It's a cute little bakery in the blood west area by High Park. Very nice woman working there. I came in after seeing the sign for banana pudding which was sold out but it was an excuse to try something else. Ordered a croissant bread pudding and enjoyed the fresh taste of this twist. The way things are presented in the window I must say is quite mouth watering. Hard to walk by and not want something. I had ordered a London fog latte which was not bad at all but paled in-comparison to the pastry. Would definitely want to try other things they offer! read more

Very small shopfront but it was hustling and bustling! We were waiting for a lunch table elsewhere and stumbled upon this place while walking around the area. All the pastries and baked goods are near the front window and the display looks so appetising. We ended up getting a pecan butter tart and a cinnamon hazelnut coffee cake. I was in the neighbourhood when I came across this adorable cafe. They have their treats displayed in the glass display at the front and their menu is posted outside as well. The shop is very small and can maybe fit 2 customers at a time. There is also no indoor seating. The staff are very friendly and upbeat. I got their iced Americano and chocolate croissant. Love this place! One of the best new addition in the Bloordale neighborhood in the recent years. The staff is always friendly and I've never had to wait too long for service. The baked goods are amazing (especially the cherry tarts) and the ice cream is one of my fav in the city. The space is a bit small, so I usually grab something to go when I come here - they have a few seats customers can sit, but it can get full pretty quickly and/or feel cramped a bit, so it's not the best café if you're looking for a space to have a meeting with someone or do school work or work on some stuff. As a few other reviews mentioned, the prices a bit more expensive than other cafés in the area - but then again, the baked goods and ice cream are AMAZING and since everything is made from scratch in-house and Home Baking isn't a chain, you have to expect to pay more money than you would in a chain like Starbucks or an in independent café that gets their baked good delivered from a factory. I personally don't mind the more expensive price tag, since I treat sweets as a special treat I get once in a while and not something I get regularly. read more

Came here after seeing all the wonderful reviews for my birthday. I was very excited to see that they have butter tarts. Ever since a colleague told me about butter tarts, I'm on the quest to find the best ones made in bakeries across Toronto and home baking co doesn't disappoint. The lady who took our order, not sure if she's the owner, was extremely knowledgeable and wonderful. We asked if we should get the cupcake or the moist cake because both looked delicious. She honestly replied saying that the cupcake is made from the same batter. It might be easier to eat on the go while the cake is more moist. So, we went with the cupcake as we wanted to eat while walking. It was extremely delicious and there's a real homemade goodness to their sweet treats which we loved. Oh, another thing about their butter tarts is that they're not overly sweet like the ones you get in a grocery store. So, you can taste the butter, maple syrup and all the goodness without the cloying sweetness. We will be back to treat ourselves for more of their goodies. read more

If I'm being completely honest, i was on my way to Brock Sandwich to get the pulled pork sandwich but I saw a HUGE rat corpse at Bloor and Emerson. Apparently the rat was going north on Emerson and the car made a bad turn. I like the homeyness of this place, and their baked good are top notch. t Today being a hot day I stopped by to support them and buy an ice-cream. They're strictly tap payment, no cash, right now. I'm assuming it's due to Covid-19. I asked for a receipt and they said I was on the system and it was emailed to me. When I got home I looked at the receipt and they tagged on their own tip without either asking me, or informing me that (for whatever reason) this is mandatory. Not cool in my books. It's not the amount but the principle. A tip is, and always should be voluntary not mandated by a business. If you are trying to garner more money for your business then raise the prices. If you're trying to give your employees more money then raise the prices and add a raise to the salary of your employees. Adding on a tip as a sneak attack is underhanded, cheap and unethical... like the negative billing Rogers use to do until the government made a law against it. As good as you products are and as nice of a place you have because of this you've lost a customer. I hope you change your tactics and stop sneak ambushing the people who are trying to support you. read more

I wish Home was my home - really. The first time I had an ice cream and cookie sandwich was back when Bakerbots just opened. I was hooked. So when Home opened, one of the few late night bakeries in the area, I was excited! One of the masterminds behind Bakerbots is the same owner of Home so I knew I would have no concerns of their baked goods. And the fact that it's open late means I can work and enjoy ice cream into the late evening which I am most focused. At $4 a half sandwich, it's one of the cheapest in the city and tastes just as good if not better. My favourite ice cream sammie combination is the mint chocolate and dark chocolate cookie. They just compliment each other so well. I have yet to try anything else, but I'm sure I will eventually. Home is a very kid friendly place. It's typically quiet and there are never really lines. Honestly a hole in the wall spot! Was walking down bloor looking for a coffee shop to chat with a friend and stumbled upon this hidden gem. It's small but really cute and cozy inside. I love that it's open late, I went there around 830pm. I had to try the ice cream cookie sandwich when I saw it and I was not disappointed. I got the peanut butter and chocolate flavour ice cream which was sandwiched in between 2 cookies. You got to choose the cookie flavour, size, and ice cream flavour. Was walking along Bloor between Dufferin and Lansdowne a week ago. Decided to drop in as this place looked so cute from the outside. They make their baked goods from scratch. I had the butter tart and an iced vanilla latte. I opted for the butter tart with no raisins. I wouldn't say it was good. It was ok. I was craving something sweet and it hit the spot. No list for available coffee. and when you ask about the options he'd reply with "choose whatever". Seems very disinterested in customers, and when we tipped him almost 25% (yeah, i know) he didn't even utter a simple thank you. Just a poker face a la "why are you still here". It seems like the positive reviews are from family and friends, cuz this was not a nice place. The coffee we did get was good though. Well it's about time I write a review for home. I've been here at least a dozen times since I discovered them back in March (thanks to a quick yelp search for carrot cake!). This place is super cute and cozy and is aptly named since it kinda feels like home. All baked goods are laid out on the counter (which I suppose some people don't like as they appreciate the items being kept behind a glass case) but I don't mind it at all. It makes it feel more like, well, home and it's very enticing to have it all right in front of you. There are about 4 or 5 small tables and it's the perfect place for people watching, both inside and outside the shop. Now onto the most important part - the food. Everything I've tasted here is amazing! I've had the cookies (my favourite is the spicy ginger), many-a-slice of carrot cake (although i have to agree with my fellow yelper - i'd love more icing!), cinnamon buns, and several flavours of ice cream (lemon meringue, hello!). No matter what you choose, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I believe they also have a couple gluten-free and vegan treats, which isn't quite my jam, but it might be yours. Service is always friendly. Cash or credit only. Love it! There's no place like home. read more

And it's become a favorite part of our routine. Their coffees are strong and pastries are decadent. We try something new and every time we visit. They use spaghetti as coffee stirrers which is insane - just buy spoons. Using food is incredibly wasteful and honestly bizarre. Also they don't have milk or cream out for tea/coffee so you have to ask for it every time which for a cafe seems ridiculous. The other day they had just straight up run out of milk - like you're on Bloor st close the shop for 5 minutes and go buy some milk you make COFFEE!!!! Some of the absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced- owner doesn't seem to care at all about the experience for the patron. Unfortunately the cinnamon buns are very good.
