One of the few ramen places in Coquitlam. It's decent for the area, but not outstanding. I felt as if the broth was under seasoned (which is much better than being over seasoned), so I had to add a fair amount. Overall, the service was good and attentive. Seating is limited, if that matters to some.

I wasn't a big fan a few years ago because I found they used too much msg in their broth and didn't care for their wontons. Came back tonight and pleasantly surprised the broth wasn't making me parched. I had the (braised pork) ramen, it was delicious. The Kakuni melts in your mouth and had so much flavour. Service is good considering how busy they were. Space is tight very small hole in the wall, sometimes awkward standing at the entrance while trying to get seated.

    Nagasaki ramen, heat level 2

Came here not expecting too much but I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of different ramen to try. Some are traditional but some are definitely not! I ordered the Nagasaki Ramen that comes with a bunch of seafood in a shio base. I was able to choose my heat preference, and I chose 2 however I think next time I can easily go for a 3 or a 4 on a particularly cold winter's day. Definitely returning to check out the rest of the menu!

This ramen spot is an absolute gem! My coworkers and I go there almost every day, and for good reason. The food is consistently amazing--flavourful, and beautifully presented. The service is equally impressive, with friendly and attentive staff who make us feel right at home. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a standout ramen experience!

Bland, uninspiring vegan ramen, but not terrible. I do appreciate more and more ramen places catering to vegans. That's why I tried this place out for lunch. Located in Henderson Place Mall, you can enter through the mall or from the outside, with plenty of free marking around. It's a tiny little place with only a few tables. I ordered their vegan ramen ($13.95 plus tax) and selected 4 out of 5 on the spiciness level, which was more than tolerable. My ramen came out in about 10 minutes. You get a massive bowl with mixed veggies (bok choy, cabbage, corn, black fungus, onion, and tomato) and a huge portion of instant-style noodles. The broth is what makes or breaks a ramen though, and sadly, the broth was super bland. It seemed to be a sort of tomato and lemon-based broth (I found a charred lemon wedge at the bottom); low sodium and just not flavourful at all, with no complexity or depth. Nothing offensive about it, just dreadfully boring. I appreciated all the veggies, the portion, the pricing, and the service, but they need to up their game on the vegan broth. Until they make some improvements, not recommended for their vegan ramen (my 3-star rating is generous).B

    Cha-ku ramen

Came here today for lunch. I ordered the Cha-ku ramen and got a spice level of 4 and my boyfriend got the Double-Double with the same spice level. The good: - large noodle portion - rich flavorful broth - well marinaded jammy egg (no additional charge might I add) - reasonably priced - no problem with their service The bad: - cha-su was too lean for my taste (boyfriend did not mind) - my ramen came with pieces of pork belly which was flavorful BUT I can tell it was microwaved and was so dry and chewy, pretty inedible All in all, it's one of the better ramen places outside of downtown Vancouver. It's definitely nice that we don't have to drive all the way to downtown to satisfy our ramen craving anymore. I might stay away from their pork belly next time and request for a more fatty piece of chasu but would definitely go back again!

I stopped by for a late lunch today. We were seated right away. Menu and water were dropped off shortly afterwards. We ordered the double double ramen, chicken karaage ramen and pork gyoza. Food arrived quickly after we placed our order. The pork gyoza was good but tasted like the pre-made grocery store variety. The ramen portion was very good. There was more than enough soft chewy noodles. The broth was not the most flavourful and lacked the depth the top ramen restaurants have mastered. However, I was content with this option in the area. The egg was nicely marinated with a soft yolk. The chashu was tender and flavourful. The chicken karaage was alright. It was fried well. The restaurant is not the most child friendly. There was a booster seat without a seatbelt so your child has to be able to stay in the seat during dining. They did have plastics water cups for the children. Service was great. We had extra plates for sharing. Our server stopped by regularly to clear away dirty dishes. Our server also saw how fussy our child was and offered a bag of gummies. It kept our child quiet just long enough to pack and leave. Covid precautions were in place. Staff wore face masks. Contact information was collected for tracing purposes. Hand sanitizer was available. Credit card payment accepted which is alway a convenient option. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food.

Greeted by a server with too much makeup and too much attitude. She treated us like we owed her favours. She needs to learn more than a few things about providing courteous and professional customer service. We went with our 3 year old child and she gave us a dirty look when we said we would share with our child and didn't order anything for her. The server never came by to check up on us. When we were done, neither of the two servers came by and there were only two other tables of two. They just stood around like they were waiting for a bus at a stop. The other server wasn't any better. She coldly blurted out the total without even looking up and spoke to us like we weren't even there. Then walked away from us without even giving us the receipt. The chef/owner wasn't much better. He yelled at and scolded his employees so loudly in Korean, everyone could hear him. I guess rude boss begets rude employees. Food was mediocre at best. The combo is a scam and a waste of money because the salad and donburi are so small and tasteless, no one in their right mind would pay money for them. Ramen was ok, but the noodle was too much like deep fried instant ramen noodle. Cha shu tasted ok, but smelled of pork more than usual. Overall experience: 1/5 Would we go back? No.

Been here several times, I work across the street. My first time here, food was not good. I told myself not worth going back to. But after a long day of work, almost a year after my first experience I was starving and it looked pretty busy inside, I said what the heck lets give it another go. Its a cute and small restaurant part of Henderson MallI, with entrance both from inside and outside mall. I sat near the front facing the street, good for people watching. Menu had plenty of options from noddles, sushi, ramen so on, and prices were great. I ordered the kimch ramen lunch special. Came with salad, a side rice dish and a big bowl of ramen. It looked good but tasted wrong. It didn't have that depth you expect from a ramen broth it just didn't have good flavours and the noddles just not good similar to a instant ramen noddles. I try adding seasonings that were provided at the table, it didn't help. I did like the side rice dish and salad, only thing I ended up finishing. I'm usually not a soup person to begin with, but I've had good ramen and know when its not good and it seems like others have had the same experience here.

This place has very few seats and is usually busy. The Ramen is delicious, the broth has a very deep flavor and you can choose spicy level from 0 - 5 if you wanna workup a sweat. One of the best Ramen joints outside of the downtown Vancouver core. Good bang for your buck.

Sho Bu Ramen is a little shop with very limited seats, right on the outsides of Henderson Mall in Coquitlam. The price is unbeatable. Their "ramen + donburi + salad combo" consists of a ramen (kimchi, cha shu, chicken negi, kakuni) and mini donburi (cha shu, al-bab, bbq salmon, salmon, bbq saba) and a mini house salad is only $11.90!! . I wanted to like this place so bad but as soon as I saw it and took my first bite, it was a thumbs down for me. I got the "cha shu" ramen and the noodles looked and tasted like instant ramen noodles and the cha shu was super chewy and had no taste. The mini donburi was smaller than a fist size and the bbq "salmon" were tiny little scraps from sushi rolls.

Honestly we didn't know what to except when we first rolled up. But its good to know that they have their own (though limited) parking area in front of the restaurant. The restaurant did have a bar kind of vibe, but I think its mostly due to covid. Lots of local and small restaurants had to adjust. Making more space for take out order and leaving more space for customers to spread out. Once seated the menu was super straight forward. Ramen Ranging from $15-$17. Broth made from pork, beef and chick bones. Noodles made in house (which is amazing). They are also offering Korean comforts like Gukbap, [a comforting, traditional Korean dish consisting of hot soup served with rice.] - google ai . Perilla Ramen, a Korean sesame leaf or grounded seed, bringing a nutty flavour to the dish. Of course if you're feeling like sharing then they have some dumplings and fried chicken to share. We specifically wanted to order the Smoked Pork ($10.25). It did not disappoint. It had a good ratio of fat and meat and it melted in the mouth. Very little chewing needed. The pickled radish was a fantastic and refreshing palette cleanser. I think the only disappointing part was that there wasn't enough pork. We also ordered: Regular Ramen $14.95 Perilla Ramen $16.75 I believe that all the ramens come with a nice chunk of smokey fall-apart pork, a jammy egg and green onions. But I do love how they had the corn, spinach and mushroom on the side (for those picky eaters). Ramengers feat. Smoking Pig are doing something right for sure! I heard that the spicy ramen is highly raved about. I'm excited to try it on my next visit. Keep up the good work! Also check their socials for updates.

The menu is simple and you would expect the quality to be very good. However I was very disappointed. The broth is a pork bone broth but on the lighter side. Not much oils or fats in it. The price is really good for a bowl of ramen that includes an egg, chashu, and some side veggies. The soup did not come piping hot though. The noodles are the worst part. They are super soggy from the very beginning and worse than instant noodles. That is where the majority of the score is lost. Another thing is that the spicy ramen level 3 is extemely spicy. Like a level 7 and higher. Not recommended for anyone looking for medium spicy. Since this is a korean japanese fusion, they serve perilla ramen and fried chicken. The fried chicken had a different batter than other korean fried chicken places. It's nice and crispy but the downside is that there is too much batter and the chicken is not juicy at all.

It sounded so good I had to order it despite ordering it before and not liking it . They give a large portion so it's a good food to share with a party of friends! This is probably personal preference but the tteokbokki was a bit too soft and overcooked for my taste. I also think I prefer to have fried chicken and dip it into the tteokbokki instead so overall this dish was not my favourite.
