outdoor area. The space is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. There is also another space that you can see as you walk up to the venue. Not sure about prices as i was here for an event, but loved the space. If looking for a venue for a small wedding, baby shower or other events i would say check to see how much prices are. They do have parking for the venue events.

Came here to tour what a pristine clean brand new smelling venue loved how cute the inside was. The bar in the back and patio area where perfection not sure if we will pick this place due to beverage package and limited catering partners they have but overall beautiful place perfect for someone wanting a ceremony and reception combo. They have a fantastic bar the bartenders are snake oil since it's the headquarters and the cocktails are top notch.

I came to this new venue back in February and had a blast. There were so many friendly vendors here too. I got to have my hair done, professional headshots taken, make chocolate, and of course eat and drink as well. Snake oil Cocktail Co. is located here, so there cocktails were nice and strong. There was plenty of space to roam around in their indoor-outdoor location. I really love how beautiful and versatile this place can be. You can have a wedding, corporate event, or a birthday party here. During that time, the staff told me that they were booked in advance already, so I know that they will do well once we can start holding events again.

This venue is beautiful and clean! Great location that is easy to find with good parking. The bar and outside area is very cute for any event and the cocktails and service were awesome!

First of all, the venue itself is beautiful. After seeing this one there was no need to look any further, we booked almost immediately. Adding all the wedding decor only elevated the space even more. It's simple & elegant at the same time. Secondly, the JULEP team was a pleasure to work with and answered all our questions in a timely and professional manner. Heather, Marisol, Tricia (and everyone else involved) were so helpful throughout the entire process. It really felt like they were dedicated to making my special day perfect. Another thing is, they are really transparent about pricing and that made us feel really confident in our decision to book here. I am so happy and grateful that my wedding not only turned out beautiful but also went as smoothly as possible, and I know that it had a lot to do with the fact that it was held here. Thank you JULEP! (Photographer: Michael Ares - https://www.michaelares.com/)

This Venue was so pretty. it is a large space that can be easily transformed for any event or ceremony. From the front of the building, you get a gorgeous view of downtown San Diego and the sunset! I think it was honestly one of my favorite venues i have ever been to. They have a great kitchen area as well, they allow outside caterers to use it! The owners of the building were great to work with. Next time I am hosting an event, this will definitely be the first venue i consider.

We looked at so many venues for our daughter's quinceañera and as soon as we saw Julep we knew this was the venue for us! It's blank canvas and open floor plan was exactly what we were looking for. We were able to transform it to our daughters dream birthday celebration....it was absolutely gorgeous! We loved the outdoor patio for our cocktail hour and were able to have a churro cart and a teens mock tail bar that were a big hit with all her friends. We also loved the rosebud room where she was able to change outfits for her different dances and hang out with her friends. But what really sets this venue apart is the team that makes it all happen. We are beyond thankful for Heather, Marisol & Vanessa who are truly amazing at what they do. The level of communication is a huge plus when planning such an important life event and they were on top of it all, every step of the way! All of our guests raved about how cool the bar was and how good the cocktails were from Snake Oil. And the bartenders were whipping up some top notch old fashioned drinks. Our guest also loved the cocktail graffiti topper we had on the welcome drinks. We rate this venue an A++This venue truly has it all!!!

During Covid-19 it's been challenging to find an outdoor venue to accommodate my entire guest list until I found Julep!!! I flew in from Hawaii to celebrate my 50th birthday in the courtyard at Julep on Saturday, March 20th. The experience from planning, choosing graffiti through their sister beverage company Snake Oil Cocktail to the night of the event was a great experience! Brindy responded to all of my requests/questions within hours and shared my excitement in creating an epic event! I had a DJ, taco truck, delicious cocktails called Eye of the Tiger and Xolo and anything else my guests desired. The staff provided were eager to please and delightful the entire party! I highly recommend this venue for a plethora of different occasions!

You don't have to look any further. This is your venue. We knew from the first time we saw it two years ago, but COVID delayed our wedding. We saw it a second time and we knew it had to be here. We were so beyond thankful for this venue and the team behind it. Vanessa and Heather are the easiest to work with. They both made our vision come true and walked us through everything. The snake oil team was exactly what we wanted. Their drinks were a huge hit at our wedding and our friends and family couldn't stop talking about them. The venue is a blank canvas and you can create your vision easily. Everything from our first walk through with Heather to planning our floor plans with Vanessa to our cocktail tasting with snake oil exceeded our expectations. We wish we could do it all over. Highly recommend.

Old Town

San Diego is our second home, so we try to visit at least once a year. Since Old Town is one of my…read morefavourite areas around town, I was pretty stoked to book our Friday, January 31, through Sunday, February 9, 2025 stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites San Diego Old Town. We stayed in Rooms 245 and 253 - read on. Below are the pros and cons of the experience: PROS: * On January 22, 2025, for redemption of a Premier Plus Free Night Award up to 35,000 points + 262,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, I reserved a Guest room with 1 King bed for 9 nights - no out of pocket expense, YAY! * After seeing the room rate per night lower, on January 30, I was able to cancel the redemption of 262,000 Marriott Bonvoy points and rebook the same reservation for a total of 254,000 points + the Premier Plus Free Night Award up to 35,000 points. I saved 8,000 points, double YAY!! * Aleandro checked us in. He was informative and friendly. The hotel was pretty booked that night, so we were assigned to Room 245, but he told us that we could call in the morning to move to another room once one freed up the next day. * We called the following day and Chris at the Front Desk was extremely helpful in getting us a new room. She even went to Room 245 to deliver to us the keys for Room 253. * Microwave, mini fridge, and coffee station in the rooms * All day complimentary iced water, coffee and tea available in the lobby * Onsite market in the lobby * We did not pay for the $30/night parking in the underground garage, but were able to find free street parking around the hotel. * Daily Free Buffet and Continental and Hot Breakfast * Very nice-looking property with fully functioning fountains and beautifully landscaped spacious courtyard * Front Desk team members Richard and Aleandro were super hospitable and amiable. We enjoyed conversations with them. * They are pet friendly, triple YAY! * On-site exercise room * Welcoming lobby with functional fireplace * Complimentary Wi-Fi * Outdoor Pool and Hot Tub * Location - I LOVE Old Town!! CONS: * Our first room, Room 245, was disappointingly run down and needed better attention from housekeeping; the ceiling squares at the entryway, between the closet and bathroom, were clearly old and needed to be replaced, the bathroom door and trim were also in bad shape, the bathtub was not thoroughly cleaned, etc. * Our second room, Room 253, was a major improvement, but I still gotta say - housekeeping didn't THOROUGHLY clean the toilets. * Room 253's walls were THIN; I could hear the neighbours talking, laundry spinning from the laundromat, and there was a constant banging from movement downstairs. * No safe in the rooms. Overall, I was very happy with our stay - awesome location, the property was wonderfully nice and well kept, our rooms were comfortable, and the front desk associates were remarkably affable. I would most definitely choose to stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites San Diego Old Town again, especially since they are a pet-friendly hotel (We like to bring our doggies with us wherever we go). They are currently one of our favourite places to stay in San Diego. I hope to return soon.

We asked upon the move if they could put the pack and play in the new room. (1) We let them know that we would not be around for the entire day, so they were welcome to put in any time, as long as it was before the time we got back, which we figured would be around 7ish. (2) Got back to the hotel man who helped us bring up our things said he would bring it right away when we saw the pack and play wasn't in the room. (3) The guy never came so we Called down and they said sure, they would have someone bring it up. We told them we were leaving again, so if they could put it in the room, they said yes. (4) We got back the second time and it wasn't in there, so we went down to the office and asked them for a 4th time and they said yeah they would bring it up right away. We left again and said we would be back around 10 so they could put it in there any time before then. They assured us it'd be in there when we got back. It wasn't. (5) We called down and they said sure thing, someone would bring it up. We waited and waited and no one showed up. (6) Husband had to go down there and physically wait while they brought it out and handed it to him. I don't think it should take 6 times to get a pack and play. They were doing renovations and that didn't bother us at all. It's nice on the outside and they do have a laundry facility which is nice when you have a 2 month old. Also, had 2 soap dispensers and 1 conditioner in the bathroom. No shampoo. Won't return to this hotel in the future.

I grew up in San Diego and have been to Old Town Historic District MANY times, but this was our first seeing the inside of the hotel. It reminded me of a hotel you see at the O.K. We decided to make reservations to eat there for Thanksgiving and were looking forward to a similar experience we had years ago in the dining room. It didn't happen. We were charged 20% for the gratuity in advance (to reward staff for working on Thanksgiving) which is a risk to hope that you'll get service at that level. We didn't. It was a buffet of cold food (that should have been hot) and ambivalent staff with the exception of the turkey carver & Dee the host who were both very friendly. We were seated outside and asked for the overhead heaters to be turned on which never happened. We asked for water and went though the buffet line and had to juggle our plates and lift the lids of the chafing pans & serve ourselves while 3 male staff in white server jackets stood in the corner conversing loudly in Spanish and ignoring our presence. We returned to our seats and still had no water. Eventually after asking again, we got water. No one came by again for quite a while to notice our empty glasses so we asked for a pitcher of water since apparently everything was self service. We enjoyed each others company and paid our bill leaving a restaurant that we probably won't try again. It's a shame because it could be great and they do have the indoor dining room that really should be offered as an option. People who come to Old Town probably want to have an 1872 experience which we did have many years ago in the warmth and nostalgic dining room with good service which we happily left a 20% tip for. Sorry to say, service has left the restaurant. :( I just saw my review from 2011. What a difference: We went for dinner on Thanksgiving day. It was helpful to see the menu in advance online and looked forward to a relaxing intimate dinner that would take us back in time. We were greeted immediately on arrival in the lobby by a beautiful hostess in a period dress and she took us to our table. The cowboy era string bow-tied waiter arrived just after we were seated and took our drink order and another gentleman brought us water (liked his costume but not his gum chewing). We admired the furnishings and wallpaper and planned to tour the saloon & hotel after dinner. It was fun to see the happy families and couples enjoying a Thanksgiving from the 1860's. The hostess came by to welcome us and make sure service was good and chatted a bit. I had noticed that their facebook page announced the presence of Albert Seeley's great great grandson was expected. That's cool! I like experiencing and reliving history and had watched the restoration of the hotel and restaurant on our many visits to Old Town. We've had breakfast and lunch outside but never dinner inside. This was a new treat. Our appetizers were the shrimp cocktail and blue crabcake. I had the traditional entree of turkey with succulent breast slices and delicious dressing and mashed potatoes and asparagus accented with baby carrots. On the side was tangy cranberry with something added that may have been grapes- I'm not sure but it was yummy! Kathy had the boulaibase with ample portions of shrimp, scallops, calamari, and sausage with a delicious broth. She couldn't eat all of hers but I did! Dessert was bread pudding among several choices. I know the grandkids would have chosen the s'mores with graham crackers, chocolate and melted marshmellow! The entertainment was the staff in period costume, some of the guests as well were dressed in Old Town Garb, (maybe employees of other Old Town shops? and the piano player and accordian music. Very delightful- some day we'll stay at the Hotel to wake up back in time!

This time around, it was just the 3 of us, to chat over some wine and apps. Had their April featured Pinot, which was amazing (had 2 glasses). It's good to keep in mind that they only sell their flatbreads on certain days and unfortunately, they didn't serve it when we went. So, instead we had the crostinis, which is perfect if you want a little bit of everything, but not sure what to get. My friend got the chicken Caesar wrap, and it was a lot bigger than expected. First, I still really enjoy the Carruth Wine Garden. It is nice to have an outdoor space to drink wine right in the center of the city. In general there plenty of parking ,and it is dog friendly. As far as the wine, it is very good. I like some more than others. More recently, I have enjoyed the Unicorn Red Blend ( a longtime favorite) and the Syrah. I love that it is dog friendly, inside and out. My dog loves going there and she makes friends each time. A change that they made recently is that the main garden area is now child-free, which was a positive change in my options, as it had gotten a bit chaotic in the past with children not being very well supervised. The still have a family-friendly outdoor space. In the past, there was always live music when I came. I was there most recently on a Saturday evening and was disappointed that there was no music. Also, the prices have gone up ($18 per glass). Unfortunately, I found the pours to be somewhat inadequate, though it depended which staff member was pouring the wine. They do not allow for outside food, and only make certain dishes certain days of the week, which unfortunately doesn't allow for many options if you are hungry. Water is readily available inside and outside. All in all, it is a lovely place with good wine to come with friends and your 4-legged friends. It has gotten a bit pricey, and I do wish we could bring out own snacks, but I still enjoy going and am sure that I will be back.
