I have been craving roasted duck and pork for weeks now and so glad I came here! Make sure you bring cash though! The duck was nice and moist and the flavor was impeccable. However, I received a lot of fatty pieces that did take away from the amount of actual duck meat I could eat. The crispy pork had super crispy skin and was really tasty!! The pieces were a little dry, but dipping it into the sauce helped a lot. Though the flavor was there, I had to take away a star for the fatty pieces and slightly dry pork. The counter service was really nice and pleasant as well, so I will most definitely come back next time I'm in the area. read more

I've been coming here with my family since I was a little girl so this place holds a special place in my heart. We've had many meals with the family here. This ranges from their soy sauce chicken, char siu pork, duck, to their beef and seafood chow fun. These are the staple dishes my family and I consume. It is CASH only. They also do offer togo. They do the classic "whole bird" dishes that can be hard to find in Atlanta in general, not to mention "done well." This includes two gems: Peking duck and soy chicken. I was not aware that I've never reviewed HKBBQ! We've only eaten here for the past 10 years! Actually, the usual drill is to get BBQ for take-out. Often, it's the duck, whether it's the usual BBQ duck or a slightly more expensive pei-pah duck (more crispy and more exotic flavor), the char-siu, and/or the crispy skin pork. All 3 are top-notch, almost at a par with some of the best in North America or Asia. Other times, we've ordered dishes for take-out as well if we don't feel like cooking. There's not a great deal of variety in that department compared to a regular restaurant, but in a pinch, they would more than suffice. They actually do a ton of business with the rice plates they serve, at lunch and dinner, and probably as much to the latino clientele as the Chinese: basically a plate of rice with a meat and veggie over it, or a BBQ meat or two, perhaps a tofu stew - comfort food to those of us who grew up on it! read more

Beware that they tend to sell the left over food from the day before to those customers who came early just after they open. Several times I had their leftover microwave roast duck and bbq pork. Yesterday leftover food via microwave become tough and very chewy. I have patronize this store for over 10 years, their service and meat quality has deteriorated. This food here is great. I usually order rice with bok choy crispy pork & duck. It's delicious, so far the best I've been able to find in the ATL area. The customer service isn't really the best, but you can always let go of stuff like that when the food is tasty. Definitely recommend checking this spot out. The second best authentic Cantonese food in Atlanta. I always get the dry beef chow fun (gan chow ngar hau) and the Singapore rice noodles. My dad loves this place, and he is almost impossible to please when it comes to Chinese food, especially after growing up in Hong Kong for 17 years of his life. Even my white friend loved the dry beef chow fun and the Singapore rice noodles, in spite of disliking most Chinese dishes. The pressed duck (with most of the fat pressed out of it) is also delicious, tender, and flavorful. Even though the food court is definitely ghetto and ugly, the food at Hong Kong BBQ is excellent quality. I can't say the same for the other restaurants at the Chinatown food court. read more

I had never even heard of the Chinatown Food Court, let alone Hong Kong BBQ, until just a few weeks ago. A large group of friends wanted to grab at the Chinatown Food Court on a Saturday evening, so I was eager to see what the hype was about. Those who could read the menus had a difficult time translating what the menu items were (?!!). Luckily for me, there was Hong Kong BBQ. Hong Kong BBQ actually had a menu in English! I breathed a sigh of relief and proceeded to ask the fluently English-speaking employee what he would recommend for me to try. For some reason, he had a hard time thinking of what was most popular. Ultimately, I decided to get the three meats over rice - roasted duck, crispy pork, and BBQ pork. * Three Meats Over Rice - I can't recall exactly how much this was, but it was definitely less than $7, and it includes a small bowl of soup. I had never tried this soup before, but it contained tofu skin, which I wasn't a fan of. The duck, crispy pork, and BBQ pork were very good! The baby bok choy was the perfect veggie to go with the meats and rice. It wasn't a lot of food, but it was the perfect portion for one person. Overall, Hong Kong BBQ in the Chinatown Food Court gets 4 stars for their cheap and tasty meats over rice. Gotta come here for the char siu and crispy pork. Better than pretty much anywhere else in town and gives Ming's BBQ a solid run for its money as best Cantonese BBQ spot in ATL. Hong Kong BBQ used to be my favorite stand in the Chinatown Food Court. Mostly because 15 years ago, I couldn't read anything else at the other places. My Taiwanese friend at that time introduced me to HK BBQ. So ever since then, I always got the Liang Bao Fan (2 meats over rice) or San Bao Fan (3 meats over rice). Eventually, the Chinatown Food Court stopped catering to only Chinese speaking people and provided English menus. Slowly I tried other places at the Chinatown Food Court like Chong Qing, Yanmi Yanmi, and Lan Zhou. But since I've been to Hong Kong BBQ so much, it has a special place in my heart. I went back the other day and wondered if my old favorite was still good. I got the Char Siu and Duck over rice. The char siu didn't have much flavor. It also seemed dry and overcooked. The duck didn't seem bad. It had decent flavor and was moist. Overall, the dish lacked the flavor I wanted. Maybe they needed to add a bit more lo shui sauce to the dish. One thing I noticed is that they have a huge English menu consisting of a lot of curry dishes. I didn't look at the menu too carefully, but I couldn't see Chow Fun or San Bao Fans on the menu. But they will make it for you if you ask for it. read more

We came to the supermarket deli and i chose this place after checking out the other ones in the food court. They all looked awesome but this one was going to be picked for this trip. Little did i know Ive had this place bookmarked for like a year for the chowfun and I didn't notice until I was writing this review! Needless to say Ill have to go back for it. We had the bbq pork which was good and the shrimp with blackbean sauce which was just ok. Food came out quick and of course its ridiculous portions. This is a little store in a food court in Chinatown. These is a great place to get heo quay (roasted pig, crispy) and dry beef chow fun. The heo quay was great because it was super crispy without being too fatty. The chow fun was great and exactly what I've been looking for since I've gotten to ATL...other places I've tried, the seasoning has been too salty or bland with no flavor whatsoever. Though this is in Chinatown, there is a great diversity of patrons who visit here. This is definitely a great stop for lunch if you're looking for something different. read more

We're from East Cobb, so we don't get much in the way of authentic Chinese. From the suggestions here, we chose the Dry Beef Chow Fun, which was great, a mixed vegetable plate and the Beef curry noodle bowl, which was just spicy enough for me. I didn't like the setup of the cafeteria, but the food was better than most. On the way out, my wife stopped by the Ocean Cafe across the room for Dam Bing, an egg pancake she loved from when she was in Taiwan. It gets 4/5 as well. read more

I tried their popular two meats over rice dish at the UYE (http://www.yelp.com/events/atlanta-buford-highway-uye-chinatown-food-court) a few days ago and it has fallen a long way. It was much better in the past. I'm hoping it was just a bad night because both the roast pork and the roast duck were neither fresh nor appetizing. The meats were too salty, the plate's portion size (including rice) was small, and the cabbage seemed old. Fail all around. I hope their beef chow fun hasn't gone downhill too. Granted, choices are surprisingly limited in Atlanta, but this place has fast, friendly service and aside from their barbeque selection, they also have a very expansive menu of delicious hot meals. My hands-down favorite from here is the Soy Sauce Chicken; they do it better than anyone else! Very average Chinatown spot. Was craving authentic wonton noodle soup and decided to come here after researching places that sell it. Parking is ample and note the Chinatown food court only accepts cash. They do have an ATM inside somewhere. -Wonton NOODLE Soup ($7): wontons were authentic as it had both pork and shrimp inside. There were def more noodles than wontons (4-5 pieces). The soup also tasted a bit funny and def left an aftertaste. Luckily I wasn't going on a date afterwards. Overall, Chinatown is a good spot for a quick meal. Most likely will not come back here though given all the other options and Buford highway next door. read more

This is my go-to spot for Chinese barbecue meat (roast duck and roast pork), noodle dish or rice congee. Fast (if I am lucky to be the first few in the line or arrive here before peak period) and affordable authentic Cantonese dishes can be found here. Service is very friendly too. My usual order will be one or a few of the below: 1) roast duck 2) roast pork 3) chicken rice congee (perfect when I want to have something light and healthy) 4) fok ken chow mai fun (vermicelli +roast pork, shrimps, egg & bean sprouts) 5) dry beef chow fun (flat rice noodle with beef) The menu is extensive but I tend to stick to what I like. I guess the next time I should really try something new. The food court has undergone a renovation, I noticed new floor, tables and chair. The entire place probably even has a fresh coat of paint. It looks way better than before. Before I will not even think of sitting on one of those chairs, let alone eating inside the food court. This is my to go place when I'm craving for noodles. This place has the best 3 kind of meat Hong Kong noodles!! Too die for!! In the dish, honey bbq, duck and chicken. You have to order all three to get the flavor of this noodles! Trust me if you only order one kind of meat, is not that great! It was good but I believe it would have been better if I ate there. The noodle dish doesn't travel well and is probably better pipping hot. The duck was good the flavor was just as I remembered from Chinatown in NYC. However, it was cold so it has to be reheated. This place only takes cash. They have an ATM but the surcharge is hefty. If you're looking for crispy pork (the roasted pork with the cracklin' skin), then it's normally a crapshoot as to what pieces you get. Sometimes you get a fattier piece, sometimes you get a piece without the cracklins, sometimes you get perfect pieces. I tried it for the first time today, and I got 1/3 of each category. The perfect pieces were really, really good, with just a sliver of fat, a crunchy top, and all flavor. That's enough to make me come back. My favorite dish here is the Singapore Noodles. If I come to the food court, this always makes it to my table. I've also tried the roasted duck and chow fun but didn't find them exceptionally good. The Pressed Duck is amazing. Crispy, all the fat is pressed out and all you have left is crispy skin and tender duck. The Roast pork was crispy with just the right amount of fat. The skin was so crispy, reminds me of pork grinds. The sauce that comes with the roasted meats is a sweet soy that is great on rice. If you go, you'd be entertained by the food court alone, and once you get a taste of the BBQ meats, you would understand why all the Asians flock to this hidden gem. If you are non-Asian, or non-Hispanic, you will stick out like a sore thumb.. this is not midtown boys and girls! read more

Service is still unfriendly. No "How are yo,' or "What would you like to order," or even a smile has ever been heard or seen from the big guy behind the counter. But the roasted duck, when you clarify you don't mind waiting and you want it hot, is worth the visit. It is succulent, tender, and comes in a sauce you could happily dip anything with.
