Worst military VPC in the country (I'd be willing to bet the World). This place is so bad that it is a factor in weather I ever apply for orders and PCS back to Hawaii with a vehicle or not. Their instructions are unclear and after you navigate multiple websites (that nobody directs you to) and instructions pages they are different on each one. They are inflexible in hours and when they send you for documentation in excess of their published requirements you end up in the back of the line because customer service is non existent. If you PCS to/from hawaii your will be better off selling before you depart and buying when you arrive on island. Its not often I wish yelp could give 0 stars but this is one of those cases. Any difficulties I had during this trip were self inflicted. I had over 1/4 tank of gas when I showed up, and I did' have an appointment. The facilities were clean, folks were well trained, and I did ultimately get my car off the island on one visit. Things you must have: POV worksheet signed by JHPSO Registration Title Printed confirmation there are no recalls on your vehicle or mechanic invoice stating car is safe to travel if you couldn't clear recall in time. read more

Very fast and awesome experience with this VPC. It might be the local bias because I'm just getting stationed back home but the staff are determined to process your vehicle whether you're dropping it off or picking it up. Better than the mainland VPC I've been at. Mahalo! read more

Customer service was extremely pleasant . I came at 1120 about 25 minutes before the inspectors were scheduled for their lunch break, and they were still swift and efficient. FOUR minutes late for a 7 am appointment and made to wait as a walk in customer. So far I have waited almost 3 hours and no end in sight.

I wish I could give 0 stars. After they completely damaged my vehicle about 6 months ago I am yet to be reimbursed for the damages and now they don't want to pay for the full cost of damages offering me 1200 dollars less than the cost. The rental car that should have been completely covered isn't because enterprise didn't have vehicles and had to switch me into a different one but kept the price the same. Now they aren't responding to my emails or won't even pick up the phone. This is by far the worst vehicle shipping company to use because even if they damage your vehicle and state that they damaged it they still aren't willing to pay. Have had countless emails and phone calls to still get no where. Steve Spencer and IAL HQ is no help and will ignore you until you tell him your lawyer is going to call him. Now I'm out a bunch of money because I had to trade in my vehicle due to the damage and my vehicle no longer being able to make it from point A to point B. read more

Customer service is great! I don't know why there are bad reviews for VPC Honolulu. The clerk answered my questions and even helped me measure my vehicle for a quote. This gave me a piece of mind and I recommend you come in person. How can you get the answers to the questions you are asking if they can't see what you are shipping? Let me start by saying, this is not the first time I have shipped a vehicle via the VPC. But, I can say, this was the worst experience I have ever encountered when shipping a vehicle. I would have given The VPC (Pasha) a one star review if it had not been for the actions of Faylin and Brad, who helped me get my vehicle processed after a couple of hours dealing with rude inconsiderate people. One of the Customer Service representative (Brandy)basically called my wife and I liars as we were trying to explain how and why my orders were written. She and and another representative were rude not only to me but to others trying to drop their cars off. In addition to the poor customer service, I had to pick up several ping pong balls that were hit toward me by two employees playing ping pong in the vehicle inspection office. The whole operation was very unprofessional. Matson did a much better job and provided excellent customer service. It was a very bad experience. read more

I had to take my car here. I'm shipping it to Georgia for my son to use. Very nice staff and very helpful unlike the people at the TMO office , they were somewhat helpful. VPC walked you through the process. But do yourself a favor and go to their website and download forms , call for information and go online and make an appointment. Make the process easy for the clerk and yourself and you'll spend less time there. read more

OK, I'm an older service member getting ready to retire. Keep that in mind... I've been moved by orders every single one of them. This will be my 2nd time transferring out of island (different contractor). This will make my first review on anything... As I responsible one, I scheduled my appt on 29SEP20 to ship on 04DEC20 on PCSmyPOV. Scheduled and downloaded everything from the website. No alerts from site that you have to go to Honolulu VPC (special) and some how produce a document not listed in PCSmyPOV. My appt was at 0800 and with all the migraine at 1320, I finally ship my vehicle. The personnel are used to the problem as well as transportation office. But, suck it up butter cup... They send you a junk email and justified... They are so use to it that answers are mechanic and straight face... Is on you! Not a Good service overall. DOD FIX THIS. read more

I have been dreading today for the past couple weeks as, normally, the car shipping process is about as painful as humanly possible. However, I still feel like I'm forgetting something because today was so incredibly smooth. I made an appointment to ship my car for 9:45. Y'all, I got there at 9:40 and I LEFT AT 10:26. How?! They checked me right in, pre-inspection, inspection check in, inspection, done! They even helped me carry all my luggage from my car to the sitting area and then AGAIN from the sitting area to my cab. If I could have dreamed of a perfect vehicle processing trip, today would have been it. Thank y'all SO much. You really made my day so much smoother. read more

So I was stressed out about shipping my car. I had heard so many horror stories and spent two hrs the previous day scrubbing the inside & outside of the car. Well I got there, the initial check in was a little rude. They kinda just snatched papers out of my hand and it was really robotic and weren't very nice when I asked questions(that's why it's only 4 stars) However when it came to stage 2, I still had a little sand and dog hair in my trunk and they even helped to get it out. They were very nice and walked me through the process. Stage three the initial check in was nice and then the looking through the car was good as well. I was very relieved, and I walked in! I was there maybe an hour and a half and I got in and out. They made the process so easy and really eased my mind. read more

I was not expecting good things. I had a recall on my vehicle and made the mistake of scheduling that first and then trying to get an appointment at the VPC. By the time that the repair was made, the VPC had no appointments until well after we would leave the island. Thus I was going to have to walk-in.... I called the VPC to assure that I knew the process. The woman I spoke to told me to arrive early and then I likely would get in. She told me, I could have sworn, that they only process about 10 walk-ins / day. I anally cleaned my car and then arrived at 0600. There were already 5 people in front of me but some of them were there to pick up (they need appointments for this and none were available ?????). We waited in the rain until 0645. The guard was nice enough to move us under a cover- there were around 20-25 people by this point. We then moved up to the main area between the two trailers. There is a latrine there, if you are curious what you are going to have to do if you have to use the bathroom. They lined up the appointments first and then started on the walk ins. We had maintained some semblance of a line based on when we arrived so we went in and signed in. Then we had a seat. If it rains like it did on us, I would recommend bringing a sweater or something warm because being wet and then going into the AC was cold. I waited about 20 minutes and then called me up. I gave them my paperwork. I would recommend going to the IAL website and downloading and filling out the paperwork and having it ready. They will give it to you there if you don't however. They asked for the original of the title (I gave them a copy at first) and the instructions didn't say specifically to bring that, that I recall. Then you go out & bring your car up for pre-inspection. Here is where they lost their 5th star. They made me take the cover off my steering wheel. I have no earthly idea why that needed to come off. It had to be torn off as it had been on there since I bought my car. It was a mess. However they didn't seem to care and then had me empty the glove box into the back of the car. Nothing but the manual is what I was told. I went back in and waited another 20 minutes and then they called me back and had me go over to the other side. There they give you the zip tie for your keys and a couple of more forms to fill out. I waited about 10-20 minutes and then was called outside for the final inspection. They didn't have any comments on the cleanliness of my car but it was very clean based on the horror stories I had heard before. I also brought 2 towels with me since I had heard that the car has to be dry (despite the fact that it had rained all morning). The car was wet but it didn't seem to matter. I was done with this part in 10-15 minutes. He took pictures. I was calling my wife to pick me up at 0830. I cannot complain about this at all. It was a pretty smooth operation. read more

I've heard many horror story's about the VPC so I was a little nervous about the process buuut we actually had a pretty good one. Made an appt online approximately 3 weeks before hand and there was only one spot open for the week that I wanted and nothing else for a couple weeks so I'm assuming we just got lucky with a cancelation. Three days prior to turning in our car we washed it, did a quick mothers wax, and vacuumed it. We are beach people so there was a TON of sand and even the day of I stopped to get it vacuumed and there was some still imbedded in the carpet but the car was clean. Turn in time was pretty simple they check you in, check your paper work you get your car take car in to "pre inspection" and then wait for the inspector. Waiting for the inspector was the longest part about 30 ish mins. When it was finally our turn for the inspection it lasted about 15 mins and she wrote down and noted every little bit of nick and ding on the car. Soo in total we got there at 1310 our appt time was at 1330 and we left at 1400. So not bad. Others have said there are a ton of workers there but not all are "working" and that is very true-minus one star. If they were I think we could have been out of there in 20-30 mins. Just a quick reminder don't forget to clean your door jambs, fuel intake, engine bay, and trunk jamb I saw people at the pre inspection area trying to pick the leaves out of the engine area. When talking to the inspector they said that the car does not have to be professionally detailed just clean. So keep that in mind. Also bring a towel to wipe down your car prior to inspection. read more

The worst experience i have had shipping a car. Had everything i needed made an appointment and was turned away for a very very small amount of sand in a seat track. I went cleaned it out and was logged as a walk in. So now i sit for over 3 hours now waiting to be seen. I asked how long can i expect to sit and wait and i get nothing but attitude. Staff moves with no sense of purpose and are very rude. If this wasnt the place that i had to go to in order to get my car shipped back to the mainland i would go else where. So to you others that need to ship u might want to pay for a professional detailing because this is ridiculous. read more

Please make sure to have an appointment, if not you almost don't matter on the inspection side. I got here at 8am, and was turned away at the preinspection because I forgot to get the leaves from underneath my hood, but mind you I sat and watched them help the guy before me clean his whole truck out and the guy before him wipe his exterior down. I was then told I had to go get my car completely washed just to remove leaves from under the hood and that I had to provide a receipt as proof. I spent 4 hrs the day prior fully detailing my car. I got back at 10:40 and was passed to the next station. We were told if you are in here you will be processed but not before lunch but to be back by 1. I was back at 1245 and sat and sat. At 3:45 they call 10 of us to another room and tell us we won't be processed and have to come back. I expressed how important it was that I ship today because I fly out tomorrow. They didn't care and pretty much told me I have to figure it out and sent me packing after my entire day was spent there. There is absolutely no point of them even having a walk-in process. Just make an appointment and save yourself the hassle. read more

5 Stars but, please read as my level of tolerance for certain concerns will differ from others. I spent approximately 4 hours here. If I would've had all my paperwork in line I would've been out the door in under an hour. Customer service was awesome. Everyone I dealt with was understanding and very courteous. Just a couple words of advice...First, make an appointment and check the required paperwork for your given situation more than twice. The employees here don't want to waste your time any more than you to there's. Second, respect the process and that they are following the rules and guidelines required by law. Don't be rude to the employees because you didn't have your required items in line. I saw more than one person act in an extremely rude manner which I'm sure can only make matters worse. Third, get a thorough car wash and vacuuming at a nearby car wash. If you have the slightest bit of dog hair, sand, or dirt in your interior they will turn you away. Also make sure you remove standing water spots as they will turn you away for that too. I know some of these things sound ridiculous but, it's for a reason. Although this was an extremely painful process, my issues were solely inflicted by my own doing. Lastly, if you get turned away and have to come back, you will have to go to the back of the line and wait as if you didn't have an appointment.
