    Shoyu Ramen
    Sarah And Darryl ..

We had a good feeling about this place as soon as we walked in as we were greeted by a very friendly Japanese server who was quick to greet and seat us. Clean restaurant with several available tables, but definitely had more of a food court feel than cozy restaurant ambiance. That said, it's located within the bowling alley but you'd never know it during dining. We ordered the veggie ramen with an added egg, and the Shoyu ramen (without seaweed or onions). Food came out very quickly. Veggie ramen was quite delicious but not over the top flavourful, nothing a little chili paste couldn't fix. Shoyu ramen had a very woody broth. Noodles were cooked well had significantly less noodles than the veggie ramen. Pork was a tad bland. Overall very good! Cost was very affordable, $36 including tip for two made this a great dine out experience! Will definitely come back.

A little ramen shop, with big flavours. I had the Tanta-men. The broth was rich and full of flavour. The minced pork topping had a nice kick. Together the two make a great flavourful experience. The only complaint that I would have is the noodles. They were not bad, but there was definitely something lacking for me. It wasn't as "springy" as I would have liked.

After visiting my client at coquitlam saw a ramen restaurant on my way home and I couldn't resist my temptation trying this place out. Let's dig in! Service 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 - love the open kitchen concept Shio ramen: I have to say the presentation definitely needed some work. Noodle firmness-5/5- cook to perfection Soup - 4/5 clear soup base but amazingly not too heavy yet pack with flavor. When you try the soup it will have a light sweet after taste finish. Soup still feel a bit salty I would say 1-2pinch less salt. Overall I really enjoy it on a cold weather like today. It felt really hearty Soft boil egg - 3/5 - it doesn't have the watery yolk I was looking for. The egg didn't absorb the flavor of the soup. I felt it was like a separate entity from the ramen. Bamboo shoot / green onion -5/5 bamboo shoot packed with flavor and green onion refreshes your taste buds. Green onion also played a big part in the soup, it absorbs the fatty oil and made the soup taste very appetizing Over all it was good! I would easily give 3.5/5 stars and I over heard a customer said the curry and fried Tonkatsu was amazing. Will try it out next time!

Nice ramen broth and noodles. I had the Tantan-Men ramen - interesting ingredients. Good flavour and spicy. I'd repeat and recommend.

So great to see a newly opened ramen restaurant in the Coquitlam area right by the Cineplex theaters! Came here on a Tuesday and the place was pretty busy for a weekday. Everyone got a table right away as the turnaround of each table is very quick. We ordered the shoyu ramen and miso ramen and a plate of gyoza. Overall, all the food was really good! The broth was nice and rich and the noodles were done nicely with a little chew. The miso ramen had a bit extra veggies like corn and bean sprout and the broth almost tasted nutty to me, which I liked and would definitely order again! Nice place to swing by before or after a movie or bowling!

It is nice that another ramen shop opened in Coquitlam. I have been trying ramen places around the Lower Mainland recently and finally made it here after showing up during their vacation time. Service was fast and efficient. We were seated right away. Menus and water was offered. My date picked miso ramen and I picked shio ramen. We also ordered gyoza to share. Food arrived fairly quickly. The broth was alright. It was missing the depth I found in the previous few ramen shops I have dined at. The noodles had a good chew. The chashu was very thinly sliced, but was tender and flavourful. The soft boiled marinated egg was perfectly cooked. The pork gyoza was good as expected. No complaints there. For starters, great price point. It is rare to find a ramen shop where you can enjoy a meal for under $10. As another reviewer pointed out, it is not the best nor it is the worse. This place does a decent bowl of ramen with half an egg and two slices of chashu for $10! It is worth a visit if you are in the area.

Checked this place out for dinner as there are very few ramen places near my house. Right off the bat, you can tell this place was clean, well run and organized. They have their ramen making machine visible at the front as all the noodles are made in-house. The staff were attentive and friendly. The broth had good depth and flavour. The chat sui (pork belly) was melt in your mouth. The egg was a little over done, but not a big deal and the noodles were cooked perfectly and had that nice chewiness to it that you find in good ramen noodles. You can tell the thought that has gone through how they execute when each type of ramen is assigned a certain coloured bowl. Price point is very competitive and provided good value. Will go back to this place again.

Shoyu Ramen $9.95 Review: Well, my parents and I ended up eating here since it was on the way to where we were going. For first impressions, the restaurant was very clean and the waiter was also very polite! This ramen shop has an average range of options, regular & light shoyu, shio, miso, tantan men and vegan/vegetarian options! I decided to order shoyu only because it was the first ramen on the menu and I sort of assumed that it would be what they are best af making?! Maybe my assumption was wrong? The location of the restaurant isn't very "convenient" so I am assuming the broth was brewed for too long since it was very RICH. The broth was very heavy and too rich for me. Usually shoyu ramen is light but this shoyu broth was so filling and salty. However, the bite and texture of the noodles were perfect. I really liked how they handmade their noodles!!! Some ramen restaurants buy their noodles and I feel like it doesn't sincerely show their effort and dedication? Maybe it's just me and I'm dumb The toppings were not very plentiful and quite underwhelming (not anything special) just two slices of chasu, a marinated egg, bamboo sprouts, green onion and a sheet of nori. ‼OH ALSO I ALMOST FORGOT‼ When I go to a ramen place, I always drink some of the broth to taste the depth and flavour, however this broth was SO OILY THAT I IMMEDIATELY GOT A HUGE PIMPLE ON MY FOREHEAD AFTER EATING IT. I've been trying so hard to keep my skin clear and look somewhat decent/ presentable it makes me sad The price is this ramen isn't bad at all, everytime I find a meal that costs less than $10 it SHOCKS me and makes me EXCITED. I MIGHT come here again since I am extremely poor but if you want that quality broth don't come here expecting that. The noodles are really good though! Rating: 7/10

We were greeted and seated as soon as we entered the restaurant. The decor is very beautiful and I love the authentic Japanese restaurant feel. We ordered the gyoza, shoyu ramen, miso ramen, and taiyaki with matcha ice cream. Their slices of BBQ Pork is done so perfectly it just melts in your mouth. The soup base seems to lack luster, but is still really good. Quick breakdown: Noodles - 5/5 Soup Base - 4/5 BBQ Pork - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Value - 5/5 While I wouldn't say they have the best ramen in town, the friendliness of the staff and the value of their food definitely makes up for it. Definitely am coming back to try other things on their menu!

I was really hoping Honjin would have good ramen because there really is no good place for ramen in Coquitlam area yet. I ordered the shio ramen with chicken broth and it's unfortunate that their ramen tasted like below average chicken soup with noodles. You only get half ajitama which was not really properly marinated. The pork cha shu was so fatty and did not taste properly marinated as well. There's many side orders to choose from and the place seems pretty busy when went but I will not return again. Sad to say Honjin Ramen just does not taste like authentic Japanese ramen to me.

By far my most favorite place to get ramen. I love the food, price, servers, location; everything. I try to come her as often as I can, because their Miso Ramen bowl is the best ramen bowl I have ever tried. I have gone to countless ramen joints and tasted many different combinations, and I can say confidently that Honjin's takes the cake by far. I recommend it to all my friends, family, and to anyone who is looking for a good place to eat ramen!

Honestly we didn't know what to except when we first rolled up. But its good to know that they have their own (though limited) parking area in front of the restaurant. The restaurant did have a bar kind of vibe, but I think its mostly due to covid. Lots of local and small restaurants had to adjust. Making more space for take out order and leaving more space for customers to spread out. Once seated the menu was super straight forward. Ramen Ranging from $15-$17. Broth made from pork, beef and chick bones. Noodles made in house (which is amazing). They are also offering Korean comforts like Gukbap, [a comforting, traditional Korean dish consisting of hot soup served with rice.] - google ai . Perilla Ramen, a Korean sesame leaf or grounded seed, bringing a nutty flavour to the dish. Of course if you're feeling like sharing then they have some dumplings and fried chicken to share. We specifically wanted to order the Smoked Pork ($10.25). It did not disappoint. It had a good ratio of fat and meat and it melted in the mouth. Very little chewing needed. The pickled radish was a fantastic and refreshing palette cleanser. I think the only disappointing part was that there wasn't enough pork. We also ordered: Regular Ramen $14.95 Perilla Ramen $16.75 I believe that all the ramens come with a nice chunk of smokey fall-apart pork, a jammy egg and green onions. But I do love how they had the corn, spinach and mushroom on the side (for those picky eaters). Ramengers feat. Smoking Pig are doing something right for sure! I heard that the spicy ramen is highly raved about. I'm excited to try it on my next visit. Keep up the good work! Also check their socials for updates.

The menu is simple and you would expect the quality to be very good. However I was very disappointed. The broth is a pork bone broth but on the lighter side. Not much oils or fats in it. The price is really good for a bowl of ramen that includes an egg, chashu, and some side veggies. The soup did not come piping hot though. The noodles are the worst part. They are super soggy from the very beginning and worse than instant noodles. That is where the majority of the score is lost. Another thing is that the spicy ramen level 3 is extemely spicy. Like a level 7 and higher. Not recommended for anyone looking for medium spicy. Since this is a korean japanese fusion, they serve perilla ramen and fried chicken. The fried chicken had a different batter than other korean fried chicken places. It's nice and crispy but the downside is that there is too much batter and the chicken is not juicy at all.

It sounded so good I had to order it despite ordering it before and not liking it . They give a large portion so it's a good food to share with a party of friends! This is probably personal preference but the tteokbokki was a bit too soft and overcooked for my taste.
