What to say about Holy Cow? It's a summertime staple, and clearly a favorite for locals and visitors alike. The banana milkshake? Amazing. The soft serve ice cream? Divine. Banana splits are my all-time favorite ice cream dish, and I love that you can choose any ice cream flavors and toppings for this at Holy Cow. The Holy Cow hard ice cream flavor is delicious, and you can't live in this area without trying chocolate ice cream with wet walnuts on top at least once! Also, with ice cream this good you'd think the prices would be through the roof. Not the case-in fact, it's cheap AND delicious! Way better than your typical chain ice cream place. The drawbacks. Well, you can bet in the summer the line gets pretty long. You will usually encounter the line going out the door and around the corner during any weekend night in the summer. But it goes very quickly and I don't find myself annoyed by the wait at all. Perhaps it's the happy excitement of children waiting for their ice cream. They only accept cash, which can be a problem for me on occasion considering I hardly ever have cash on me, but this is easily solved by stopping by the local ATM before arriving. Also, Holy Cow does not serve food. But really, who needs a cheeseburger when you can have ice cream? read more

I am not from this area at all but I had the luck to get taken to this place. Best ice cream I've ever had in my life - I feel like I have to have it every time I'm around the area. It's so simple but it works. I'd actually give it 4.5 stars because the people that serve me can sometimes look quite unhappy and not interested in anything... but only sometimes! I will never have ice cream from any other joint but at Holy Cow! Small ice cream parlor with the best tasting ice cream around. But wait, not only is the icecream the best tasting, you cannot beat the prices!!! Expect long lines during warm days, that alone tells you something. The line does go very fast as they are always staffed accordingly. They even have a few tables outside to sit and enjoy your icecream!!! Whenever I head into Holy Cow, I have this "thing" where I almost instinctively have to get a certain kind of Razzle. The owner (who's almost always in there and was there when I placed (by the time this review goes out) last night's order just before closing talked to me. I decided to get something a little different. I wanted to attempt to get a different Razzle because my brother says he likes the Fresh Banana with Chocolate ice cream one - but tonight's experience really made me annoyed. The Fresh Banana gave this Razzle a "blah" taste (I like crunchy tastes, but the Banana made it seem like it had Marshmallows in it and not a taste feeling I'm normally expecting to find. And to top it all off, I paid one of the workers there. From past expereinces from an employee who could probably recite my order by heart, rang me up. I handed them the four dollars I had set aside for this Razzle. But when the order came over to me, the employee who went to fill the order came over to me with it, and asked me for another amount for payment. I mentioned her other co-worker took it, to which she wrote down something on a little purple pad of paper. I knew the owner was around, and she knew I was good about paying, but it's so weird that no one around here talks to other co-workers to let them know if they handled another part of the other employees job. I gave them $4 and got back my 50 cent change which I showed them, and off I went to eat it. (I must knock a star off for this portion of this experience. One of my favorite stops in the area. The soft serve ice cream is outstanding.. I can't bring my self to try anything else. Very inexpensive I think it's like $1.95 for a large soft serve with sprinkles! The only thing Holy Cow could stand to do is hire people that are more friendly... And take credit/ debit cards. Holy what??? I love places like this and due to reviews, went in here thinking I was going to have one of the best soft serve ice cream ever. I go the chocolate and vanilla. Much to my surprise, it was the worst tasting soft serve I've ever had. Bf got the hard ice cream, which I should have gotten. The chocolate peanut butter flavor was not so great, but okay. We would both say decent. What was amazing were there prices. I felt like I stepped into 1980. SO cheap. Due to the 5 stars, was this an incredibly "off" batch of ice cream? I know people who make a sharp beeline for this place any time they visit the area, but I think the appeal is less in the product and more in the institution. Ice cream is so-so, but priced very low, so it's all logical. I got blackberry (or something) ice cream here once and kind of hated it. However, their vanilla is really great; tastes just like White Rabbit rice candy (probably because both are flavored with vanillin, but something about the fakey vanilla is comforting) and makes a great accompaniment to homemade pies. read more

BEST. ICE CREAM SHOP. EVER. Seriously, the place is amazing! I have literally seen lines out the door in January. The ice cream is AMAZING and the prices PHENOMENAL. They might not have 5 billion flavors like some ice cream shops, but the flavors they DO have are made to perfection. And all for maybe a dollar! The milkshakes are also amazing. They are so thick and flavorful! They make me want to sing. They also have these Razzles. Razzles are so good, the only complaint I have about them is that they are so big I almost never actually finish it because I am so full! The ice cream sandwiches are made with homemade cookies, and are SO good. They also have these brownie sundaes with a homemade brownie at the bottom. They also have amazing ice cream cakes that I always get as my birthday cake, or for a friends surprise birthday party. But the best part are the utters. There is nothing better than going to an ice cream shop on a hot day. It's tradition for my friends and I to come here whenever we are in the area. It is such a cute little ice cream shop in the area. There is no seating inside, just outside on some benches and tables. When I get ice cream here I usually get the cookie dough and coffee combo, which pairs together perfectly. I love those two flavors, so for me, it's heaven. However I have also tried their other flavors and black raspberry is definitely up there, as well as their holy cow flavor. However the one flavor I definitely don't like there would be their pistachio. It doesn't really taste like pistachio and could use a little bit of work. This is definitely a cute place to stop by if you're in town. They don't really have crazy flavors if that's the type of place you're looking for, but they definitely have the flavors you know and love. From what I can tell it doesn't look like they change their flavors too much, if at all. So no need to worry about coming back and not seeing your favorite flavor. But one thing you need to be aware of is that they do not accept cards. It is a cash only type of place, so stop by the bank before coming! (but even then you don't need to take out too much!) Good ice cream, fantastic prices. There was a line, but they moved pretty quickly. The butterscotch soft serve was pretty good. It seemed to be a vanilla base, with swirls of the flavoring on the edges. Same with the cotton candy and the coffee soft serve flavors. Everybody was happy, and their rainbow sherbet was excellent. The staff was pleasant, and they got the orders to their customers quickly. I'm not sure what other reviewers were saying that the staff was rude. I didn't experience that at all.
