When it came, it was dang near clear, so I knew that would be my only sip for the evening and some water. lol We ordered starters/apps: Chicken Wings and Cheese Curds. Simple, tasty, hot and the service was SWIFT BABY SWIFT! Entree: I ordered Fish tacos. I had my fingers and toes crossed hoping they were going to be amazing. No sir, no ma'am. Flavorless. They looked great though. I ate half of one and gave to my sib for take home bites. I blame me, I should have ordered something safe, like a burger or something easy peasy. Sis ordered a Patty Melt with fries. Looked good, she stated it tasted amazing. Winner, winner, burger dinner! Bro order a couple things: Chicken Tenders and fries and a Quesadilla. Had lunch here with friends. Not real busy. But only one server working. We ordered drinks and then ordered food. I ordered fish tacos. My friends had Bratwurst sandwich and a burger. The fish tacos do not come with any kind of side. They were $15.00 for 3. Not very big. The burger came with fries. Don't recall about the bratwurst. We requested water and when we wanted another round of drinks it took awhile. Server was not in sight to handle request. She was pleasant just not accessible. Food was just ok. Negative zeros.... Last time for sure past Saturday. DONE!!!! Flies still flying around your face. Mens restroom was a hazmat scene at best. There was some kind of backup issue in the past 12 hours and the back end of the place smelled like an outhouse. The area near mens room was blocked off for a private event and I dont even know how those poor people could eat in that area with the smell. On the patio people brought in 2 great dane dogs that were the size of small horses and how is that normal for outside dining anywhere, and people were leaving. Stumbled upon this nice pub style tap house. They had several beers on tap wings and burgers too. The service was a step above most, the manager even stopped by to talk to us about an upcoming event they were having. Our server was very attentive and helpful. I came out to Hillgrove Tap in Tinley for a family party hosted by my brother. They offer a back private room that could seat about 25 people but more comfortable seat about 20. Ashley handled our party and she was hustling to get our group drinks, clear empty plates/glasses, ensure food was set out in a timely fashioned, and going above and beyond to connect with the kids. The food selected was the fruit tray, guacamole and chips, caesar salad, meatballs, and cheeseburger sliders. The presentation of all food was well done and I loved that they brought out the sliders in shifts to ensure they were fresh and warm. Everyone raved about how good the food was and I strongly agree! Why not a 5/5 review? I personally ordered a specialty drink which I later found out they were out of. I then asked for a Captain Morgan and Diet which they were also out of. I thought this was strange for a Saturday evening. Additionally, our server was also waiting on tables in the general dining room. I think the chefs should pay attention to what they are serving. The person I was with and myself ordered the BLT sandwich. She asked for it to be crispy bacon, I did not. That did not mean I wanted it an eighth inch of pure fat put on a piece of bread with mayo and lettuce. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she simply said oh sorry. First time coming here for lunch in Tinley Park. Split the Hillgrove Sliders and the Hillgrove Poutine. The Sliders come 3 to an order on pretzel buns. The poutine come in two different sizes, the smaller lunch is me is plenty for 2 people with multiple appetizers. Great beer menu. Service is freaking amazing with an solid core group of folks. Food is good. Nothing super special or exciting, but nothing on the menu is disappointing and a lot of it is exceeds expectations. Something for everyone and Burger are a solid choice with some delicious patties. Fries are the best and 1/3 of the time the rotating soup is to die for, 1/3 it's good and 1/3 not my fav but maybe you'll like it. ‍ Bar has a good selection of beers on draft and in bottles. seasonal cocktails on the menu, or the bar tender can mix up your favorite. This was my second time coming to this restaurant. Both times I sat at the bar with my friend and both times we had really terrible service. The bartender seems to take a really long time making his rounds checking on everybody, and tonight it was even more sad because there was only a few of us there at the bar. Tonight, it seemed like the bartender only wanted to talk to the women at the bar versus other paying customers. I left him an appropriate tip because of that. Sometimes service means more than the actual food and drinks your serving. But right now I'm not giving this place the option of having a 3rd strike. I will not be coming back here. If the owner of this establishment is reading this, you have a lot of decisions to make on whether you want to have return customers, or continue with this same sub-par service. First time here after seeing all the good reviews and great photos that people have posted. Our waitress was super friendly and very attentive. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the cool breeze. So... I got the half order of chicken wings (6) no sauce on the wings only blue cheese & ranch on the side. When the waitress brought the wings, I was shocked to see how over cooked they were... Several parts of the skin was just burnt away. I find this interesting due to the fact that a previous review showed pictures of undercooked & bloody wings. The waitress was very apologetic, and said she would bring me out some fresh wings but alas, when they arrived, they were just as over cooked as the first order. I wound up eating only three of the lightest cooked flats. My first friend ordered the fish dinner (3pcs) and he said that it was very good... Lightly breaded and fried to perfection. My other friend ordered the appetizer nachos as his entrée, and he said that they were very bland... I tried some and I have to agree... not enough cheese, and no seasoning of any type. read more

Wow! This was my first time checking out this spot and I loved it! Went during happy hour and they had some great happy hour specials on drinks and food! the mini burgers were dynamo and the seasonal mule my boyfriend had was amazing. the server was pleasant and friendly and the food came out quickly! the restaurant was clean and spacious, and even though it was a bar and grill it was not dark and you weren't sitting on to p of each other. Celebrated my Boss's 60th birthday and my first time there at Hillgrove Tap in Tinley Park. It's been years since I've had a Cosmo and it was still delicious. I ordered the happy hour wings with Korean sauce and it was probably my least favorite thing out of the night that's why I have taken away 1 star. Wings was very hard and dry. Maybe I'm just not a wings kinda gal. However the Mac and cheese with bacon was absolutely fantastic! The chocolate mousse cake was creamy and Devine. They even brought a sparkler for my boss for her birthday cake. Plenty of seating and a very nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back for sure. Food was pretty good all around. But my favorite has got to be the Mac and cheese and the cake! read more

I don't like dwelling on the negative but I want to share my experience especially for other parents regarding this restaurant and our hostess. We came here for dinner, along with our 2 year-old son and his grandparents. I understand young children in restaurants can be controversial but we were seated in a nearly empty patio-I think there were only 3 or 4 tables seated, including a lovely family with a son who was a little older than ours. Our baby was excited and was exploring the outdoor area and his father was chasing after him and wrangling him back to our table. He was not crying or overly loud, he just wanted to explore his surroundings (empty tables). We tried to get him to sit down but it was a losing battle and eventually he and the sweet boy nearby exchanged toy cars with one another and were playing quietly on the ground, with both parents monitoring from two separate tables. After about 15 minutes my son got up and started running near a door that I had seen the waitresses coming out of with drinks so I jumped up and grabbed him and explained that he couldn't do that and to go play with cars again. Before I could sit down he was back over there (again, he's two), so once again I grabbed him as he was moving toward a tv cord that was hanging on the ground near the door. As I'm actively parenting my child and moving him, our older hostess comes storming up to me and says "Ma'am! He cannot touch the television. He cannot be in this area." Roger that. Precisely what you interrupted me from doing- parenting my child and moving him away (the gist of what I responded back). That was the only conversation we had but I'm still irritated thinking back on it. The mother at the nearby table heard the interaction and told me she was horrified how this woman had spoken to me and it was completely inappropriate. Who speaks to paying customers like that? I understand that it was a safety issue and I understand that it's important to be respectful for other guests when you bring your young children out but do not come up to me as I am ACTIVELY PARENTING and speak to me ignorantly. Plus as soon as the patio began to fill up he was seated with us eating his dinner and not allowed to leave. We also walked him outside a few times when he didn't want to cooperate. Our waitress was nice, the food was good and the only negative was this hostess, or whatever her role was. I hope this woman was just having a bad day and doesn't it make it a point to treat customers poorly on a regular basis. A little tact goes a long way. Probably won't be first on my places to return to soon unfortunately. read more

First time visit I ordered one of the Diablo Burger single. Well hate to tell you , it's not a hand packed ground beef burger like their menu displayed. It appears to be your typical frozen beef patty that you would get at an outdoor fest. Yes they hid patty well under all the toppings. Second visit I tried the steak sandwich. This sandwich was priced at $20 plus some change. This sandwich was slightly larger than two White castle sliders. They cut the steak up in approx. 8 thin strips for this sandwich. There were more red peppers on this sandwich than the meat. Though you felt a bit cheated on the meat the steak was tasty.This sandwich was not worth $20. The wife had the tacos which were decent. We tried out Hillgrove last night and absolutely loved it. The staff was very friendly and offered suggestions or help if you had questions. I ordered the cucumber jalapeno margarita and it was a large drink! It was very good too, just the right amount of spice. I also had the grilled cheese on gluten free bread. My wife got the Reuben. It was disappointed because there was not a lot of flavor. I got the pork chop special, a new item on the menu and it tasted good, but it was very small for the price. Our first time at hillgrove tap was great. We were able to walk in on a Saturday night around 8pm and be seated right away. Our server Cassie was so knowledgeable and attentive. She helped me decide between two cocktails to start and even shared some insight on her favorites from the menu. I ordered the peach sangria, my boyfriend ordered a zombie dust, then I tried the summer mule and he tried the noon whistle beer. We started out with ordering the fried mozzarella sticks which were perfect. For our entree we decided to split the fish and chips which were also very good. We liked that they were smaller pieces of fish opposed to the huge pieces you see more often. The fries were crispy as well. I forgot to take a picture as we dived in as soon as it arrived at the table. The only input I have would be to add more vegetarian, pescatarian and vegan menu options. It is very meat heavy and being a pescatarian the only options were the usual fish and chips, fish tacos, shrimp pasta and salmon. Just went to Hillgrove Tap in Tinley for dinner last night. I liked the place and would go again. The place had good self parking for customers. The location is pretty accessible to I80. Both outdoor and indoor seating were available. We initially were going to eat outdoors, but found it very loud. We ended up eating indoors. Our server was very pleasant and provided excellent service. Everyone in our party of 4 liked their food. I had a steak sandwich with sweet potato fries. Both were good. Everyone else had burgers, which they liked. The one negative was the lack of wine choices. Someone at the table ordered a cab sauvignon and was told it was not available. Their second wine choice was also not available. I was surprised that my beer was served in a can, but I was fine with it. Good food, good service. If I was in the area, I'd go there. A friend and I just had lunch at Hillgrove and it was very disappointing. We started with Bloody Mary's and mine looked fine but hers was so watery looking that you could see through it. The waitress agreed it was very thin and had a new one made. It came with 2 olives and a hot pepper. They were okay but we didn't finish them because they had pickle juice or something sour in them. We decided to start with hummus and split the avocado salad. The avocado was fresh along with the greens but the tomatoes had no flavor and it was the end with the stem. The hummus was dry and flavorless and the veggies were far from fresh. You can see the brown on the carrot in the pic. The feta was dry and not the least bit creamy. $13.95 for hummus is high but especially with old veggies. I showed our waitress the nasty veggies and she agreed and even made a joke about "don't you want to take the celery with you" and laughed. She saw we hadn't eaten much but didn't offer anything to make it right. What a shame. I wanted to like it. Tribes was so much better and made a great bloody and they didn't make it. I don't see this place making it unless they start paying attention to freshness and what comes out of the kitchen. read more
