They have a typed up list of items that they think are gluten free. Well, as I discovered, this list is incorrect. Their burgers (without the roll) are NOT gf. I am paying severely now for the next few days for choosing to eat there. If you're gf- don't take the chance! And Hooligans, get with the program. "Meh. I've experienced better" is the perfect description of this place, so 2 stars it is. Mediocre food, awful tap list. Seriously, does anyone at this joint realize that there is beer outside of Bud/Miller/Coors? There were only a couple of choices for the craft beer fan : Victory Hop Devil and Ithaca Flower Power (which they were out of). There was also Sam Adams and the Sam Adams seasonal (Alpine Spring when I was there), which are adequate choices I suppose. The rest of the tap list kind of sounds like this: Bud Bud Select Bud Light Bud Light Lime Bud Platinum Bud Platinum Select Bud Light Select Lime Bud Platinum Super Select Bud Platinum Super Duper Select Ultra XL 3000 XTREME XXX OK, you all know I'm kidding, but virtually every macro and their umpteen lame variations are represented, along with the ever present Shock Tops and Blue Moons. Ugh. Worse, when my girlfriend called to ask about what they have on tap, the girl who answered didn't even know what "craft beer" was. Wow. Now onto the food: barely mediocre. The loaded fries were served on a giant platter, but were spread out into almost a single layer, so the appetizer looked more substantial than it really was. On a positive note, this did mean that one got some topping with every fork full of fries. I ordered the "Inferno Burger". Now, one would think if a place is calling something "Inferno" it would bring the heat. Not so. It is worth noting that my heat tolerance is by no means superhuman, but I do like spicy food to a point. A burger that has pepper jack cheese, spicy mayo, jalapenos, and habanero spice should be hot, correct? Well, this had barely a hint of heat to it, except for the couple of jalapenos scattered over the top of the burger. The "Habanero spice" was MIA apparently. I couldn't detect any, at least. The burger was cooked significantly past medium rare as well. My girlfriend order the Monte Cristo, and it was underwhelming. Others at the table ordered the bacon cheeseburger, the Bayou Burger, and the Buffalo Chicken pizza. They got reactions of "mediocre", "meh", and "it's OK", so I am not alone in my opinion of the food. It was all mediocre, but just that. The bar area was extremely loud. Decent atmosphere for Monday Night Football. Bar-side was packed. Tonight we decided to sit on the restaurant-side which was less crowded and still had a big screen to watch. Food was alright, nothing to write home about. They had a late night menu which included discounted apps. from $5-7. I got a Cobb salad for $11. Husband got a plate for $11. Kept getting overwhelming whiffs of Jägerbomb. I guess because I'm not 21 anymore, it was nauseating me. All in all, a classic sports bar. I have a soft spot for this joint because my husband proposed to me here during a Broncos game last year. Classy guy, huh? I obviously said yes so I knew what I was getting into. I've been here twice now and I really liked it both times. I hear the one in Greece isn't as nice as this one. I would consider it to be a more upscale sports bar than Distillery. The inside has been designed nicely and it feels slightly chic for a sports bar. Both times, the food was very good. I had pizza and loaded fries before. This time I had a hamburger plate. It had generous portions of Mac salad and fries. The meat hot sauce was very good. It was a good Plate! My friends went with Italian dishes. I was a little worried about Italian in a sports bar, but they both said they were good! The house salads that came with their meals were big and looked delicious! I will definitely go back. It's a great place to hit up after a movie at AMC. It's only a mile down the road. read more

This is my second time at Hooligans. I come to take advantage of the 50¢ wing nights on Wednesday's. Both times, the wings came to my table literally swimming in the sauce that I chose. It was uncomfortably chewy. The "Buffalo Chicken Wing Dip" that I had called ahead to confirm was on the menu turned out to be a very small bowl of Buffalo Chicken Queso, and the chips were pretty fragile. They broke before scooping the cheese sauce. Other than the food being sub-par, it was a pleasant experience. Our server, Danielle, was polite, courteous, and efficient. She came back to the table often to check up on us, made sure everything was to our liking, and closed out the visit with a very personalized thank you. P.S. This is my go to place when I want to munch on some food and watch a sport's game. The only trick to it is that you have to get there early. Last time I went, we waited 30 minutes for a table and missed a good chunk of the game. And it was only preseason! I got myself a garbage plate. It was delicious but small compared to other places' plates. Only time I have ever finished a garbage plate by myself. The restaurant is always clean and staff is always friendly. I really need to come back sometime during the warmer months and utilize the outdoor seating area. It always looks so welcoming but I have never made it out there. read more

I was in Hooligan's on a Friday night after 9:00 and it was hopping in the bar area! A good 30+ year old crowd filled the centrally located bar area. I appreciate that the bar and the dining room are somewhat separate so if you're in with kids of family and want a more quiet spot, you'd still be in good shape. I was there for girls night drinks and snacks, so the bar area was a perfect fit. They have a decent beer selection with a range of 1-2 IPAs including some locals and at least one of each of the other styles. There are ample American/ Canadian lager choices, from which makes sense in a sports bar type atmosphere. Lagers and big named brands probably take up a third of the 20 or so draft lines. Cocktails were offered in double tall form (pint glasses) which I didn't resist. Our server was great and brought drinks quickly. There are wall to wall tv's which are probably great during football season. For food we had a giant pretzel and a chicken quesadilla. Both were really basic bar food choices that didn't stand out for me. The pretzel was soft and salty which some basic dip choices and while it didn't knock my socks off, it definitely helped fill me up. I had to take my friends' word for it on the quesadilla because I'm not a meat eater. The bar scene is great for people watching and the service is good! This place is great!! The beer selection is huge which my husband loved, they had Angry Orchard on draft which I loved. The drinks came in huge 22 Oz frosted glasses! We had wings to start, honey mustard and Hooligans sauce. The Hooligans sauce was awesome, the perfect taste of sweet and tangy. The honey mustard were ok, could have been more flavorful. We both had burgers, I had the BBQ bacon burger and it was cooked to perfection and the BBQ was so good. My husband had the Hooligans burger which was huge, with a salt covered bun. It had pulled pork on top of the burger. And the French fries were delicious too. The service was great as well. We didn't stay but Monday nights they have trivia during football. Lots of TV ' S and your choice to sit in the bar area or the dining room which are very well separated. We will definitely be back :) read more

I ordered a Taco Salad and had to pay $1.00 extra for cheese; isn't cheese a common ingredient in a taco salad? There was barely any in it. I also had to pay an extra dollar for a few measly pieces of avocado. They gave me a few measly tortilla chips (NOT strips) as well, but, surprisingly, these were free. The chili and salsa were too spicy. The lettuce was wilted. Disgusting green and red peppers were included which should never go in a taco salad. Had the chance to eat here last time I was in the area. Nice sized bar area leads into the dining area. The bar has your typical bottles of both domestic and import beers. It also has some craft choices for you craft beer lovers out there. Beer is also on draft as well and of course there's liquor as well. For lunch I ordered the Philly cheesesteak pizza and added banana peppers to it. Everything looked great, pizza came out and I dug in. The flavor was really good, the pizza was loaded, didn't skimp on the toppings which was nice to see. Crust was perfectly cooked in the wood fired oven. Was extremely you happy with the meal I had. The only negative thing I can say about the place is how the situation with me finding a rather large hard piece of plastic in my pizza was handled. I found it when I bit into the pizza and felt a sharp pain in the roof of my mouth! The plastic shard had cut the roof of my mouth! I was pissed as anyone would be....when our server came by and asked how our food was I calmly told her that I had found plastic in my pizza. She apologized and said she would let the back of the house know. A few minutes later the manager came to our table, apologized, and let me know he would be happy to take 50% off of the pizza. Ummmmm....come again? Listen, It's not about the money...the pizza was $14. It's principal. I thought it was in pretty poor form to comp only 50%. Especially since it cut the roof of my mouth. I didn't make a big deal about it, I thanked the manager, and continued to eat the rest of my pizza....thankfully free of any more plastic. I would most definitely come here again though if I am in the area. The burgers and the wings looked great too so I will have to try them. This review is based off our takeout experience recently. Lots of places that we've had meh experiences at have been getting looks from us recently as we've worn out on our go-to's a bit. I gotta say, one of the things I've noticed during the last year is that serving sizes run smaller when you don't eat at the restaurant but that is NOT the case here. The serving sizes were massive and matched the price of everything we ordered. It's a typical sports bar food lineup and nothing super crazy about the quality of the food, just that it was consistent and exceeded my expectations especially after our last trip. We contemplated getting delivery but the up charge was just a bit high for our liking. This is the only knock on the experience was the curbside option: they said they offer it but the setup is less than desirable. Only two options for parking and one is being used as a snow dump for the plow. With all the food options and the consistent food quality we'll be adding this to our weekend covid takeout rotation. read more

The chicken wings were completely underwhelming. I sat at the bar and ordered inferno wings and beer. The beer was cold, that's why they got a star. The chicken wings were mild, I finally flagged the bartender down and asked if there was a mistake in the order, he went into the kitchen and came back out to tell me that they were out of inferno sauce. Amazing service. I came here with my co-worked for a dinner and what an amazing service. Our waitress was super nice. I asked her what kind of fresh red wine they have and she said to me "I will open any bottle you want." and so she did, I pointed to the wall and she got me that bottle. She was also more than accommodating to my picky co-worker who must have tried every possible beer under the sun until he settled on the Tuesday night special. I had here the Steakhouse salad and it was delicious. I really was not expecting it to be so good. The steak was done to perfection; it had pieces of blue cheese and spicy pecans and shallots and very very delicious vinaigrette. We also sat the whole evening by the bar near the pizza oven and the whole night the pizza guy turned fresh made pizzas. Decent food here, a nice atmosphere and a good place to meet up with friends around the area. I had the pig out burger, it was a little too big so I couldn't finish it but was very tasty. Chips were OK, a little too cooked for my taste (but sliced from fresh potatoes). The drinks I tried that my friends were having were all tasty! We had draft beer, a strawberry daquiri, a dirty martini, a whiskey sour, an old fashioned, and an appletini! All came out looking great and tasting good! Pretty much your standard sports bar. They have decent drink specials and the food is good as far as bar food goes. We recently went with about 20 people for an after-work happy hour. We started at 4pm so the bar was pretty much ours, but by 6-7pm other patrons had started to fill in for decent Monday night crowd. They've got a couple dart boards and a Big Buck Hunter game which kept people entertained as well. The food we got was delivered quickly and piping hot. Baskets of fries for the table were well seasoned and crispy. I got a chicken quesadilla that was flavorful and full of toppings, making it good for a small meal. The pizzas seem to be loved by all, as they're cooked in a brick oven. Definitely a step up from your typical bar-food pizza. I tried the chili nachos, which were good, but nothing to write home about. For the most part the servers were friendly and helpful. The only thing that was a little bit of a turn off was that our group had a tab for us to order a couple drinks each - most of us tipped each time a drink was ordered, then when the tab was closed out, a tip was left again - but the bartender still seemed to be fishing for a tip. We were pretty well organized and only drinks on that tab, and were not a rowdy bunch so it didn't seem justified to ask for more on an already well tipped bill. I do not consider this my favorite restaurant. However, it seems that when I am looking to go out to eat I always end up settling on this place. I am a huge pizza fan and for some reason keep ending up here for pizza! I just ordered the simple pepperoni pizza and am always satisfied. I also recommend the Buffalo chicken mac & cheese and the juicy Lucy. this place is a bar and Grill, more than a grill and bar, so expect some noise from the TVs, music and the other patrons. They have great happy hour specials and great late night food specials as well. Being a bar and Grill, it is not my "go to" place for a healthy meal! read more

Now that business' are open again I decided to try the outdoor seating at Hooligan's. The setup they have is great - tables setup in a fenced in area that has both direct seating outside as well as under an awning. Our waitress was great - very nice, attentive and a positive attitude. As I'm sure the changes are tough to adjust to (I.e masks, grouchy customers, etc). There was one thing that was offsetting - when the bill came, we were charged a service fee for using a credit card - basically they passed on the cc transaction fee. I'm chalking this up to having a rough time during Covid and doing what they need to stay open - I fully expect to see that type of charge disappear once we get back to normal. On the positive side, I ordered wings. They came out quite dry, so I asked for a side of sauce. The waitress brings back a side and apologizes as they are out of the Insanity sauce that I ordered (probably why they were dry in the first place), but that the cook (Josh) whipped up some homemade version. OMG - this version was incredible - much better than the sauce they came out with! Thank you Josh! You should look to put that version on the menu :) read more

I have been here dozens and dozens of times. It's bar food, but it's very good bar food and a great place to watch games. I just got some Nachos to go on my way home from work and was told there would be a 3% fee for using a credit card. Nobody does this. I have not had a single other restaurant in Rochester do this. Not a single other company of any kind. I am a sales manager and I would be so embarrassed to tell our customers we did something like this. The person ringing me up said "it's only about 60 cents. It's always charged by the credit card company, we're just passing on the fee". I just bought $18 nachos and you're telling me that those 60 cents aren't built in? Yikes. I don't know if that's poor money management or just greed, but it's an ugly image and from looking at their reviews over the last few months, I'm not the only one to think so. It's disappointing because I genuinely like the food, but Pub 235, the Filling Station, and several other similar places in the area are every bit as good and not so petty, so I will be going elsewhere from now on. I was told they've been doing this since July. I've ordered to go from here multiple times since then, so they must have been charging me and not even telling me. Even worse customer service. Went there last Fri. Drinks were watered down (mine anyway), even a shot tasted watered down. Pizza was edible, but I've had better. Took forever to get drinks. But can't fault the waitress. Food here is always reasonable. Have eaten here many times. Service however is starting to slip. They do take reservations but when you come inas a walk-in, they don't take that into account. So a "10 minute" wait period can easily be a 40 minute wait period when 2 or 3 other people with reservations come in. Would help if they could estimate wait times better. read more

Went there last night to watch the game. Plenty of tv's so thats not the problem. Food was bad. Soggy wings burnt cheese on the nachos and chips. So so service. Pushy actually asked us to move to another table top to accommodate another party. She hadn't identified an alternate table for us in the process. I came here for a business lunch and I was not impressed. The decor is nice and it seems like a good place for groups. That's the only positive I can give. We were there around 11:30-11:45am and the place was pretty slow for almost lunch time. Our waiter was extremely slow at taking our order and it took a good 30 minutes before our food arrived...did I mention the place was slow? My burger was bland and not at all the medium well I had requested. My friends burger was also on the bland side (how is their inferno burger bland?) and their burger was over done. Fries were meh. Ordered takeout there during the second presidential debate. The bar back was a total snot to me from behind the bar when I asked the BT if the debate was on Any of the 50 tv's they have in the bar. He took a condescending attitude to me. When I finally got my food, the bartender gave me back the wrong credit card then called me a liar when I pointed out the error. He demanded to ID - ok, fine; but he was a total jerk to me. When I got home the buffalo chicken wrap I ordered was not cooked properly. I called and complained and no solution was offered. They need to learn a lesson about customer service in there. If I ever find myself in Webster again; I will go to one of those dives up the street. read more

My boyfriend and I came to Hooligan's late night and we tried the sampler plate, lobster Mac and cheese and the grilled cheese burger, plus plenty of mixed drinks. We definitely enjoyed ourselves and the food was amazing. The bar tender had great customer service. The cocktails that are on menu are DELICIOUS! We pretty much tried all of the cocktails listed. Definitely loved the spicy margarita listed in the menu. One of the best margaritas I've ever had. The lobster Mac and cheese was definitely something I was looking forward to trying. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't enough lobster in it to truly enjoy it but other than that the Mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy. The grilled cheese burger was incredible and definitely something to make at home. The sampler platter was great, our favorite was the Mexican egg rolls that came in the platter. Stopped into Hooligans Eastside grill today for lunch. Had a great parking spot right up front cause it was down pouring. I walked in was immediately approached by a beautiful server saying welcome to Hooligans. I had the boneless wings country sweet which were amazing. Jamie the bartender was really attentive me myself and I got out within 25 minutes. I would recommend lunch anytime at Hooligans. read more
