Solid ramen (and sushi) place inside the 1st Avenue Marketplace strip mall. This restaurant is on the lower level, facing the S side of the parking lot. I was always leery of trying this place until now for some reason, but I am glad I did. Parking here is plentiful. Rejoice. Inside is the typical Japanese theme, with light coloured walls and dark wood. I suspect the staff here are Korean, not Japanese. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. The waitress recommended the Black ramen (includes charcoal bits). I got the chashu (pork) option. For those who eat more, I would recommend getting a noodle refill for a few dollars more. Fresh and tasty. Includes soft boiled egg, grilled garlic, some seaweed sheets, and some other stuff (fungus?). Decent taste. There is less soup than other places though, so be sure to "budget" the soup with any noodle refills. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point to try their sushi or poke bowls. Recommended.

First time here. I ordered the cold noodle dish. The noodles were yummy, chewy and springy. I ordered the "Sashimi Ramen combo" . For an extra $10.50 they give you 2 pieces of salmon and 2 pieces of tuna. However I was quickly disappointed when the sashimi came. There were 4 pieces of eraser-size fish and did not taste fresh at all. For what I got, it was over priced. The dining area was okay. The bathroom needs a complete overhaul. Service was friendly.

We choose this restaurant randomly. Surprisely Their sushi and kastu don are pretty nice. Must come back again.

Decent sized bowl. Rich Tonkotsu broth and they load it with black garlic oil! The chasu was good and everything else standard. I thought the excess oil would overpower the broth but it was just right. The egg was perfectly cooked and the garlic chips added texture. It's located right by T&T so there's tons of parking Small sized restaurant but service was good.

Came back here a second time for cold ramen as it was the summer and it definitely did not disappoint. We got the large side to split and it was quite refreshing on a warm afternoon.

This restaurant is a hidden gem! We ordered the black ramen and the kara miso along with karaage for appetizer. The broths were flavourful and we were really impressed with the noodle to topping ratio. The karaage was very crispy and slightly sweet (most likely sweet potato flour) and went very well with the Chipotle citrus sauce. Would definitely come here again when we are craving ramen!

A little hidden place in the lower parking lot of the T&T 1st. Ave Shopping center. No wait for a table and food came quickly. Dish wasn't overly spicey, just enough to warm the tummy on a chilly day. The broth was very good. I noticed the server was easily distracted so you have to speak up if you want to order or pay up. However, she was polite and friendly.

This ramen is absolutely delicious. This place is amazing, it's kind of a hole in the wall spot, it's a small restaurant, maybe seating for 20 people? I got the black ramen with pork and my friend got fried chicken on top. The pork was soft and yummy, the broth was rich in flavor. Usually I don't drink the Broth but I finished the whole ramen. Fairly priced. Right now this is def my go to spot for ramen in Vancouver.

My husband wanted to take me to a special place for dinner last Friday. I was quite surprised when we parked in the First Avenue plaza Although the restaurant was busy and there was only 1 server, she was attentive and tried to serve us as soon as she could Our meals were served quite quickly! The Black Ramen broth was very tasty. It was served with a ramen egg, bean sprouts and couple of thin slices of Cha shu. The Cha shu was unforgettable, it was smoky and very tender. This cha shu is a must try! The curry karaage was also very yummy. The curry sauce was served on the side and was unlimited! And the chicken pieces were so juicy and crispy The only downside of this place is that it was a bit stuffy. I would come back to try their other ramen, for our next date night!

Stopped at Fuku Ramen for dinner tonight. We have passed it many times but never went in until today. We had the chasu wrap, chasu ramen and classic ramen with chicken karaage instead of pork. We added corn to each bowl. The chasu wrap was really good, and we will definitely order this again. Both ramen's were also good. The chicken karaage was crispy even after it soaked in the soup. The soup was super tasty. The noodles were the perfect consistency. It's great to have a good ramen place near us.

New and small place, very clean located in a compound with other restaurants, groceries and other business establishments Huge shared free parking also accessible transit Mostly Japanese foods carrying dish is RAMEN My first time in here and wanna try all the gigs, newly moved in..and my place is just a block away. Somewhat busy when i came I tried the karamisu ramen and it was excellent Very rich soup spices is just right for my tastebuds Service is excellent, accept cash, debit Noise level is average, japanese inspired decors No TV but theres music playing. Im in a hurry so wasnt able to check washroom Wifi is free around the area both telus and shawopen Good quality of food with the right pricing I recommend this place to ramen lovers I see huge potential for this restaurant with the location aswell. Will be back asap

I've tried 3 of their ramen flavours and they've all been top notch! My favourite thus far is the Kara Miso, which packs a perfect amount of heat and rich umami flavour. The broth of the Black ramen is delicious and full-bodied, as well. I would highly recommend getting the karaage instead of the chashu, as it is the best karaage I've ever had. You can order it as a side dish, too. My only comment is that I would prefer for the karaage to be served separately so it doesn't get soggy. Lovely hidden gem!

It was a pretty good ramen and pretty cheap too for the size. Get the black ramen if you come here and dont get the combo because its not worth to add extra $3 for such a small salad honestly. But do come for the good black ramen. Get the karage too not the chashu because the karage is much better!!

Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.

Unlike many ramen spots that rely on a heavy tonkotsu (pork) broth, Maruhachi stands out by using a creamy chicken broth. It's hearty yet balanced and surprisingly light. I also loved that they offer side sauces so you can adjust the saltiness to your preference. The spice had a perfect kick -- more of a warming, throat spice that builds without overpowering the broth. The pork was incredibly tender, and the soft-boiled egg was cooked perfectly, with a rich, creamy yolk that was full of flavor. My fiance got the Pork Chashu bowl which she said was so full of flavor, she also was adding the broth from my ramen in it to add some more warmth and flavor to the bowl. The spot itself is small but very unique, and I love how they stay true to tradition. Service was good -- nothing over the top -- but efficient and fast. I truly enjoyed every bite, especially on a cold night in Vancouver. It also seemed like a lot of locals eat here, which is always a good sign. Definitely a must-visit for ramen lovers.

The gyoza and rice bowl were great! The gyoza, which we ordered on the recommendation of our waiter when we told them we were looking for a vegetarian appetizer, were made with soy-based imitation meat that had a very meaty texture - simple but very tasty. The rice bowl also had the soy meat, but seasoned differently, with a more intense flavour, along with atsuage tofu and various vegetables. It was delicious and also seemed healthy. We liked the aburi cheesecake, but it was more lemony than we expected. The waiters who brought it out said the lemon was to cut the sweetness, but we actually felt like the lemon competed with the caramel flavour of the bruleed crust. The textures were amazing though. We really enjoyed our meal here and I wish I'd tried them sooner!
