Our favorite restaurant in Montauk over many years of visits. Delicious food, strong inventive cocktails, lovely service, beautiful landscaping and killer views overlooking the ocean. For our latest dinner we chose daily specials (lamb chops/mashed potatoes/asparagus; and scallops/risotto), both dishes were amazingly good. Lamb chops were thick, nicely charred and not the least bit gamy as is sometimes the case. Service is always fun and friendly. We were thrilled to learn that they're open 7 days a week now! I am a local and always recommend this as the only restaurant to go to for a varied menu with many delicious choices, beautiful ocean view with dolphins and an occasional whale spotted, excellent, warm wait staff and bartender, elegant dining room and porch with cozy fireplace area near the bar and sweet owners watching over and providing a joke or a story to make you smile. Great Find! We ate there twice! We originally had a reservation for only last Thursday, but because we could not get into the Inlet Restaurant at 7PM last Tuesday we decided to take a chance to see if we could get a last minute reservation that same day. We lucked out and they were able to accomodate us at 8:15 pm. I ordered the duck with orange marniere sauce and my husband ordered a cranberry pecan salad. It was the best duck and orange sauce that I have ever eaten! Devon was our waiter. He was outstanding! On Thursday we had a reservation at 6:30. Since we had eaten a late lunch we called and asked if our reservation could be moved to a later time. They were again accommodating and gave us a 7:30 reservation. I decided to order the duck again since it was so delicious and my husband ordered spaghetti and meatballs. For dessert, my husband ordered vanilla bean icecream and I ordered the creme brulee. I highly recommend this restaurant and will go back on my next visit to Montauk. read more

You need reservations, the locals fill in quickly around 7. I love food served properly seasoned so you don't need to add salt or pepper and cocktails are perfectly prepared. Wait staff is friendly and Devon the waiter is quite the character. chef has a great hand with the fish dishes and prices are as expected for Montauk. We got in on their last seating for the 2022 season, they're closed Columbus Day until spring. See you next season. read more

One of the best restaurants in Montauk hiding in plain sight on Old Montauk Highway. Surfside is an Inn and a restaurant. This review is for the restaurant although the reviews for the Inn are also excellent. Montauk in the summer and it is difficult to get a reservation and forget about walking in anywhere and expecting to be seated. We were staying at Hartman's and asked about the possibility of having dinner nest door a Surfside. They said should be no problem give them a call. Of course that raises doubts so we give Surfside a call and they said no problem 7:30 dinner. Now I'm really figuring this place must be a dive or a ptomaine palace. Foolish doubting Dan the place is spectacular in every way just not "discovered" yet. Light and bright with seating inside or out. The outside seating has a view of the ocean across the street. We were seated promptly inside water, drinks, menus and smiling faces. Food was excellent Asian vegetable dumplings, Maple roasted pecan salad and both surf and turf on the menu. We had Ahi tuna and an order of Savanna style shrimp which is shrimp and Andouille sausage sautéed with peppers and other goodies. Go, enjoy, before it gets overrun. read more

Shhhh. Best kept secret in MTK. Have been here twice - once for dinner and once for brunch/breakfast. The owner welcomed us when we arrived. He does have a sarcastic sense of humor, and we found him funny. They allowed us to brings our own wine. (Love this!) Service was good. However if you are in a rush, this is not the place to go. The view is just spectacular! Seriously spectacular! There is valet parking. In side and outside seating options available. Food was perfectly cooked! Fair warning: MTK prices (though not as bad as some) The rolls are as good as one reviewer posted. For dinner our group had: Mozzarella and tomato salad - HUGE stack of cheese and tomatoes, tender greens in the side, balsamic glaze BLT salad - we shared it. The salads are def big enough for two! Yum! NE Clam Chowder - very good. Not too thick. Had good flavor. Scallops - cooked perfectly Pasta bologna - rich and thick sauce Lamb chops -thin lollipop, homemade mint sauce, tender spring beans. While they don't have many vegan-friendly options on the menu, our lovely waitress Helen was helpful with talking with the chef and ensuring a nice meal for my daughter of Asian Vegetable Dumplings and vegetables. Meanwhile, i had a beautifully cooked Roasted boneless 1/2 Duck with Grand Marnier Sauce, Wild Rice & beautifully cooked asparagus. If it wasn't for the spotty service, this place would surely get 5 stars for the ambiance and most importantly the food! The waitress dropped used cutlery and managed to spill over my friend's shirt! She apologized but didn't offer to bring extra napkins or club soda to remove the stain. We had to ask multiple times for more water as well which was annoying as well. The bread they bring out is OUT OF THIS WORLD! It's crusty on the outside and doughy on the inside with a nice yeasty taste (does that make sense? Lol) I managed to control myself enough to enjoy the mussels, baby back ribs, and a bite of my chicken pillard. Everything was delicious! Local. But Saturday in Montauk is a new experience. Arrived at opening, 5pm with a mandatory valet parking. Walked into the restaurant to a gruff "wha you want?" Dinner if possible I responded. "Do you have a reservation". I look around empty no I'm wrong - 1 table out of possible 20 inside at least 10 outside. Uhh "no". "Wait a second". A moment latter my party of three was sitting at a two topper. Place is empty. It's now 45 later and there is 3 more tables occupied. Another couple enters and is shown a 2. topper they complain and given a different table. Maybe I should have complained. Haven't received food yet so can't comment on it. Place is lovely. I guess I'm thankful to be seated. read more

When the owner sits at the bar and degrades her staff while watching television, shouting at the staff loud enough for everyone in the restaurant to hear, "serve that table fast because I don't want to be sitting here all night for just one table". Well, that is just a disgusting display of customer service at best. It's truly sad when I see restaurant owners bust their buts night after night and bend over backward just to get customers in their restaurants, and than to witness such arrogance and disrespect by this owner is sickening. I can honestly say I have never been treated this rude ever, let alone in a restaurant where customer service should be the price of admission. Too bad because the staff was very professional and apologized for her behavior several times. I can only guess she doesn't need the business, which is fine because she will never get mine again!! If I could leave zero stars I would. My husband was brought the wrong dish. They apologized and took it away. They took mine away also. I assumed that they would prepare my dish fresh as is was halibut which does not sit well. When they brought the correct dish back for him ( 10 minutes later)they also brought me my same exact dish. They didn't even bother to reheat it! Needless to say it was cold and nowhere near the quality for which we paid. For the price ( which was outrageous) I was extremely disappointed. The owners give the impression that they don't really care about their business. My advice would be to let someone who wants to open a quality restaurant take over. The view is very pretty but does not compensate for the lack of quality control. There are many great restaurants in Montauk. This is just not one of them. read more
