Five stars people. Here is my story. For over a year I did my best to battle ants in our 2700 sf Fullerton home - on my own. They would show up downstairs, upstairs, in closets, in the kitchen, in the bathroom. Craziness! I used Terro ant bait everywhere. I must have gone through 16 of those little bottles of clear gel during several months "Use Terro.. my friends said, you'll never see ants again!" I was already using the stuff - lots of it. Sure enough, ants would circle the bait as if it was laced with cocaine. I would see no more ants after a day or two. But then a few weeks later they were back. I did my best to locate where they were entering the house (when a trail formed) and I would immediately caulk up the cracks (inside and out) - also placing ant bait at the site of exit and entry. I did this religiously for a year. Nothing worked permanently. I discovered the ants were coming from three major nests out in the yard on each side of my house. Massive trails of ants would traverse the property. I poured boiling water down the holes of the nests. I sprayed your standard Lowes/Home Depot bug and ant killer all over the place. It was all out war. Everything I did helped for a few weeks and then the ants were back. After a year of this my wife suggested I call a pest company. I looked through the reviews on Yelp and called HomeSheild. AFTER.ONE.SPRAYING..... I have not seen a single ant in my house or yard. The change was so dramatic I was sorry I didn't call a year earlier. We've stuck to their (visit once every two months) spraying schedule and have had no pests. I was very disappointed with my experience using Homeshield. They seem to operate their business to what is convenient for THEM, not for the customer. As far as a service company, they failed me in a big way. I won't ever call these people again. Edit 1/2/24: One of the things I was upset about was being billed for the full amount of the contract before they had completed the job. This was almost a month ago. I called several companies to get an estimate on resolving a rodent issue. When Carlos came to do the inspection he was very courteous and professional, and took the time to explain what he discovered including reviewing pictures of the problems. He presented the appropriate remedies, gave me very straightforward pricing (which was about 1/4 of the ther quotes) and explained that if we decided to accept the quote, he would start the treatment that day (he placed traps in the attic). We accepted and the main service was scheduled for about a week later. When that day came, their technician Ruben was at my house at 8AM ready to begin. I was very impressed with the entire process. This review is for the termite inspection performed by Luis at my house this morning. He was on time, friendly, very thorough and knowledgeable and unfortunately, he did find evidence of drywood termites within about 60 seconds of entering our house. The real kicker is that we had just had our home "inspected" by our previous peat control company in August and they said everything was fine (they didn't even come inside!). The previous company had also tented/fumigated our house in April 2021 yet Luis found what he described as mature colonies that would have had to show up immediately after our fumigation, assuming it was done correctly. Homeshield to the rescue though. They got us scheduled for the exact dates we asked for and their price was reasonable. Five months ago we started using HomeShield for termite and pest control. After the first round my garage was covered in expired spiders and crickets. I have been using HomeShield to control spiders, ants, termites and crickets. I have a tree wrapping around my porch, and since they suggested spot treatment for termites I didn't have to cut it down to tent. They give two hour windows for appointments, and have only been late once. The technicians always wear masks, act appropriately, and grab a ladder to spray parts of my roof when I happen to notice ant trails. The technicians never appear rushed, and always take the time to walk around with me and discuss what I've been finding. They deweb the house every visit (though I'm a little surprised we still need to) and always take care of business. I like that they offer an extra service between paid services (q3 months) for keeping the yard under control. I had to call them for an extra visit when I started noticing silverfish bugs around the house. Usually I only have the perimeters sprayed. They didn't mind addressing a different issue or part of the house. I'm glad I went with HomeShield. I had made several calls to other business prior to addressing termites after buying my new home. The other companies had longer wait times, had difficulty following basic directions, and larger visit windows. Only HomeShield verbalized being able to offer a written pest control plan within 2 days and I got it initially on the spot. read more
