That was a huge advantage for us, since other contractors were pushing us toward NEM 3.0. Their sales team was patient, helpful, and not pushy at all. They walked us through our options clearly, were honest about scheduling constraints, and still found a way to get us in on a pretty good timeline. Any home renovation project has bumps, and this one had its fair share: after initial install they monitor the systems production remotely to see if it's doing what it's supposed to/expected to, and my system was initially under-performing. They caught it and sent out a team to problem solve it, which took a couple tries, but they didn't drag their feet, they kept on it and kept at it and got it resolved. It was no fault of theirs, just a technology glitch. Core fear was that they would give up after a couple failures and leave me following up with them to get it done, but I never had to worry about that. I also did not end up liking where they placed the control box- it was something that was going to make future maintenance of my house trim problematic down the line. They willingly moved it up a few inches for me (and my only complaint was the team that did that didn't patch the original hole as efficiently as they should have. If I had understood the box placement better on the first pass that would never have happened, so this is a bit of a complaint of my own making.) Jon Landsman, who sold me the system, stayed with us the whole time tracking the project, checking in, and following through on every detail, every question, every concern. He never made me feel like the demanding diva that I am, was always prompt and gracious! The bottom line is that start to finish, even with a few bumps in the road, I have zero question that this is a company that legitimately cares about doing what is right. I was happy to use and support a small local company. But the after-installation support has been ATROCIOUS. They do not answer calls or emails (apart from the sales guy, Jake; but even he has been avoiding my number now*) Avoid this company if you need a long-term functional system. (My background: I'm an engineer myself, so it's not like I need a huge amount of support and I have a fairly deep knowledge of electrical systems and can use the app..) My system has been non-functional for about 5 months now and they have not returned **any** calls, and only returned an email to say they were busy. They also returned an email to say the owners had retired and put me in touch with someone else (Brad), who also is not replying. 1. Initially circuit breakers were not labelled at all (I had to chase them up about this) 2. Some things were not even put on the backup battery (lights, fridge(!)) 3. The battery developed a fault and has been non-operational or 5 months. Despite Generac being willing to fund the repairs, Auburn Solar just will not schedule the work 4. I tried to ask them to combine it with a different meter - which Jake sold me on originally - but again, they were not able to do the work. AVOID this company if you want a system that works, and need any kind of support because it breaks down. *we did a little test of this: my girlfriend called up enquiring about a new system.
