She was smiley and didn't seem like she was overloaded with requests, even though so many people were belly up to the bar. We took our drinks and found a table. As a vegetarian the menu is limited but I'm from the Midwest and expect this from a neighborhood bar. I ordered the Caesar salad. It was a traditional Caesar salad. My husband got the chicken wrap with tater tot's. Both were fresh and no complaints.

Lawlor's is one of the many such places around here if it wasn't already obvious. A little farther away from the Beverly bars and hangouts. The menu is basic and there's pretty good prices. Basically we walked over here after hitting a few other of the area bars. It's actually in a new location. The older one used to be located closer to 111th and Pulaski. It was a true dive. This one though is a lot more modern looking. Has the same drinks but with food that's also edible. There's still a charm to it though. It's about $5 to get Jameson. There's also plenty on tap. It's about $7 for the Pretzel Bites. Kind of basic with a side of cheese sauce. I used mustard. The rest of the menu has meaty items like pork chops and things like that. Good place to come hang a bit. It's in a new location about a mile away from the old one. This is worth checking out getting away from the more popular places on Western.

So we ventured back for an early dinner. Spouse had Oxtail Soup and Fish N Chips. He was very…read morepleased with the taste of both. I ordered the 32 oz Prime Rob done medium rare. Came to the table perfectly cooked. No spinalis (ribeye cap) - looked more like an end piece. It was not as tender as I would have liked it to be, but still pretty tasty. Ended up taking enough home to have leftovers for 2 the next day. 3% surcharge is added if paying by credit card. Our server was very nice and accommodating, but she did seem to disappear for long periods of time. It seemed we waited a long time even to get our check once we requested it. Since it was early in the evening, there was not a big crowd. They no longer offer that delicious bruschetta with their bread basket and I miss that!!!!

The place was pretty busy and people were having a good time. The dinner was setup for family style which started off with bread and soup, salad, mashed potatoes, veggies then the main courses. We weren't sure if our son who has allergies was able to eat the food so we asked the server. The soup, bread was a no. The salad yes, but not the dressing. They did give him vinegar and oil. The chicken and beef we weren't sure so we ordered him a steak and mushrooms with a baked potato. The server was very helpful with helping us with our questions. When the food started coming out, a new server gave him the soup and the server that helped us warned us that he couldn't have it and I truly appreciated that. They come out with soup in a metal bucket and they ladle the soup into our bowls. The soup was ok but it was cold and the pasta noodles were mushy. The salad was good and the ranch was homemade and was tasty, I wish it was a little more thicker. The mashed potatoes were just ok and were cold as well. The veggies were not good, cold and could use some seasoning. The bread was the star for me. It was nice and crisp on the outside and has melted butter. I wanted to eat it all but I'm trying to cut down on carbs. The pasta had sausage and chunks of the sausage went into the sauce, the chicken and London broils looked good. Overall, the service was good. The bread and salad was good. The soup could have been better is hot and firmer pasta. Mashed potatoes had potential but it was just ok, pass on the veggies. And the meat appeared like it was good. My son's steak was cooked as desired and said it was good but the sautéed mushrooms were missing and we didn't really bother to ask for them. Being with family was great and that's what mattered at the end of the day. But if we were ever to come back, family style is an easy pass.
