I have been a Hooked on Solar customer since 2017. The company is very professional and the customer service is excellent. Recently, I added additional panels and batteries to my system. I worked with Michael Blase who walked me through every facet of the battery selection, pros and cons of battery options and the installation process to ensure I did not cause a change in my NEM schedule. Michael's knowledge, professionalism and understanding of the market dynamics of solar and battery systems was instrumental in making my decision to upgrade my system. In addition, because of his excellent customer service, I recommended 3 new customers with a 4th to contact him soon. If you're looking to purchase a new solar and/or battery system or upgrade your existing system I highly recommend you contact Michael Blase for all your needs. read more

[EDITED] I purchased a system thru Hooked on Solar. I did my research on panels and system types so I knew what I needed prior to purchasing. I purchased Sunpower Panels and a Tesla Gateway / Powerwall. The workmanship and quality of the system is excellent. While there was an issue with the installation, the VP of the Company contacted me directly and came out to my home. He suggested the proper remedy and sent out a technician to correct the problem. His hands on approach to customer service went above and beyond what you typically see with other companies. I am completely satisfied with the system at this point and would give them 6 stars out of 5 if I could. Thank You, Hooked on Solar and especially Roger!! read more

We started our solar journey with Mike Blase as our contact for the installation of roof top solar panels in 2019. We were very satisfied with the installation and performance of our solar system. Since then, we have embarked upon two additional projects. We continue to contact Mike because he is personable, professional, and responds quickly to any additional questions that we may have. He periodically reaches out with new information that may be of interest to us. In addition, everyone at Hooked on Solar that we have dealt with from home site visits, to installation crews, and office contacts have been very professional and timely in their actions. We couldn't be happier with our solar system. read more

I have been working with Brianna Kidwell and Ashlee Hahn with a recent purchase of a Telsa Wall 3.0. Brianna has been my contact with anything to do with Solar Systems. Always helpful and supportive, when required she works internally with her resources to get me the information I request. Ashlee was extremely helpful in walking me through an analysis of my PGE bills prior and after purchase of the Tesla PowerWall. She was extremely informative in having me understand the app that supports the battery, what the data is presenting and how to review relevant data to optimize its performance. These guys are great and great to work with, I am very happy with the support they provide and highly recommend them, GREAT JOB!!! read more

We have had outstanding professional service with Michael Blase of HOS Rocklin and greatly value the Sunpower panel quality. All panels are definitely not equal or even similar. We've contracted HOS twice including for our Tesla Powerwall installations. We wouldn't consider any other company for a solar system. Their sales and tech teams are very knowledgeable and many cuts above the others. They feature quality rather and great support rather than just a door to door sales commission culture. read more

I have purchased panels from Hooked on Solar by SunPower in Rocklin on two different occasions. Had a very good experience on both occasions. I am trying to purchase a battery system from them. Over the past 3 weeks I have contacted them several times by telephone and email to both my representative and directly with the sales office. And no response or call back from them. I will be now researching to find a new company to purchase a power wall. If it is customer service you are looking for Hooked on Solar by SunPower in Rocklin is not the company to go to. Not sure if they are out of business. After posting this, Ashlee from Hooked On Solar has contacted me and has offered to help me. She was very apologetic on behalf of the company. I will update my review from 1 star to 3 stars. read more

Salesman Doug was great, but everything else, not great from installers smoking cigarettes on my property to multiple monitoring malfunction notions with no backup. The owners never even called me back after installers were smoking cigarettes n my property even after I asked them to stop. The monitoring system goes down or isn't working properly at least once a week. No he'll but typically a response several days later. In my opinion, due to all the glitches in me motoring I'd look elsewhere if I could do it again. read more

We are VERY pleased with Hooked on Solar and the equipment they installed! I have never dealt with a company that was so pleasant to work with. Everything was done when we were told it would be done. The whole installation including 21 solar panels plus having to install a new electrical main panel was done in a timely manner! Each employee that we had contact with was very professional, knowledgeable, and extremely courteous. Doug, Fernando his team of electricians, and Michael, who handled the inspection were all very easy to work with, and the type of persons that you would want to work on a job at your home. The job was done in the middle of our house being remodeled, which could have complicated things, but they worked with and around the remodelers, (who by the way were not always the easiest to work with), and completed the project without a hitch! It is so nice to know that we have a top-of-the-line solar system now and watching the meter feeding power back to the grid is fun (LOL) The only negative thing is that the Tesla batteries were not available to install due to a backlog caused by the Covid thing. Bear in mind this was not Hooked on Solar's fault and was beyond their control. Bottom line, this is your very best option for having a solar system for your home. read more

Very happy with my experience with Hooked on Solar. I got a powerwall installed by them. Not only were they cheaper than the quote I received from Tesla, they had such better customer service. Ashlee was helpful from the beginning all the way to the end, she even helped with questions I had after the install was complete. Highly recommend. read more

We purchased our solar system from Hooked on Solar. It was installed on schedule and done in a very professional manner. Our concerns over placement of panels were met and dealt with to our satisfaction. We are extremely happy with the entire process. We recommend Hooked on Solar. read more

We worked with Justin to design a second Sun Power System at our home. Justin is awesome. During the sales process, he was knowledgeable and experienced in helping us design a system that would meet our needs for both power and cost. He made sure we saved his name and number in case we ever needed anything. We have reached out to him multiple times and he is always very helpful. I have referred him several times to friends and family. He is the kind of person who will be there for you pre-install, during installation, and post-install. Our home is an older one that has been remodeled several times. The old electrical panel and electrical system can be... complicated. It was a challenge for the install crew and took a few days to complete. They had to add a large high-wattage sub-panel on a brick home in a tight inside corner with an already existing older sun power solar system. Not easy. Rodney the Project Manager did a great job including making a trip out to our home to figure out why our pool pump had stopped running after the install crew had left on the second day. We had just left on vacation and he made sure to restore power to our pump so we could enjoy ourselves and not worry about our pool. Overall our experience with Hooked on Solar was excellent. I can only imagine that if you have a newer, simpler home, this process would be easy as pie for them. However, if you have a more challenging home like ours, they can do an outstanding job on that too. read more

We worked with their electricians and panel installers over a period of 2 weeks. We found them to be extremely competent, careful and thoughtful throughout the entire process. The system has been functioning flawlessly for over a year. We highly recommend them! read more

I've had my panels for almost five years now and I'm still happy with my decision. Before I decided to go with Hooked on Solar, I did some homework on other brands of solar panels. In the end knew I wanted Sunpower Panels. It was just a matter of who will install them for me; I'm glad I chose Hooked on Solar. Micheal Blase is the solar consultant who helped answer all of my questions and concerns. I recently inquired about adding batteries to my system and til this day, he is still very helpful and informative. read more

Hello Chad & Hooked on Solar Team!!! I just wanted to write you this note to let you know what a terrific team you have. Especially Roy and Brianna. Both of them are very professional, exceedingly talented, respond instantly to comms from me, patiently answered all of my questions and delivered on their promises. My first installation had some issues. I complained and you sent a 2nd crew to reinstall everything. You made it right. The do-over was terrific. Props to Jeff and Roy for a very nice, clean, installation. Thank you for that. Since then, the process to get permitted, all approved from PG&E plus the county of Lake, all smooth. Everything works great and I just got my SGIP rebate check for $13,200.00 as promised and within the expected time window. Another smooth process thanks to your SGIP team and NEM team. Again, I could not be happier. Thank you so much. I will use Hooked on Solar when I upgrade my system ahead of an EV purchase. I cannot express enough how much I appreciate Ashlee Hahn from Hooked on Solar. Not only was she amazing during the purchase process but she has continued to be an ally. We have had continued issues with SunPower and Ashlee has supported us the entire way. She has continued to be in our "court" and fight for us to see reimbursement. I am very appreciative! This gal needs a RAISE! Thank you ASHLEE read more

STAY AWAY. Worst experience ever. Inspection failed 3 TIMES due to basic not to code mistakes! Some major mistakes that Jeff (VP of operation), justified as "speed bumps" like it's "normal" to run through those issues...but not knowing and not installing according to National Electric Code is being INCOMPETENT! System was rejected for wrong clamps being installed, then the EV outlet cable was missing a conduit, and finally, the last straw, the EV outlet metal box was NOT connected to the GROUND!!!! Absolutely horrible communication from the staff beside Justin Orban, who not only facilitated the design process, but also helped us reaching out to employees internally to get answers on our issues when others were unresponsive (I'm saving your name, but you will recognize yourself...). Other issues we encountered: - The crew who came installing the system....did NOT follow the original approved permit design, therefore, all the drawings needed to be re-submitted and re-approved. - The EV breaker was approved to be installed outside. They couldn't find a breaker to fit in the main panel, thus, breaker needed to be installed inside, which triggered ANOTHER permit amendment/approval. Yes, at the end of the day, the system works.....after 5-6 months of brain damage but I do NOT recommend anyone to work with Hooked on Solar. read more

We had our micro inverters replaced in December 2023 and a surge protector put on the system. In July 2024 we noticed 12/28 panels stopped working. Sun Power directed us to call Hooked on Solar to fix them. We called on July 22nd and they said a work ticket was created. We have been ghosted ever since. We leave message after message, call, email everything and no one has helped or returned our calls. Meanwhile we are paying more with PG&E while we wait. Very frustrating and disappointing. read more

Like so many of us, I had explored solar for many years. I've had people on the phone and I've had people come to the house. Some seemed good, others were clearly just interested in a sale. I'm glad I waited and I'm happy with my decision to go with SunPower by Hooked on Solar. Panel quality, inverter quality and type, and company backing made me think SunPower was the best choice. Having an inverter on each panel if brilliant. While SunPower has started doing some installations, I like the security of a company that is focused on installation and support. Justin Orban, with Hooked on Solar, was fantastic to speak with from the beginning and he continues to patiently guide me through how to handle the first year tax rebate and assessment of my system. There were some options that I'm sure would have made them more money, but he recommended against in my situation. I was impressed with his knowledge, his communication, his kindness, and his integrity. This has continued to be the case for nearly a year. i have been so happy with him that I sent my nephew, a smart business guy, to him and he is signed up for installation. I was a bit concerned that Justin and Hooked on Solar are 1 1/2 away, but that has made no difference at all. Every step, from design to installation to support, has been without problems. I should add that they have a nice efficiency tracking app and very modern web presence and form processing. What else? The system is working well and the panels, while not that visible, look good. The global situation validates that it is certainly time to go solar. I hope more people do. Good luck! read more

Very satisfied with final install, system performance and guidance Hooked on Solar and Ashlee provided throughout the process, which ended up saving a significant amount compared to others we had bid on the project. I spoke with their consultant a few days ago. He provided me with some very useful information and I really appreciate it. However, at the end, when I requested him to send me the proposal so that I can analyze and compare it with other proposals I had, he got upset. He was forcing me to sign the paperwork while we were talking and said that I have 7 days to cancel it. I said I am not comfortable signing it today as I need some time to do my research. To which he asked me: 1. What will you do in two days? Will you sit on the proposal or what? 2. If you have any concerns, I can resolve them right now to which I said I just need some space and time and I will get back to you in 2-3 days. To which he said, well, I am busy, let's use this time and do the paperwork right now. I requested him at least 5 times to send me the proposal, but he kept asking me why, why, why...... why not sign right now... I have never worked with any company/contractor that is so forceful. Basically, he forced me to sign the paperwork on the spot to an extent that I really got upset and angry. His proposal was better than the other two I had, but given all these, I am uncomfortable working with this company. Later I sent an email to the person who called me the first time, but I didn't receive any response. read more

I had my system installed 18months ago. I'm happy with the system and installation, however the service is nonexistent. I live on a golf course, one of my panels was damaged by a golf ball. I made three attempts to call for service so I could get an estimate on a replacement panel. No one answers the phone when you press for service, so I pressed #1 for new customer and of course got an answer. I explained what I needed, and the operator said she sent a message to the service department, and she gave me the direct number. I waited a week and got no call. I have since called the direct service number and left messages yet still no return call. read more

I signed a contract for batteries in April of 2020 and was told that they would be installed when we needed them in Feb 2021. It is now July and nothing. They answer the phone for sales but not not option 2 for customers that have not yet been installed. It is hard to get a straight answer, one month it will be 6 weeks out and then after 6 weeks, it is two more months! The sales person was great but the follow through has been horrible. read more

We had a great experience with SunPower by Hooked on Solar who did two projects on our house in Berkeley. We couldn't have been happier with their work. Justin Orban did an outstanding job of putting the project together, explaining the economic & environmental benefits, and making sure that all the work was done as planned. We had the first project with 10 PV panels installed in 2018, and in 2022 we added two more PV panels and a Tesla battery. Everything went smoothly and the system now covers all our household and car-charging electricity use. After one of the PG&E power outages last winter, we invited our neighbors to come over to charge their phones and use our place for work as we still had internet--and heat--and they were interested in learning more about the resilience of the system. We were happy to refer them to Justin and the SunPower Hooked on Solar team. Not just for the referral fee--which was nice--but for the assurance that they, too, would have a good experience. read more

First got solar from Sunpower by Hooked on Solar, then we got the Tesla back up batteries. Was great experience from day one. Everyone that came to our home was very knowledgeable and did a exceptional job. Ashlee Hanh was our solar representative and was so helpful. Would highly recommend Sun Power by Solar and their team. Thanks to all who made the job so easy. read more

So after my last review Hooked on Solar really stepped it up, and has 1) fixed all my issues, and 2) has gone above and beyond in researching any questions I have around my production. Many thanks to Roger Stephens and his team for tackling my issues, and being very easy to get a hold of and prompting answering my questions. In particular, my system was producing soooo well in the summer months (seriously overproducing and I was very happy about that!) that when we got to fall (my first fall with the system in place) I didn't realize how quickly the production would change. I was convinced that there must be an issue with the production but they thoroughly researched it and came back with numbers to show that I was producing more than expected for that month. I had forgotten how much lower the fall and winter production is supposed to be. They also sorted out the issues with the system switching back and forth to battery. I also went through my first blackout during a high wind event (you know, the winds that cause the big wildfires we are having) and everything worked PERFECLY. I will also give them credit for taking care of this during the pandemic which I'm sure impacts their operations like it does for most businesses. So all in all, while we did have a rocky start, I am happy with where we ended up, and in particular that my system is producing so well :) read more

Beware SunPower is prompt in installing equipment. Then the nightmare begins. We have waited for months to have the job released to PGE. The recently installed SunVault battery on my house needed to be moved to another location at my house due to power-inverter buzzing noise at night just outside a bedroom. The SunPower project manager, Rodney, was friendly and responsive to my request and promptly had Roy's battery crew return to make the battery move. The SunPower electricians moved the SunVault, made the necessary conduit and re-wiring changes, and had the system back in operation within 4 hours without any issues.
