The crepe on weekly special was perfect size for me to enjoy another dish, their new smoked carrots... wooooow!!! I usually sit at the bar... Roo, Lynda, Jilian, everyone is wonderful... like eating at your BFFs house so can't say better than that for service. You can come in with your company group, family, or by yourself and you'll be sure to enjoy a friendly smile giggle or chat with someone. Disclaimer: I won't even pretend I know what I am talking about. Take this review with two grains of salt, and add one of them to the food. I had the opportunity to try the Pork Belly 'little snacks', Oysters Rockefeller, Smoked Prime Rib (Fri/Sat Special), as well as the Raspberry No-hito (non-alc) and the Smoked Old Fashioned. The Oysters Rockefeller were phenomenal. While I typically take my oysters raw, I am glad I ventured out of my comfort zone on this one. While the oysters themselves were a little on the smaller side, the sauce was savory, creamy, and all around excellent. I also love how they were baked in their wood-fired over, bestowing not only delectable browning, but also a little bit of smoke (this will be a common theme, just you wait!). One word of caution: the bed of salt makes it easy for a few extra sprinkles to make it into the oyster, making it considerably salty. Next come the Pork Belly snacks. These were cooked perfectly, with the meat tender and the fat rendered ideally. They weren't completely melt-in-your-mouth, but this isn't a complaint. I believe these too were cooked in the over or over the fire, as opposed to whatever preparation makes pork belly so soft it might as well melt in a pan. Also enjoyable was the Red Pepper Jelly. I was expecting something similar to the jarred stuff I have in the fridge, but was instead pleasantly surprised with a lightly sweet and hot, seemingly house-made pepper jelly. Before continuing, I have to once again admit that I can't speak authoritatively, and make no claim that my thoughts originate in the mind of greatness. The Smoked Prime Rib is where I must be less of a raving fan. I want to give credit where credit is due: this is a big, honking piece of meat! I also want to recognize that it is just about the smokiest steak I've ever had, similar to a top-notch BBQ joint. With the help of the smoke, I cannot deny it was a tasty piece of meat! However, I have three complaints. First, I requested it medium-rare; this felt like something between a medium-rare and a medium. Second, the jury is still out on the fat content. The marbling did not feel incredible, and the very large bits of untrimmed fat felt unnecessary in my opinion. Finally, there is the matter of seasoning, as the steak felt under-salted. Given that the horseradish sauce gave the opportunity to add a new dimension of flavor, but salt is the magic that helps elevate everything. This dish also came with Brussels sprouts and smashed potatoes. The potatoes were cooked and seasoned well. The sprouts, however, fell short of the mark for me. For them to go from good to great would need a little more fat and salt. Good news is that there is plenty more food to go around! The drinks, the service, and the vibe. For beverages, I ordered a Raspberry No-jito (non-alcoholic) and a Smoked Old Fashioned. The No-jito was done very well; it was minty, refreshing, a little tart, and not overpoweringly sweet. The Old Fashioned was hands-down phenomenal. Not only was the use of smoke great to add smoothness, but the quality of ingredients and their balance were all top-notch. The kind of drink that takes me back to the decade ago when I reached drinking age and fell in love with Old Fashioneds. Next, we have the service. The bar-servers were all extremely welcoming, attentive, professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Points also for the manager/owner checking in to see how I was going and if I was happy with everything. Mega points for all the food coming out quickly and with appropriate timing. Real talk: having eaten at Smyth, while their team is great, they could learn a thing or two from the service team here. Regarding the vibe, which is modern and upscale without being stuffy. The kind of spot where I'd love to spend a few hours with friends, a date, or alone. While the prices are a little on the high side, given the price of everything, and especially beef, I think the value is on the high side of fair. Final verdict: The Phoenix Kitchen delivers excellence with their staff, vibe, drinks, and most of their food. While the steak fell a little short for me, this could be a one-time fluke, or a matter of preference and/or ignorance. While Homer Glen is a bit out of the way, and this isn't *quite* a destination, I'd happily return, and give it my recommendation. read more

Food was ok. Service was slow for having such punctual requests for reservations. Seasonal food and drinks were meh. Seasonal lemon rigatoni lacked.....LEMON. It did not taste like lemon. We did not take home our leftovers, my wife had manicotti's. The manicotti was better than the lemon poser rigatoni dish. The cauliflower app was good but the sauce and toppings must have cost a lot or something to make bet it was basically deep fried and very very lightly drizzled. We ordered our appetizer drinks and meal all at the same time. Thank the lord we did cause I don't think we would have seen our server much anyways. Our server was nice as all the servers were when we saw them. The prices were as expected. It is a nice restaurant. Families were there couples, a nice mix of people for the restaurant I would go again but I was not really impressed. If I was being asked on a second date i definitely would have to play hard to get if this was the destination. It did not live up to the hype for me. We went to Phoenix Kitchen for date night last night. This was our second time dining here. Phoenix Kitchen describes themselves as a modern upscale casual dining experience, serving locally sourced new American cuisine. Erica took great care of us this evening. She was so sweet, service with a smile. We started with a couple of their handcrafted cocktails. Hubby had tonight's special drink, a Gold Rush. I had the sister to a Gold Rush, a Bees Knees. It's just a matter of bourbon vs gin. Both are refreshing cocktails made with honey and lemon. We shared the Spanish octopus to begin, a perfectly grilled octopus tentacle in a romesco sauce topped with pico de gallo and toasted almonds. We thoroughly enjoyed it. A generous portion and so tender. Hubby had the Saturday night special, the smoked prime rib. It came with grilled vegetables and truffle fries. He had this speciality last time. This time it was so fatty (see photo). I had the grouper puttanesca with couscous. I love grouper but I felt it was salty. With capers and anchovy, the fish didn't need salt as these things bring salt to the dish. However, our entrees were generous in size and tasty. We definitely like this restaurant. They have a loyalty program, plenty of seating inside and out, a nice bar area and a Vegas-style gaming room. Phoenix Kitchen even nixed using seed oil at their restaurant. Phoenix Kitchen is a modern upscale restaurant with a spacious outdoor patio. We ordered an appetizer the lamb meatballs they were seasoned well and moist. For dinner we chose the 14 oz rib eye, and a cheeseburger with fries. The ribeye and the cheeseburger were seasoned well and the temperature cook was just as we requested medium. Our wait staff was friendly and attentive. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake and it was delicious - so decadent I videotaped the plate - check it out in the pictures below. Overall, this restaurant gets a four out of five across-the-board. For two people dining in, with an appetizer, main course and a shared dessert it was $115 before tax. They have a bar with lots of mixed cocktails to choose from and their wine list is solid. This is a great place for a date night or girls night! read more

The manager Lynda is amazing, she's always walking around talking to people and making you feel like you have known each other forever. Every server has been top notch. Reading reviews on other sites, I was anxiously awaiting dinner at The Phoenix. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming. Greeted as you entered. Our table immediately ready. Our server, Erica, was excellent and friendly. She knew the menu well with good suggestions. Thanked for your patronage as you left by the owner. I had a Ube Colata which was very good. Others had lemon drop martinis, assorted beers, and a non-alcoholic drink. The non-alcoholic drink was remade when too sweet. Great! We had Burrata and Prosciutto and Crispy Cauliflower as appetizers. I had B & P at another restaurant earlier in the week which I liked better. The Phoenix was swimming in olive oil with the burrata covering the prosciutto. The presentation wasn't as fresh appearing as what I had earlier in the week and not as tasty. The cauliflower was breaded and seemed a bit greasy. My entree was the hot honey chicken which was very hot. A chicken breast butterflied and breaded, coated in hot honey. Whew! A little too hot for me. The roasted potatoes were deliciously seasoned. The cole slaw was unremarkable. Others at the table had rigatoni, filet, and chopped salad with chicken. All thought their entrees were good. Portions were all very generous. I would have liked to have brought a dessert home to try, but didn't. Would I go back again? I really can't say. Maybe it was the entree I ordered being so incredibly hot I really couldn't eat. If you peeled back the breading, the chicken was very tender and moist though. For me, it might have been better on a bun with shredded lettuce to cut the heat. I'll never know. I sent it home with a fellow dinner. Can't do a 3.8. Must do 4 stars. Awful experience. Drinks are overpriced and small. Martinis are served in small stem glass shaped like a margarita glass. $16 for a Martini is ridiculous when they are so small. This is Homer Glen not downtown Chicago. Had a burger special and was charged $1.00 for the cheese. The worst was asking for mustard and charged .25 cents extra for it! Won't be back. Overpriced overall for what they serve. And drinks are the worst. Frankies in Tinley Park is much better! Ambience, food and drinks are great. Had a double date night with friends and we loved this place. The ambiance's is cozy and romantic and is dimly lit is some places. The food was amazing. We ordered the bread appetizer and I highly recommend this. It comes in a cast iron skillet and with a butter candle. As the candle melts this rosemary flavored aroma fills the air and you can dip the bread it is buttery goodness. The staff were professional and so friendly. I highly recommend making reservations. We were here on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy. If you want you can always snag a seat at the bar. Finally got around to giving this place a try after going by it a lot. Very nice inside. Well lit. We were seated right away by the hostess and our waiter was on us like a flash getting us our drinks. Very friendly waiter who took his time with us asking about nut allergies and how well we take to spicy. Really appreciate that. (Current medication I cant do spicy) French onion soup to start with was ok. They definitely try to do something different with it that I definitely appreciate, but I just wasnt a huge fan. We shared the prosciutto dates which were very tasty. Definitely recommend those. The Four Cheese Flatbread was also ok. Very very dry texture with not much sauce. The manicotti on the other hand was very tasty. Both of is agreed it was worth coming back for that alone. Overall while I was discouraged by the Flatbread and Soup we'd go back. A friend of mine and I went on St. Patricks day. The menu has a lot of good stuff on it. Ordered the pork chop - which was really good. We had a wonderful meal. The reason I'm only giving a 3 is because the restaurant was pretty busy and our dinner (which we dined leisurely) took 90 minutes. As we were finishing up our drinks one of the employees came by and asked us if we had a good meal and we replied yes, everything was very good. Then she said she'd offer us a seat at the bar but there wasn't any. And then turned around and left. My friend looked at me and said " did they just ask us to leave?" I said well it sounded like it. The more I thought about it the more annoyed she and I got. I've NEVER had this happen to me. Usually I'm well aware of the time I spend at the table - knowing they were busy so I'm not an entitled diner. But this was pretty bold. read more

We went to The Phoenix Kitchen for the first time after driving by it for a few years. IT WAS AMAZING! First, the food and drinks were great. The smoked old fashion was one of the best I've had, and my wife raved about the martini's. We ordered the squid appetizer, also amazing. Our entrees were the filet and ribeye, both amazing. What put this restaurant to our new favorite was the service. Our first time here and will no doubt not be our last! Everything was above and beyond- food quality, service, ambiance, attention to detail. We started with oysters Rockefeller for an appetizer and it was one of the best I've had anywhere, including high end seafood specific places. My wife had Walleye etuffe for her dinner and loved it. I had a rigatoni dish with added sausage that was 10/10. Our server was very attentive and informative. The ambiance is relaxed with mellow lighting and upbeat music played at the perfect volume. Amazing food in the suburbs is usually hard to find, so I was a bit skeptical that it would live to my brother's praise. That, and we didn't really have elsewhere to go haha. We drove the 20min to Homer Glen, and my brother remarked it was unusually empty - which worked for us since we didn't have to wait. We were immediately seated and placed our order. The brother got a smoked old fashioned - and wow! It had immediate visual (and olfactory) appeal! I've only seen that in fancy cocktail bars so I was already impressed. The table then got the saganaki - which is basically cheese on fire. It was delicious as melted cheese was though maybe not the healthiest thing with it just being straight cheese. I was going to get the pork tenderloin, but my brother recommended the Phoenix Burger - and I'm kind of a fiend for burgers though I also get worried when burgers are above $13 as it can be a real bummer if it misses the mark. My mother got the salmon, and my other brother got the daily special which were tacos. Amaaaazzing!! The burger was super super good. Like, the difference between a $18 burger and one from McDonald's (I like those too, but they're not $18) - is especially the quality of meat. Not greasy, not overground, tasty - the patty was really one of the best I've had (there's a 5* hotel in Bali that also does really well, but it's also in Bali) - and I love that there were an almost ridiculous amount of fries. Superb choice :) My mom liked her salmon, and the brother liked the tacos - we didn't share so I can't really comment. Had a great meal! We were able to get a table for 3 without a reservation on a Friday evening. The menu is not huge but still offers a nice variety with a little bit of everything. I shared a salad which was was pretty standard and nothing special. They do not really have the standard dressing options but they all seem to be made in house. I had the salmon for my entree and it was good, cooked well and had a nice flavor with rice and pico as an accompaniment. My friends had the papardelle (just okay, kind of sweet?) and the manicotti which was very good- nice and cheesy and served piping hot in a skillet. Overall the service was okay and the atmosphere was nice. I will say the music was really loud and totally did not match the vibe of the restaurant so that was a little strange but I would definitely go back and try more dishes! read more

our first time at phoenix kitchen was fantastic! we booked a reservation on open table for patio seating on a saturday at 7:30pm. when we arrived it wasn't too busy and we were seated immediately. the patio was so nice, with lush landscaping and a couple really nice fountains. the road noise was blocked out pretty well by the hedge wall as well as the sound of the fountains. our waitress was great, prompt with good timing and attentiveness without being too pushy. my husband's cosmopolitan was good, my strawberry no-jito mocktail was fantastic. the melon burrata summer special was a bit funky but we appreciate the creativity. the phoenix burger was absolutely fantastic and it was totally worth the $4 to upgrade from regular fries to truffle fries. my husband's branzino was delicious and the portion was huge. the cannoli cheesecake was also delicious! read more

A friend knew someone who works there so we went to pay a visit. It was far for us so I was hoping it was worth it!. They have the old tyme drinks with herbs, edible flowers and such. If you are into that kind of thing it could be worth it. There were four of us and the food is served with sharing capabilities. We ordered something for everyone which of course made a hefty bill. The best thing we ordered was the salmon. I would do that dish by myself! I passed on the spicy lettuce wraps but they seemed to enjoy them. The oysters were so-so not much flavor. We also did a flatbread and added meat which was an option and that was good. The brussel sprouts were pretty good, could have used more of those. The desserts looked promising but the bill was creeping up on us with all the fancy drinks. We ate at the bar and the bartenders were friendly. They knew the menu and were able to answer questions. The bathroom was clean as well as the restaurant. The parking lot was large but on a good night it may be tough to park. I usually don't write negative reviews but unfortunately this place deserves it. We waited 15 minutes for a server and water once we were seated, I actually had to ask the bus boy if we had a waiter and he replied "I'm not sure". We ordered 3 appetizers all were over cooked. One friend got the Mahi Mahi and it had to be sent back because it was so over cooked it was like chewing cotton. I ordered the $46 filet mignon which was horrible. The quality of the meat isn't up to par compared to other upscale restaurants in the city and even in the suburbs (Gibbons, Tall Grass). The filet actually reminded me of a piece of sirloin. I doubt they cooked it in a cast iron as their was no crust. It came with mashed potatoes which tasted boxed with no flavor. Went to this restaurant tonight to kind of celebrate my grandson's birthday, which was a few days ago started out with a bowl of French onion soup which was terrific. They served up different fried vegetables as appetizers and everybody loved them. My grandson had a flatbread which she loved with some crispy potatoes. My wife and I also had those crispy potatoes they were wonderful and we had flounder which was very good. It came with sautéed spinach and we ordered an order of those crispy potatoes as well. My other grandson had a salad which he loved, and everything was terrific, including the birthday dessert that we all kind of share, which was a big piece of a cinnamon cake and we had some ice cream and a banana cream pie. I had a cup of coffee, which was wonderful so this is an easy five star restaurant management came by three times to see if we were enjoying ourselves. The bathrooms are spotless.
