We have been to Horatio's several times over the years and have generally enjoyed our visits there, but this last visit was terrible. We were there with a large group (22 people) and I understand that when you attend a restaurant with a large group one must be patient, but this was ridiculous. We were seated quickly and ordered drinks and appetizers. The drinks came out sporatically and we had to ask multiple times for water. TWO HOURS later they took our meal order and another hour after that the food finally came out - again sporatically. One end of the table got their food and 20 minutes later most of the rest of the table got their food, but the person sitting next to me didn't get hers for yet another 20 minutes after that. They didn't tell us about any specials. We asked about prime rib and they said they had it, but then came back 15 minutes later to tell us there was no prime rib. They also ran out of clam chowder. The food was OK, but came out looking dry and unappetizing. My plating at home looks better. We didn't order dessert because we'd already been there for 3 1/2 hours! There was no aknowledgement or apology for the terrible service. We spent A LOT of money there that night, but none of us will be returning. read more

Good energy from the concierge to our server and the other support staff clearing tables and bringing water everyone was smiling and welcoming nice young people moving around in comparison in my past visit there have been a much older crowd working tables at this establishment and I have been coming to here for many years. Today, we are celebrating Administrative Professionals Day me and my team and there was a special menu for this occasion which I thought was awesome and very considerate of the establishment. I had the open face crab salad as my main course everyone else had the crab and shrimp fettuccine we also got a first course of a soup or salad in which two of us had the blue cheese salad and the other three had clam chowder. The fettuccine seemed to be a hit as well as the Clam Chowder. I thoroughly enjoyed my salad and then we also went in for key lime pie dessert it was a huge piece so we shared a couple of pieces amongst the group overall it was the food was really good service was really good I think they could do some upgrades to the atmosphere in the restaurant cuz it's looks the same as it always has for like the last 20 years of me eating here but nevertheless I am happy they are keeping people interested in dining there. read more

Had a work-related get together here. Last time I was at this place was like 6 years ago. It was ok at that time. Today, our kale salad, drinks and Brie was surprisingly very good. Calamari was not that great. Our waitress was very sweet and polite. She was constantly checking on us. Restaurant looks clean and spacious. It was perfect spot for gathering and was budget friendly. Came here a few days for an early lunch. We were seated fairly quickly by the staff. The restaurant had a nice view of the ocean and the incoming and outgoing planes from Oakland airport. We ordered our drinks and it took while for them to arrive at the table. The business didn't seem to be that busy. That was a bit of a turn off for me off the get go. But then the service started to pick up. They delivered hot fresh garlic bread to the table. That bread was flavorful warm and soft. We ordered two of those that were complimentary. I ordered the Asiago crusted sole. This was a great dish and everything tasted really good. The fish was moist and the crust had a nice crunch and wasn't soggy. It was served with a side a rice and veggies. I would've preferred mashed potatoes over the rice. The rice was a bit dry. We also ordered calamari for the table. I loved that this was a mix of veggies as well such as artichokes. It was a nice combination. The others ordered the fettuccini and fish tacos. They said it was pretty good as well. I would give this restaurant a 3.5/5. Came here on a first date. The ambiance is really nice. It is on the marina so its super cute and has a romantic-ness to it with the dim lights and theme. The dining area is open and you can see the bar from wherever you sit. There is also lots of parking outside as they have their own parking lot. The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we had we needed. She also provided recommendations for food. She brought out bread. It was super chewy. There wasn't a lot of flavor to it, but it was okay. We also ordered drinks. I got the mojito and my date got the margarita. I loved the mojito. It was fruity and sweet with a little kick to it. The margarita was good too, it had a much stronger kick to it and was not as fruity but still very good. For food, we started off with an appetizer. We shared the spicy seared teriyaki beef tidbits. The chef brought it out to us. The presentation was really nice, but the overall taste, it was super salty! It was overly salty. Both me and my date felt that way and there was nothing that made it better. We did not send it back or say anything as we tried to eat it. Had it not been so salty, it would have been much better. This menu item had great potential but the saltiness really made it hard to give it a fair review. For my entree, I got the Crab and Shrimp Fettuccine, and he got the American Wagyu Sirloin. I loved the crab and shrimp fettuccine. There was either crab or shrimp in every bite. The flavor was really good and it was so creamy. I highly recommend. My date got the Wagyu sirloin and he liked it. He got double mashed potatoes because he did not want the vegetables that came with it. He enjoyed his meal too. Overall, the experience was nice. We were a little bummed because the bar closed and we weren't able to order another drink. We stayed at the restaurant beyond closing. The restaurant closed at 9PM and we were able to stay an hour past closing until 10PM. Eventually, the manager had to come and kick us out lol but it was all good. We definitely overstayed. To begin when I called to add an additional person to our reservation the gentlemen was dry and extremely rude over the telephone. Our server seemed to be overwhelmed and a little pushy, while we assumed that he may be new in the position. Our appetizers were cold, the server forgot to bring out our beverages, the entire tables steak temperature was WRONG, they lacked seasoning. The manager seemed to be disinterested in our complaints. My experience both with service and food was below standard. Especially considering the prices for the food. So let's start with what is always most important, the food: Chophouse burger: this was a very plain cheese burger with stale bread. The regular ingredients like lettuce, tomato, and a side of fries. It. Was. Not. Good. And how do you grade a $17 burger when an In-N-Out burger or burgers for 2/3's the price are way better. This is a case where I'm paying for the view of the water. All the food I saw my friends order as well as other tables looked drab and drearily made. The service was slow. Honestly I don't know how this place stays afloat. With the food and service, this restaurant should've sunken into the Marina a long time ago. Needless to say I won't be back. Too expensive for mediocre food and poor service. read more

Went in for a birthday dinner last night and it was such a pleasant experience, big shout out to our server Chad if I'm not mistaken, he was very warm, friendly, and informative. Thank you for taking great care of us. We started off with cocktails the peach side car & a dirty martini & the shrimp cocktail. Drinks were great & I absolutely loved the cocktail sauce because it wasn't sweet it had a nice horseradish bite to it which I appreciate. Main course for myself was the American Wagyu Sirlon which was flavorful & cooked to perfection, mash potato's were great and I am extremely picky about them. I thought for the price it was a great deal and partner got fish & chips. I would like to point out that it was very nice of them to let us sample some of the red wines I was looking for a nice Cabernet to compliment the steak & Chad went above and beyond when it came to picking out a few he suggested it really stood out to me the service he provided which made it such a pleasant dining experience, I've been a server for a long time so I feel it's always important to point out when a server goes above and beyond. So this was my second visit to Horatio's! The first time it was great. So great I had to bring my husband back! Now this second time it was stinking outstanding! I got the shrimp scampi I didn't take a photo because there are sooooo many of them on Yelp already but there was none of my husbands dish! He got the Grilled mahi mahi which was really good. Light and fluffy fish with an array of veggies like cauliflower and some sort of corn purée. He said it was really good and enjoyed every bite. This time I did order the lobster bisque which in all honesty was the best lobster bisque soup I ever had! Dip the complimentary bread they give you with that bomb butter garlic and I tell you your in for a real treat! The service is always pretty decent I do think for the establishment it could be better but the food is so good you can ignore it. Was seated promptly and given waters while we looked over the menu. The bread service did take quite long (over 45 minutes) and we asked a few times. My plate they was basically raw and on another guest plate they was overly shriveled up and also the ends weren't cut. Up until the end because I never got my creme brûlée dessert and I sat at the table for 25ish minutes waiting for them to clear our plates after we boxed up leftovers and paid the bill. I had ordered the crab sandwich without cheese but it's premixed so I ended up getting the French dip minus the bread. I was disappointed with it. Thin shavings of overcooked meat. My friend ordered the hamburger without bacon and instead of them taking it back, he just had to take the bacon off. Drinks came very slow as well. For almost $100 definitely not worth it. Rustic wood flooring, nostalgic nautical decoration and wall hangings. An amzaing signature cocktail menu and great wine selection. The food is amazing. We had the sampler platter with crab/artichoke dip, tender teriyaki steak bites and deep fried butterflied shrimp served with a special sauce. I've been coming here for years and it's been a while since I've dined here and decided to celebrate my birthday yesterday. So happy to say it continues to be delicious. The manager overheard that is was my birthday and offered a dessert. So very kind of her.We started off with the yummy warm bread with buttery garlic melting on top. It's so hard to stop eating the whole basket. I ordered the pan seared salmon and rice pilaf and seasonal veggies which was carrots and broccolini. The salmon was was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly as well. The rice was fluffy and buttery. The veggies were not overcooked and crunchy and flavored just right. They gave me a dessert for my birthday which so sooooo yummy. It was the molten lava cake and man was I in love with it. It tasted like I was eating cake with a fudgy texture. After that, things went quickly (actually very slowly) downhill. After trying unsuccessfully to catch our waiter's eye, I finally had to stand up and wave my hands to get him to come to our table to take appetizer order. The appetizers appeared quickly (crab/artichoke dip and burrata/tomato platter) and were pretty good, delivered by someone who wasn't our waiter. We told the guy that we were ready to order our main courses. 20 minutes later we still were waiting for our waiter. He made a couple of appearances on the dining room, but never looked our way as we tried to catch his attention. He even delivered salads to the table next to us, but managed to avoid eye contact before he darted out of the dining room. Finally, we asked someone else if he could come by and take our order. He eventually showed up and took our order...three of us ordered soups to go with our courses. Our courses arrived soon after (again, delivered by someone other than our waiter), and we mentioned that three of us had ordered soups that we hadn't received. They offered to bring out the soups and we said to forget it and just take them off the bill. We ate our main courses (seafood trio - overcooked shrimp, 2 scallops, and a dry piece of salmon; prime rib that was tough, even though it was ordered rare; and fish and chips with shoestring potatoes, half of which were inedible as they were soggy from the grease from the fish) and waited for the waiter to make an appearance so we could get our bill. After a little wait, the waiter appeared, carrying the soups that we had ordered. We told him that we had already said that we no longer wanted them and asked for the bill. He said the he'd get our bill. Three times he returned to our table saying that he was working on getting the soups off the bill....wth? We finally got the bill, paid it, and left, knowing that we'd never be back. read more
