Great lobster Roll. Would love if it was a brioche roll and toasted with butter. Disappointed my roll was just a potato hot dog bun. Fish bites were great too. Not too oily and thick chunks of tuna. read more

Might have just ordered wrong but the calamari and crabs cakes weren't good. It was all just fine... The fish tacos were alright but nothing special. Probably won't go back. Staff was great and friendly tho. read more

Cute little beachy seafood shack with mostly outdoor seating (except for a few barstools inside), so plan accordingly in inclement weather. The crew ordered: -Corn & crab chowder served of course with New England oyster crackers. (Thick and creamy) -Kids portion mac and cheese -Kale caeser salad (fresh and large-splittable) -sweet potato fries. (Perfectly fried. Delish) -Mahi Mahi tacos. Everything I personally tasted was fresh and yummy. Kids were happy also. The main draw is obviously the seafood and fresh caught fish, but the menu is a tad blended...there's everything from lobster rolls to poke' bowls, and even burgers. Kids menu, items to keep it lighter and healthy, and nosh for veg-heads too. There's locally caught clams, steamers and oysters too. Fish and chips, whole lobsters sold at market price, and a variety of chowders sold in cup or quart, which may be a nice to-go option to reheat for later on a cool night. For vegans, there's a few salads, including a house with quinoa (minus the cojita), corn on the cob, a veggie burger and those delicious sweet potato fries, which should be ordered at least for the table to share. Yum! Service was friendly and it's a casual pay at the counter, bring your buoy number to your table kind of joint. It's an easy stop....easy to park, quick with our order, plenty of seating during the lunch hour in the off season. No complaints from us. I would return for lunch. read more

Delicious fish tacos and coleslaw, the restaurant was immaculately clean, service was very friendly and knowledgeable, and prices were more than fair for Montauk. We will be back! read more

I'm so happy that this place has stayed open during this pandemic. The service was quick and the food as very fresh. We decided to get an order or the calamari and then 2 orders of the crab cakes. The calamari was amazing. The batter was different than I am used to , seemed to have some pepper on it. But it was great. The sweet and sour sauce which accompanied was great for dipping. The crab cakes were fresh and full of crab. Such a great meal. All in all great service and great food from this gem in montauk. I'm happy they remained open for us to give them a try. read more

Great place. Easy to takeout and be socially distant from others. We ordered the lobster rolls. A bit expensive but one of the best I've had. The staff was very friendly and were always tidying and sanitizing everything. Definitely recommend! read more

We visited Hooked for lunch, and our experience didn't match the hype. The oysters we ordered were good but not well presented (broken shells and not over ice). The Mac and cheese tasted like Kraft easy mac and had just a few pieces of lobster in it. And the tuna was quite over cooked (we ordered medium rare and it came out light brown) and not seasoned at all. Perhaps we missed the mark in our order--as the 4.5 star rating suggests they're usually much better--but I was disappointed. read more

Hooked - Lobster roll - Seafood Near Me - Montauk, New York

I grew up on Long Island and started working at a seafood restaurant at the age of 16. I have tasted fresh fish empanadas in seaside villages in Uruguay and eaten smoked salmon straight from the smokehouses in western Ireland, and I will say this is truly authentic and outstanding American East Coast quick bites seafood. Just how it should taste and just as it should be priced. What I absolutely love about this place is that the prices are fair and in line with top quality, fresh seafood. So many seafood restaurants (especially in Montauk and the Hamptons) are totally overpriced and not at all worth the money. The fish is frozen or flown in from elsewhere. The food here is prepared fresh to order and with local ingredients. Lobster salad roll is superb. Not a true lobster roll but outstanding nevertheless. Fresh meat and very generously portioned! The owners are also lovely people. Very down to earth and they hire lovely people as well. I was in here after Labor Day and despite being totally packed and overwhelmed all in the midst of a pandemic these folks, including the employee at the register were friendly, warm, polite, patient, and engaging despite the stress of serving so many people. I was so impressed. Thank you so much for recreating a true Long Island seafood establishment! We have been needing one for a long time. It's been decades! read more

Incredible lobster rolls! Very generous servings of lobster with the right amount of fresh crunchy celery. The staff was very friendly and the service was super quick. We ordered lunch on the phone for a pick up order. Not sure why the woman wasn't listening when we placed our order: 1 arugula salad, 2 fish tacos, 1 fried clam strips, one chowder, 1 poke bowl and 1 mac and cheese. Never got the poke bowl. Got 3 orders of fish tacos......we were not walking back there. When we got there we got an order of shrimp cocktail from the refrigerated section. The food is good. Regretfully one person didn't get what she ordered after paying over $100 for lunch. read more

Best takeout in Montauk. Prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. Stop by you will not be disappointed. The staff is friendly.

Hooked I am! I came with my husband for a quick lunch which was delicious and always hot. I had the fish and chips and little necks. The food was absolutely delicious. The prices of the food were pretty reasonable, I love seafood and the food came out pretty quick and tasted really good. After a near-perfect day exploring the illustrious seaside town of Montauk, my girlfriend and I knew we had to settle for some local seafood. Since the immensely popular lobster roll was a little out of our budget, we looked to Hooked to satiate our appetites for some nautical fare. Boy, did they deliver! We settled for a order of calamari (which I believe was caught that day), I had the fish tacos and sweet potato fries, and my girlfriend had fried scallops and regular fries. Everything was incredibly fresh, and the accoutrements to my fish tacos were superb. The chili sauce for the calamari was excellent, and the fries were fresh and soft, but not soggy. Definitely recommended, and I hope to return sooner than later! A+ read more

I ordered their fried clam strips, and they were awesome! It came in a boat, meaning a lot of them with fries. I recommend splitting it with someone if possible because it can be a lot, but I was impressed with the staff. They weren't too long of a wait, and you sit right outside. Fresh, Delicious, and Best Value in town! 5/5! Hooked is the reason we returned to Montauk for a second trip two years in a row. Last August, we visited Montauk on a day-trip and found this gem. Ordered steamers, oysters and clams on the half shelf, and fried scallops. Each item was delicious and we thought that if we ever returned to Montauk, we know at least one place to go for fresh seafood. This August we made a three-day trip to Montauk with the aim of dining in Hooked at least once. We dined here two out of the three nights, and nothing we ordered disappointed us. Food - 5/5 stars. Ordered: - Grilled swordfish over greens - delicious. Fish was fatty and tender, and perfectly grilled. - Grilled tuna over greens - did not disappoint. - Steamers - fresh! - Tuna poke - chunks of fresh tuna perfectly marinated with their house sauce and vinaigrette placed on top of soba noddles, mushrooms and cucumbers. - BBQ baby back ribs - excellent non-seafood option. Ribs stays firm on the bone until you eat it and the meat comes off the bone cleanly. Served with fries and cornbread. - And lastly, the best surprise of them all, the tiramisu. Worth every calorie, penny, or whatever it is that you count. Service 5/5 stars - great service! Plain and simple. Servers are there when we need then, and not when we don't. Ambiance 4.5/5 stars. Most of the seating are outdoors in open-air. Only knock on the 0.5 stars is because they don't have their own bathroom for customers to use. If you need to use the bathroom, there is a public comfort station around the block. Hooked - thanks for the great experience. Keep it up. We hope to visit you each time we are in the area. read more

Every dish on their menu is fresh and delicious! The staff is very friendly and the beach vibe is awesome!!!

Had the fish and chips two days ago, and it was outstanding. The fish had a very fresh taste, and the batter was superb. The accompanying fries were hot out of the fryer and were equally good. In fact, it was so good that we ended up coming back to try their other offerings. The lobster bisque was rich and creamy, and the crab and corn chowder had a nice cajun kick to it without being overly spicy. We also had their fish tacos and lobster mac, and both were excellent. There is an incredible freshness to everything we ordered, and we could especially taste the local waters in the lobster meat. It's hard to describe but it's the kind of taste that can only be found in fish that's pulled straight out of the water. Aside from the food, Hooked also has a very clean establishment, the owner and his wife are great, and their offerings are locally sourced. The fact that it's also off the main road allows people to enjoy their meals away from the hustle and bustle of the Montauk Highway, and it's a great spot for anyone looking for a casual meal that holds its own against other places in town. We wish them all the best, and look forward to stopping by again. read more

My family has been raving about Hooked ALL summer! A favorite! Tonight we did take out... 3 orders: - grilled chicken sandwich and loved it. - baby-back ribs. They were rather large for baby-backs. And a little dry. The corn bread was very moist. Had Cole slaw instead of fries, large portion and was good. Almost like a broccoli slaw. - mahi mahi. It was also dry. Maybe it was an off night. Previously, family members have had and enjoyed: Kicking corn chowder NE Clam Chowder Fish and chips Will try again! Good deal - especially in MTK. Good seafood. read more

If I could give 3 1/2 stars I would. I went specifically to Hooked excited to try the lobster Mac and cheese. I was disappointed:/ it was just okay. The cheese flavor wasn't too appetizing but there was a good amount of lobster. My stepfather enjoyed his lobster roll! And my mom loved the canned wine, although it did cause $13 for one. read more

New England clam chowder - really good, one of the better ones I've had. Fish tacos - mirroring one of the recent reviews, the slaw is good but the fish itself is so-so Lobster roll - decent for Long Island/its style. I honestly haven't come across many good lobster rolls in the NY area, so for local standards, it's pretty good. Would return to try the other dishes, just a pretty solid casual place to eat read more

This a quick-serve/takeout seafood spot, and a solid one at that. We stopped in for lobster rolls and added their New England clam chowder to our order. I was surprised to find that, despite arriving only about 20 minutes after it opened on a weekday, the place was already busy. Fortunately we found seats at a picnic table alongside the building, and our food was still ready in less than 10 minutes. The lobster salad was very good, though the roll/bread was just all right. The chowder was also very good. We'd happily return next time we are in Montauk and maybe explore some of the other items on the menu. read more
