We came here for lunch on Father's Day. Long Island is in the second phase of reopening, so we were able to sit on the outdoor benches. There was a crowd of people outside waiting for their food. The place is clearly popular, but we had a subpar experience here, and I would in no way recommend it. They had issues with the ordering system, and there is no customer bathroom. We were able to get a seat at one of their tables, but the wait for the food was a bit long, and the food was average. Service was not great. My husband got the soft shell crab sandwich. This came with fries, and was not bad, but the crab tasted strange, and unlike other soft shell crab that I've had previously. The tuna poke bowl is not something I would recommend ordering. The soba noodles were hard, and they didn't taste like they were made from buckwheat. The shiitake mushrooms it was served with were raw, and added nothing whatsoever to this dish. We were looking for a place to eat lunch, that wasn't outdoors, because it was raining. So this place had a stand up at the window! Because of the high yelp reviews, we figured we'd stand! There were two very nice young ladies behind the counter. You can see into the kitchen a little. Not much inside the restaurant. Just some soda/water coolers and some nice decor. The food was presented well, but that isn't saying much because I ordered fish n chips. The fries were mediocre at best, but in my opinion, the fries shouldn't be a big factor. The fish itself wasn't crispy despite the look, and the texture of it didn't remind me much of fish. The fish tasted well though, and I wasn't too disappointed. There were only seats outside, which isn't too much of a problem, but good weather wasn't there the day I ate there. Not the fault of the place, so it doesn't count to the rating. Came here on a rainy day while staying in Montauk. The only bad feature is that the only indoor dining space they have is a stand up counter near the front window. All other spaces and tables are located outside and it was raining too heard to be out there. We decided to stay and eat at the counter. The crew ordered: -Corn & crab chowder served of course with New England oyster crackers. (Thick and creamy) -Kids portion mac and cheese -Kale caeser salad (fresh and large-splittable) -sweet potato fries. (Perfectly fried. Delish) -Mahi Mahi tacos. Everything I personally tasted was fresh and yummy. Kids were happy also. The main draw is obviously the seafood and fresh caught fish, but the menu is a tad blended...there's everything from lobster rolls to poke' bowls, and even burgers. Kids menu, items to keep it lighter and healthy, and nosh for veg-heads too. There's locally caught clams, steamers and oysters too. Fish and chips, whole lobsters sold at market price, and a variety of chowders sold in cup or quart, which may be a nice to-go option to reheat for later on a cool night. For vegans, there's a few salads, including a house with quinoa (minus the cojita), corn on the cob, a veggie burger and those delicious sweet potato fries, which should be ordered at least for the table to share. Yum! Service was friendly and it's a casual pay at the counter, bring your buoy number to your table kind of joint. I'm so happy that this place has stayed open during this pandemic. The service was quick and the food as very fresh. We decided to get an order or the calamari and then 2 orders of the crab cakes. The calamari was amazing. The batter was different than I am used to , seemed to have some pepper on it. But it was great. The sweet and sour sauce which accompanied was great for dipping. The crab cakes were fresh and full of crab. Such a great meal. All in all great service and great food from this gem in montauk. I'm happy they remained open for us to give them a try. read more
