Restaurants aren't always open on the Fourth of July, so when my daughter and I decided to go out for breakfast, I was a little nervous we'd struggle to find a good spot. Thankfully, Maple House Café on Lincoln Highway was open--and it absolutely did not disappoint. I should note that the restaurant is bigger on the inside than it appears from the front. Very spacious, warm and inviting. The restaurant was pretty busy when we arrived, but we were seated almost immediately in a cozy spot by the window. The atmosphere was very pleasant...dining room was clean, bright, peaceful, and comfortable, with plenty of natural light that made the atmosphere very comfortable without feeling noisy or chaotic. The food was outstanding. My daughter is a picky eater, so when she RAVES about her food I know folk are doing something right. She loved the eggs so much that she cleaned her plate, and she also really enjoyed the house-made sausage patties. She was okay with her pancake but kept reaching over to steal bites of my cream cheese-stuffed French toast topped with fresh fruit and whipped cream. It was sweet without being overly sweet, which I really appreciated. It struck a perfect balance. I ordered lightly scrambled eggs with feta, and they prepared them exactly the way I like them. I also ordered the sausage links and was surprised when three huge, perfectly seasoned links arrived on the plate. They were delicious. The portions here are incredibly generous. In fact our delightful server brought a fresh fruit waffle to our table by mistake, and told us to keep it on the house. So glad she did cuz that waffle was ...crisp on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside, and absolutely delicious. The service was excellent from beginning to end. Everyone we encountered from the hosts to our server to the staff clearing tables were all genuinely warm, friendly, and attentive. Considering they were spending part of their holiday serving others instead of being with family, their positive attitudes made an even bigger impression. My daughter was also happy about the strawberry lollipop she got on the way out, which was, for her, the perfect ending to a great breakfast. Hey family! It's been a while. My honey and I got a late breakfast at Maple House cafe. Located of route 30, it's in an area with amply shopping options....and ample parking which was off to a nice start. Greeted by the aroma of fresh pancakes and a warm welcome, we were excited about checking this place out. My honey ordered the stuffed French toast and I ordered the corned beef hash breakfast ( I love corned beef hash, whatever!). Unfortunately, they did not meet the mark. My corned beef hash was made with freshly made corned beef and unfortunately, I'm not a fan. It's something about the freshness of the seasoning used, it's extremely overwhelming. As far as the stuffed French toast, it was like cake, with too much whipped cream and maraschino cherries. You know what they say when you have to add some much "fluff" to a dish.... Been here before so knew it was good. Went on Mother's Day for brunch. They don't take reservations but surprisingly I was told only a ten minute wait. Given a pager and it was almost exactly 10 min when we got The page. Daughter had the steak and Eggs, which she raved about being flavorful, wife had a giant omelet and was very happy and I had a Rueben sandwich which was good, not great but overall good. Portions were definitely big and the service was great. Alway attentive and coffee never empty. Prices were ok. Only downside was it was a little loud due to the high ceiling. As a long time patron I have had excellent service and food here. But not today. From when we sat down to when we got our breakfast it was one hour and fifteen minutes. Two of the three of us got water that we requested. The server came back one time to refill our coffee. The toast was burnt; the pancakes were cold and not served with butter or syrup; the french fries were cold and greasy; the eggs were very cold. The owner was apologetic and we appreciated this but we will not be returning to this restaurant. read more

This place was good at one time but it has steadily gone downhill. They are now blaming the customers for their inability to serve food within 30 minutes. My last time is today. At 45 minutes for a skillet and order of pancakes is too much and then one of the owners blamed customers as the reason for the delay and refused to figure out why. Now the food has also gone downhill. It's ok but they seem to be cutting back on portions and quality. A late breakfast at a new spot for us! Let's get into it! It was before 1130a. (not much), and this lovely place was JUMPING! For 2, it was only a 10-15min wait so no complaints there. Because it was literally wall to wall people inside. Some were waiting outside. Let's talk food and drink: Now if you are looking for an adult sip with your eggs, this isn't that kind of place. But, do not allow that to turn you away from the goodies in-store. I was excited as this was my first time. I started with coffee. Hot and I was READY hot and ready. Lol My Order: Build-a-Breakfast. Everything tasted good. Look, the banana bread really threw me off. I really wished there was a disclaimer( and there wasn't). But it was TASTY (It was a sweet treat around 8p). I have found a new favorite breakfast stop yet again . The consistency is very impressive as my past favorites have dropped the ball and never returned to the excellence at the time of their review. The decor is simple and well-done . Wainscot panels provide a country charm . The brassy copper painted duct work is sharp . Not industrial looking and flows overhead well with whirling fans . It's the little things that make the difference. Breakfast sides include French toast, not just the usual pancakes or toast . Their loyalty program is generous.You can bank it or use the rewards right away . It can be crowded on weekends but it's fairly large and the rotation of customers move quickly. There are a few high tops and counter seating in the back . And the usual booths and tables are plentiful. As I said this is my latest go to breakfast cafe . Today I had Dawn as my server who I have had before, she is a very consistent with her service, timing and beverage control, two thumbs up. I had the Irishman Skillet today as well as a bowl of Beef Barley Soup. The soup was very filling as well as delicious and perhaps filled me more than anticipated so I ate only a portion of the skillet. I started out today wanting something that contained Corned Beef Hash and well I found a winner. It was a very rainy and stormy morning so it was rather nice and peaceful inside unlike most days where there is a considerable amount of traffic which is a good thing, it gives you that feeling that everything must be pretty good here that it attracts so many people..!! read more

Went here for the first time ever! We were in the area and wanted to stop by someplace for breakfast before getting more errands done. First the coffee. I always gotta get a cup of coffee at breakfast joints and this has to be one of the best ones I've had. The waitress always kept my cup filled too! Second is the food. My husband and I split a steak skillet. It was a really big portion so glad we did. Skirt steak was tender and the overall dish was flavorful. We also got a side of fruit, which were fresh slices of pineapple, watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe and orange. I also got a side of English muffin which was OK as well. The vibe was more modern than other breakfast joints I've been to which are typically more like diners. And the restaurant was a lot bigger inside than I thought. Only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 star was the plate I was given so that we can split the skillet was kind of dirty. I don't get too grossed out by these things but if anyone else saw it, I know they would be. My husband definitely didn't want to eat off of it. My husband did say they wish they had more spicier options other than the Latino inspired dishes. Overall, good restaurant. Might come back again if I'm in the area. read more

Ever since Songbird Cafe closed, this is my go to breakfast place. The food is delicious. The staff is friendly. The owner makes you feel welcome. This four star rating may be deceiving in that "good" doesn't cover the food and service we received on December 26 at 11:00 am. At 9:00 am my wife attempted to make a reservation for eighteen people. She was told that reservations were not being accepted and that it could be difficult to seat a party that large. Since this would be the last chance for the seven visitors from Texas and the two from California, plus the locals, to get together for one last meal, I decided to call back and plead my case. It was obvious that I was putting some unintentional stress on this young lady, so I asked to speak to the manager or owner and was told he had just left. I then asked if there was anyone I could speak to about this. Whoever I spoke to said to please come in, they would accommodate us though there might be a short wait and she couldn't guarantee that we would be seated together. That was good enough for me. We arrived on time, were seated immediately at four or five tables in close proximity and were attended to quickly and in a friendly and helpful matter. Water and coffee was served without hesitation and once it was figured which server was handling what we were able to order. Fortunately, we were given enough time to peruse the menus and decide, and ordering went smoothly. The food. I can't speak for seventeen others but I was totally satisfied with my meal of a patty melt, fresh crispy and hot French fries, a tasty coleslaw and a bowl of French onion soup. There was nothing I would have asked to change or complain about. I had a sample of someone's eggs benedict and found that tasty. All the while, our server was on top of things, refilling drinks and checking on us without having to be waved over. On top of that, she was friendly and we could tell she was smiling under her mask, which most if not all employees we saw were wearing. All in all, it was a nice time spent together with family we don't often see and made that much better by the food, service and attitude. One last thing. Reading these reviews can be frustrating. I think there are those who simply want to complain, or instead of enjoying the meal they try to catch the cooks and servers screwing up. I can't say I'm a regular at Maple House but when we come in for breakfast I specify that I'd like crispy hash browns and I'd like a flat omelet instead of a puffy one. Both requests are handled. Be nice, or at least civil, don't treat the staff as if they are beneath you. They are providing you with a service, treat them as if your roles were reversed. Oh, you may be wondering why I didn't give Maple House the fifth star. On that cold morning our table was near the door, so we'd get that blast of cold air on ourselves and the food.
