Where do I start. I know,with the burger. I remember when Hpdoddy first hit Dallas over 10 years ago. I ate at the first store in Preston Center and it was so amazing,I couldn't wait to return. A couple of months ago I visited the new shop in Plano with high expectations and walked away disappointed. While skirting downtown the other day I came upon this location. Lucking out, there was a convenient curbside parking spot and I took it. Entering the resturant in mid afternoon, I was surprised it was busier than expected but slow. I stood at the counter to order at least 4-5 minutes before anyone showed up. Then, he was less than enthusiastic about my order. Not the usual for Hopdoody. There was no ice in the beverage dispenser. I sat at my table quite a while before I could flag someone down to locate me ice. Someone finally responded and filled my glass with ice. Howver, all that matters not if the food is good and it was Not with a capital N. The burger was less than with a soggy bun and overcooked meat. The fries were just downright bad. Stale...a real mystery. My self talk went something like,"how do you mess up a burger and French fries if you are a burger and fries restaurant"? Plus I got the basic burger. Meat,cheese,lettuce, onion, tomato bun. It's no secret why this is happening to the once formidable Hopdoddy. Expansion. I've seen this story play out time after time. It's nearly impossible to duplicate the synchronistic je ne sais quoi, magic of that first roaring success. I'm not a quitter though so,I'm persevering as a " Burger King" and trying one more location. Giving them one last shot... My niece insisted we drive 30 minutes to the best burger place. The weekend traffic is madness and parking is even more chaotic but worth it. The staff was really great. I got the wagyu smash. Truffle fries. Brussel leaves. The draft beer was good, Dan at the bar made us my fave mexican candy shots, he ddnt know what they were but he pulled thru. And man he is character, he livens the place up. The burger was 100% top tier and their fried eggs on top are a must. My only issue, the brussel leaves need some salt, just a taddle. Fair warning that the parking validation process can be hard to see on the small signs in the parking garage. You have to scan the QR code and set up your free two hours AHEAD of time. If you're making a day of being in the area, probs better to park somewhere else. The mint lemonade was SOOOOO good. Enjoyed my sweet potato fries and pesto burger too. Stop by for happy hour on a weekday, and the prices are very affordable! I got one of the house frozen margaritas, and it was pretty strong. also got the fries to share, which were crispy and salty. For myself, I got the happy hour sliders. They were pretty feeling and very cheap! They was seating indoor as well as outdoor. Because of the weather, we decided to sit indoor at one of the high tables. We ordered at the register, and they brought out the food to the table. The service was fantastic, and the food and drinks came out really fast. But definitely come back and dying here, especially for happy hour given the great prices. I don't easily give 5 stars to any restaurant or anything at all for that matter, but eating at Hopdoddy in Dallas last night was a revelation. I had by far the best burger I have ever had in my entire life, there isn't even a close 2nd. WOW! I had their premier Cadillac Wagyu and it's literally the Cadillac of burgers. 1/2 lb Wagyu Beef, Swiss Cheese, Steakhouse Bacon, Crispy Fried Onions, Steak Sauce, Truffle Aioli, Roasted Tomato & Arugula. They make their own buns by the way, and that just adds to the deliciousness of the burger. Absolutely delicious! I paired it with their signature Parmesan Truffle fries, a perfect pairing. You know this is a special burger place to begin with because I don't remember ever being at a burger place in my life before that has a full bar. I had a beer and the waitress was so nice, for some reason she offered me a free shot of whiskey. You can't get better than that. I can't possibly give this place a higher recommendation, if you love burgers, you have to try it out. read more

New to the neighborhood, my gf and I have been trying out all the spots within walking distance of our place. And since we love burgers, we decided to give Hopdoddy's a try. We arrived around 7:30 on Tuesday night. I love the fact that they have an outdoor seating area which a few high tops. We decided to sit inside so that we could watch the game. Upon entering we were greeted with smiles from everyone. A nice gentleman asked if we had been there before, we told him we hadn't. He welcomed us in and offered a few suggestions. There were so many options but we narrowed it down to the Doddy Melt (with a regular bun vs rye toast), The Classic with American cheese, Truffle Brussels and Hand Cut fries. And of course, we had to sample something from the bar so we ordered a Chardonnay and an Old Fashioned. You order at the counter, choose your seat and then your food is bought out to you. Within a few minutes, our server bought over water followed by our drinks. I must say, the Old Fashioned was much better than I anticipated. Not too strong or sweet..perfect. Next, the hand cut fries and truffle Brussels. I'm a hand cut fry girl, so I loved them. They were hot, not too salty and plentiful. The Brussels..oh my! Hands down, I've never experienced a bowl of shaved Brussels in that manner and they were delish! I didn't even get a pic which tells you how good they were lol. Average burger spot! Service was quick and it has lots of TVs and seating for a potential game watching event. I got a goodnight burger ($11.50) and a basket of fries ($4.95) and it was good. My burger was lacking a lot of toppings/actual meat so It was pretty flat to be honest. Honestly not too special or worth inconveniencing yourself to get. I've been to other hopdaddy locations, so I was expecting a high bar. Unfortunately, my expectations were disappointed. First off, I was trying to do a takeout order, and I got routed to an AI. When I asked to speak to a real person, the phone rang and then hung up on me. When I called back again, I was finally able to get through. Not off to a great start. When I parked in the garage, there are signs everywhere that says restaurants and retail will validate your parking. That was not the case. I just spent $17 for less than 10 minutes of time. When I asked the Hopdoddy employees for assistant, they were completely useless and said there was nothing that could be done All set and done, I spent almost $80 for two burgers, two fries, and two lemonades. No alcohol or beers. From a value standpoint, this place just doesn't hold up. Parking is too frustrating, and by the time I figured out parking picked up the burger and made it back home, the burger and fries were cold. Sigh. read more

Food is pricey but ok. Biggest frustration is parking structure on top of the restaurant. They told us when we came in to get the code to validate before we leave. We paid, thinking the code would cancel out the charge or put it back on our card. We didn't want to get towed. When we asked for the code before leaving, they said it couldn't be used because we already paid. If your parking situation is that confusing and requires you to pay to park with a promise of validating, the staff should be better educated and communicate that to the customers so they don't lose extra money just trying to eat at your restaurant. read more

There were different grades of beef as well, I had the buffalo with blue cheese and their sauce. The employees were very lively and social, also gave good recommendations on options to choose from. Ordered Hopdoddy on a whim last night via Uber eats. I originally wanted a burger but then decided to try their chicken strips. The chicken strips were spicy and delicious. Very juicy, not dry at all. I did ask for sauce with them but did not receive any in the bag. However, they were good dipped in the ketchup and the ranch. The parm truffle fries were pretty good. Lacked parm but the flavor was still there. fries were slightly crisp but soft on the inside which I loved. Definitely need to amp up the Parmesan though. My friend got the thunderbird sandwich minus the bacon and she said it was very good. Next time I will be trying one of the burgers to see how they compare to my usual burger spots. All in all a good spot for to end our year with. The chicken was very good and I will order it again for sure. read more

Our experience was great; the place was fairly clean with lots of space, and the hostesses were attentive, patient, and helpful to us. Parking wasn't too much of an issue either (street parking). Prices were fair for the selections. We ordered the Parmesan truffle fries, the Nashville chicken burger, and the llamo poblano burger. The truffle fries were fine; couldn't really taste the truffle and the fries themselves were so-so, but the white sauce really made the dish pop. The Nashville burger was my favorite. Perfectly toasted bun, the chicken was spicy and crispy, with a tangy sauce. It tasted almost like a high-end Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich (which is actually a compliment). The llamo poblano was peppery. Not much to say about it, other than that it was very filling despite its size. Overall, I'd definitely go again! read more

The ambiance and cleanliness of this place is really subpar. Our table was filthy and we had to clear it to sit down. As was every table in here which you can see. It wasn't busy so there wasn't really a reason for this. The food was ok, it really wasn't like a top burger. The fries I could have gone without. Well, I did. I only ate a few. The burgers were tough and used sauce to cover up the actual lack of quality. The sauces ended up making the burgers really sloppy and hard to eat. Looks good in pictures but that's as far as it goes. The service was ok, our fries came out long before the burgers which was weird and it's a seat yourself kinda place. Our waitress who brought the food out was nice but also really struggling with her weight. As politely as possible when someone is breathing heavily over your food and sweating it's off putting. Overall not a bad stop, wasn't a place I'll be returning too. Maybe we arrived on a bad day. This is the place you go to get some good gourmet burger. You still order at the counter, but they'll deliver your order to the table. Service is usually decent. It's not like a true sit down restaurant, but they'll check on you here and there. They have a bar in the middle, and overall pretty casual. The burgers are good and juicy! However, their recent creations are a hit or miss. I love their Mother Nature burger, but doddy melt was a bit dry. Not sure if they just had an off night. The regular burgers on the other hand are always good; I never had an issue with those. My favorite is good night good cause or the magic shroom. The restaurant remade it and when the new one came back I can only describe it as vindictively salty. Just way saltier than the initial burger was and it was still raw in the middle. For a Thursday night, it wasn't too busy. We sat inside but the smoke was a little too much and made it pretty hazy inside. Service was great, and everyone was very friendly. Not pleased with my experience today. I ordered the melt and asked for the impossible patty. I paid and my son and I sat down and wait for our food. After our food is dropped off, a second person came to tell me that they didn't charge me for the impossible patties. If I had know when I was ordering that I was going to be eating a $20 burger, I absolutely would have gotten something else because. On top of it all, the bread that was used was one of the end pieces and it was so slippery the meat wouldn't even stay in the sandwich.
