I was in the area and needed the caffeine. This place was down the street from my lash appointment so I decided to stop by and check it out. I know there's a second location in SA so I was excited to finally try them. The woman who took my order was nice and helped me decide on their cookie butter latte. She mentioned this was one of their most popular options. She also customized the sweetness to my liking which was perfect! I don't like overly sweet coffee. I really really liked my drink! Found this hidden gem and I'm glad I ordered mazaan latte! I really really love the nutty flavor of mazapan! Also, the coffee is strong because it kept me focused on my work after. Parking is a little tricky because the space is very limited. There are no decorations or whatsoever, but I think they are just newly opened. There are some seats outside for you to hang around. The drink came out pretty fast and the staff is friendly. read more

Friendly customer service, good parking available, and fair prices for the coffee. Food prices are a little high but the portions are huge and the menu packs a lot of flavor. Busy on the weekends so expect a wait for food but well worth it. There is limited seating so expect more of a grab and go but definitely a must try. A down to earth style coffee shop. No frills just good food coffee and people. Coffees are strong and bold but a little on the sweater side. We tried the Spanish latte and espresso nube. Both had great flavor but the espresso nube is great choice for people who don't like their drinks too sweet. A lot of people ordered the horchata viet so that is next on the list, but you can customize the ratios of the drink and the sweetness levels! read more

We stopped by because this place caught my girlfriend's attention after seeing it a while back on TikTok and we saw it had good ratings on yelp. The drinks were absolutely delicious. I ordered the cookie butter latte and she ordered the horchata matcha. Both were extremely flavorful and well balanced; I didn't feel like I was drinking watered down milk and sugar hahaha. The guy who attended us as well as the guy who gave us our drinks were both friendly. I work in the area and I would definitely come back. read more

Came in on a Wednesday morning around 8AM and there were no other customers. There also weren't much seating inside but they had some outside of their coffee place, although they might be in the works for renovating? I ordered the Caramel Macchiato with a Cloud Foam but I will say make sure you specify the size. They kind of assumed for mine and it was definitely a big drink for me. Visited around 6:15 AM. Customer service was great--10/10. This isn't really a dine-in spot, more of a hole-in-the-wall for good coffee and quick bites like burritos and pastries. I ordered the Vietnamese horchata iced coffee and a steak burrito. The order came out fast. The first couple of sips of the coffee were amazing, but the more I drank it, the stronger a tequila-like/alcohol taste became, to the point where it was unbearable. I've had Vietnamese coffee before, but this was my first time experiencing something like that, and I ended up dumping it. Total was about $25 ($8 for the coffee, $15 for the burrito). A bit pricey, but the burrito was loaded and filling. My only issue was the potatoes, they were cut way too large. It was decent, but I probably wouldn't order it again. Overall, the place is decent, but I was really disappointed by the strange coffee taste. read more

Hood Coffee is reasonably priced coffee shop located near the Orange circle. They offer lattes and horchata / Vietnamese coffee drinks as well as some baked good. Although when I arrived at around 1pm on a weekday the offerings looked limited and not that appealing. However the place was packed and there was a consistent stream of people coming and going. Cookie butter latte ($8.00 + $.50 processing fee - 24 oz.) - Made with real biscoff this latte had a robust coffee flavor and chunks of biscoff. I should have asked for light ice because there was too much ice for my liking. However I did enjoy the drink and it was made in a timely manner. Overall I was impressed with the drink offerings here. If I came back I would like to try the horchata Vietnamese coffee as I heard good things about that one. Seating is limited to 2 tables outside and a few seats inside. read more

Got the Horchata Vietnamese coffee and it was a delectable blend of sweet and strong. I did find the decor a bit in need of some care as it looked like random house furniture brought in. They only have iced lattes , I got a Spanish latte iced and a cookie with a piece of banana bread the latte was flavorful it needed alittle bit more espresso to give it that coffee flavor. The cookie was amazing it tasted like a cookie brownie because of the cookie that will bring me back alone . The banana bread was alittle greasy. read more

Never been to this place before. When I got there, there were a couple of people waiting on their order, so I was the only customer ordering. I tried to order a hot latte ... which, apparently, isn't something that they do. The lady said they could make a hot latte for certain coffees on their menu so I ordered one. And I waited. And waited. And waited. While I waited, 12 other customers came in, ordered coffee or picked up something they'd ordered online, and all got served. My coffee still hadn't arrived. So I waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, after 20 minutes - 20 MINUTES!!! - I had to leave. Yelp always asks "what was that dish?" and asks to attach photos of the food. I can't do that. I NEVER GOT MY ORDER. I paid $8.50 + $1.00 tip to sit in a building for 20 minutes. DO. NOT. RECOMMEND. read more

Came across hood coffee on Yelp and absolutely loved it! I ordered the mazipan latte after the lady at the register said it was her favorite drink. It was slightly on the sweeter side so I asked them to add a little bit more oat milk. The guy was very nice and asked if it was too strong or sweet which shows me they are willing to listen to feedback and improve. The coffee was strong, but it was just what I needed!! The coffee was good, the breakfast burritos were better. If I'm honest, I would stop here everytime for burritos only. And the salsa, you have to order the salsa on the side, or two. The inside can definitely use some work, but they're on their way. read more

Love this business! I have been getting their coffee before they had an official location and it has always been good! Strong, tasty and consistent. I consistently get the rose latte and it's my favorite. It does have a STRONG rose taste which can be a good or bad thing for some. I recommend the chorizo bolillo for a quick filling snack, it does have a small spicy kick. The location is small and cozy. Has a panaderia feel to it. Listen... if caffeine had a barrio boo, it would live right here. First of all--parking? A full-blown telenovela. You'll circle the block like 6 times, question your life choices, maybe cuss in two languages. Parallel parking game better be Olympic-level or don't bother. Make THAT make sense. Opted for the Cookie Butter Latte. Not as good but probably because I was looking forward to my first choice. Still tasty. My friend had the Mexican Mocha? Spicy, chocolatey, and a little dramatic--just like your ex (but way more reliable). The people watching was interesting and added another level to the drop in. The girl side eyeing us because she thought we were looking at her man was the bonus. I did say telenovela. Girl, no one wants your man but you go with the extra PDA if it makes you feel better. I give it 4 stars only for their Vietnamese iced coffee. That is nice and strong , but their matcha... skip that. It tastes like they use a premade syrup mix instead of a powdered matcha and it was not good. I came in on a slow afternoon and still waited a while for my drinks. Probably won't come back but I'll give it 4 stars for the coffee. read more

Dragging today, so I stopped by to get a boost. The guy at the register couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. You can tell he really cares about making his customers happy. I typically prefer less sweet, but was intrigued by the horchata Vietnamese coffee. They have really bold flavorful coffee, the way l like it, it was on the sweeter side, but I'm definitely not sorry I chose it. Really delicious. Very kind staff. I personally don't see myself returning. The mazapán latte tasted borderline burnt. I didn't get any mazapán flavor. There are also chunks at the bottom, which I know some may or may not like. The horchata matcha was a miss as well. When I think of horchata I think of a creamy rice drink with a hint of cinnamon. This tasted like matcha, water and cinnamon. Not for me. I've heard great things about this place but I don't get the hype read more

The rates a 3 because of location, inside area, and food. I'll start off by saying this location definitely needs more signage. They have a white screen door as their entrance that isn't very pleasing to look at. Then when you walk in, it looks a little abandoned. There's no art, or plants, or any decor at all so it makes you feel like you're not walking into the right place. After I had been waiting a few minutes someone came up and helped me, she was very nice! Ordered my food and drink to go and waited. Once I got home, I opened the bag and my chilaquiles were in a standup to go box. I was disappointed because the extra beans I ordered were all on the bottom then my chilaquiles on top as well as my scrambled egg and avocado. Mind you I paid extra for the avocado and beans. If they just invested a little more in the location and overall vibe of the space, I think they would be a lot more successful. The aesthetics just aren't there and management could definitely do better! It's all about the experience and just wasn't a positive one for me. read more

This has been on my list to try whenever I got the chance to come to LA. Unfortunately the location on here was closed due to renovations but the manager or owner was there and redirected us to their other location which was close by. I ordered their muertos coffee and was sad to see that it did not look like the pictures that I seen on their menu online. It was missing the black cream top. But overall, the coffee is amazing. Awesome coffee! I've been here a few times and the coffee is always consistently good. The parking situation can be tough on the weekends, so be aware that you might need to park nearby and walk. This spot is on the corner of a neighborhood, so please be considerate of the people who live in the area. That aside, I've had pleasant interactions with the folks who run the place. They do have online ordering, though that doesn't ensure that your order will be ready when you arrive like Starbucks. I assume they're still working out the kinks on that. I ran into this issue when I placed an order on a Saturday morning and had to wait about 10-15 minutes after my order was supposed to be ready per the app, but they also had a line basically out the door so I wasn't mad. In fact, I was glad that a small business was so busy! The seating situation is less than ideal. The interior of the shop is dimly lit and a little sketchy, but it's my understanding that they're still figuring out what to do with this spot (they have another spot in Santa Ana that's really nice). There are a few stools inside and a couple of benches outside. I'm sure this will change and I'll update my review once it does. read more

Stopped here a few times before work and I love it. I enjoy small coffee shops in my area and it is always my goal to try them all out. So when I drove by one time, I knew I had to make a stop. First off the inside of the coffee shop is plain. It is not like one of those bougie coffee shops. The guy who has helped me numerous is welcoming every time. The coffee shop also sells pan dulce, tamales, and breakfast items. I have tried their conchas and tamales. The pan dulce is really soft and fresh. The tamales are delicious but unfortunately the last time I got one, it was really spicy but delicious. Plus, the tamale is perfect, not too much masa and the right amount of meat. As for the coffee, I have tried the horchata latte and the chai latte. Both have lots of flavor and the espresso has a great taste. Definitely woke me up on those days I didn't get enough sleep. Overall, great location and quick service. There is a small parking lot and street parking if you are heading into work. You will not be disappointed. read more

Unfortunately, I wasn't greeted when I walked in, which immediately set the tone. When it came time to order, I felt somewhat rushed and pressured instead of being given the chance to browse the menu or ask any questions. Another thing I noticed was a processing fee of 50 cents, which I wasn't made aware of beforehand. It's not a huge amount, but I feel like small details like that should be communicated upfront so customers don't feel surprised at checkout. The wait for my order was around 15 minutes, which felt a bit long considering how empty the place was. On the bright side, the coffee itself was enjoyable, but the overall service felt a little dry and lacked the friendliness that makes a coffee shop experience memorable. When my coworkers wanted coffee we'd do whatever we could to get Hood Coffee. During Halloween we all LOVED the viet charcoal cold cap, I tried a lavender viet latte & Americano with some milk it was great! They were really friendly at this location even right when they opened & me being so confused. The place is cute lots of stuff to prepare your coffee on the side to get out & go. Lots of space to sit, love the ambiance feel like you were in an old train station. Service was great, I had questions about some of the coffees and they took their time explaining it to me. For food they only had pastries but for coffee and matcha lots of interesting options. They have beans from various parts of the World, but mainly Norway!!! We got really excited about this. We ordered a Volcano Latte and a regular latte. The Volcano latte had an explosion of flavors topped with a smoked salted foam out of this world. My new favorite. One thing to keep in mind is that parking isn't free, and depending on the time of day, it can be a little challenging to find parking if you're just stopping by for coffee. I tried two different lattes and unfortunately wasn't a fan of either. Yuli, the barista, truly did her best to make it right and was so sweet, which I wholeheartedly appreciated. Her service alone made me want to give this spot a higher rating. That said, the lattes were a 2/5 for me. They tasted too milky, and the coffee had an aftertaste I personally wasn't fond of.

The pastries are on the sweeter side, so keep that in mind if you order the almond croissant or cinnamon roll, but the flavor is there. The blueberry muffin was probably my favorite as it was so moist and paired well with my coffee. This Orange establishment is nice and offers games (like most Philz') so you and your friends/family can play, while enjoying a coffee or pastry. The company even offers used coffee ground to take home for your garden - a full recycle moment! The staff is always pleasant and friendly, and each barista usually has a name tag in front of their station. Every time I come in, there are 5 to 6 employees behind the counter, but more than half of them are just standing around talking and laughing. It creates a distracting environment for the few people who are actually trying to work, and it shows in how slow and disorganized everything feels. What really pushed me to write this review is how often the app is completely inaccurate. I'll get a notification saying my drink is ready, only to show up and find that it hasn't even been started yet. Meanwhile, the person who is supposed to be making drinks is busy chatting with coworkers instead of focusing on orders. This isn't a one-time thing either. It's become a pattern, and nothing seems to improve. Long waits, lack of urgency, and poor communication make the whole experience frustrating, especially when you're paying premium prices for coffee. I used to enjoy coming here, but the repeated lack of professionalism and attention to customers has really turned me off. Hopefully management steps in and addresses this, because right now it feels like customers are not a priority at all.

It would have been WAY better with much less rice, add potatoes and dare I say, a few tomatoes? Honestly, their uniqueness in this community saved them, because this place based on this experience was average/3 stars.
