My friend and I tried this place after our morning workout. There was plenty of parking and easy to get to. We went around 10am. We were sat within two minutes of entering the restaurant. Our waiter was Carlito and he was not the friendliest. He came to the table with two waters, which we really appreciated. However, he didn't introduce himself, ask us how our day was, or if we'd dined there before. When I asked for lemons, he gave the vibe as if I was bothering him. When I ordered my coffee I specifically asked for a decaf drip coffee several times. He brought me regular coffee. He did apologize and fixed it after I had drank half of it. I would ask for another waiter next time. Aside from our waiter, the food came out fast after ordering and it was fresh and hot. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my friend ordered the breakfast tacos with hash browns. The chicken was lightly battered and seasoned well. The waffles were lacking flavor. The waffles could have used some vanilla extract flavoring in the batter. My friend enjoyed her dish and didn't have any complaints. The menu items were reasonably priced and the options were versatile. Overall I'd return and look forward to trying new dishes. Afterwards you can take a walk and view shops in the area. This would have been a 4 star but the device and surprise charges bright then down. We walked in around 1:45 on a Sunday afternoon. There was a 20 minute wait so we put our name/number down. We walked around and we got a text much sooner than that. We were seated and the waiter came with waters but took a bit for him to come back for orders. I saw in the website they were having half off margs for national Margaret's day but no mention in the restaurant, signs, menus so I asked and confirmed. I ordered chilaquiles verde but since I don't eat pork I asked to sub brisket. There was another item on the menu which gave the option of carnitas or brisket so I assumed this would be fine. He said ok and make no mention of an up charge. I also ordered a skinny marg. My friend go the homestead breakfast and beignets. The beignets (and churros) came out first. I set one to the side. I had it after my meal and it was really good especially with the chocolate and caramel sauce but had waaaay too much powder sugar. When I got my order it was delicious and I asked for a side of jalepenos. We finished our food, got a box and waited about 20 minutes for our waiter to return for the bill. I was surprised to see a $4 charge for the brisket and $2 for the jalepenos. There was no mention of a charge for either and as another item allowed for selection of meat I assumed it was an even sub. Not a huge cost or big deal but $2 for a table spoon of jalepenos is absurd. And not disclosing the cost at time of ordering is poor service on top of poor service. Bathrooms were clean. I was very glad we just got one sweet and one savoury dish to share for two people as we couldn't finish all of the food. The French toast was a smaller portion size, but the omelet was huge and filled with brisket, peppers, and onions with a huge hash brown side. The pico and guac that came with it were very good. We both enjoyed these two dishes and thought they were very tasty. It was $50 in total, which seemed a bit on the pricier side for brunch in Houston. Our server was kind of strange and ended up forgetting when we asked for a takeout box, which is understandable, but he just had an uncomfortable demeanour that made me feel awkward. Came here today for brunch at Homestead Kitchen & Bar and oh boy, did it hit the spot! I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and it definitely lived up to the hype. We decided to do a little mix-and-match with the sides to curate our own version of the classic breakfast. Ended up with 2 scrambled eggs, 3 sunny side up eggs, hash browns, bacon (extra crispy, just how I like it), breakfast sausage, and a single buttermilk pancake. Every bite was on point--the eggs were cooked to perfection, the hash browns had that perfect crisp, and the pancake was chef's kiss... the perfect sweet treat to round it all out. Went for brunch with my sister on a Saturday around 1pm. The place was packed and super noisy. 26 min wait for a table which wasn't too bad since the place was so busy. Seems to slow down around 2-3pm. I started off ordering a horchata cocktail which I sent back because it was too sweet and didn't not taste like horchata. Tasted like a vanilla milkshake with cinnamon on top. The pancake flight was decent. The pita colada was the best, then the chocolate, and the blueberry as just ok. They got the order wrong and gave us two blueberry pancakes at first. I ordered the tex mex eggs Benedict which was really good.. 4/5. The reason for a 3 is because the service was HORRIBLE. By far, the worst service I've had in a while. Even when the place slowed down the service was horrible. The waiter even passed by several times after we got our food and didn't check on us. The staff is always so kind and helpful and the facility is quite clean from what we have access to! Our go-to meal is the Chilaquiles Verde $18. The fried corn tortillas, spicy salsa verde with the two sunny side up eggs are beyond what my palate can express at the moment. It is topped off with cream Fresca, queso fresco, cilantro and a gracious serving of their slow-cooked carnitas. The serving is worth sharing but I don't recommend it. However, one dish that's disappointing has been the Southern Fried Chicken. It's smart to pair it with their Chipotle Aioli because it carries the chicken more than it should. To start they do not take reservations and fill up super early. I called ahead and they told me it would be an hour wait for a party of 6 and it was an hour when we got there. The Shrimp and Grits were so flavorful, though mine came out with a hair in it. The shrimp were huge. The syrup is drinkable!!! I'm not sure if it's made in house or not. We stumbled upon Homestead while out exploring the area Saturday evening and looking for somewhere for few light bites and beverages. Homestead is located on the park side, so you have to walk down the corridor next to RayBan to get to it (you won't see it from the parking lots). The restaurant wasn't very busy for 7pm on a Saturday, but after reviewing their menu, it was obvious they are a go-to brunch spot as everything on their menu looked amazing! We sat on their large open patio to the walkway/park area. Fans kept it cool and lighting was generous. Service was alittle slow, but our waiter was definitely hustling to juggle all the outdoor tables solo. Their alcohol beverage options were decent. Nothing extravagant, but my glass of rosé was great and my husband went for his typical IPA beer selection. We ordered a regular sized chips and queso, which was absolutely delicious and plenty for 2-3 ppl! (I was skeptical at first since it wasn't a Mexican restaurant and I'm a queso fanatic, but their queso was one of the better ones in town!) We followed that with a bowl of ck and sausage gumbo. The roux was very dark and had the Cajun 'burned' flavor, which my husband loved, but I wasn't as big of a fan of. There's indoor and outdoor seating and we were seated near the window which was nice because the decor inside is rather dark. I ordered the chilaquiles which had a sunny side up egg, cream Fresca, carnitas, and salsa verde. I enjoyed the taste and it was a generous portion size. I actually could not finish it. As you can see, I was eager to dive in when it first arrived so I didn't get to take a picture of the before. I also got the frose which was not my favorite. It wasn't bad but I preferred my partners drink which was much sweeter. One thing I enjoyed about Homestead was the menu options. There was all day breakfast and there's just so much to choose from.
