This place is super HONEST & AMAZING! My mom & I were on a cross country road trip when we stopped overnight in Tyler, TX. That night my car was taking a long time to start & then the next morning still had trouble starting. Took it in to Honest Auto Care Shop thinking something was obviously wrong. They checked it out & said everything looked great. Said I must have put some bad gas in the car & that's why it was acting up. Upon leaving the shop- took their advice & filled up my car at a reputable gas station- car started normally & was running great again. Couldn't believe how smart & honest these guys were-- most places would have taken advantage of 2 women. They didn't even charge me for the inspection. I set up an appointment with CarMax and they sent me to this automotive repair company. This is not my first time coming here for services. I was called to confirm appointment and I had additional questions and through the conversation the representative from Honest Care was rude, telling me I needed to take my car to CarMax if I didn't was to be charged a diagnostic fee, honestly I was just explaining that I did not pay one before, and she got snappy and smart mouth. My phone lost service and hung up. I waited till I was able to call back but before I checked my email and saw my appointment was canceled. Called the shop and The woman I was speaking with cancels my appointment because she thought I hung up in her face.." I asked " why was my appointment canceled" she stated " because you hung up in my face" I asked her did she call back she stated yes hit my phone never got a missed call when I was back in service range. She was very rude and nasty. Honestly I did curse her out once she assumed I hung up in her face and at that point I did hang up in her face. Great place if she wasn't there, my first visit was pleasant and everyone was greeting and answered my questions with no problem. read more

I brought my truck in due to a screeching in my wheel area. They called and said it was a rock. They then state that I needed new brake pads and rotors. Feeling suspicious about it I took my truck home and did my own inspection. They seriously thought I wouldn't know what i was looking for (I usually change my own pads and rotors I was just in the middle of a very busy week). My pads had over 8mm left with no uneven wear or cracks, and the rotors looks new. This is because the rotors only had 20k miles put on them given the dealership had just changed the rotors when I purchased the vehicle. Nevertheless I felt for a lip on the rotor and inspected for warping and low and behold nothing was wrong. Still airing on the side of caution I contacted a mechanic friend and asked if he could come take a look as well, and he came to the conclusion. I will never go here or reccomend anyone to this shop ever. I was and still am appalled that people like this continue to make it near impossible to trust mechanic shops. I'm sure that 25k in snap on tools over in the corner aren't going to pay for themselves so you have to do something right? Given the name you would think they would be honest. read more

Have had issues here over the past, looking at the times I been here the first was the best back like when they first opened & when they really cared! The Gail lady omg she never knows if they can do a simple oil change and she's always there. Today the wait was 45 minutes due to an apt ahead of me. They have a big garage but hardly no workers to help with a few people going in for auto needs. I won't be back, and they give off weird vibes while you wait. Then One time I called back for something to be installed and the Gail lady was suppose to call me back but never did so after two hours I called her to see if she was still calculating the estimate or what. I heard meowing in my car throughout a three hour trip (I know... weird! But I have had kittens hide in my car before for heat) so I stopped by here to get it checked out. They were so thorough! And friendly! And clean! The place looks so professional... almost like what one would imagine a major chain brand building would be. They even had quality snacks like Perrier water, etc... They checked under the engine, hood, trunk, tire areas and thankfully there was no sign of a kitten. But they did find something that was concerning to them. They notified us and explained it all in detail. Then they have us a list of recommended flushes since my car was almost at 100,000 miles. Once again they explained it in detail and did not force anything on me. And the diagnoses with all this was complimentary! If I lived closer to Tyler, TX I would definitely use this place all the time. Overall a great experience. read more

I had my wife's Toyota Venza in for an oil change and tire rotation here around 2 weeks ago. I was pleased with the price until my wife barely made it home last night. The car was making a loud thumping noise at about 15 mph which got louder as the car went faster. I took off work to baby the car to the nearest Toyota dealership, as I assumed that this must be major and that they would be best qualified to deal with this. From my description they thought it was a rotor issue but when they went to take the wheels off, one of the front wheels had loose lug nuts and one of the back tires was missing lug nuts! Toyota fixed the issue and fortunately no major damage was done to the vehicle and no one was injured, but since Honest-1 was the last place to have these tires off, the blame goes to them. When I told them of the situation, they basically said this was impossible and that they can't do anything since I didn't bring it back to them. No sorry, no apology no nothin'! I left them a copy of my bill from Toyota and they said the owner would call me. He didn't. Guess he got one of his guys to cover for the lady "manager" and they didn't own up to the problem or rectify it. I guess the owner doesn't mind his underlings giving his business away. So, in my humble opinion, I would say that this operation is very far from honest! Be wary of the cheap oil change, it is just a hook for them to get you down the road. It is so true that you get what you pay for, especially these days. They are cheap in price and also very cheap when it comes to integrity. They need to change their name as it certainly doesn't apply to their operation! Finally, don't be fooled by all of the 5-star ratings on their website. This is obvious cherry picking on their part. They answered every one of my questions, of which I had many, and even took me into the shop to show me the problems. They reviewed the needed work with me, and helped me understand the reasons for each necessary part of the plan. The shop was clean, and each member of the staff was great. took my car to Honest Auto Care when it was over heating Mistake when I made the comment I have to take care of all repairs myself and being a woman to please fix what ever it needs. Quoted repair and I said OK picked up car drove about 20 miles home and it was overheating. Advised to drive it back to shop I did. Another high repair which I agreed to . Sent my grandson and a friend after auto Upon arriving at my home and car turned off water started spraying everywhere. Call Honest Auto and he sent wrecker to pick it up. Paying again for another water issue. My brother went with me to pick it up the so called Man that was so eager to assist when I first came there saw us and headed to shop sticking his head inside a car looking up every once in a while then ducking again. We asked for him to come inside and was told he was helping a customer When are customers allowed inside a repair shop? My car a few months later was ticking real bad took to dealership Heads were cracked due to overheating had to sell my sell for penny because of issues. I tried Honest-1 Auto Care in Tyler, TX after reviewing other customer comments. I was not disappointed. Customer service was outstanding. If you are waiting, the amenities are first rate and comparable to Mercedes dealerships I have used. My questions were answered and I was shown what work was done. They do provide a comprehensive check that shows what work needs to be done and what preventative items that could be done. No hard sells and one can ask for quotes for the future for preventative work. Also work is guaranteed for 3 yrs or 36000 mi. Kudos to my rep Luk. read more

I can't believe I didn't make this post sooner but the guys here are just scammers. I didn't know where else to take my car so I took it to the first shop that popped up. Guys we're nice and shuttled me home. Well after an hour he calls to tell me it's gonna cost $160 per hour to diagnose... and that he THINKS it's gonna take him 4 hours to diagnose so I already get uneasy that he just comes up with that number on his head. Well I tell a friend about it and his wife had the same experience. She brought it in for tires and they called her telling her if she didn't spend like a couple of grand to fix something the car gonna gonna explode on her or or breakdown or some bat shit crazy stuff like that. Well low and behold I took my car to another shop and it was diagnosed in 1/2 an hour and I only paid $234. And to make everything worse when I picked up my truck from honest + they handed me the "projected bill" of what it was cost and it was over $1100. OVER 1100. Meaning they didn't even know what was wrong. They tacked on several hours of "diagnosing time" not to mention parts to fix the problem they didn't even diagnose yet! I've had 2 OTHER people tell me since then that they scam people left and right so I finally decided to leave my review. These guys are crooks and will take advantage of anyone who walks through the door. read more

I had been meaning to take my car in before my car told me "maintenance due now" but on our way out of town, that came on. The Honda dealership in Arkansas had to take appointments as scheduled and had no time so when we got back home, my first stop was at Honest 1. I had received a flyer from them which I read and appreciated and their prices on the same services offered by others were cheaper! I pulled into the garage area, got out and asked for an oil change. I was lead to the front office, kept out of the rain, and was asked to answer a few questions. I had my oil changed and the tires rotated with no problems at all and in short order. They offered to replace my windshield wipers but recommended, since they were still under warranty, I should have them replaced by the dealership. I will check into that. Staff/Service were extremely friendly, professional and informative. There was a comfortable waiting area with beverages and snacks and were told to enjoy. The owner came in while I was there and he was very kind and appreciative that I had come in. There were several vehicles being worked on but they were able to get right to me. I felt their appreciation was genuine and my business actually meant something to them. I will use them on my next oil change. read more

After having a horrendous experience with a local auto dealer where I had been going for the past two years, I made the decision to research local auto care shops for an oil change. The reviews of Honest-1 Auto Care, were among the best in Tyler,so I made an online appointment. From the moment I walked in the door and was greeted by Gail, I could not have been more pleased and confident with the staff, the facility, and the service. Besides my oil change and tire rotation, I mentioned a concern about some oil spots on the garage floor. Gail explained that once the tech had the car " in the air" they would let me know what was found. I was given safety glasses and taken out to the very clean garage where the tech pointed out and explained very clearly, the minor problem. The waiting room and restroom were pristine. All of the staff was friendly and my service advisor Gail, was a joy to work with. The service was done in a timely manner and the cost was, I believe, quite reasonable.
