HopUnion is across the street from the hotel where we stayed before an early flight, and it looked better than the snack bar at the hotel. What a find! Drinks are extremely reasonable: a generously poured whiskey sour cost $7, and a 23 ounce Final Absolution (a 10% alcohol brew) was only $10 ($7.75 for 16 ounces). Reasonable pricing extended to the food. A Brussels sprouts appetizer only set us back $7, and the three mahi-mahi tacos tacos (that's the name) were $13. The Brussels sprouts were tasty - cooked from fresh sprouts and drizzled with a balsamic reduction - but they were cold. This was not a creative choice on the part of the chef. The tacos were also tasty, fresh fishy chunks in tiny soft corn tortillas. They were served with sour cream and salsa, but were even better with the spicy aioli that came with the sprouts (which didn't need them). They were also slightly over cooked and also cold. Even the drinks were cold!! What's this world coming to? Seriously, the service was slow, but the server was friendly. The food and the prices are good enough that I will want to make the trip here again, even if iI'm not flying. But, I won't come here if I have to catch a flight. read more

Listen. They are overpriced in here. Once you get over that. My guy had to tell me that twice, you will enjoy. Probably 30 some taps of craft beer. Bartenders don't seem so knowledgeable as when I told her I like IPAs she proceeded to give me a blueberry beer to taste.. $8-10 for a pint of beer. We really didn't see much on the menu food wise to strike our fancy except soup. Rain rain rain n cold out so we had french onion n chicken noodle. Both were way above average. We kept saying all weekend that we should have went back n just got some soup to bring back to our hotel. Next time. Staff was friendly if not knowledgeable. Draft was good but pricy. Easy parking out front. Didn't know of or receive any happy hour specials although we were here during that time of day on Friday. Come get some soup if nothing else. We stayed at different hotel that did not have a restaurant and shuttled over....very convenient. My guy and I shared the Michigan Cherry Salad that I had never heard of before this trip to Michigan. It is delicious with dried cherries, almonds, Gorgonzola and vinaigrette dressing. There are variations of this salad at every restaurant we visiting in Ann Arbor and Detroit but this is the basic idea. We also shared the fish and chips - very delicious. But the highlight was the appetizer of fresh soft pretzels and cheese dip. Yummmmmeeeee! There was cheese dip left over so we asked for some tortilla chips and finished off the rest. There were so many beers...can't even count. The guys in the crowd loved it. Neat place, great server, too! read more

Underwhelmed and disappointed because this place has potential to be good. HopUnion is located inside the Four Points Sheraton Hotel. Best thing we had were the Brisket Nachos. Unfortunately, there was hardly any brisket on them. The brisket was good. Tell them not to skimp on the brisket. The Pub Pasta with Cajun cream sauce was the next best thing. Decent, nothing special though. Crack Sprouts with bacon, balsamic vinegar, side of sriracha aioli were okay. The sriracha aioli was good. The most disappointing thing we had was the Union Steak. Too narrow of a cut, not cooked properly, too expensive. If you go, just stick with the Brisket Nachos and some drinks. read more

There isn't much in this area, I had to stay close by and I was surprised at the lack of options outside of the airport! I found somewhere decent in this place. It's a hotel restaurant that has some decent selections. I got the pretzels and chicken wings. The pretzels were delicious and had a nice cheese sauce. I didn't get chance to have their food menu this time of my first visit but I had a very positive experience at the restaurant! After the rough 3 straight days trips and 2 hours wasted time at the airport, I ended up this restaurant. The bartender, Ms. Margie was so kind, treated me with her well mannered customer service. For the travelers staying around hotels in DTW, this is the place to visit for having late night drinks and snacks. OK hotel bar. The onion soup is good, but ask them to go easy on the croutons, it's basically a bread soup as they serve it. The crack Brussels sprouts is good, lots of sprouts, balsamic drizzle, and plenty of bacon crumbles. The meal went down from there - the perch dinner was mediocre, at best. Frozen filets WAY over cooked. They were dry and tasteless, as were the potatoes and carrots that accompanied them. Value-wise, the meal was typically hotel over-priced. $27 for a frozen perch dinner???? Draft beers were $8 ......for the smaller 16 oz. Good enough service, but if you can find a better place, away from the high cost of the airport vicinity, go for it. read more

We work at the airport and would usually stop at wheat and rye but after all the bad experiences there we were looking for a new local spot. This is located within the 4 points Sheraton. They have a great tap selection and good food. Can be a little pricey, but expected for a hotel bar. Staff is personable and always nice. Stop in if you're in the area looking for a beer! read more

Beer list is pretty good. We ordered the pub chips (good), French onion soup (good) and the black & bleu steak (pretty good). Mashed potatoes SUCKED. Almost thought they were from a box.... Overall, not bad but there's NO WAY The steak (even if it had awesome potatoes....) was worth $36.... Back home, the bill would've been about $20 less with better food. read more

If I had to guess I would say the chef isn't a chef and not very skilled in the kitchen. Maybe he's new? Either way all of our food was horrible. The Brussels sprouts weren't even salted. The steak was over cooked and burnt. I sent it back and received a steak over cooked again and he had poured the balsamic on the skillet so it burned and charred the steak and Brussel sprouts. I sent it back and just didn't eat. My coworker had the lemon roasted chicken and it tasted like pure lemon and was very over cooked. She sent it back and didn't eat. The other two coworkers ate what they could and just left napkins full of burnt pieces and fat. Very disappointing. read more

Two meals here and both delicious! Not your typical hotel fare, but unique and fresh. Arriving in Detroit late, they were still serving food at 1am. We were so hungry, paste would've tasted good. But the fish and chips were excellent--crispy and flaky fish with perfectly crunchy fries. The last day before returning home, I ordered their salad with dried cherries and it was wonderful. Again, fresh greens, generous with the toppings and dressing on the side. And to top it all off, friendly and fun staff. What a wonderful oasis for a traveler. read more

My family and I were in the middle of some flight debacles and had some downtime to eat lunch. The restaurant had just opened and there was nobody else there at the time. The server was incredibly friendly and helpful, and she understood our day was stressful and we really needed some beers! What really blew me away here was the accommodation they made for my meal. I'm vegan and I know they don't really have anything marked on the menu as such. I asked about getting a pasta dish with veggies without the cream sauce and made with a marinara instead. The server wasn't sure, so the chef came out and talked with me to understand exactly what I needed. And when it came out, it was absolutely delicious! I've been to non-vegan restaurants that made marinara that was just tomato flavored water before, so I was absolutely thrilled that it was flavorful, well-seasoned, and all of the veggies were cooked perfectly. read more

The restaurant is under construction right now. The service was quick and pleasant, but the food wasn't great. The tacos that I had were okay, but the brisket macaroni and cheese was almost all fatty cuts. We had to send back the dish, but the waitress made sure to take care of it on our bill. We made a reservation on open table, but the staff didn't know what it was when we arrived. I wouldn't recommend it. Next time, we will venture further out from the airport area. read more
