Great quick bites is what we enjoyed at Hops during our ATL trip. While visiting the Ponce City Market, we had to try a small chicken sandwich on a biscuit. It was tasty, small but thick cut chicken breast fried in a flavorful breading. I ordered two drumsticks, a thigh, an order of biscuits and Mac n cheese. Fried chicken: crispy, a little salty, but pretty good. They actually gave me two thigh pieces...probably because they were small. Biscuits: drier than I'd like to to be. I had to use two honey packets for one biscuit just so it wouldn't be too dry. I'm not sure why this place has such bad reviews but I really, really like their chicken. It had such great flavor I went back for a 2nd order. I like the hand pies. The crust or whatever you want to call it was so good and soft. I really enjoyed the Apple one but the filling in the chicken pot pie hand-pie was dry and bland. They are also over priced at $4 each. Visited February 29, 2020 As I type this review i'm kinda asking myself should I just wait to re-review Hop's Chicken with a second visit, but since I no longer live in this area, it'll be a while before I visit again, so my fingers keep on clickity clacking. I was hanging out with fellow yelper Christina L and her husband at Ponce City market, and when they found out that I had never been to Hops, we had to stop here. We were here just after 10:30, and I guess that's a weird time between breakfast and lunch because a lot of items were not available (at this point neither was fried chicken). I placed my order before 10:45 and didn't take my first bite until 30 minutes later. I ordered: Chicken biscuit ($6) Hash Brown Potato ($3) The chicken biscuit was nothing special, had good flavor but was in no way crispy. The biscuit was also kinda underwhelming. The Hash brown potato was barely warm and a limp. I would've hoped i'd have received a hot and crispy hash brown but no such luck. Basically neither of these were worth waiting a half hour for. Located inside of Ponce City Market (PCM) in their food court (near spiller park coffee), there is no seating at Hops, but there's a ton of community seating all throughout PCM. With all this said, I will be back. They're called Hops Chicken, not Hops chicken biscuits, so I do owe it to myself to get fried chicken on the bone and a couple of sides. Let me start by saying I'm a southern food snob & know how to cook/ We decided to wander out and see what the hype was at Ponce City Market. We were told to check out the place by someone at City Winery. Seating is plentiful since you're inside of the market. We ordered: breast, tenders, biscuits, fries, Mac n cheese, and teas Cost: $29 which is sorta high for takeout but it's a touristy area I suppose. Portions / Food: tenders were super small and over cooked. I added hot sauce (they have various kinds which is great) to give it flavor. Macaroni was greasy and lacked that cheesy taste I love. Fries were ok and a tad over cooked. The man liked his chicken but said it wasn't worth the hype. The tea was about a 6/10 and this is the south right. Service: very friendly folks which was nice. Have hopped to Hop's a couple of times and have had positive experiences. Regarding the chicken, you have a couple of options. You can order regular fried chicken by the piece ($2-4) and sides separately. There are also tenders, nuggets, and sandwiches on the menu.  The tenders and nuggets come in 3 or 5 piece options ($2-6), and you get your choice of 1-2 sauces. I'm a fan of the frim fram (no description on the menu, but it's a creamy pastel orange-hued sauce commonly accompanying chicken fingers) and the black pepper gravy. The honey mustard isn't bad either. I would say all the chicken is more than solid, but just a little too salty. But there is a thick breading and tender moist meat inside. The mac and cheese is superb: rich and cheesy. The collard greens are good too.  Service is efficient and courteous. I haven't had to wait very long for my orders but Hop's hands you one of those light up vibrating coaster deals so you can go browse Williams-Sonoma in the meantime. I arrived at Ponce City Market with hopes of indulging in some good eats. It was around 11:30am on Sunday, so all of the restaurants were not open for business yet. I decided on Hop's because it was really the only thing remotely close to having breakfast. There was a small line, but it moved fairly quickly. It appears that they are just pulled out of a warmer, so it really does not take much effort to get them out quickly. Some restaurants overthink fried chicken, but Hop's Chicken gets it perfect. My chicken was crispy on the outside and hot and juicy on the inside. I got a drumstick and a thigh with Mac and cheese and pepper gravy, and my boyfriend got chicken tenders and fries. We paid $18 total for both of us.
