I had a local company in Roseville install my POE security cameras around 2 years ago. I provided the cameras, UNVR, and CAT 6 cable. They did a great job because I haven't had any issues in 2 years. However, my sales representative was terrible. He claimed they could run cables in the attic and to my front door. Of course that was not true. When I was actually able to have him respond to my calls and texts, he tried to gaslight me about having to level a doorbell camera. A doorbell camera that comes with a leveler in the box. They also didn't install the security screw for the camera since nobody read the directions. I decided it was best to not use the same business in order to install my Ubiquiti G6 PTZ cameras. Connected Technology sent an electrician out to my house named Noel to provide an estimate. Thank goodness it wasn't a sales representative like some businesses will use. He didn't overestimate the time it would take to run CAT 6 and install the two cameras either. Other estimates I received from low voltage technicians tried to overinflate the number of hours it would take to do the work. Or they'll try to tack on "training hours" for cameras you know more about than the installers. This wasn't the case with Noel. He provided an estimate of $1.2K for around 4-6 hours of work. Which equated to $200 per hour. Noel was also proficient in terminating CAT 6 via standard RJ45 connectors as opposed to using pass through. I told Noel's boss that he had to do my installation. On the day of the installation, Noel and Aiden of Connected Technology completed the job in 5.5 hours. I was very surprised by Noel and Aiden's professionalism and courtesy. They showed up at 8 AM unlike the previous installers who showed up one hour after they were supposed to arrive. Noel and Aiden were very respectful of my lawn and plants. They didn't tear up my drip lines, plants, or trample my lawn. In fact, they stayed off the grass. I appreciate them showing a lot of respect for a lawn that I grow myself. These young men worked with a high level of attention to detail. The CAT 6 was completely hidden along the first level eaves of the house. I love how they actually took the time to remove the previous cable clips that were bundled together. I had other installers tell me that they would just run the extra CAT 6 cables for the cameras and add zip ties. I immediately knew those aren't the right individuals to hire. I consider that as sheer laziness. I paid $200 an hour for a professional installation. Noel and Aiden exceeded my expectations. The CAT 6 cables were run by Noel and Aiden. Noel mounted and installed my G6 PTZ cameras. After plugging the CAT 6 into the cameras, my UNVR immediately recognized the new G6 PTZs for adoption. The only minor issue with the installation was the fact that the manufacturer guidance wasn't followed. The CAT 6 was run down from the eaves and straight into the back of the camera. It should have been run down the eaves, around the mount, and up into the mount via an opening in the bottom. This approach creates an automatic drip loop for the camera. I notified Natalie and Jennifer who work as customer service representatives for Connected Technology of the issue. They immediately had Noel return to remedy the situation. I even got the opportunity to exchange texts with the owner of Connected Technology named Bill. Bill, Natalie, and Jennifer were absolutely phenomenal in handling the issue unlike the previous business I used. I really appreciate their ability to listen and resolve the situation as opposed to gaslighting the customer. read more

Our experience started off a little rough. We had to wait months for an appt (due to the rush in solar for tax rebates), then once our appt finally came up, it turned out that the company had accidentally ordered the wrong part. Apparently, the correct part was more expensive, but the company honored their original quote. They received the new part and rescheduled me pretty quickly. I was able to meet the 4/15/23 deadline for NEM2 eligibility by having solar panels installed at our home in Auburn. Enphase Energy, of which their IQ8A micro inverters were installed on our panels, had recently sent me an email indicating that I could qualify for a 30% rebate if I had batteries installed by 12/31/25. Although I've relied on a portable generator during outages in the past, the benefit of batteries in tandem with the solar panels was very appealing, especially during rain events when I relied on sump pumps to prevent flooding on our driveway/garage! So I had inquired on Next Door for recommendations of installers. I received several recommendations, including Connected Technology. I decided to go with this company over two others. I was very impressed with the detail that Roland had provided on his visit. Whereas one of the sales people indicated that a meter collar adapter could be used for our two 200 amp subpanels, Roland made me aware that I would require a more expensive installation. Furthermore, Roland clarified that the batteries could be installed within the garage and not on an exterior wall! When it came time for the installation, Brian, Joel & Dan were an awesome team! Brian ensured that the delivery of material was accurate prior to Joel & Dan's arrival the following day. They installed raceway gutters from the main panel to the Tesla Gateway within the garage, including conduit for the two Powerwall 3 batteries, and not to mention the task of rewiring a dozen 15A & 20A breakers to a new panel within the garage on day 2! After spending a lot of time looking at different solar installation companies I settled with choosing Connected Technology for a few reasons: I wanted a quality install, I needed a local established company (they have been around a while) just in case I needed support, and I wanted the company to have a good track record with customer satisfaction. Check, check, check. There were some other companies that met that criteria but CT was the only one that would also install Tesla batteries (required for the SMUD rebate). The only cons were ones that were expected. They weren't the cheapest (or the most expensive) but I felt it was definitely worth it for the above reasons. Also the project did not happen overnight. Overall I think it took approximately 6 months from first call to producing power. I expected as much though and I think you're going to have a similar timeline with most companies. The install is clean, there have been zero issues with production, and everything is working EXACTLY as advertised. I also liked Roland (who was my main point of contact). He never tried to upsell me. In fact, he initially recommended a smaller system (the one that had the best return on investment) but I'm a weirdo that wanted to produce the most power possible. You can tell Roland genuinely nerds out on every aspect of their service and he never sugar coated anything. He is detail oriented. I would recommend CT for those who want quality and peace of mind. read more

I have been a customer of Connected Technology for years. I initially found them when I needed to install an EV charger back in 2020. They were able to do that work and also add in a few extra outlets in the garage and my experience was extremely positive. Later when we moved into a much older house we had all sorts of electrical problems and we were grateful to have these guys around. Besides installing an EV charger in the new home, They were able to troubleshoot some aged breakers, as well as hang a ceiling fan and install can lighting in our bedroom. They also helped add a few outlets in bathrooms and a closet I am using as a server closet. I joked "the electrical in this house is sorta garbage, but everything you guys touch works great!". The only negative experience I had was that after working on a breaker box, the city inspector said it couldn't be where it is (sorta in the primary bathroom en-suite). Well they didn't put it there, so that isn't exactly their fault, but the city required them to bring it up to code anyways since they touched it! Since it was their mistake, they worked with the city to get a variance so they wouldn't have to move it (and rewire the whole house) and instead they replaced the box with an outdoor-rated one, and they did all the corrective work for no additional cost to me. Things like this happen and I appreciate them handling it to the best of their ability, though I wish it didn't take so long. They made sure I was happy with the end result. Since they had to come back to do the box anyways, I had a list of other things for them to work on by then and they were able to add more outlets, hang another fan or two, and help me figure out why the kitchen microwave was acting wonky. If you batch your projects together, they are able to give economy of scale discounts. For example, to add one of the outlets they had to run some conduit in my garage, so they told me there would be a small box right in the corner near by workbench. I said "hey, actually, could you put an outlet there too while you are at it?" and they said "no problem, that's easy!" and they were able to do it and only charge me for the parts, since they had to run the wires already for the other previously-quoted project. There were several examples of their commitment to quality in this batch of projects. They carefully balanced every ceiling fan to make sure they don't rock or make thumping noises. One of the fans we ordered (ourselves) was damaged in shipping, but they pointed it out right away and we were able to fix it, which they certainly didn't have to do. They always take care to label every circuit on the breaker box, even ones they didn't put in, when possible. They make sure to use matching plates when possible (our outlet face-plates are brushed silver, not white), and even make sure the flat-head screws are pointing the right way so everything looks nice! Every person I've worked with from Connected Technology is friendly, competent, and trustworthy. For larger jobs, they often send a few folks and there is sometimes a junior person there to learn, which I love to see. In technology, a culture of mentorship builds exceptional teams. read more

We were experiencing an intermittent inverter fault, backed up by unusually low AC output. While a pleasant company to work with, Connected Technology's ability to diagnose a technical fault and suggest reasonable corrective action remains in doubt. Despite providing error codes and panel display information to their tech, they could not diagnose any trouble. They patched a few exposed panel cables and left pricey recommendations for panel-related preventative work. But, no fault diagnosis, fix, or followup. After a brief (3min) conversation with the inverter manufacturer, We learned that the inverter was in fact failing and needed to be replaced. To make matters worse, when we asked Connected Technology to quote a replacement for the faulty inverter, the price was really high. They wanted $4500 to install a similar, yet lower quality inverter (retails for about $1500), leaving about $3000 of the bill for not more than 4 man-hours of work in the garage. It's like they see dollar signs when as they drive up to a house with already-installed solar. Our replacement cost was $2200, less than half. So, while new-install reviews here on Yelp are so good, the company's ability to diagnose problems remains in doubt. Oh, and despite the failure to work-through to a diagnosis, Connected Technology charged us the full amount without even an apology.
