Great Wine Bar with Surprising Space and Tasty Bites! This wine bar is such a hidden gem! From the outside, it looks small, but once you're in, it opens up into a much larger space with a relaxed, upscale vibe. I loved the small outdoor area out front for a casual sip, and there's a spacious tented area in the back that's perfect for events or extra seating. The concept of trying different wines is a fun and unique experience. Our favorite menu item was hands-down the Buffalo cauliflower bites--crispy, flavorful, and addictive. I also really enjoyed the Alaskan Pollock wings, which were a pleasant surprise. Parking is very limited, so be careful. Do not park in the lots of neighboring restaurants--you will get towed. Best option: park along the train tracks. The only downside for me was the TouchTunes jukebox. I was excited to play some music, but many of the songs I enjoy (which are not inappropriate by any means) weren't available. That was a little disappointing and took away from the vibe just a bit. Also, our waitress wasn't rude or mean, but she wasn't particularly warm or welcoming either--it left the service feeling just okay. What a great place. The visit started off rocky with the lady who had checked us in, but eventually the service turned around. The experience received a tip wine bar was one of a kind, and I have never had a winetasting like such. What was unique is that you were giving a key tag that you were able to scan at each station and you were able to select a wine tasting, a pour, or a glass; each respective designation had a specific price ranging from two dollars to eight dollars. They did also have food available for purchased unfortunately we did not indulge in that but the menu seemed pretty interesting. Overall, the vibe of the place was pretty standard. read more

When I pulled up I didn't expect it to look like it did on the inside because it kind of looked like house on the outside. Very surprised when I walked in....over 80 wines to try!!!! Was greeted at the door with great hospitality and they explained how everything worked. You give your card where they open a tab and it is linked to a fob. You click the fob at every station then select which wine and ounce you want. At the end everything is added up. The food was delicious as well; burgers, wings, flatbreads, etc. will definitely go back, I still have wine to try! read more

My friend read about this place and after shopping, where else would you want to go? Out of the hustle of the malls, a nice glass (or 3) of wine with decadent snacks thrown in. It is a self service wine bar. We walked in and were not greeted although a woman was at the counter. She ignored us then walked off to take care of something without acknowledging us. Luckily, another woman saved the star and came up to us. She took us on a tour, gave us the low down-the screens above each station tell you what wine is at each of the 10 stations with one being outside. You pick the pour amount each with a different price (sips $2+, 1/3 pour $3+, glass $6+). You get a fob to allow it to dispense being held with a credit card. It can get pricey so pay attention! We decided to sample a few and get a glass of the one we liked. You can wash out your glass between sips in the middle. We were told that if it does not have the correct amount the pour will not be offered. My friend had chosen one and it was the last pour in the bottle. Not sure if that was accurate as there were bubbles dispensed when it should have been wine. We let them know and they insisted the pour was correct even though it was at the end. The bottle was changed, she had to pour a bit out into the now empty bottle for the dispenser piping not to spill over in the new bottle. Instead of giving my friend the bit that had to be poured out, it looked like it was thrown in the trash. Why not give the woman who paid those drops since it was going to be thrown out? I don't know maybe its a rule. Like if you buy the bottle for take out, you save $12 vs drinking it there- read the signage as you walk around. The food was an eclectic mix of sides and snacks. A very long selection so I wonder if some are made ahead of time and just heated when ordered? We had the fried cauliflower and beer cheese mac and cheese. Sip is kind of an interesting spot.. part trendy restaurant, and part "choose your own adventure" in wine tasting. The concept is simple - you put a credit card on file and they give you a token (microchip) that you use to dispense pre-determined measurements of over 70 different wines into your glass. The wines range in price based upon the wine themselves and the amount you want to drink. If you're not a wine drinker, you're still in the game because of the large cooler full of seltzers and local, craft beers. It's a pretty cool concept as long as you don't mind serving yourself (which we don't). The restaurant is located in an old house that's been renovated and features indoor and outdoor seating - as well as a semi-private banquet room. The menu is extensive, and is generally themed around shareable plates of comfort food.... Flatbread pizzas, sliders and various charcuterie boards highlight the menu, as well as a few dishes prepared with what they call "corks" - which are fried pieces of dough they serve as both savory appetizers and desserts. We opted for the Bananas Foster Corks, and they were amazing. All of the apps we shared were very tasty and plenty big enough to fill you up. Our service was prompt and efficient, so no complaints there. I can't be sure I'd go back consistently because there are times I just like to be waited on, but it certainly was kind of a cool change for dinner - especially if you're adventurous and like trying new things. You swipe your FOB and select your wine 1oz to 8oz. 1oz is nothing go with the larger pour I wish there was a flight option I felt I was spending too much per swipe because price does very depending on what type of wine that it is, it can be $1 of the two of the three per ounce up to their discretion. But a full poor I saw on one wine was expensive by my perception I rather glass then sip I was scared I was going to go over my budget.Also if your new there have them show you I wasted my pour in the counter it came out faster than I expected . We liked the self service wine concept and prices were not too bad. We tried many different wines. For food we got the brussels sprouts wrapped in bacon and the spinach and mozzarella flatbread. First time here. It was a girls night out. We grabbed a table outside which was really nice. We felt like we were on vacation! Food was good and reasonably priced. Lots of choices also. The only suggestion I would make is to group similar wines together, sweet wines, reds, whites, semi dry, etc. Maybe the point is to slow you down and they are mixed up a bit. They have tv screens that describe it but you have to cycle through to find the one of interest. I think I tried 7-8 tastes before I made my choice. Great concept and it was a fun night. read more

SIP Wine bar hosted our event on their back covered patio last weekend and it was perfect. Our attentive server, Alisa (I probably spelled it wrong), was very helpful in ensuring our 75 attendees had all they needed to enjoy the night. SIP has several self- service wine machines which are great to taste or pour yourself a glass from with all kinds of great options and different price points. They also have a spirits section as well as seltzers and beer available. The system worked great that everyone was on their own tab (probably not easy for the wait staff) but was nice we didn't have a big bill to split at the end of the night. They allowed us to bring in some decorations on the patio and we had a giant projector screen to watch college football on. Been here a few times now. Parking in the area on a Friday or Saturday can be difficult. The food has always been very good and we have tried many different things. Service was friendly and we were shown how things work in regards to using the wine dispensing machines. I really like sitting in their back area that is technically considered outdoors, but is fully enclosed, and is a very nice place to sit, even if it is moderately loud. The food choices are extensive, and the prices are fairly reasonable. The concept of trying multiple samples of wine at different sizes is the idea here but be prepared for a high beverage bill, so be careful or be ready to pay. But that's what this place is all about. It gives you the ability to sample something instead of wasting your money on an entire glass that you did not like. I highly recommend, trying sip and see if you like it. Sip is such a welcomed gem in Tinley! The self pouring wine is super fun and the staff is really knowledgeable about their wine. The prices are pretty reasonable compared to other self pour places I've visited. The food is a STAR! So reasonably priced (in my opinion) and tons of great options. My big group split the avocado crostini, shisito peppers, burrata flatbread (all pictured) as well as garlic cheese curds, pretzel sticks with delish dipping sauces, savory corks - all so beyond amazing. The service both front and back of the house is always absolutely lovely. I also love how the crowd is a mix of people - it's just a wonderful place. Hidden Gem! If you are not from this area, I'd highly recommend trying this spot! Just the right twist on self service wine! Upon arriving you're greeted by the staff in which they explain the process of choosing wine, having lunch (etc). Before selecting your wine you have to add a debit/credit on file in order to use the key card they provide you. When doing this it calculates your tab! A wine glass is then giving to you, and you're shown what stations each type of wine belongs to. Thereafter, you insert your key & boom there's your wine! Just to add also, each individual wine as it's own levels + pricing (affordable). For the food portion you have the option to either dine instead of outside where their patio is available. They have a nice variety of healthy food options, but hopefully they extend it more with versatile food options. But, if you're a healthy eater you have more options than most. The food is prepped quickly, & plated nicely - and FRESH! Service is professional, friendly & the ambiance is very chill and quiet for the most part. Went here with a friend for a girls date night. The self-serve wine was a first for me, and I loved being able to try several different sips before landing on one that I decided to fill my glass with for the rest of the night. The outdoor seating in both the front and back is perfect for a summer night. We ordered several appetizers and all were good, I think my favorite was the cheese board though. Perfect for the wine pairings. The menu also suggests the drink pairing for each item which is nice to consider. Love Sip! We come here often. Love the concept of tap your own wine. Great variety of wine, beer and bourbon options. It can get somewhat expensive so happy hour from 1-5pm during the weekday is nice for 20% off wine on tap. Their food is so good and such a variety of options. Great way to share items with others, as food is sort of tapas style. Love the Smoked wings but you really can't go wrong with any food item here. read more

The wine selection was decent. The whiskey selection was decent. The beer selection was just ok for me. The beers were mostly local stuff that I'd already had. They did seem to have a good selection of canned cocktails and they also had a good selection of canned N.A. beverages but that stuff is not for me. The wine and whiskey comes out of a machine and it registers to your bill automatically. All other beverages come out of a cooler which you take to the counter to have added to your bill. I felt like the prices were very high for what you get as far as serving size for wine and whiskey. Parking in the area is tricky. The place is clean and nice overall. The atmosphere was ok for a Friday night. The food and service were definitely the highlight of the experience. We had the Greek nachos, pretzel sticks, and a cheese plate. They were all very good but I don't think it would be worth a trip back for me. We also had a 2-month old new born baby with us and she immediately told us they wouldn't allow it. Hosted a surprise party at SIP the weekend before thanksgiving. The entire team there from start to finish made it so easy to keep the surprise, stay within budget and have a great time with amazing food. The team made amazing wine recommendations for me as a non wine drinker, and guests in attendance loved the options as well as the local Kolsch/Hefeweizen selection they had available for me. All the food items were amazing and I had the pleasure of meeting the Chef the day before the event to get her recommendations and be sure we had enough food. Our serve the day of was equally amazing and there was never a wait on anything. Food was awful. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip. Came in a tiny tiny bowl. It was burnt and tasted and looked like paste. Ordered the stuffed mushroom caps. Not cooked and the spinach inside was like a green gunky paste. The wine that I had for $9.50 for a quarter half of the glass sells on line for $9.49 a bottle but at Sips, they were asking $34.00 a bottle. Talk about marking up the prices! Had the pretzel sticks with beer cheese, the beer cheese was terribly watered down and over-salted, I guess to try to hide that it was watered down? But it was extremely runny, the consistency of chicken broth. The bread sticks were good though. My friend has the bourbon sliders, she said the bacon was under-cooked, but the chicken was good. The servers were kind and attentive. I didn't go here to eat so I won't make the rating suffer for the food that was just okay. Sip is truly a hidden gem in Tinley. This is the kind of place that always seems to open in Naperville or Schaumburg - but never the Southside. I have been in Sip at least 100 times since they opened. They have a HUGE food menu, and everything I have ordered has been delicious. We have also done carry out many times. The wine selections cover a wide range of pricing and tastes. The staff is always helpful and will happily recommend either food or wine. And if you don't like wine, there is a nice selection of beer as well as canned cocktails and White Claws. There is nothing like being outdoors at Sip during the summer! Horrible experience When I walked in I explained I was a first timer. The young lady came walked me around. she explained how to use the ring to fill my glass. Went over hour to pour and the charge. The ladies I was with. They wanted to sit and try the food. So instead of me constantly hoping up. I'd just order a bottle. When doing so the lady who had taken my order. She was the one, I mentioned me being a first timer. She never gave the spill about the $12 server fee. if I purchase and sit in. Lady I was went started to order and that's when I heard. First off Don't park at Mickie's he will scream at you and/or tow your car. So your warned. Now to sip, we were introduced to the concept by a friend and decided to check it out. Once we entered, we were greated by the staff and they showed us how everything went. It's a pretty straight forward concept, put your card in and you have 3 separate amounts you can buy. A Sip, 2 sips and a glass. We ended up buying a bottle of what we liked while there. It's good to try different things but the glass was 10 bucks and the bottle was 36. So it was a no brainier for us once you find something you like. It's not traditional service so don't expect someone to wait on you hand and foot. They check in you but your supposed to wave them down. This is counterintuitive but works for this setting because you might never need an actual server. The food was shockingly good. I was expecting basic bar food but everything we ordered was good. We had two flat breads, cheese and bruchetta both really good and they come with garlic butter that is amazing. We had the deep fried Cauliflower and Bacon wrapped dates both solid. Two different types of cheese, bre and jalapeno with crackers. The Pretzel had 5 different dipping sauces so that was a nice addition. The Girls recommended a Bachelor/Bachelorette night. Could be a cool event, women drinking wine and eating cheese watching TV. I won't take credit for it but I can't remember exactly who's idea it was but pretty sure I helped with the idea. The only real issue I noticed for me was from an organizational perspective which isn't technically an issue. The Female to male Ratio was 10:1 which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But it would be interesting to see how to appeal to more men. It's definitely a more refined place, which is great. It's obviously not a sports bar but it would interesting to see how get that ratio closer to 1:1. That might not be the goal but men tend to spend more on alcohol then women which is why I brought it up. Maybe it was the night we came on. Maybe men need to grow up and drink more wine. Needless to say that was the only thing that I could think of, which is a good thing. One idea that came to mind was to add some craft beer stations ? Maybe in one of those back rooms or side area. Not sure if the liquor laws allow it. But I have visited places (out of this state) that had wine and beer and it was a more balanced crowd. Linda at sip wine bar provided horrendous customer service. We were informed via text that our order was cancelled, Linda called us asking when we were going to be picking up our order(rudely). When we arrived they were closed, I knocked on the door only for her to make eye contact with me, then completely ignore me like I wasn't even there(she called me 3 minutes earlier rushing me to pick up my order) I then knocked faster and harder until she had no choice but to come to the door. When I told her I was the customer she just called to pick up their order, she sighed and ran to the back without saying a word, handed me my bag, closed the door and locked it behind me.
