We had our wedding at Lot8 in June 2023 and it was perfect! The look and feel of the space is very Southern California and despite being located so close to the 8, it feels very private as well. Decor-wise, the space does the heavy lifting for you so any additional decor can be minimal (flowers, vases, candles, etc). We booked our DJ (Shaun) and photographers (Ella and Brian) through Epic Events, which owns Lot8, and I really recommend doing so. It made the logistics so much easier and is a much better value compared to bringing in outside vendors for these roles. Kim was our coordinator, assigned to us about a month or so in advance of the wedding, and she was really wonderful. She helped coordinate our many DIYs (flowers, decor, alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks, desserts) and their drop-offs, arrangement, etc on the day of the wedding (and the afternoon beforehand). She also makes sure that everything runs smoothly in background on the day of your wedding so that you can totally enjoy the party and your guests. We used an outside caterer (URBN Pizza) and the logistics of that were very smooth as well. We did, however, plan in advance for who would run food, bus tables, clean-up and breakdown the set up of tables, etc. with a combination of staff from the caterer and Epic Events. All of our friends and family spoke really highly of the event space, and all of the staff involved in our wedding and reception. Can't recommend this place enough!

This venue is AMAZING. I'm a wedding photographer that regularly designs and photographs styled weddings. During planning for my white floral boho shoot, I was in search of an outdoor venue in San Diego and came across Lot 8. Let me just say that this is a little hidden piece of paradise in Mission Valley. You'd never know it's here unless you're looking for it and that is totally the initial appeal for me. The venue is an open air space enclosed by the most gorgeous wood plank walls, succulents everywhere, the PONY BAR!!!! Ugh, I could go on and on. I sent in an inquiry about holding my shoot there and got in touch with Nikala. She was part time at that time, and is now the full time venue manager - oh my gosh, she is literally one of the sweetest people I've worked with in the industry. She was so accommodating, helpful and fun to work with during the planning phase of my shoot, and when the big day came - event day! - she was there at the venue helping us with everything we needed. I can't forget this either... because all business aside, it meant SO MUCH to me personally. When I initially toured the venue, I apologized to Nikala about being a hot mess in messy hair and yoga pants because my 8 month old baby was preparing to go into a major surgery a couple days later - I was really an emotional wreck. She literally checked in with me the day of his surgery to wish us luck and send her thoughts our way. I couldn't believe it... never had a met a vendor who was so caring about a personal situation I was experiencing. That one act literally solidified how much of a winner this venue is. Thank you Lot 8, and seriously - thank you Nikala!!! I can't thank you enough for being amazing for my shoot, but also being amazing people with good hearts. I can't wait to use Lot 8 again!!! *attached are 6 of my images from my shoot*

This is a cute outdoor event space. I attended an event that was located at "Lot 8" and was pleasantly surprised how cute, spacious, and well decorated it was. Lot 8 is located behind Hotel Atwood in a parking lot. It's an enclosed venue and no shade. Our event was later in the evening so shade wasn't an issue as the sun was setting at the time. Parking can be street parking or in the Hotel Atwood lot that is adjoined to the eateries. This is small venue meant for a couple of hundred people. The decor was actually really nice with succulent walls and wall planters. There are some benches to sit as well, but not very many. Depending on your event, you may want to have more seating.

They lose a star for lack of communication from Nikala@lot8events.com never replied over at least a 6 month period, I had to visit to get another associates email. I booked lot 8 over a year prior to my wedding. Everything there was so beautiful! There were some small things that were forgotten, like soap in the bathroom. And trying to contact someone what a nightmare after I booked it. HOWEVER, I Ended up talking to Megan and Abi and they both were just the bee's knees! FINALLY answered all the questions I had, let me just walk up and plan ahead what wonderful people! The venue is amazing! I regret not getting table cloths, but they have wood tables with metal legs and the tops of the tables gave some guest splinters. So in that sense, I would recommend getting THICC table cloths, but EVERYTHING ELSE WAS GREAT! I wish I could get married again so I could celebrate here once more!

I can't even begin to explain how magical Lot 8 is and how amazing Megan and Nikala are! Both of these ladies are such beautiful souls who love what they do and take care of you as well! We just got married there and it was the perfect venue to say I do at and the perfect venue to party the night away. Lot 8 just added a high ceiling roof to one side of the venue too and that roof made that side of the venue look bigger and so cozy especially with the market lights. The walls are covered in greenery and succulents which added such a beautiful touch which actually helped with my florist cost with not having to get so much haha. Honestly I will be doing more events here at Lot 8 in the future. We had Megan as our coordinator and she is AMAZING! She is so kind and literally works her butt off to make sure your wedding will be perfect from the start of when you sign a contract all the way to the end! On the day of my wedding it was raining in the morning and she reassured me not to worry and that my day would be amazing, one the roof helped lol and two she literally did everything to make sure the rain wouldn't ruin the wedding look I had asked for. Well the rain stopped before we said I Do and Megan delivered on my dream wedding. She went over and beyond to make sure I was happy and that I had everything the way I envisioned it and also made sure we ran on time and that the reception ran smoothly. When I walked into the venue and saw my vision I saw on paper in real life I wanted to cry because it was even better. Your wedding day is such an important day- one you, your family and friends will always remember and here almost 4 days later I still get tears thinking about how amazing my day was and how beautiful my magical moody wedding was. Ladies! So you need a coordinator for the month or day of of your wedding. It's like a must lol so please go through Lot 8 and use Megan or Nikala. I promise you that they won't let you down. Thank you LOT 8 for everything - I'm truly grateful for all the love and kindness you showed me!! I could write more but I don't want this review to be like 12 pages long hahaha. Lot 8 will always have my support and my vote!! I will add more pictures when I get them in!

This venue is amazing! Working with the Epic Events Group to have our wedding at Lot 8 in September 2022 was truly wonderful and seamless. Our wedding went smoothly and better than we could have ever hoped for. One thing to note, if you are the type of couple that needs vendor responses ASAP or are trying to plan a wedding in a very short amount of time, I might not recommend this venue to you. The venue is BUSY and the team can only respond so fast to each of its couples. Nonetheless, they are on top of planning your wedding and make sure to have everything in place based on the timeline they set out for you. With a little patience, you will definitely receive a response to all your emails or calls. Plus, they were kind enough to let us have meetings earlier than the timeline noted, which made the months leading up to our wedding significantly less stressful. Everyone we worked with was kind, communicative, flexible, and easy to work with. Plus our guests loved the unique venue and had a fabulous time.

I went to a charity event at lot 8 last night. What a great venue. It was clean well decorated and had great amenities. The party started at 6 so the sun wasn't a problem and it stayed a comfortable temperature well into the night.

My husband found Lot 8 randomly online and it by looking at the pictures it was perfect for what we had been looking for. I feel like I need to start with the negative first because overall we loved the venue, however I feel this needs to be addressed: Communication. After booking a date with Lot 8 I had attempted to e-mail them on June 2 in regards to hiring a coordinator through them. I received an e-mail on June 6 that they would try and find out, I was expecting maybe a few days till they responded... But I hadn't heard anything in almost 3 weeks. I also tried calling the phone number on the website and it either went to voicemail and after a few times, the voicemail box was full. I sent other e-mails on June 26, July 9, and finally on July 16 is when I got a response that unfortunately they did not have a coordinator available. That's 6 weeks to receive an answer. And there was no apology or anything for the delayed response. Thankfully I was able to find a coordinator elsewhere, and even they still had a difficult time getting a hold of them at times. I absolutely loved the venue itself, but this was such an unfortunate occurrence that needs to be addressed, and seeing others reviews I know I am not the only one who has experienced something similar. Planning a wedding from out of state, I heavily relied on photos, videos, and reviews before making the decision to go with this venue. It's even better in person! The space is simple and perfect for clients to decorate as they wish. I feel like no matter if you have a few decorations or go all-out, the space can accommodate and look beautiful no matter what - you can really make it your own.The greenery on the walls make it feel home-y and the succulent wall is absolutely beautiful!! Our ceremony was elsewhere but we had our reception at Lot 8 with about 60 guests. We had the space all day so we started decorating quite early which was great. Lot 8 is a hidden gem, our guests really enjoyed the venue. Seeing everything come together was absolutely perfect.

Neat venue. I like the upcycled items. From tires holding succulent plants, wood fencing and pallets made into plant holders. The venue is outdoors on a black asphalt lot. There is some bench seating along the walls. And room for tables and chairs to be set up. Parking can be a challenge. However it looked lile they were working on this. And they were working on vamping up the sidewalks. This venue has potential. Not recommended for really large crowds. More smaler crowds to still be able to think that the venue is still desirable.

I had my wedding here last month! It was so beautiful, the succulent walls made for effortless decor. The coordinator, Nikala, was a dream to work with. Everyone was very flexible from the walk through, to the rehearsal, to the actual event, to picking up all my decor the next day! A HUGE thanks to Emily, Nick and Nikala! Such a beautiful job from a staff who put their hearts into their work!!

I travel on a regular basis. And when I do, my preference is to stay at a Marriott-owned hotel,…read moremostly because I can almost always count on my following top-five priorities being met: * Cleanliness: The rooms and common areas are almost always very clean. * Safety: Entry into the rooms is almost always via an indoor hallway, where entry is obtained through the front lobby or by key-card access into one of the main hallways. * Quietness: Whether I'm traveling for work or for pleasure, I like to feel well-rested for a better day afterwards. And, these hotels are usually pretty quiet. * Free perks: As an elite member of this hotel chain, most of the time I get free perks during every stay. These are usually simple (like free bottled water), but they're appreciated. * A good membership program: Marriott offers a very good membership program for their elite members. It gives me the ability to earn free stays for the future (for pleasure) by choosing to stay here for business. Within the Marriott chain of hotels, Fairfield is one of my favorites because the rooms most often have: * A comfortable living and work space * A good sized TV * A mini refrigerator * A microwave * A well supplied free continental breakfast * All-day free coffee available in the lobby Now, on to the details for my stay at this particular hotel, at the Fairfield by Marriott (in Old Town San Diego, California). The primary reason I came here was for a week-long business trip, but I also decided to have a lot of fun while I was here as well. For this reason, I came here with my daughter; I worked during the days, but then we packed the evenings with lots of fun activities. The pros: Every member of the staff here was friendly and professional throughout our stay here. I found the hotel to feel more homey than a typical hotel; it appeared to be a hotel that was originally constructed as a townhouse complex or an apartment complex, and then converted into a hotel. It was very pleasant. The all-day free coffee was excellent, as was the free continental breakfast. Our hotel room was very clean and fully supplied with what I would expect from any other Fairfield by Marriott. The cons: Even though I am an elite member of Marriott, I did not receive any free perks, like free bottled water, during my stay here. But this was only a minor annoyance. One thing that was a major annoyance was the parking structure, which was not sufficient for the number of customers here. The parking spots are incredibly tight spots to park in and there are not enough of them, which is the hotel's fault. To make matters even worse, several people who parked here during my stay felt incredibly entitled, with several of them taking two parking spots for their precious car. This is obviously the fault of the self-centered customers who did this while they were here. Their actions were really inconsiderate of others, especially when there aren't enough parking spots to begin with. I believe the owners/management should correct the parking problem for their customers in three ways: (1) they should increase the size of the parking spots, (2) they should increase the number of parking spots, and (3) they should allow the police to give parking tickets to the self-centered people who can't park legally. So overall, if it wasn't for the annoying parking situation, this hotel would easily be a 5-star worthy location with how nice it was here. Therefore, based on my experience, I am rating this hotel as "very good" (4-stars), but not excellent. If the owners/management put in a little effort to correct a couple of things, this hotel could easily become a 5-star worthy location.

Overall, our stay was decent. The breakfast area and lobby were nice, clean, and well maintained…read more The pool was also enjoyable and kept very clean. However, the room felt tight for our family of four. There was only one small table and not enough counter space for everyone's belongings. The property is older and could use some updates and TLC. Parking is underground and may be challenging for larger vehicles. We have a Yukon, and there were only about three or four spaces that could comfortably accommodate larger SUVs or trucks. There are also low pipes throughout the parking garage ceiling, so drivers need to be very careful to avoid damaging their vehicles or the pipes.

Most SD hotels are outrageously expensive, and my needs were minimal. My place (from which I was moving) is close to Old Town and I enjoy the restaurants, and another better-known hotel (national chain) had bed-bug reviews. So, having walked by Cosmo at least 100 times or more, I made a reservation - well in advance - for Monday night. The time arrives for my check-in (available after 3:00 PM). It's hot outside (over 90) and I arrive at 5:00 PM carrying minimal luggage. No signs to indicate how to get in, or where to check in - nothing (other than the historic signs). I end up walking around for 20 minutes trying to figure out how to get in. I even call the number - no one answers, and it goes to voice mail. No return call. After a half hour of trying to figure this place out, I finally find an open door - which gives access to the first floor displays (old bar, and an adjoining room). Again, no one is around - NOBODY. I finally see a door that says "employees only" and walk up and knock. Here's where the scolding starts. The fellow comes to the door, and aggressively says, "HOW DID YOU GET IN?!?!" Well, sir, the door was open. "WHY ARE YOU HERE?" Well, sir, it must be because I HAVE A RESERVATION AND I'VE BEEN TRYING FOR A HALF HOUR TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON! I then get a mini-lecture on how (1) this is "not your ordinary hotel," and (2) "the museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays!" (why that is relevant to the hotel part, we'll never know), and (3) "another guest must have left the door open!" Now, remember, I'm still sweating from walking around in 90 degree heat trying to find someone to check me in. It is only after the scolding and the lecture that this fine person finally takes me to the outdoor wooden stand that indicates only a place to check out (a key drop) - nothing to indicate check in. He then presents me with a list of rules, each of which I must initial (no smoking - no problem since I don't smoke - no cooking, no problem since I hadn't planned on grilling in my room - check out at 10, and other "INITIAL HERE!!!" rules. And again, the lecture on how this is "not your ordinary hotel." No TV (no problem, really), and some other rules of strict conduct. This is anything but a warm welcome to a paying guest, who made a reservation a month in advance, seeking only a quiet place to sleep for the night. Well, the place is not quiet. Since it's an old building with wooden floors, anyone who takes a step on the porch, or in another room, causes the creaky foot-noise. I will say that the room was relatively clean (the floor, not so much) and the AC worked, as did the internet. And the bed was comfortable. But beware that the website advertises a "balcony" room - no such thing, as the entire second floor is a shared outdoor walkway. So again when someone walks by, you hear ever footstep. But here is probably the kicker, and the ultimate irony. After all that rude, obnoxious scolding upon the non-check in, I rise at 6:00 and, upon stepping outside the gate, run head-first into a homeless person taking a paper-towel bath (half naked) right there by the gate. I attach a picture of this person, after he put his clothes back on. The point? You mean, all those rules and rudeness - for paying guests - yet no one monitors the outside to at least keep the homeless from using the porch as a bathroom? It is sad what has happened to Old Town over the past 3-4 years, with all the homeless now sleeping in the park next to the Cosmo. But really - you're going to scold me to coming into the building, yet allow the homeless to take up residence on the porch - right next to the access gate? I am usually up for adventures and appreciate historic buildings and experiences. As for the Cosmo, perhaps it is different on the weekends, when the restaurant allegedly is open and the outside courtyard is available for guest use. Personally, however, I would never recommend this place, and certainly will not return. It was an experience - one that is best chalked up as such. And as for you, Mr. Scolder - granted, you did offer an apology for your behavior. But, you should not have behaved that way, in the first place. Shame on you.
