I had solar installed for my home several months ago after finding Sunwave Energy on Google. I decided to wait a few months before posting a review so I could get a strong understanding of the level of financial savings I would experience over several months time. I have to say, I am so happy with my decision and my savings even slightly exceeded what my projected savings had. When I began shopping for solar I was pretty new to the concept and really needed to work with a company who was willing to educate me and walk me through the entire process. I contacted three companies and received consults/quotes from each of them. I worked directly with the owner of Sunwave, Jose Alvarez. He was knowledgeable, professional and detail-oriented and he clearly enjoys what he does. That was a huge determining factor for me in making my purchasing decision. I also found his price to be very competitive in comparison to the other estimates I received. I am very happy with my decision to give this locally-owned business my support. I would highly recommend considering them for your solar project. read more

I am not sure how this dude has so many stars? Paid reviews I am guessing. Empty promises and always out of town or country when you call. then says he will call you when he returns. Waited a few days then found another company. It's been over 6 months and I still haven't had a call back about a repair. read more

We have had this system for close to two years now, and have been very happy with our solar panels. During the installment process, Jose was extremely helpful in explaining how the project would go. Thankfully the entire job went mostly according to schedule. We had a minor hiccup with SMUD, but was quickly resolved. If you are in the market for solar panels, I would definitely suggest Sunwave. read more

I felt comfortable with Jose right away while shopping around for the right contractor. I was not just looking for the best price (though Sunwave was very competitive) but a partner who would finish my project on time and without any additional costs, and Sunwave delivered. I've had numerous questions after the installation and Jose remains responsive and wants to make sure my system functions at peak performance. Thanks to Sunwave, my project was approved by PG&E before the new year and I should see a decent credit in my tax return this year! Now, if the sun would just come out... read more

Jose and crew are awesome!!! I had a repair job that I couldn't get anybody to fix, several had tried ... Jose said his guy could do it and I was skeptical because another guy couldn't do it and flaked. Jose said his guy could do it. No problem he sent Robert and Robert was the most professional polite, and skilled worker .... he definitely knows his inside and out, especially if you need a repair and maintenance or have wiring or issues or any other thing. he started from the bottom and worked his way up top and back down and got it repaired now I'm up and running after 6 months down!!! At a fair price too! Joe D read more

I'd like to give a BIG thanks to Sunwave Energy for fixing the solar leak just in time for the opening of summer pool parties in our backyard. I called about four shops to fix the leak on my pool solar and ONLY Sunwave Energy agreed to come over and assess the problem. Nicolas as came out as scheduled and replaced the bad connectors and resealed the joints which ultimately fixed the leak. read more

I really don't understand why anyone would rate this company any lower than 5 stars?!? 1). They are local and the owner José is professional, easy to work with and extremely responsive. 2). The parts he sources and contractors to do the install are top notch. 3). The cost for installation was 15% less than all the other solar companies I quoted. All in all, Sunwave will get the job done for you. read more

Jose and his team are amazing. Very helpful and informative. Install was easy and clean. Would definitely recommend!

I had no idea what I was doing having solar installed. All of my questions were patiently answered. All my concerns about the roof and pipes were all addressed. The installation team did a great job. I am not getting the amount of predicted energy but I have shade trees I think the model didn't quite adjust for. That said I am quite happy and would trust them again. read more

Great customer service! I definitely recommend him for solar installs! Jose is a great guy who fixes any sort of issue.

Sunwave was a pleasure to work with from the beginning to the end. Very professional and responsive. They set out to do what they quoted me from the beginning and even replaced broken tiles that I've had for years! Now I'm happy to say my bill is zero and I'm storing my own power! Thanks Sunwave! read more

Bart H. Power failures here are infrequent but we had a solar installation with battery backup because my wife is dependent on medical equipment. When our installation failed and both the manufacturer and the installer were out of business I contacted José to install a replacement. He sent his crew who installed an Enphase system. When we had our first power failure the battery backup failed. José then sent Robert to try to determine what was going on. He determined that the system had been installed incorrectly and that one control component they had installed was inappropriate for the system that was installed. Robert replaced the incorrect component and reinstalled the system. There was a several week delay before Robert was able to fully activate the system while José acquired certification with Enphase to work on that system. During that time I decided to add a second battery bank. José quoted me $1,000 for a second bank but charged me $7,000. When Robert was finally able to try activating the system (March of this year -- 2025) he could not get either of the battery banks to function. A couple of weeks later, Enphase sent a technician who was able to verify that both battery banks were bad. I have seen nobody from Sunwave Energy since March and, as of this date (19 July) we still have a non-functioning battery backup. José has been paid in full for the system and attempted to push it onto me to deal with Enphase to get the issue sorted out. I advised him that, before I deal directly with Enphase, he needs to deliver an operative system. At this point, I have documentable payments to José for about $32,000. José has stopped returning my calls and I will be meeting with an attorney next week to review my options. read more

I had a great experience with Jose for my solar panel installation. Jose and I wait for SMUD team to inspect and install the smart meter for 2 hrs last Wednesday. He is nice, professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. The installation went smoothly. Highly recommend them to anyone looking to go solar! read more

I have to said I'm very impressed of way both Jeff and Jose go out of their way for their customer. I hired them to remove and reinstall my solar panels and there were some broken roof tile when they are up there. Instead of walk away they took care of the broken tiles and replaced it for me with no charge even they didn't break it!! That is amazing. Jeff is so knowledgeable and super helpful and nice. He goes the extra miles to make sure everything goes well and when he saw an uncap electric wire on the side of my yard he even cap it for me with no charge. I'll definitely will hire them again and I think I also found my go to electrician for my house for our next project ! Definitely recommend both Jose and Jeff! read more

Wasn't in the market for solar at all. Spoke with Jose and his team at Sunwave Energy and we were very impressed with his vast options for solar for my home! My solar is installed and I got my first bill from PGE at zero dollars! Feels great to have renewable energy on my roof! Thanks again! read more

We contracted Sunwave to replace our pool solar panels and install a solar controller. Jose was very responsive in all parts of the sales and installation process. What really impressed me, and the reason why I'm giving 5 stars, is the "service after the sale." There was an aesthetic part with the install we did not love. I let Jose know and, no questions asked, he came out and fixed it immediately. There was another issue with how the system functioned that turned out to have nothing to do with the install (pool panel problem). Jose patiently worked with me to get it figured out. It's really rare these days to find a company that will stand by their quality and help a buyer after they get paid, and Sunwave is that rare company. Pool solar works awesome and we are enjoying having a warm pool this summer. Thank you Sunwave Energy and Jose! read more

I had Sunwave Energy install the solar system for my house. The whole process went smoothly and exactly as quoted by Jose. I would recommend Sunwave Energy to anyone who wants to add solar to their house. read more

Initially my wife and I were only looking at pool solar, and out of the previous three vendors we spoke to we had pretty much resigned ourselves to the fact that we weren't going to go with any solar at all. The three previous vendors either didn't come across right, couldn't get their numbers correct, or just didn't have their act together. That was until we talked to Sun Wave energy. Jose arrived on time was very easy-going, laid-back, no pressure. As we were talking he did happen to mention electrical solar for the house... We hadn't really considered it due to the fact that we had looked into it previous years and at the time it did not make financial sense. However with the programs that Jose had access to, plus a very generous veteran discount, this was a no-brainer. We ended up going both with the pool and the home solar together as a package, therefore only one low payment. Our first month of home solar decreased our electric bill by more than 80%. The installation was very timely, everything went for the most part, very well (there was one broken solar panel when the installers had shown up, however it was replaced in a very short amount of time); The installers were courteous professional hard-working and made sure that the job was done right and done right the first time. We cannot be more happy with both the pool and the electrical solar from Sun Wave... We certainly would go with them again if we ever moved or had another house in the area. Big big thank you to Jose and his team, you guys have certainly earned our business and our referrals. read more

I recently contacted a few solar companies to find out if it made sense for us to get solar on our home. Jose came out and spent a lot of time going over the benefits of solar with us. He was clearly very knowledgeable and we appreciated his expertise. We felt he was genuine and up front about what he could offer. We called him a few times with questions and he was always quick to respond with a detailed response. It was because of this, that we decided to go with Sunwave. Our panels and battery were installed quicker than he had estimated. We are very happy with our decision to purchase solar from him. We will be contacting him for our pool solar next! read more

We hired Sunwave Energy to install solar for our house as well as our pool. We could not be more pleased with how the process went. Jose was the most thorough out of any other company we talked to. He came to our house and helped educate my wife and I on our solar journey. He inspected the roof and shaded areas, then presented the most accurate proposal we had seen from multiple other companies as well. He is not a pushy salesperson, very easy to understand, and is ready to answer any question you may have about the install process, etc. We are very happy with how our install went and the value in saving projected on our bills. Go with Jose and his team, you'll see the difference! read more

Sunwave Energy just installed solar on our house in May. The entire process was very professional. I also liked that there was never any sales pressure from Sunwave for me to go with them. They presented it to me and then gave me time to do some research. The install was very professionally done. The two small electrical boxes were mounted on the inside of our garage. This made for a very clean look. All you can see from the outside are the solar panels. I would highly recommend Sunwave Energy! You read more

I had a great experience with Jose's Company. He helped me get solar and got me all set up. Just recently had a problem with my solar so I called Jose and he took care of the problem asap. I highly recommend him to anyone who's looking to get solar. Thanks for Everything Jose! read more

Jose was great to work with. Very happy with his service. System is working well. Pricing was reasonable.

Sunwave was awesome. The subcontractor they assigned my project to was horrible. I bought by residential solar system through Sunwave. Since I didn't know anything about solar systems, I did a lot of online research to figure out what size system would be appropriate for my usage. I had a pretty good idea of the size system I required prior to talking to any sellers. I purposely don't mention that I did any research and "play dumb" when I talk to the sales reps to see if they try to upsell me a system. Jose was the most honest and straightforward person I talked to. SMUD is my electric provider, and they still have pretty good rates. Jose even recommended that I don't buy a battery system because the extra cost isn't justified with my energy rates and the current NEM structure. He recommended that I purchase just enough panels to meet my daily energy demand, and his calculations based on my past year's energy usage was spot on with my research estimates. When I committed to the sale, I was told it would probably take about 4 - 6 weeks for a fully operational system. My contract was assigned to Infinity Energy...and from there, my experience was frustrating. After signing the contracts and paying initial costs, communication basically stopped. I received an occasional call from Infinity stating they were still waiting for materials. Fast forward to 2 months later, I get a call from Jose, and he basically tells me Infinity is a sinking ship, they have the solar panels, but they can't get any installers to do the work. He offers to take the contract back over, and he has the ability to get installers out to my house within a few days. He meant what he said, and the installers were extremely professional and had my system installed within a few days. It took another few weeks until SMUD installed a meter and gave the OK to connect to the grid. My solar has been online for a few months now, and I am very satisfied with my system. The size is perfect, as it covers all my daytime usage and I am barely exporting energy out to the grid (as designed). read more

My wife and I purchased solar from Jose at sunwave energy 2 years ago. We went with him because of his knowledge of solar and responsiveness. He answered a ton of questions quickly and was open and honest about the process. We also got a killer rate for financing with his bank. Fast forward to a month ago and we had our inverter go down. Jose was quick to confirm the issue and order a new one from SolarEdge. There were some issues with the delivery but Jose went above and beyond to track the inverter down and recover it. He has his electrician install it shortly after and we are up and running again. I highly recommend Sunwave Energy for your solar needs. read more

Jose was very professional & knows what he doing. Highly recommend to people who getting into solar. He will take care of you.

I have been looking to upgrade my solar for some time. Initially, my solar was great, but as time went on and PGE kept raising rates, my bills got progressivley higher. I had a quote for 42k to ADD to my current system a few years ago, which I wasn't going to pay. I contacted these guys when my true up was almost 9k this year! Turns out my inverter stopped working a year ago and never sent energy to the grid...Arrghh, and I had no way to monitor this as my solar was put in over 10 years ago. They could replace just my inverter or ADD more panels and replace the inverter for just under 11k! They did the job quickly, too. Very happy. read more

My wife and I shopped around for solar in West Roseville. We entertained a few quotes from local solar companies. José at Sunwave was the only one that got back to us within minutes and asked all the questions we didn't even think to ask or address. After meeting with the various companies we felt we wanted to move forward with Jose and his team. He was really competitive and knew his industry well without making us feel a certain way. Install day came and the crew got here on time and everything went according to plan. They even replaced some tiles that were broken from years ago! Communication was timely and we got approved for our system from Roseville Electric in a little under 4 weeks! His team took the time to walk me through how to monitor my system and now I'm up and running and saving money! My payback shook out to 7yrs for my system and I couldn't be happier! read more

I reached out to Jose due to an issue with my Solar System not generating power. He was extremely responsive and even came out after hours to help trouble shoot the system. After finding the issue he walked through the different scenarios to correct the issue. My system was outdated, the company that installed it is no longer in business and parts are not easily accessible. Not only did Jose make it easy he found the replacement parts stuffed away in some warehouse hours away and picked them up. On top of this, Jose's installers, Jeff and Chris, come out on a Sunday afternoon to swap the parts out and get me up and running. Jeff and Chris were honest and took the time to walk me through what they were doing, what I could expect and even made me more knowledge about my current system. The install went off without a hitch and the guys were extremely professional. Sunwave could have easily said the parts don't exist and attempted to sell me a new unit, but they didn't. They did the right thing for the customer and that is hard to find these days. I found my solar company for any future needs and will recommend to others. Great work. read more

I highly recommend Sunwave Energy!!! Been looking at getting solar for the pool. Met with Jose and he was 0 pressure. He just explained the facts to me and provided a quote. I liked it so much I went with solar for the entire house and the pool. Absolutely love it!!! Total game changer for my pool. It is so nice to swim with a constant temperature regardless of shade. The crews were great, professional, and friendly. My recommendation is to stop thinking about getting solar and just do it. I crunched the numbers and it just made sense. I absolutely hate silly sale tactics and there was none of that with Sunwave. Really appreciate the facts and professionalism! read more
