I was driving through East Texas on a Friday afternoon when my Durango began to overheat. I live in the Dallas metropolitan area and did not know of any auto repair shops in the Tyler area. I found reviews on Yelp for Engines Express and they were all very good. I called the shop and they were very knowledgeable and professional and I felt comfortable with them. I managed to get my vehicle to them just before they closed for the weekend. They called me early in the day on Monday after troubleshooting and gave me their findings. We agree to a course of action. They ordered the parts and completed the repairs Tuesday morning. I am very pleased with Engines Express. I brought care in for a transmission. They said about a week and price what I expected. They drove and said definitely needs new transmission and I knew this as it was slipping terrible. I told them to wait a day as the new transmission would be about $5000 as this is supercharged engine, and that was a knock on the car too much power for the transmissions. So I wanted the Jasper trans as it had 3 years 100k warranty. However we changed our mind as putting 5k in 22 year old car with 240k miles was kind of iffy. They did not charge anything for testing and were not upset. Seemed like good people to work with. read more

Thinking I knew everything about my car, I called Engine's Express for an appointment to check my car out. It kept cutting off when I would get to a red light or Stop sign. Robby told me to bring it in and let him take a look. We'll, I did, he called me back and told me what it was. I asked was it my spark plugs, he said they were good. Everything I thought it was, he said was good. So, I told him to go ahead and do his job on my car. When I picked my car up I just knew it would die before I got off the lot. Believe me, it did Not! I was so surprised! I drove on and came to a red light, it did Not die. I thought to myself he and Terry knew exactly what was wrong with my car. Thank God! After reading the reviews online both in Google and Yelp. I decided to take my Toyota Corolla to engines express.First time when i went there, They checked my car and found the issue was with starter.They were bit pricey and the repair cost which i was told is bit expensive than other competetors.So i asked them if there is any deals they can apply or if there is any discounts they can apply on top of that price.They denied to give any deal and bit annoyed.During my initial visit i requested them to also check what was wrong with my car driver side door and i was told by one of their employee / mechanic that they can fix the door handle at no charge if i get my starter repair done at their store. I Left the engines express and wanted to get a second openion at other mechanic. I did so and finally want to get my car repair done @engines expres due to the reviews from other users online. They repaired my starter and partially fixed the door handle ( i provided them the part). So far i dont see any issues with the starter but i was bit frustrated and unhappy with the way that one of their guy/ owner behaved with me. He was arguing with me that they fixed the car door as promised at no charge. I do agree they arranged the door handle at right place but they did not fix the issue completely. Guy who ever spoke with me was bit arrogant and he don't want to hear if any customer ask about the deals. I have no issues to pay what ever the money that they were asking but they should not promise the cusotmers with un-realistic offer like you can fix the problems at no charge. It seems to me that there is a lot of communication gap between the mechanics and front office staff. So finally be polite and reliable with the customers consistantly. read more

After reading the reviews on Yelp, I decided to take my son's Honda Civic In to have the rack and pinion steering replaced. The Honda dealer in Waco as well as the dealer in Tyler had both recommended that this be replaced. The price that both had quoted was very high. I called Engines Express and spoke with Enrique who quoted me a price that was much less than the two dealers. He was also extremely friendly as was the gentleman who greeted me at the door when I arrived. They did a great job with the car. I will definitely go back! I highly recommend them! read more

My VW Tiguan had been leaking coolant for a couple weeks and nothing I tried had helped the issue. I am new to the area and didn't know where to take it, so I took a shot in the dark with Engines Express. It turned out to be a great decision because we were treated with respect and patience throughout the whole process - and it was not an easy process because of the nature of my VW's problem. My husband and I got stranded momentarily on our cross-country honeymoon and got towed here for repairs. We were greeted warmly and our car was taken care of within a couple of hours so we could hit the road the same day. The waiting room was air conditioned and had a TV. The folks at the front desk were incredibly friendly and chatted with us for a while as we waited. Overall a pleasant, no stress, reasonably priced experience. Mr.V..First, I never, EVER drive my car near empty So I don't know who was telling you he put $$$$ of gas in my rickety old car which I sold in 2008/2009, I'd take a harder look at them. I gave you the one star rating star because that lousy "service", "no 12 month warranty" feeling which leaves a person feeling ripped off...and they have been...sticks in people's craw for YEARS. It's still my Achille's heel"...so unnecessary and damaging for your PR. That was and has been my opinion of your shop. Reason for Yelp, is it not? Back to my car...yes, I tried you a few more times for a tune up and...water pump? No major work so don't give impression you resurrected my car and kept it drivable for years. We both know you did not! I only had car for 3-4 years...it was purring day I sold it...never had anything major done to it. They were able to get me in the next day for that and a tire patch and both were extremely affordable. I would like to say that the professional way in which they handled business with us was exemplary. We have a supercharged 2015 5.0 mustang, in which the clutch went out, after tearing it down I received a phone call from the owner explaining that if I wanted to buy a racing clutch they would put it in the same as if he were to just put in a stock clutch. Really put a lot of trust in these people. Took our one ton in to find short in it. Bill keep going up and going up. After 1400.00 the said they found it and fixed it. In reality they pulled the fuse for the trailer lights out. When I went to pull the mounted police trailer for the first time I found out what really done. I've made a point to tell everyone don't trust these people. We had taken all our vehicles to them before this. We have been customers of Engines Express for well over 10 years and this week we had to take in my husband's older truck, his "baby", to have the oil changed and find out why the Check engine light was on.
