Hooties is the "virtual kitchen" run out of Hooters, but focused more on burgers than wings (though you can still get wings via Hooties).
I have no shame in saying that I love Hooters (in person) and always get the boneless wings, so I decided to try out a burger via delivery from "Hooties" on DoorDash.
The delivery itself was terrible (I blame DoorDash for that, not the restaurant). I live in an apartment complex that has many buildings which each have a mailroom inside.
The DoorDash person just left my bag of food OUTSIDE to die in the summer heat, before I got the alert that it was outside and had to put on actual clothes to go outside and get it (not the point of ordering DoorDash!)
I ordered the Mozzarella Sticks, and they were fat and juicy, which was a good sign, but the marinara sauce that comes with them is small (one small cup for six huge mozzy sticks), and it's very chunky like it is tomato paste, almost having a salsa consistency.
For my burger, I got the BYOB Burger (where you build it yourself with toppings). What they don't tell you though, is that you will get a plain burger with your choice of cheese, and any other toppings you add, they will just come on the side (packets of mayo, packets of ketchup, little cup of pickles).
I didn't know when they said "Build Your Own Burger" they meant literally assemble it yourself, but that was how it ended up working!
The taste of the burger itself was actually good, with a nice smokey flavor. I chose Pepperjack Cheese, which added a little kick and extra flavor too.
The burger came with a side of curly fries, and those were actually quite tasty. I would recommend getting the side of cheese sauce, but I didn't remember to do that, so I had just ketchup with them and they were okay that way.
Overall, for $33 for a burger and mozzarella sticks, it was quite disappointing to have to pick up the food outside my apartment building and assemble the burger myself.
The brick and mortar Hooters has burgers themselves, including the BYOB burger (but assembled by the kitchen staff I assume and not yourself at your table).
I recommend just going there in person to grab a burger, because "Hooties" and the DoorDash delivery left much to be desired. read more
