Garlic chicken is good with a little heat on the back end. And chicken katsu had lots of flavor, wish it had come with some gravy though. Mac salad was delicious. Service is really good. Anyway, was excited to see a 4 stars rating, but once again, I was let down by Yelp. We had 2 Teri beef plate, chicken katsu, and Teri chicken plate. Quantity was smaller than expected. The Teri beef needs to be thinly sliced so that it would soak up the flavors as it's being marinated. This was not as the cut was thicker which also made it chewier. It was heavy on sauce, but the actual beef lacks flavor as you can tell they really don't marinate them. Katsu was typical, but chicken was a bit dry. Mac salad, which is usually my favorite. This is definitely a St. George staple, especially being right next to Dixie State University; the heart of the college scene here. It was busy when we decided to try it out. My man's aunt and uncle suggested it as they always go whenever they are in town. It did not disappoint. We got single plates and had plenty of food, but they also offer mini plates that have less meat and only one scoop of rice (good for kids or smaller appetites). My daughter had a mini plate of the katsu chicken that came with some dipping sauce. The sweet sauce they offer for the rice was really yummy. Everything looked and tasted authentic. Love a Hawaiian macaroni salad. (So creamy.) The cucumber salad was lightly sweet and tangy. Pictures are of the teriyaki beef, and kalua pork. We also got the mahi-mahi fish fried with sautéed onions and tomatoes. My husband said it was the best fish he's ever had. (Sorry no picture, we were hungry and ready to eat.) He said there was so much flavor in the fish itself, not just the batter, and the dipping sauce it came with was tasty, but you didn't need it for the fish to taste good. (2/5), Curry also meh.. (2/5), Macaroni salat was over seasoned with curry powder or something, not very good, (1/5), the salad was generic (2/5), Spam Musubis were unseasoned (1/5). Service: was fine and decent. They were VERY busy! Atmosphere: was okay. Dated used furniture, the layout was kinda cramped, their design and décor was pretty uninspiring. The serving area was a little bit grimy. Considering the theme of Hawaii and Honolulu they could have done A LOT more to add to the experience. It was dated but not terribly dirty. Portions for the pork was a lot, teriyaki chicken portion was okay, but the Kalbi (which was an extra $2.50 I think) was just one slice cut into 2 pieces so that was disappointing. I was told the sauce on the rice was a teriyaki sauce but it felt more like a sweat gravy instead.
