Bad business practices, low-quality food. Pricing online is NOT what they charge you. They will charge you more than what the menu pricing indicates. When you call to ask to place an order for pickup, ask for the price as it'll be much higher than the menu pricing online. I found I was also charged for items that the menu did not specify there would be an additional charge. I didn't want any cheese on my omelet, they put Kraft singles on it anyway. I called them afterwards to raise these concerns and the manager Luis was combative and not helpful, so I told him I would be leaving a review. Bad business practices, low-quality food. Lack of transparency here with a certain server, she never informed me that there would be an extra charge for a minute item such as lemons. When I told her we've never been charged for lemons in the past her rude tone "well from now on you will be" & she walked away. This place wants to upcharge for any & everything they can. I asked to substitute a vegetable for a vegetable & she stated there would be an charge, most of the other places I've dined at do not charge extra for equal like items. Though outside won't give you the awe-factor appearance nor will the inside decor, but everything else will. The restaurant staff's service and friendliness is always 100%. Also, for being post COVID pandemic their prices are very excellent compared to neighboring breakfast places. This is my third time back and today it's for Father's Day. Of all the places we can drive to, my dad really loves them! He raves about their hash browns: perfectly crunchy yet soft in the right places. I've had a few items at this point and everything always tastes great. They're very popular so there seems to always be a wait in my every visit. The smaller parties get seated quicker like any place. Very family friendly: from the very young to the very old (who use a cane). The bathroom isn't wheelchair accessible from a glance today. If this is not a factor for you or for your party, Homer's Cafe is definitely worth a visit! read more

Small breakfast /lunch place. Reasonably priced. Basic menu items. Everything's cooked to order so if you're in a rush this might not be your place. My regular order is ham & cheese omelette. #14/2022 Well it's really two and a half stars but I'm giving the benefit of the three. This place has been in the shopping plaza for a long time this is the first time I've ever come down for breakfast and I was not very impressed. There was really nothing that stood out. I walked in I sat down ordered up some coffee I saw that they had Xfinity Wi-Fi tried to log on to it said you needed a code. I asked a waitress for it and she said oh it's a very long one and I don't know what it is I'll try to get the cook to get it to me. Well that never happened the whole time she was kind of aloof about the whole thing but it is what it is. I ordered a traditional eggs benedict with hash browns. The eggs were nicely poached the Hollandaise sauce was standard good the hash browns or a little on the greasy side but they were okay too but nothing to really rave about. This is a small storefront classic strip mall not big at all very quaint but when you open the door it does bring in a draft many people had their jackets on. It definitely gears towards locals for the most part but I have a usual place I prefer when I'm home but it was a little crowded on the Saturday morning so I opted to have someplace else and I thought I'd try this place had been here I don't know close to 10 years maybe or so. Only open in the mornings like many places strictly for breakfast into early lunch and close by 2:00 p.m.. But all in all first impressions it's just small Cafe with decent food but nothing that really stands out but I gave it the three stars instead of two and a half. Will I return? It's nothing I would make a point to say oh boy I can't wait to come down here and go eat again but if I end up here then I do but it wouldn't be one of my top choices got to be honest. read more

Covid Alert. Nice selection. Picked the Santa Fe Benedict, add tomato. The dish was $9.25 and they charged me $.75 for two slices of tomato. Asked if I could sub a little pancake for the potato options; no dice. (There was only one other table so not like they were too busy.) I'd rather spend my carbs on a pancake but ok. Food was fine. Filling. House fried potatoes crisp with a little good bacon in them. Sign on entry says masks required but server wasn't wearing one, then an old guy came in without one and despite there only being 1 other table with people in the place, sat RIGHT NEXT TO ME so I moved away (and I just heard him cough.) Server was very nice. Glad I tried it, convenient to where I was but just ok . Probably wouldn't come back, at least until #DeltaVariant is quashed. read more

This place is a secret little gem in Homer Glen. It's small but packs a fresh homemade punch. The food is delicious. I have not had a bad meal here. They have these home fries that are amazing. The pancakes are like my Mom's: Fluffy and amazing. The breakfast wrap is by far my favorite dish. The servers are friendly and accommodating. The coffee is always fresh and hot. Homer cafe is a smaller breakfast place in homer Glen.  It is a tables only place with a modern American look. The coffee was good and really hot.  The sweetener and creamers were prepackaged which was a shame.  This place could really sell the coffee as a premium.  It was the best if not second best part of my meal.  The staff was warm and welcoming  The country breakfast was cooked from scratch.  The biscuits were ok but I would argue against some of the other yelp reviews with them being great. They were fairly small biscuits.  The eggs were cooked over easy and were the best part of the breakfast.  The sausage patties were the standard preformed bluk purchased patties, ok but nothing to write homer about. read more

Place is nasty. Filthy dirty...from facility to employees. Then there is the food. Everything is processed and not made in house. Had a basic breakfast w scrambled eggs bacon and toast and the eggs were over cooked, bacon undercooked and at least they got the toast right. This cafe is a hidden gem right in Homer Glen. They are under new management and I can already see the difference. They have expanded their menu dramatically. They're now open till 8:00pm and serve some of the best deli sandwiches I've ever had. Their pastrami and corned beef sandwiches are delicious, I couldn't believe that I actually was able to finish the huge sandwich they served then I ordered one to take home for a midnight snack (ya, that's how I roll). They're staff is sooo nice and make you feel at home. I'm making this my new breakfast/brunch place to come to from now on. read more

Homer's and my family got off to a rocky start when they first opened. I guess I could have lived with the little annoyances that cropped up during our three vists, because I wanted to see the small business owner succeed in a world of chains, or bigger places. It was just one thing after another, though, and the family members said no more. On Christmas Day, 2011, I decided to stop in when I saw they were open. At the time they were about half filled. I was seated promptly, given time to make a decision and my breakfast was served quickly, and I was in no hurry. Things couldn't have gone better. The ham with cheese omelette was hot and tasty, the hash browns were cooked and warm thru out and the service was friendly and attentive. So I went back on New Years Day and received the same treatment and another good meal. Since things were a bit slow that early, my server approached and we had a short conversation about reading material. I know some diners don't care to know or be spoken to by their server. I don't understand that. It's nice to know that I no longer have to drive 27 miles to Aunt Sally's in Calumet City or up to Ogden Avenue in Westmont to the Moondance Diner for a righteous breakfast. The food was OK but nothing out if this world (apart from quantity, which was a lot); very home-made style and flavor. The restaurant seemed clean, but I didn't reach farther than my own table, because we were in a rush. Service could improve a lot; our server was a non so friendly lady, who, lets say... Didn't smile a lot. We ordered OJ, because acording to the price, we expected fresly squeezed... It wasn't but a pasteurized supermarket one. That was the only really disappointing fact.
