Beer on tap: +10 points. Milkshakes too. Only let down was the fries. Thankfully the burger really outshines any disappointment, but the fries really should be good at a burger joint. Went there this Wednesday and was very disappointed. Service is always great there so that is never a problem. Ordered the caprese chicken sandwich which last time was one of the best sandwiches we have ever had. This time the chicken breast was about 1/8" thin. Seemed like we were eating all bread. I'm hooked! Normally when my significant other and I head down to Oxnard/Ventura for dinner, we tend to go to the same places because it'd be a shame to drive 40 minutes down for something less than amazing. Last night though, we took a chance on Hook Burger thinking it'd be good based on the reviews, but we were wrong - it was incredible! We got the hickory burger and mushroom burger, along with the "trio" (onion rings, French fries, and sweet potato fries). While the burgers didn't look huge, they were surprisingly filling. They came with a slice of tomato, fresh lettuce, and a thick, juicy patty, all sandwiched between toasted brioche buns with two slices of pickles on the side. Easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. Although the French fries were good, they definitely didn't stand out like the sweet potato fries and onion rings did. Note: the trio was huge so make sure you split that with someone! The price was a bit high at ~$6.95 for a burger and another 75 cents for cheese, but it was so worth it for the high quality ingredients. Service was also super friendly, as the employees were happy to answer our questions. Hook Burger has easily made it on our list of go-to places when we're in the area. read more

Every single meal I've had here, or from here, has always been fresh, tasty and decently priced enough. Service is honestly great and they seem to have a really great selection of beer and wine- though I never partake. Today: I downloaded their app and got almost $3 in credit, placed my order and picked up my salad without a single issue. I will warn for anyone else wondering- their Chicken Caesar salad has a really strong citrus taste to it. But it works! I won't be ordering it again- but the chicken was perfectly grilled, lettuce was perfectly washed, dried and chopped, croutons aren't rock-hard and there was plenty of cheese. I would recommend Hook change the salad's name to a Citrus Chicken Caesar just to avoid future concern. read more

I am thankful for this Yelp find because my whole experience was very pleasant from beginning to end. I walked in and took in the modern and rustic decor. It gave me a very inviting feel and I enjoyed taking a look around at the restaurant. You can tell that they really care about customer service here. They check up on you and even offer to get you refills. I sat up by the register and saw a lot of the interactions of the employee with customers and she was so eager to help. The food was very good. I had the Maui burger with onion rings and my husband had the hickory burger with fries. My burger was tasty and well-made, the onion rings were crisp and crunchy. They also have a nice selection of beer, which my husband appreciated. This will be one of my go-it's whenever I'm in the area. The atmosphere here is pretty chill and comfortable. There are some TVs on the wall but it's not loud or overwhelming. The wait staff is very attentive and came by to ask us if we were ok many times. I tried their veggie burger which is a black bean patty with sprouts, onion, avocado, tomatoes, cucumbers and cheese. Overall it was pretty good. Had good flavor, but my major complaint was that all the veggies were sliced very thick. I'm not one to shy away from onions... but there was a solid slice of onion almost 1/2 thick... the cucumbers and tomatoes were really chunky as well. This is my go-to burger spot in the area. The meat is always juicy and flavorful, and the ingredients are fresh. I do wish their burgers were a tad bigger because I usually finish wanting a little more. There's no option to make it a combo, you have to buy the drink and side separately. Their sides are averagely good, nothing to rave about. The service is friendly and attentive. They come to your table to refill your drinks or if you need any condiments. The inside gives a cool vibe and the bathroom is really nice, just thought I'd mention that.
