Great place to get your vehicle repaired or serviced. I had my head gasket replaced here since some other shops couldn't even figure out how to diagnose it. Stanley has always been informative and honest. He spent about an hour diagnosing my Civic and didnt charge me for it. All dealers will charge at least $130 just to look at your car. He didnt try to up sell me on anything. He even recommends his customers to go back to honda for their warranty repairs. Some shadier shops will probably charge you for a repair when it wouldve been covered by the warranty. Anyways, 14k miles after my head gasket repair the car is running fine. Anyways, head gasket repair turned out to be $700 and he replaced a bunch of other seals along the way. Not the cheapest or the most expensive, but definitely quality work. I had some other work i wanted to be done on my car, Stanely told me what parts to buy so he was only going to charge me labor. He seems to be always interested in giving you the best option in repair work. Bottom line: Honcura is honest, quality of work is top notch and the prices are reasonable. Every now and then I'll get a second quote and a second opinion on what he says just to make sure he hasn't taken my business for granted. He always shoots me straight and his prices are great. I can honestly say that as long as I have a Honda, Stan at Honcura will be my go-to guy! He is genuinely the best, most honest mechanic I have ever encountered. I did my research and reviewed a lot of yelp reviews before I decided on Honcura. It's the first time that I needed my car fixed since I've moved here and was very cautious of getting ripped off! This was not the case with Honcura. I went in for a broken front engine mount and brakes. I also brought the list of suggestions you get from ez-lube of all the "critical" items I needed fixed on my car. My car was fixed in under 2 hours and was told I could hold on getting my tires replaced for another 3-5k miles - after he rotated them. None of the critical items needed to be done on my car. How refreshing - an honest mechanic! Who works on Hondas and Acuras only so I felt he knew what he was doing with my car! Highly recommend! read more

This is just me, I don't like any mechanic touching or inspecting my filter, tire pressure area or where I am not aware if I don't ask for it. It is preference, most places will go out of their way to do extra to try to sell you more craps and waste more times. What I read from kazue, I don't agree with the negative she experience. My AC stopped working during the heat of this summer just when I needed it so desperately. It turned out my air compressor needed replacing. Honcura's price was the highest at $850 when others quoted $700 ($350 part +$350 labor) and (another shop told me it would be) around $500-$600 (but they didn't have the required vacuum equipment). Honcura Auto said $850 ($600 part +$250 labor). Though I don't have too much money, I also didn't have too much time, so Instead of returning to the less expensive shop, I negotiated with Honcura Auto and got the price down to $800 plus a free oil change. When I got home, I googled, and sure enough Honda compressors for my car model was around $350 all over the net. The guy was friendly and I got my AC back but it left a bitter taste in my mouth. read more

My element is out of warranty now and the desire for dealership service went out the door with my warranty ;-) Actually, was in need of a 60K service & called 2 honda dealers. Honda World is doing these comprehensive service packages at comprehensive rates... they quoted me upwards of $500-$600. Colonial Honda was more competitive & quoted in the neighborhood of $330. To the joy of my pocket-book, Stanley got my "lunch-box on wheels" squared away for just over $200. It's a small shop tucked away off busy San Fernando Road and easy to pass-by, but definitely worth seeking out. If you can forgo the fancy customer lobby's with espresso and donuts and flat panel TV's, save yourself some bank and give your business to Honcura's Honda & Acura! read more

Stanley is the real deal. I thought that all those positive reviews for Honcura were perhaps fabricated. Upon meeting Stanley, I knew him for a man of integrity. Now I can concur with everything positive said in these pages. I took in my 97 Accord for a new radiator and am extremely satisfied. His prices are very reasonable and he is a pleasure to deal with. On the same visit, I asked him to check out why my power steering was squealing. Any other mechanic would say the belt needs replacing. Stanley just tightened the belt--for no charge! I would take my other Honda to him, but it's under warranty so I have to go to a dealer. Bummer. :) read more

We got the transmission of our Honda rebuild from Honcura. At other AAA approved places, we were given an estimate of $2300. However, Stanley did a superb job at a reduced price of $1600. After that, we never had any leaks. In another instance, our car door was brushed in a parking lot and our insurance company's approved body shop gave us an estimate of $100, but Stanley did it for free. For the past few years I had been taking my 2005 Civic to a Honda repair shop in NoHo. They gave me a list of "problems" with my car, and based on the mysterious shaking and rattling noises, I momentarily believed that I needed to spend the $3400+ estimated to get it fixed. Thank god for my gut instinct telling me to get a second opinion! I found Stan through Yelp, and thanks to all of the other 5 star reviews I decided to check this guy out. Yoda? Really? Let me see for myself. Yep, you were right. Amazingly fast and friendly, no bs. And yes, my car did have problems, but the total I paid was just over $400. I wanted to give the guy a hug! He literally saved me $3k that I would have spent at the other place. Now I'm kicking myself because I KNOW I was being ripped off before. Sigh. At least people like Stan still exist in this world. I've been using Stan since he first opened his shop. He's been great and has continued to be that consistently great with all our family and extended family and friends! Years ago I specifically researched and looked for an Acura and Honda mechanic. Back then I had tried a handful of mechanics and ended up staying with Stan. I used to own a 1996 Prelude and an Acura Integra, so I used Honcura exclusively for years. Although our family has since moved over to mainly Toyotas, we still use Stan for all of them. No hype. Now I have read some "other" reviews on Stan/Honcura that were not stellar reviews. All I can say is you can't please all the folks all the time, I guess. But truly, Stan has been as consistent as they come from my experience. I recommend him at every opportunity. In fact, whenever we've purchased new cars, my wife used to always take our cars to the dealership for regular maintenance, especially in the beginning. At least that was until I convinced her to "try" Stan. After she tried Stan, she has never gone back to the dealership for maintenance etc. BTW, re: some of my used cars, specifically the Prelude and Integra, I had sold both of them for "pretty much" what I originally bought them for. They were kept in great condition. Anyway, I'm very glad to see Stan expanding. I haven't found Stan any less consistent than he was when I first started using him ??+ years ago. I have found from experience that his "intention" has been and continues to be, to service his customers ethically and keep-in his integrity business-wise. I personally believe his level of customer service and technical expertise is what should be the norm or standard, not the rarity or exception and should be validated. Well, like everybody else, I've known him for at least 5 or 6 years. I first called around because my old Honda Accord had some problem. I don't remember exactly what the problem was, but I talked to a few auto repair shops and they all gave me wishy washy answers, like bring in your car, or I can't quote you over the phone. Luckily, I found Stan, the owner and car mechanic from Honcura, and he actually tried to help me! Meaning he gave me answers unconditionally, asking nothing in return!!! I then decided that I would go to him since I had a good feeling about him. Sure enough when I arrived he fixed my car and I felt good that he didn't add on anything extra. Stan does come off as a good honest human being. The key word here is HONEST!!! This is a trait we all need from every car mechanic!!!! My girlfriend goes to him now with her car. There are times when we hear screeching from the brakes and we take our cars in and he said the pads are still good and sent us home! Could you believe that! Going to a car shop is like going to the doctor or dentist. It's uncomfortable feeling of being helpless. But when you go to Stan you feel he'll help you and solve your problem. And you also know he won't try to rip you off. For all you strangers out there, I know he fixes Honda's and Acura's, but if you own any other kind of cars call him and talk to him. The check-engine light had been on in my wife's car for several weeks now, and it was finally time to take car of it. I really wanted to bring it to my regular mechanic, Imperial Auto, in La Puente, but now that I've moved to Glendale and am staying home with the baby, making the trip out there is a bit of a hassle. So, I checked Yelp for something closer. The first result was Honcura's. It had good reviews, so I decided to give it a try. I called up Stanley to ask if I could bring my car in. From the first words he spoke, I knew I could trust this guy. That's my big problem when bringing my cars to any mechanic other than my usual--I never feel that I can trust them. Another perk about this place is it's close, really close. My wife was home, watching the baby, so I just through my folding bike in the trunk and went down there. At first sight, I could see he was a really nice guy, and again, that I could trust him. What a relief! The prices he quoted me were very good. Two other mechanics said I needed a particular part that was going to cost me $240 for the part alone. Stanley said, "naw, I don't think so. It's probably just the distributor o-ring. I'll change it for $30." Right there, he saved me $210! He gave me an intermediate tune-up, changed the distributor o-ring and replaced an oxygen sensor (the main problem), all in a matter of hours. When picking up the car, we talked for a little about sports, our beat-up and injured bodies and our families, and I felt very comfortable. Probably, if we were the same age and we'd gone to high school together, he'd probably be one of my pals. So, after my first experience there, I already feel completely comfortable and secure in knowing I've got a good place to take my car. Ahhhhh....what a relief it is to leave the shop and not wonder if I just got ripped off. read more

For the past 2 years, I've been going to Stan for my oil changes. He's super nice, but there's really nothing special about an oil change. I did like that he never bombarded me into buying more unnecessary services like most other places (im pointing my finger at you, jiffy lube). However, this last time, I took my car into Honcura to get my brakes looked at.. and this time around I decided it's time for Honcura to get another 5 star review. I work on a car building competition show on SPEED network and am around super knowledgeable auto techs and teams of mechanics and car dudes all day. After I told the lead auto techs on our show about the $260 to get all front and back brakes changed, including an oil change on my Civic, they laughed and were convinced that I was lying -- saying either I got a steal or my mechanic probably did a shoddy job.. Or that I might have gotten stolen parts (hah) and to just take the price and run! Remember, these techs are unbiased and consult for a living (plus we're all buddies now), so they have no reason of exaggerating or lying to me like shops competing for my money. They told me most shops would probably average $400+ to change out all my brake pads. Seeing as how my car has been running the smoothest it's ever been for the past 2 weeks free of squeaks and rattles, Im going to take a shot in the dark and say that Stan is simply the man. Ive been going here for almost 10 years. (Hence for the two stars) It was a small shop back then compared to what it is now. I would say i am (was) a loyal customer since this morning. Even though i live 40 miles away I still go to him because I liked his service. Recently I have noticed Stan became so busy he stopped caring and seems always in a hurry when you asked him a question regarding your car problem. He always says my car is fine. Which i dunno if its a good thing or a bad thing. Good thing in a sense that I don't have to spend to fix something. Bad thing in a sense that I continue driving my car then it breaks down on me while im in the middle of the freeway. Either way its kinda irritating because deep inside i know there is something wrong with my car but i trust the guy to believe him that nothing is wrong not because he inspected my car but just because he told me nothing is wrong. Im not an expert on cars so i guess i have to accept what he says. Thats how much i trusted Stan until this morning. Last week my car was acting up. It stalled on me several times while I was driving with my family. Its been doing that for the past six months but it looks like it had gotten worse so I went to Stan to get it checked out. He started the car and started revving the engine. He told me everything looks fine. I told him its not fine and I want him to fix it. Without really checking the engine or anything He told me he needs to replace a part. I was kinda skeptic but because I trusted him I said okay. He said he was gonna order the part right after we talked and I said I will be back on Sat to get it fixed. When I got there Sat morning he said what part did you need on your car again? I was really irritated but I kept my cool because he said he can still work on my car that day. Mind you. I live 40 miles away. I waited 3 hours and finally he said my car was done. I was happy that finally i would not be worried driving my car. The car drove smoothly going home so I thought everything was okay. I was wrong. Monday i drove my car to work and it stalled 3 times. Then today It stalled again 4 times. I called Stan to tell him what happened. His response to me was really disappointing. He told me that I need to leave the car with him for a day because HE DOES NOT WANT TO GUESS ANYMORE!!! Excuse me? GUESS? are you kidding me? Who told him to guess? I did not want to spend $$ for him to guess. I wanted to say You are a mechanic not a fortune teller. So basically he replaced something that was not broken. I am so disappointed and sad because I considered Stan to be a friend. I did not expect him to say that but he did. I dunno if I would still go back to him after this. Im prolly gonna start looking for a new mechanic around my area. I guess this is what happens when you get famous. You forget about the people who made you famous. read more
