I went in on NOV 5th for a check engine light and the manger Jorge tried to up sell my on other things the car needed, I told him please the engine light specifically the coolant code. He told me what the car needed was the spark plugs, he charged me $1000. He told me before leaving if the engine lights comes back on it's because he did not clean out the injectors properly and to come back they will check it and take care of it full warranty. When 3 days later a check engine comes back on and I took it back, the other assistant mangers said it's a coolant code I'm going to out coolant fluid if it's a censor we have nothing to do with that. After I picked up my car it started turning off on me ( this had never happened before ) the next day I went in ( today) and Jorge told me there's nothing he could do to go to Porsche because he doesn't have the parts. Now I've lost $1000 plus my car is in a worst condition. Zero customer service they just want to up charge you, don't trust them just because they have the Midas name. read more

This place is one of the worst places to take your car . They will over charge you for everything. I brought my car here once never ever again. They left parts loose and missing bolts . They don't care about the work there doing it's all about overcharging and finishing as quick as possible to do it. This place has changed names and owners so many times it used to be called Payless auto repair now it looks like there paying for the Midas name . My parents are elderly and gullible. They have 2 cars and have been taking had been taken them to a dealership and paying outrageous prices because they thought the people were friendly. After seeing what they were paying I persuaded them to let me take the Car to the Midas on Bird. I went twice to the Midas twice in December and each time Jorge waited on me. The 1st time for a oil/tire rotation. He was booked and squeezed me in. He also provided me an estimate of the other things the car needed. I looked at the prices and they were from 30 - 70% less than what the dealership had been charging my parents i.e. car battery, oil change, break fluid flush and serpentine belt. On both occasions, Midas on Bird did a great job and charged a fair price. Prior to coming to Florida, I spent 16 years taking my cars to Midas in Cedar Falls and Shakopee also with wonderful results. the stores are independent owned Corporate doesnt care if your car gets broken . or if yr you are charged $ 2035. when ur quoted 235. Store in sweet water maimi - not only overcharged but broke my daughters car wanted over 3000 the next day . For something they broke it was a safety issue. also they emptied the fluids . she had put in day before at jiffy lube. corporate does not back up customer even when they said that was a extremely high price . could care less they broke car in unsafe manner . hopeful no one gets hurt or an accident. read more

UPDATE - 02/04/2021 - New Management James Rubio calls me 8.15am and started by saying Thank you for the "nice" review and what I thought was going to be a professional conversation on how to resolve the complaint but that was the extent of that and then right after called me a racist for saying that the TV was at full blast in Spanish... FYI: my first language is Spanish; hence my first name. please look closer, it is Jose. it could have been in Chinese or French or any other language - that was not the point - it's a place of business and you as the manager should make sure that the environment is neutral and comfortable for all your customers especially the customer waiting area and how can anyone communicate with the volume that high on a TV that's a few feet away from the counter and separated by plexiglass window? anyways, I hung up the phone. His condescending tone and his lack of professionalism especially in this digital age is truly telling. If that was your attempt at resolving this issue, please do not bother wasting my time. James is the complete opposite is what Mitch was! -my previous history was on file and he said that Mitch charged me incorrectly and put the wrong oil and that I'm lucky my car still works. he was clearly upset. told me the car needed synthetic oil and and that the front tires were bad and needed replacement immediately and tried to sell me tires too which I declined because I can get them cheaper and asked how much he charged for new tires install and told me that it was $120++ which is the most I have heard of -the waiting area was messy and dirty and the TV was on with the volume at full blast in Spanish -the oil change took less than 15 minutes to complete which I'm sure did not include the multi-point courtesy check, battery check, visual check on brakes and fluids top-off were not done. I checked the engine bay and there were several oil stains on the engine cover. very disappointing level of car care! -I was charged $60 for the oil change + disposal fee + oil filter separately + $28 labor fee and then was discounted $30 of which none was disclosed ahead of time and when I wanted to use an online coupon he got rude and said well I gave you a better discount but i can remove that discount and you the lesser one very sarcastic tone. It was unnecessary -after the payment was tendered, he said that now the car is good for another 6k miles or 6 months and that my front tires has another 10k miles left on it! in less than 15 miles, the car which has 17.5k miles was going to break down because of the wrong oil and the front tires are really in bad shape to now the car is good and the tires are fine for another 10k! - I submitted a formal complaint to Midas Corporate but from what I have read online including bbb.org - these locations are franchised and independently owned so disputes are handled at the location in question and at the discretion of the owner of that particular store. so basically the customer - meaning "you" and "me" have the power to collectively let everyone know what the real truth is about places like these really are so if you are thinking about bring you car here - DO NOT! thank me later! I explained the car issue and within 20 minutes I received a call from James with an explanation of what the problem was. It only took an about hour after that for the car to be repaired.
