I've been to country charm before but never alone. I decided that I wanted to go and try the fried Cod dinner, which comes with soup or salad, your choice of potato (French fries,waffles fries and mashed potatoes) and you as get veggies medley. I got the southwestern tortilla soup which I had to let it cool off, because it was so hot you could see the steam coming off it. As I finished my soup, the waitress brings out my cod dinner. And let me know she will be back with my veggie medley. Everything was steaming hot but very delicious. They serve breakfast and lunch from 6am through 3 pm. Two things they missed today. 1. Warm water for the Hot tea. Do you also serve warm coffee? The water you serve for tea should be the same temperature as your coffee. It should be hot. 2. As it was a late Breakfast, our grandson asked for root beer. No root beer. Wow. New Lenox, a small town in America doesn't have root beer. 3. Everything is clean, homey, and comfortable, which makes it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. While in the area for a concert, I stopped by this diner for a hearty breakfast and left feeling full and satisfied. I came with my husband and two friends. My husband and I shared the Triple Berry Blintzes and the Country Benny. Both were delicious, and we had good service. It was fairly busy, and we had to wait outside for a table, but it probably only took around 10-15 minutes which isn't bad for a Sunday morning at 10:30 AM. This is my absolute favorite breakfast place of all time. If I could go anywhere in the world, I would come here. If I had to wait an hour, I would but I've never had to because the staff is amazing I've never have had to wait more than 20 minutes even on the holidays! The staff is wonderful and the fantastic management shows with how smoothly everything functions when the place is packed! The food is perfect! I've never had anything that I didn't like, nothing ever burnt, and they have never messed up my order. My favorite thing to eat is their cinnamon swirl French toast and their sausage links are the best! My family loves their melting pot skillet and their breakfast burritos. The lunch menu is just as good as the breakfast! I've been coming here for 10 years and the whole feeling and quality has always been the same! Had the Pot Roast Skillet that had mushrooms, onions and mozzarella cheese, that I added green peppers and third egg. Food was delicious and service could not have been better. Went during the week because I can imagine that on Sunday it is probably very crowded. There are about 10 stools by the counter if you are by yourself. The inside is like knotty-pined, giving it a country feel. The only negative thing I can relate, is that the coffee is VERY weak like water. They need to make another dark-roast for people that prefer a stronger profile. But other than that, it is easy to tell that it is a very quality conscious place. A close friend of mine from Mokena recommended this place to meet for brunch. It was crazy busy when we arrived around 10:30 on Sunday. We still got seated within 5 minutes or so. This place has a lot of seating and is good for groups. It was just four of us and my wife and I waited for them to join us. In the meantime we enjoyed their smooth coffee. Tasted like a nice light roasted coffee. Then the hardest part. Choosing something from their varied menu was difficult. As someone who loves crab cakes I thought I would try their Crab Cakes Benedict. I have to admit I was shocked by the amount of food on the plate that arrived at the table. I have to add that the kitchen turned around tickets very quickly. Food arrived quickly and very hot. Final analysis on the crab cakes, I didn't taste the crab cake too much. Kind of got overpowered by the hollandaise and eggs. Not sure if they use jumbo lump crab but the crab to eggs ratio needs to rebalanced. My daughter and I met my mom for lunch today at about 11:45. The hostess was somewhat rude when we requested a table. Just seemed unhappy to be there. We got seated within 10 minutes during a busy time. Our waitress was great. Very attentive to my daughter's allergies. She loved her buffalo chicken wrap. My reuben sandwich was a little dry. Food was fresh and hot. Portions versus price were appropriate. I took the check to the register and paid with a credit card and the hostess printed it out and handed it to me in the usual fashion. I signed it but wanted to let her know I was leaving a cash tip at the table (I understand how restaurant tips work). And she was very rude and basically said what you want.
