Not my first time here but first time sitting outside. Ran to get after work then after looking at a few local options decided to come back here. I sat outside with my puppy with a handful of menus... wow, specialty drinks of the month! It didn't take me long to decide on my order but it took a while for my food, an appetizer and a crafted margarita. I was outside by myself and the inside wasn't full. I saw several people walking around, not sure how well staffed, or organized since I had to wait for host when I walked in too ( 5 pm ish). I was done with food and drink and waited. Over 30 minutes after I was done then I got up to go in to ask for check. 15 minutes later I also asked her if they kept her busy inside. She said yes... hmmm no big groups?!? So, didn't get to enjoy more food or drinks but I'm glad I had enough for my puppy :) if I choose to go back, I won't sit outside. read more

We were seated at a high-top near the bar, and our assigned server was also tending bar. Another server initially brought us water and let us know our server would be with us shortly. When our server finally came over, he only took our drink order and left without asking if we wanted appetizers or were ready to place our food order. Our drinks were delivered by a third server, and then we waited approximately 20-25 minutes with nothing but drinks and menus. During that time, we watched the table next to us get seated, receive drinks, and even get their food while our server never checked back in. Eventually, I flagged down another server and asked if she could please put in an order for calamari. She was very kind and helpful. A few minutes later, our server finally returned to take our order, and by then it was obvious we were frustrated with the wait. Unfortunately, instead of immediately putting our order in, he stopped at the neighboring table to chat for several minutes with what appeared to be regulars or VIP guests. As for the food, it was underwhelming overall. The calamari lacked flavor, although the marinara sauce served with it was excellent. I ordered the grouper with mashed potatoes -- the grouper was just okay, and the potatoes were dry and disappointing. Overall, this was a poor dining experience from start to finish. We were excited to try this restaurant, but within minutes that excitement turned into disappointment. Sadly, we will not be returning. read more

We went to Dock on Front with high expectations after hearing all the buzz. In fact, we actually tried going about a month ago but left after learning there was a two-hour wait -- which honestly only added to its mystique. When we finally made it in, I was surprised by how small and intimate the place was -- cozy atmosphere, limited seating, and a lively bar setup. The highlight for sure was the Margarita Flight Boarding Pass. Super creative idea! You pick four flavors from their list, fill out a little "boarding pass," and hand it to your server. Between two flights, we tried coconut, huckleberry, mango, strawberry banana, blackberry, key lime pie, peach, and raspberry. Every flavor actually tasted true to its name -- bold, fruity, and fun. Definitely the most memorable part of the night. For appetizers, the Burrata Board was fresh and well-balanced -- creamy burrata, prosciutto, and honeycomb made for a great light start. The French Onion Soup was a twist on the classic -- a bit lighter in flavor but still comforting and satisfying. For mains, we went with the Buffalo Chicken Salad and the Charleston's Classic Smash Burger. The salad was fine but nothing that stood out -- grilled chicken topped with buffalo sauce rather than fully tossed in it. The burger had great flavor and the Merkts cheese was a star, but it leaned more toward a hearty pub-style burger than a true "smash." Overall, Dock on Front was good -- flavorful food, unique drinks, and a fun concept -- but it didn't quite live up to the hype. I'd tell anyone it's worth visiting once, but I'm not in a rush to go back. After all the buzz, I expected to be blown away--but it fell just short of that mark. read more

6 weeks. 6 weeks is how long this establishment has been open. 6 weeks! And I happen to just bump into this restaurant on Instagram. So glad that I did! It's adorable. Truly adorable! Kim was our server and she was so kind. We had their flight of margaritas. They come in assorted flavors(frozen) From key lime pie, to coconut (my favorite), peach, watermelon, just to name a few. We started the meal with spicy cauliflower. YUMMERS! Crispy, spicy, deliciously packed with flavor! I chose for my entree a smash burger. The Charleston. Plenty of gooey cheese and grilled onions! I couldnt finish even half of it. I opted for a side salad instead of fries. My girlfriend had one of their variety of chicken sandwiches and she reports it was tasty and filling. She could only finish half of hers as well. The feel of this place is definitely seaside, nautical ish! We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful day. The drinks, the bites and the service were absolutely wonderful. If you have not stopped in, make plans to do so. Mokena is building up! Its literally right across the street from the Metra station! Service a little slow tonight. Still a loud environment. Food was good. Out of their dinner special and waitress didn't know that. Seem pretty inflexible with their reservations. I recently dined here with friends and the food and service were fine, but the billing experience was very disappointing. I carefully reviewed the check, wrote $0 on the tip line, carried the total down with no tip, and left a cash tip on the table. When I got home and looked at the photo of the signed receipt and my credit card statement, the restaurant had added a 20% gratuity that was not listed or disclosed anywhere on the bill. I called the restaurant the to inquire about the charge. I felt the managerI spoke with was not being truthful in their explanation, and the manager eventually hung up on me abruptly. This left me feeling scammed. If you're paying by card here, take a photo of your signed receipt immediately and double-check your statement. It seems they're adding undisclosed gratuity knowing customers may not catch it right away. I will not be returning. read more

We recently had a baby shower at The Dock. It was absolutely fantastic. The room looked fabulous, the food was great and the service was way beyond what we expected. Kim was the best and made the whole stressful situation a smooth process and had our guests praising her afterward. I would recommend to anyone to use The Dock for any event they are planning in the future, Mokena is lucky to have this new space in our town. read more

We stopped by on Sunday around 5 pm on Labor Day weekend. We called ahead but they don't do reservations. They told me though that they only had a 5 minute wait which turned out to be true. 2nd time eating at this establishment. The 1st time all the food was fresh and delicious. This time they seemed to make a few changes. The fries were originally homemade, now the are frozen its a shame because the original fries were much better. Had the jalapeño popper chicken sandwich with the grilled chicken. Wasn't very good. The meat was chewy and had no texture. Tasted as if it was frozen I asked the waitress if the check Breast was fresh or frozen and she did not know. Probably wont be back. Stopped in last minute based on reviews. Able to get seated right away manager brought over some waters right away. Server came by after 10 minutes and took our order, drinks and some burgers. Food time was about 15 minutes however our drinks came literally right after our food. Mine was watered down from the ice melting. My burger was overdone. Onion rings were good though. Simply fantastic! This place has everything you want in a great neighborhood restaurant destination. The dining area was newly renovated and has a clean groovy vibe. Very open floor plan with patio dining, a bar and lots of seating. We arrived a little after 4:30PM and the place was packed with enthusiastic dinners. The place was noisy but in a very good way, everyone was having a great time. We were seated promptly by the owner who was gracious enough to stop by our table and say hello. Our server Dan was a delight, he played along with my lame dad jokes and made us feel at home. The menu items we enjoyed were very good and reasonably priced. I'm looking forward to returning and trying some other items. This is truly one of my new favorites! read more

The Pros: Cute place! Great smashburger and onion rings. Pastrami reuben OK, but not as good as a regular reuben. The pulled pork sliders excellent. Service fine, but waiters spend minimum amount of time at each table. The "con" below could be part of the reason for that. The Cons: Soooooooo loud inside. I couldn't even hear the person sitting right next to me. Don't go here during "peak hours" if you want to carry on any type of conversation. Or, sit outside if you can get a table. read more

Calamari that was $17 came out with a lemon that still had a sticker on it. Which this indicates that it wasn't washed and over looked. Steak sliders came out well done and a hair in it. We booked reservations for 6pm on Mother's Day weeks in advance to celebrate. It did not start off well. When we were handed the specialty menu for dinner, it had about half the menu crossed off because they had run out. At 6pm on Mother's Day! We stayed since it's Mother's Day and would be impossible to find a table anywhere else. Our server Kim handled it wonderfully, having to work on her Mother's Day too! Poor job with how business is ran, if they're running out of food before it's even dinner time. My mom got the last steak when we ordered. My sister got the chicken and it was covered in a slimy gravy sauce with absolutely no flavor. My husband's whitefish was the tiniest meal I've ever seen served and tasted like nothing. My salmon was raw in the middle, I can't cook, but even I know how to fully cook a salmon. My poor mother deserved a wonderful Mother's Day dinner, especially for the price (it was very expensive for being such terrible quality)! We saw more tables leave than stay for their reservations after seeing how much food they were out of. The place is cute inside and in a great spot, but not worth a penny for the food. Our server Kim was so apologetic, I felt terrible for any of the servers working having to tell their tables they were out of basically everything. Poor management if that's how they're making their servers work on Mother's Day, a day where they should be making good money with booming business! read more

I have visited the Dock twice now. The initial visit I had the Cobb salad and was very disappointed. The salad consisted of overwhelming amount of field greens and my avacado was hard as a rock. I recently went back again and was equally disappointed. I ordered the Chicken Limon and the chicken was so tough and dried out I was unable to cut it with the knife provided I did not eat it. Came for the special today, 2 HUGE meatballs, perfectly cooked spaghetti and red sauce to die for! (I'm Italian) came with garlic toast and extra sauce. Meatballs were tender and flavorful 10/10! Went for dinner tonight with two friends. The restaurants decor and ambience was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable waiter. The menu was so diverse we had a hard time deciding what to get and settled on wine, margarita, and smash burgers. Food was delicious. Rick, the owner, came by to introduce himself and talk to us about the restaurant. We have to make at least 10 more trips there to try everything that looked great on the menu! read more

Service was fantastic! I got the Dock margarita, fish tacos and sweet potato fries. It was wonderful. My husband got the Rueben and you could tell they smoked the corned beef in house. 10/10. My kids each got a double smash burger and absolutely loved it too. We will definitely be back! read more

The food was so good! I loved the guilt- less goat pizza, the flavor was perfect. The burrata board was yummy (although I would always like more crostini). My friend had the burger and it was huge. EXCEPT the multiple flat surfaces, ceiling, walls windows did nothing to make an indoor voice conversation possible. The adult beverages were adequate, but not remarkable.
