The place my mom and I wanted to go to had their power out so we quickly diverted. Nice place for reasonably priced sushi for area. Take out looked like their most popular option by far. The food came out very fast.

5 star service, very friendly and accommodating! Ambiance is chill, family friendly, food is great! All dishes were good, my only critique is the sesame chicken was not very crispy because it was in the sauce and the veggies didn't taste as if they were fully cooked but flavor was good! Would gladly come back as they were very careful of my wife's peanut treenut and seafood allergies :)

Celebrating the wife's wonderful performance review so decided to go out for sushi. Parking was surprisingly busy on a Monday night, but were able to find a spot and be seated right away. Ordered a bottle of Sapporo which happened to be one of the few things on the happy hour menu. Also, looking at the beer menu and doing the math the big bottle of Sapporo is the best bang for your buck before the happy hour discount. They do happy hour wine on Tuesdays if you're a fan of the grape. We ordered the Monkey Brain, Black Dragon, and the Homie. The homie was our favorite, but none were bad. Would probably only order the homie again. They have a robust menu so can't wait to come back and try other items.

Welcomed on entering by the hostess and seated promptly. It's a very nice open space with lots of seating and good amount of seating at the sushi bar. It has a nice ambiance with the music level and decor. It had a good clean feel inside. Sashimi combo comes with 6 piece sashimi a side salad and miso soup. Fish nicely sliced and good flavor! Soup could have been a touch hotter but it was pretty good overall on the flavor, nice pieces of seaweed and tofu chunks. Salad was a simple one but the dressing...SO GOOD!!!!!!! Nicely displayed Shrimp tempura appetizer was nicely cooked with shrimp to tempura ratio, dipping sauce was also really good 2 item combo with chicken katsu and crunch roll with rice, side salad and miso soup was really good. The katsu was nicely breaded and had good flavor alone, the dipping sauce was pretty good. Very tasty together. The crunch roll was huge and pretty tasty! Overall very good food and recommend for sushi!

The food was amazing! You can tell they use fresh ingredients. While we couldn't find it on the menu, our server confirmed that they have inari, which is our 4 year oldest favorite. The food also came out super quickly. TVs had bith a soccer game on as well as a kids show.

We love hooked on sushi. The service is always great, food comes out fast and is always fresh. Our son asks to eat her weekly. Lucky to have sushi so close to us.

Post-mortem... I was sad to hear that CHIKO permanently closed their doors at the end of last year…read more It's rare for an East Coast based Asian chain restaurant to migrate to California, but that was what CHIKO did. As noted by its name, this place served a fusion of Chinese and Korean cuisines. Their Encinitas location took over what used to be a roadside diner along N Coast Hwy 101. The seating capacity was less than 40 people which included a few high-top counter spots. At my last visit, I came for a late dinner before their closing time. A large menu was posted on the wall behind the service counter that listed about two dozen food offerings. The items seemed to be comfort food like pot stickers, spring rolls, fried rice, and chicken wings but flavored with unique combinations of seasonings and spices. I started my meal with the Marinated Beef Tri-Tip Skewers which came as a set of three and a Chinese mustard for dipping. The meat was very tender and well-seasoned. I also ordered the Cumin Lamb Stir Fry which the cashier said was medium spicy. After tasting a couple of bites of the noodles from the serving bowl, I agreed that the heat level was moderate, even for my palate. I thought the portion size should have been more for the price. That was my main criticism for both items, otherwise the food was solid for an Asian fusion eatery.

Sushi is one of my favorite foods, so I don't say it lightly :). I have brought family and friends back here too My brother in law brought his kid and tried the chicken of the sea nuggets (tuna) and even I loved them! For someone with a low tolerance of spice, you never know how spicy the spicy tuna will actually be, I gambled wrong for my tolerance. Delicious none the less but for me a little too spicy haha! On my last order... Chicken Bowl-fresh vegetables and teriyaki chicken over round rice. Sunomono (cucumber) salad was delicious and refreshing. I came in for lunch and ordered the "B" special, which includes 4 pieces of chef's choice nigiri and 5 pieces of sashimi, along with two gyoza, salad, and miso soup. Positives: * The salmon and tuna quality were very good * Service was friendly Negatives: * Despite the apparent freshness, several pieces of fish were cut with noticeable connective tissue (white fibrous strands), which made the sushi and sashimi unpleasant to eat * The spicy tuna roll was extremely spicy, far beyond typical sriracha or similar, to the point it was hard to finish * The salad dressing (looked like a Thousand Island style) was also unexpectedly spicy and heavily coated the lettuce * The albacore quality was not great and also had connective tissue * The ambiance was loud and not very relaxing * Seating felt oddly high and uncomfortable * Prices felt steep for what was served (around $50 for sushi/sashimi lunch options; the mixed "B" special was $26) * The soy sauce dish was very small and made it difficult to dip the nigiri properly Overall, a disappointing experience given the price point. I was hoping to find a new go-to spot, but I'll keep looking.
