I grew up on Long Island and started working at a seafood restaurant at the age of 16. I have tasted fresh fish empanadas in seaside villages in Uruguay and eaten smoked salmon straight from the smokehouses in western Ireland, and I will say this is truly authentic and outstanding American East Coast quick bites seafood. Just how it should taste and just as it should be priced. What I absolutely love about this place is that the prices are fair and in line with top quality, fresh seafood. So many seafood restaurants (especially in Montauk and the Hamptons) are totally overpriced and not at all worth the money. The fish is frozen or flown in from elsewhere. The food here is prepared fresh to order and with local ingredients. Lobster salad roll is superb. Not a true lobster roll but outstanding nevertheless. Fresh meat and very generously portioned! The owners are also lovely people. Very down to earth and they hire lovely people as well. I was in here after Labor Day and despite being totally packed and overwhelmed all in the midst of a pandemic these folks, including the employee at the register were friendly, warm, polite, patient, and engaging despite the stress of serving so many people. Not sure why the woman wasn't listening when we placed our order: 1 arugula salad, 2 fish tacos, 1 fried clam strips, one chowder, 1 poke bowl and 1 mac and cheese. Never got the poke bowl. Got 3 orders of fish tacos......we were not walking back there. When we got there we got an order of shrimp cocktail from the refrigerated section. The food is good. I ordered their fried clam strips, and they were awesome! It came in a boat, meaning a lot of them with fries. I recommend splitting it with someone if possible because it can be a lot, but I was impressed with the staff. They weren't too long of a wait, and you sit right outside. After a near-perfect day exploring the illustrious seaside town of Montauk, my girlfriend and I knew we had to settle for some local seafood. Since the immensely popular lobster roll was a little out of our budget, we looked to Hooked to satiate our appetites for some nautical fare. Boy, did they deliver! We settled for a order of calamari (which I believe was caught that day), I had the fish tacos and sweet potato fries, and my girlfriend had fried scallops and regular fries. Everything was incredibly fresh, and the accoutrements to my fish tacos were superb. The chili sauce for the calamari was excellent, and the fries were fresh and soft, but not soggy. Ordered steamers, oysters and clams on the half shelf, and fried scallops. Each item was delicious and we thought that if we ever returned to Montauk, we know at least one place to go for fresh seafood. This August we made a three-day trip to Montauk with the aim of dining in Hooked at least once. We dined here two out of the three nights, and nothing we ordered disappointed us. Food - 5/5 stars. Ordered: - Grilled swordfish over greens - delicious. Fish was fatty and tender, and perfectly grilled. - Grilled tuna over greens - did not disappoint. - Steamers - fresh! - Tuna poke - chunks of fresh tuna perfectly marinated with their house sauce and vinaigrette placed on top of soba noddles, mushrooms and cucumbers. - BBQ baby back ribs - excellent non-seafood option. Ribs stays firm on the bone until you eat it and the meat comes off the bone cleanly. Served with fries and cornbread. - And lastly, the best surprise of them all, the tiramisu. Worth every calorie, penny, or whatever it is that you count. Service 5/5 stars - great service! Plain and simple. Servers are there when we need then, and not when we don't. Ambiance 4.5/5 stars. Most of the seating are outdoors in open-air. Only knock on the 0.5 stars is because they don't have their own bathroom for customers to use. If you need to use the bathroom, there is a public comfort station around the block. Hooked - thanks for the great experience. Keep it up. Had the fish and chips two days ago, and it was outstanding. The fish had a very fresh taste, and the batter was superb. The accompanying fries were hot out of the fryer and were equally good. In fact, it was so good that we ended up coming back to try their other offerings. The lobster bisque was rich and creamy, and the crab and corn chowder had a nice cajun kick to it without being overly spicy. We also had their fish tacos and lobster mac, and both were excellent. There is an incredible freshness to everything we ordered, and we could especially taste the local waters in the lobster meat. It's hard to describe but it's the kind of taste that can only be found in fish that's pulled straight out of the water. Aside from the food, Hooked also has a very clean establishment, the owner and his wife are great, and their offerings are locally sourced. The fact that it's also off the main road allows people to enjoy their meals away from the hustle and bustle of the Montauk Highway, and it's a great spot for anyone looking for a casual meal that holds its own against other places in town. I honestly haven't come across many good lobster rolls in the NY area, so for local standards, it's pretty good. My family has been raving about Hooked ALL summer! A favorite! Tonight we did take out... 3 orders: - grilled chicken sandwich and loved it. - baby-back ribs. They were rather large for baby-backs. This a quick-serve/takeout seafood spot, and a solid one at that. We stopped in for lobster rolls and added their New England clam chowder to our order. I was surprised to find that, despite arriving only about 20 minutes after it opened on a weekday, the place was already busy. Fortunately we found seats at a picnic table alongside the building, and our food was still ready in less than 10 minutes. The lobster salad was very good, though the roll/bread was just all right. The chowder was also very good. We'd happily return next time we are in Montauk and maybe explore some of the other items on the menu. read more

The food was mediocre. Not only did they refuse to provide a cup of tap water for my children but will absolutely never go back. They refused to allow my 2 year old daughter to use the bathroom and sent us to a church across the street resulting in her having an accident.
