BEWARE - DECEPTION / SCAM ARTISTS. HomeTown Lube in Miami lies and cheats. I called them before I bought the Groupon. They specifically told me on the phone they would honor the Groupon for a synthetic oil change, even though it says "conventional." I arrived in person and again asked them before they began if this coupon would be valid for a synthetic oil change. They lied again and said "dont worry dont worry." After they finished, they came up to me to charge me $111. Bizarre, since even the non-discounted price of synthetic was $98.99 -- and I'm using a coupon for the service! She then pretended to be confused and then came back to ask me to pay $80 on her credit card machine. This is bizarre since the coupon says $44.95. She then argued with me about only applying the Groupon coupon as a VALUE towards their full-priced oil change. She then came back and tried to charge me $60 additional. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL SCAM ARTISTS. Given that their oil change is 60% MORE EXPENSIVE than going to the DEALERSHIP, it is a total rip off. They ended up charging me $100+ for the service in total. I only give reviews to warn others of wasting good time and money and also when exceptional service is served! This is one of those " I have to rate this place with a 5!" It was a rainy day and my car battery gave up on me. I don't have AAA for road side assistance and with the rain, who's gonna help me?! Well, luckily I was close bye to Hometown Lube. I walked up and immediately 2 guys are there & was asked how they could help. Jerry was very helpful and advised the owner. The owner Manny gave me a lift to my car and jumped my car with the wire cables under the rain and all. Of course I drove it straight over there and no lie with in 30 minutes, my car was back to normal with a new battery with 2yrs warranty & at a reasonable price. Now this is not the only time I've had help from the neighborhood auto shop "Hometown Lube" on the way to work, I caught a flat & that same Jerry went out of his way to fix the hole. Called ahead to get hours of operation and inquire if an online voucher may be applied towards synthetic oil change. I was assured the difference will be applied with no issues and to come by. Wife went before me that morning and was informed again that they will allow the online voucher to be applied for the difference of the synthetic oil change. Service was done and voucher honored. I went a couple of hours later and was told the voucher will not be honored. I stated I called ahead and verified it will be. Moreover, my wife came earlier and hers was honored with no problem. They continued that they will not honor the voucher. I was not happy and the gentlemen I was speaking with can tell, but I did not argue. My time was wasted enough and just drove off. Sharing my experience to inform others. This is my second "issue" with this location. No biggie. Just won't come back. Life moves on. read more

This place will rip you off. I bought a Groupon for $20 where you get a standard oil change "up to a $36 value". I arrive and the manager running the shop proceeds to explain that "with the $20 Groupon that I paid I will receive a $20 credit on the $36 cost of a regular oil change". I argue that this makes absolutely no sense. He basically shuts my hood and tells me "that's what it is". The people who working here look shady. I wouldn't trust them with my car. I got a refund on my Groupon and will never go back. MESSAGE RESPONSE TO THE MANAGER'S COMMENT BELOW: The Goupon was not expired. It was a nice attempt to make up for the lack of knowledge of your staff in handing Groupon orders, as well as their lack of professionalism in how they treat their customers. I only wish after reading your reply that I can change my review from one start to zero stars. Unfortunately Yelp does not allow for reviews of less than one star. I usually take my car to the dealership for oil changes but I was really in need of an oil change and the dealership can be an all day affair for anything. I randomly stopped by and was very impressed. The staff and service were very fast. I literally spent about 10 minutes from the time I walked in and back into my car. I can definitely see myself doing my oil changes here from here on out. The one thing that could've been better was upon arrival I was asked to put it on the platform and it wasn't as easy as it seemed. Eventually one of the technicians jumped in the car and did it. Horrible service. Went before to have a one guys (Cuban) to give me amazing service. Thought I go back and get the same service. No WAY. There were two guys there. Asked price. They gave me two prices which ended up higher and higher. None made sense. Both were in a not so want to work at all mood. I thought about it for a minute while I called a friend about rates. Agreed to the price. And then they said. Wellllll. It's kinda late for them to Work on four tires to mount and balance. Which were new tires I brought. All in all. Don't go here. I went today to get an oil change which I paid regular price ($48.00)Right after, I went home and 2 hours later I went to a dentist appt. When I got out, the parking lot of the dentist office was full of oil, and when I tried to turn in my car, smoke started to come out of my car, with a weird smell and the oil change light was on. I obviously turned the car off and had to call a towing company to take my car back home. I'm just waiting for tomorrow to take my car back to this place (obviously paying a second towing service) and hoping for the best. Hopefully my car is not fried after what they did to it. I have been coming to Hometown Lube for over 10yrs. In those years, the staff has changed but the service was always been courteous, fast and honest. The mechanics showed you the old oil filter & oil they changed, they also showed you the oil they were going to put in. Apparently the most recent change in ownership has decided to do things differently. I came in today for an oil change and asked for the same oil I have been putting in my truck by them for the last 3yrs. In addition to having a sticker on my front windshield with the oil grade, I told the cashier I wanted the same Mobil 1(5w30) Synthetic. He confirmed my request. As I watched the tech underneath my truck take the plug out and drain all the oil, I saw the other tech walk over to the 4 barrels of motor oils they have. He pumped from an off label motor oil with a different grade. I told him, that wasnt what I paid for. The tech (visibly upset I said something) told me that's what they have & it's the same thing. I went and showed him it was a different grade and brand than I paid for. I explained to him, I should have been informed of that before they drained the oil out of the motor. The tech got even more upset & started to shout. He went on to tell me, what was he suppose to do if they don't have it. I thought to myself... Then why would you try selling something you don't have or switch products without being truthful? The cashier called the other store to order the right oil. They explained to him where to find the oil at the store I was at. The tech them said he found it and already put it in, but didn't show me they actually put in the correct oil. This oil change experience has left me wondering where the disconnect happen at Hometown Lube?? It is obvious, they no longer give priority to customer satisfaction, respect, honest service, or clear business practices. Needless to say, I won't be returning to this establishment, nor will I recommend it to my friends. I suggest you consider doing same. read more

Awesome service! I come here all the time for the oil changes. But these techs aren't just oil changers. I just learned how come they always seemed to be so profesional and well trained. Their owner, Gilbert, is an ASE Certified Master Mechanic and he owns several lube shops around town. He seems to take a lot of pride in providing the kind of maintenance that prevents the need for costly repairs. My husband's car has 235k miles on it and rarely if ever needs more than maintenance.... and as a lady, I don't feel all the intimidation that I would when I go to other places. Thanks guys!!!
